Active, potentially unstable neighbors...? ;)

The fall of Montelimar, the French homeland, could give new credibility to a demagogue whose ideas had once been considered fringe but, in lieu of the loss of the mother country, suddenly become relevant. A siege mentality might take over politics, with people worried that they might soon be the target for a new Engellex invasion, drastically changing the way the country had formerly operated. This would lead to traditional peace-time parties having to readjust their platforms or risk being overtaken by old or new radical parties.

That's just a concept for a setting and basic plot, what you want to do with the characters of that setting, should you choose to accept it, is up to you. ;)

Ohh, this is beginning to sound enticing. Could you give me a little background on the fall and also engellex invasions? Has engellex invaded a number of the neighboring countries?

Engellex has only annexed Montelimar afaik. He's been at war with a major alliance known as the EDF (despite their inactivity, this would be notable IC'ly) These: ( , ) are the major threads to look at, with the Glorious Sixth involving the attack and occupation of Montelimar. It's 11 pages long, but essentially it shows that: Engellex invaded Montelimar. Defeated them in conventional warfare. Montelimar refugees flooded Danmark or Wendmark, I don't have that map area memorized... after all I'm "ASIAN" hurr hurr. As well, the EDF failed to support Montelimar and the Montelimar monarchy was supplant or coerced into cooperation with Engellex monarchy. I'm not sure if they fled to Dan/Wendmark, I wasn't able to finish reading the threads myself.

In addition, Engellex is a staunch opponent of Republicanism. The influx of refugees into your nation, combined with fear of Engellexic anti-Republicanism and imperialism would be important to you. There's another conflict, the Solaren one to your south, but largely for you that's a non-issue compared to the Engellex one, if you take the French path. Furthermore, Engellex has declared war on, but has made no move to invade, Boliatur for their radical Post-Delegationist Republican views. At the moment, if Boliatur continues to play as he has, this may possibly bring Engellex into a conflict with Touzen. Who knows, that's WILD speculation.

alright, I'm thinking of going French along these lines. The République L'Ardenne (Republic of Ardennes). How recent were the Engellex invasion and Solaren wars IC?

Hello
My nation is The Tikali Islands which the name is inspired by the Mayan culture. I'm aiming for it to be a small cluster of tropical islands with a population of at least 7-9 million people. The way I've molded this nation is broadly based on a Utopian society, but with its own small slew of troubles. I want this to become a paradise vacation destination for the people of this 'planet' from all over as well as vacation home for some high-profile Europeans (politicians, kings, activists, celeberties, etc.). Tourism, fishing & agriculture and mining will be the main sectors powering the Islands' economy. It's a free-market, open, multiculturally-accepting, liberal, beautiful country - run by a small council representing each district under one benevolent, tolerant 'dictator'.
The native people of the Islands' will comprise the majority of its ethnic population (I'm currently toying with Creole), but I would like to have a colonial nation to work with in order to build a history. I'd really like my coloniser to be English, Spanish but most of all (seeing as how I am French-Canadian) French. Therefore, the official languages of this nation would be what I'll call 'Tikali Creole' as well as the language of whomever my coloniser will be.
Besides being known as a perfect vacation or summer home destination, I'm also aiming to have the Islands' known for their impecable healthcare system and work towards having some of the greatest doctors and cleanest hospitals and clinics in the world.

Hello Tikali Islands! Your Mayan Culture society sounds very original and interesting. I like your flag and signature too. :p

Welcome to NS Europe! You should start a factbook so we can get to know The Tikali Islands a little better.

Hello all, I'm Tommy from Los Angeles, and I was brought in by Lower Swiecziema. I was looking at taking over Volga, if of course the appropriate parties agree to it. I plan on running the country as a small, highly defensible bastion of liberal utopia. I envision it to look like Tibet, but with more paratroopers, and other fun times.

Be very careful - utopias tend to be mocked around here. Plus, it's far more interesting to play a nation with various flaws than what amounts to a "Mary Sue government."
