Balanced Budget Amendment finally arrives in the National Assembly
President Zurab Nadarejshvili has the power to determine when bills come before the floor for debate and voting. During the reign of the First Assembly, a moderately large group of the NDP wanted to propose a Balanced Budget Amendment to the Constitution. Nadarejshvili repeatedly blocked such a thing from coming to the floor because "I do not think in these times that the idea of using credit to ensure the welfare of our people is a problem."
However, today the National Assembly has cut back significantly on spending as the massively ambitious projects come to a close. However, the Conservative Party and the Jurzani Union Party have formed a loose coalition to support a Balanced Budget Amendment and get it passed in the National Assembly.
Representative Sanjay Rangeela (JUP), Party Leader for the JUP has joined with Representative Younis Khan (CP), Party Leader of the CP, in the decision to ask all members of their party to discontinue their activities until President Nadarejshvili allows a session of debate and promises a vote on the Balanced Budget Amendment.
Nadarejshvili, not being a supporter of such an Amendment, asked for the States to vote before the National Assembly does, as for the Amendment Process, the 60% of the States must approve an Amendment before it can become Law. He claimed that should the States approve it, then he would open sessions for Debate in the National Assembly. Representative Rangeela said such an act is unacceptable because the State Legislatures, which a major still have NDP Leaders, will hold off on voting on the Amendment, eventually filibustering it into nonexistence. Rangeela demanded that the National Assembly step up and vote on the issue and send it to the States. "States do not determine what the National Assembly will or will not vote on." She stated.
Supreme Chancellor Faraj Khayrat reiterates Jurzan's support for Carentania
Today, in a Press Conference Supreme Chancellor Khayrat stated that the Second Jurzani Republic still is and always will be loyal to Carentania. When asked if Carentania ever came under attack, would Jurzan aid in its defense. Khayrat responded by saying that an attack on Carentania is an attack on Jurzan and will be responded to in the same fashion.
Khayrat also urged the National Assembly to continue to maintain partnerships with Carentania for the betterment of the two nations.
