I read through Engagements last night, and I am really enjoying it. Good writing!

Thanks. It's been fun to write miscellaneous backstories that touch upon the big international stories. I sense budding interest for some of the sordid backstories of Hammersmith's red light district...!

I might actually be interested in the same. I'd originally thought to write a humorous news piece over it, but I think I'd rather go the same route as the previous poster. If you care to amend the list with us included I have a few names to add ready, will include them in a message upon request.

That will allow for the best of both worlds well enough then, naming at least one or two institutions in the aforementioned (good natured in the dryly academic way) humorous news piece.

The Patrimonium Institute has an agenda, to be sure. It's a sort of conservative thinktank interested in promoting traditional Western humanities, hence the "probation" for all kinds of universities I assume would objectively be highly ranked.

That might work towards a favorable ranking, depending upon how conservative exactly. Higher education is inextricably linked to Orthodoxy in Chernovy, playing upon an unbroken tradition of Medieval Orthodox learning in the way of "mystical scholasticism." This will have flowered into a parallel but structurally similar/equivalent university tradition, and educational tradition overall.

Hey there, any chance I can get some of our books/university onto your lists? Thanks. :)

Yes. Drop something in your newsfeed. I generate my lists by searching things like "book," "author," "university," etc. The plan is to update them every ~2 mos. Also happy to host distinguished foreign humanities scholars at the Marian University in Windhaven.

I must admit it's a little bit bizarre to see you with another username even though it of course makes sense given you are playing another nation now. It kinda was very ingrained into your identity here, so certainly a change of pace.

I always played 'Gunnlandia' here even with a 'Capitollium' username tied to the NS country I created in 2004 or something. The new name-change feature allowed me to simplify things.

Hello. Was gonna do a post in the hidden king re the kidnapping. One thing I'm not sure of is whether princess Julian actually was ever taken to Trivodnia. Up to you.
      1. Gunnland
        Gunnland
Yes. There was a shootout in Kretyn between rival Yiddish gangsters, the upstarts who worked as subcontractors for the MacLeish (who were in turn contracted by the Church), and the established mafia.

She obviously survived, but this was the catalyst for getting her the hell out of Kretyn to Eiffelland.

Apologies for a late response, the map has been occupying too much of my time and thinking. How involved would you have him? Like quietly, and very illegally, shipping human commodities from Gunnland or something to the SoCRER?
      1. Gunnland
        Gunnland
It could be clandestine human trafficking from various points: Loago, Gunnland, Trivodnia, etc. Or Lloyd & MacLeish General Maritime Group could openly be involved in shipping between Engellex and the SoCRER, which is what I meant to offer, if there are shipments between the two (which I assumed).

I don't know how you did it, but you created a "category" in an invisible part of the wiki, so it ended up in moderation hell.

Please tell me when you made a backup of the contents so I can delete the "category" and you can create a "page" in the nations area.

Whoops. I 'soft-deleted' the category, but if you wipe it, hopefully I'll be able to make a page.

Well seeing as we are really close neighbors I feel like we should probably figure out how close we are in terms of treaties and trade and stuff.

While I don't see Bourgogne as an enemy, I haven't gotten to really interact with Engellex at all. So I don't even know what relations are between us.

Sounds like we agree upon how the trade flows work. I want to wait and see how geopolitics starts to look. Given the strong anti-Tiburian Catholic sentiment elsewhere in Europe, perhaps Gunnland will circle close to countries like Bourgogne and Eiffelland.

The state of religion within Geotri is rather divided but the second most common religion is Tibur Catholicism, which is still highly regarded. Once the map updates we should see about forming some sort of NATO like organization, instead we could probably call it the GSTO (Gothic Sea Treaty Organization.)

"I will repopulate THK from my end this week in a flurry of back-posts with one new one that I think is a direct response to von Bernrode."

I'm looking forward to it :)

By the way, does it fit in your plans if Princess Julian becomes a friend of Prince Ludwig? That will not turn out into a relationship, by the way. Ludwig is gay and remains gay (although ICly that is not official).

That would be fine, sure. If he's not out, she could probably play the "queen bee," as they say.

Sure - or the shoot out could have happened after they had already kidnapped her? Up to you.
    13. Trivodnia

OK so am thinking the Yiddish Mafia have links to the MacLeishes as it gives them international reach (assuming the clan's shipping company is global?) as Trivodnia's own shipping links are very much limited to the Three Seas region.

The heroin supply chain I imagine goes Kashtani/Jurzani farmers -> Kadikistani mafia -> Yiddish mafia -> MacLeishes -> Scania/Germania

I'm thinking the shoot-out in Kretyn is linked to the kidnapping case in so far a rogue faction of the Yiddish mafia of junior up-starts agreed (for a fee) to help with the kidnap and intimidation of Princess Julian. Older, wiser heads then 'disciplined' them, recognising the extra attention and trouble the case would bring them, which led to a bloody dispute and several bodies.

OOCly, I have always been immune to such advertisement campaigns. ICly, I think such a campaign could work, although you will have to compete with the local beer brewers and wine growers.

Anyway, I am aware of what a Scottish colleague once said after a dinner: "Whesky ess forr men. Wine ess forr the ladies. That's how I was rraised."
My reply: "OK. Herewith I declare that I'm a male."

You could be right. I can't tell, because I hardly drink alcohol. I can imagine, however, that somebody prefers to drink something else than a beverage with 40% alcohol when it is 35 degrees Celsius, i.e. 95 degrees Fahrenheit. Then at least I would prefer cold dry white wine, or cold dry rosé, if it would be something with alcohol.
But ouzo is a Greek highly-alcoholic beverage, so maybe you are right. In any case, given my rare experiences with whisky, I would not drink it when it is hot.

      Trivodnia
Sure. Perhaps the Gunns or another clan have close connections to the Krasnislavian mafia* given it another dimension of conflict. I'll think of something this week and run it past you.

*essentially Trivodnia is - just by an inch - majority Yiddish with a large Slavic minority, of which Krasnislavians form the bulk, the rest being Srjbs, Ruthenes, Galicians, Kadikistanis etc. it's not quite an Israel-Palestine situation, though many would like it to be
