I'm more worried about knowing where I am geographically, so that I can come up with a prior history based upon it. It's also a matter that I'm starting fresh, and thereby trying not to tread on any toes immediately.
It's not all about war, but I did think of it as an idea to prompt reactions...
I also do have something specific in mind to create a bit of drama and activity with the map area I asked for... particularly concerning the small area of the coast that is not Venezian. ^^#
Anyhow. Any official map-making response on this? I don't mind if the map isn't updated for a while, but...
The real-life Venice was (on a smaller scale) a refugee state, so I quite like that idea. Of course, it's only broadly based on it rather than identical, in the case of this game, for obvious reasons.
Mainly, I originally only picked the area I did because it looked like an Italy when there was an obvious Greece shaped like Greece further to the east.
Maybe I'm just thinking too much of how things used to be, and expecting to be invaded from three directions for the audacity of being near somebody. That, and it seems a bit strange for 'Italy' to border 'Denmark' :P
It can also be rationalised, if necessary (rather than merely being...
I was mainly going for a Venetian theme, and that region looked relevant while also not being crowded. Tricky, though, since the regions are a bit different to what was expected. Main issue with the white plot you mention is it's not conducive to any kind of seagoing history. :(
I wouldn't know. Given that there's a very Greece-looking state further to the east, and French and Germans to the west, I'd figured it was in a good position for Italy.
Well, just getting started again and seeing if I can't get back into ol' NS Europe with a new nation. Using my old one might be problematic given the setting changes.
This would be ideal, using the area as an Italy-equivalent. If you can't do the two, then the left-hand one is sufficient, but...
There might be a few, but I don't know who is active or not anymore - part of why I posted the thread, in fact, to see if it would draw people out of the woodwork. You'll be able to spot Arendaal and Eiffeland if you look closely on the 2006 map, however.
Went through my old files after discovering that this place was still in existence, and I figure some people might get a kick out of this, even if they don't remember it.
Here's some of the ancient history of (NS) Europe, with maps from September 2003 and January 2006, respectively.
Here's...
