Rheinbund
Established Nation
Apart from the Eiffellandian car industry, which presents itself separately, the Eiffellandian industry is also active in several other branches. The most important ones are the biomedical, electronic (Rathenau Gruppe), lens technique and photography branches.
Biomedical industry
The Eiffellandian biomedical industry consists of three branches:
- Pharmaceutics;
- Medical devices;
- Medical equipment and equipment for laboratories.
Pharmaceutics
Boehrig Ingelheim produces and invents antibiotics, medications for Asthma and COPD, antiflogistics, dermatologica, vaccines, coagulants, anticoagulants, heart medications, bowel medications, bandages, medications for endocrinological diseases, pain killers and products for dentistry. Boehrig Ingelheim is also very active on the tooth paste and tooth brushes market.
Schwarzenberg produces and invents psychopharmaca, anaesthetitcs and specialist medications to treat auto-immune diseases.
Medical devices
Medictronics produces pacemakers, defibrillators, ECG equipment, STENTs, infusion pumps, internal insulin pumps and bone reconstruction materials.
Hospital and laboratory equipment
Heppendorf is the company in this sector. It produces all kinds of laboratory and hospital equipment, for instance injection needles, infusion needles, micropipettes, cell separation techniques, micro-infusion techniques on cell level, X-ray equipment, CT scans, MRI scans, PET scans, endoscopy equipment, flow cytometry equipment, echography equipment and so on. Eppendorf also equips the MEDEVAC planes, used by the Eiffellandian armed forces to carry severely wounded people.
Wound treatment and skin care
Winkelsdorf is the company in this niche. It produces plasters, bandages, stich materials and all other kinds of wound treatment materials and skin care products. Together with Boehrig Ingelheim, it produces all kinds of ointments and creams for treating skin diseases.
Winkelsdorf also manufactures over-the-counter skin care products, like hand creams, facial creams, shower gels, bath gels, soaps and so on.
Electronics: Rathenau Gruppe
The Rathenau Gruppe consists of diverse electronic companies. Herewith a list.
NAE
This is our high-quality brand for car radios, hifi-installations, televisions, complete audio- and light equipment for concert and conference halls as well as theaters, recording equipment for studios, broadcasting equipment (both television and radio) and music instruments. The sound is tremendous with NAE, and you will enjoy it life-long.
Schwarzpunkt
Schwarzpunkt produces car radios, hifi-installations and radios for a reasonable price.
TEG
Ever-lasting and easy to use house-hold equipment? That's possible with TEG. This division produces washing machines, wash dryers, dishwashers, refrigerators, hoovers, electric and gas cooking herds with and without oven, electric gas ovens, coffee makers, bread toasters, hair dryers, microwaves and so on.
Nichsdorf
This division manufactures computers, computer screens, printers, scanners, landline telephones, mobile telephones, telegraph and telex equipment and radio-equipment for use by the police, fire department and ambulances.
Rathenau Musikgesellschaft (RMG)
The recording of classic music and jazz requires much experience, much love for music and much know-how. The Rathenau Musikgesellschaft (RMG) contracts the best orchestras in Europe for its recordings in the RMG studios or concert halls. But don't think other music styles require less care. Also the recordings of those styles will be carried out with care.
RMG - The label for the best recordings you can get.
Rathenau Militärausrüstung
This division produces a.o. radio systems for use by armed forces. The systems in question have been designed for working under the most extreme circumstances. They have been designed in such a way that they can work a long time without recharging, and the batteries can be recharged easily even in the field.
Lens techniques and photography
Eiffelland has a long-standing tradition in lens techniques, photography and filmograhpy. Two companies are active in this branche: Agfas A.G. and Karl Seiff GmbH.
Agfas A.G.
The Eiffellandian company Agfas was one of the first to introduce colour photography in the 1930s; nowadays it produces photofilm and moviefilm materials, easy-to-use photocameras, hand-held moviecameras, videocameras, advanced moviecameras for the motion picture industry and movieprojectors for both at home and at the cinema. Furthermore, this company also produces printing presses and offset equipment for printing works.
Karl Seiff GmbH.
Karl Seiff was a pioneer in lens technology; his company Karl Seiff GmbH was one of the first to introduce the reflexcamera under the brand name Seiff Ikon, but is also known for its state-of-the-art microscopes, binoculars, spectacle glasses, periscopes for submarines and telescopes (both the small types for amateur starwatchers and the large ones in astronomical observatories).
DVA A.G.
The abbreviation DVA stands for Datenverarbeitung und Analyse (Data processing and analysis). It is a package with two main modules. The first main module is the database module; it is designed for storing data. The other main module is the analysis module; it is meant for analysing and processing data. The difference between both modules is the way numbers are stored: The database module stores numbers in nibbles (groups of four bits) in order to store them exactly. The analysis module, which is the older module, stores numbers in the floating-point arithmetic standard to facilitate fast data processing.
DVA developed many business intelligence and data mining tools, but it is also possible that other users develop their tools with this software. The analysis module provides a wide variety of statistical analysis functions, from a simple frequency analysis to a complex multivariate linear regression model or a survival analysis. Graphs can be produced as plain text or in picture format like JPEG, PNG or GIF. Vector based graph formats are also available. Tables can be produced as plain text files, HTML format, RTF format or PDF format. It is also possible to export data to other formats, or to import data from other formats. Analyses can be set up through a graphical interface, but also by programming.
DVA is currently the leading database and analysis software for the Eiffellandian universities, the Eiffellandian biomedical companies, the Eiffellandian banks and the Eiffellandian industries.
TrialValid GmbH.
This is a new company that provides a data management and analysis application for the pharmaceutical and medical devices industry. TrialValid provides the possibility to perform double data entry for studies on paper Case Report Forms, but it also contains an Electronic Data Capture tool to facilitate data collection of clinical trials by letting the investigator log in on the system and enter the data into the system himself instead of filling out a paper Case Report Form. The underlying database system is DVA. It is possible to build data validation checks into the database. The simple checks can be built in an interface guided system, but it is also possibly to write DVA syntax for more complex validation checks. The Electronic Data Capture tool provides the possibility to compare the data entered by investigator with data entered on previous screens or the current screen (e.g. if the investigator indicates that the patient is a smoker but forgets to enter the number of cigarettes smoked, then a message appears when he wants to save the page), or to conditionally open data fields (e.g. only opening data fields on the number of cigarettes or cigars smoked per day if the investigator ticked that the patient is a smoker).
