a LETTER of ADDRESS by the PARLIAMENTARIANS of the
ENGELLEXIAN REPUBLIC
In the ENGELLEXIAN REPUBLIC PARLEMENT ASSEMBLED the FOREIGN AFFAIRS JOINT COMMITTEE,
The Foreign Affairs Joint Committee has been persuaded to urgently make the following letter to the Government of Gunnland.
It has much been a question of lengthy occupation within the Engellexian Republic, on the study of conditions and efficiency prevailing in many of the embassies and consulates of the First Republic abroad. It was evidenced that the thought of improvement to the system by which the Republic establishes and maintains diplomatic and economic relations should prevail within the Engellexian Republic Parlement; and it is in your quarter that the need for the provision of suitable estate not only from the point of view of prestige, but also as a location and property in which suitable functions could be held.
It should be stressed that it is decided that the accommodation provided for Engell diplomatic officers in the capital cities of Northern Germania and Eastern Scania was found to less satisfactory or even poor, and will remain permanently closed as administrative centres for the diplomatic service; the embassy in Windhaven will be transferred to the status of an official residence of the Lord Commissioner, an improvement.
As the Government of her Majesty of Gunnland will know quite well, that over a period of time the work entailed in diplomatic missions abroad have quite literally increased by leaps and bounds, and, in most places, considerations on expansions for further accommodations and administration is made. We need not refer to the special difficulties which are being encountered at the present by the diplomatic missions and officers of the Engellexian Republic. The reasons for them will be obvious to all, if not they have been sufficiently expressed in publications national and international, but it is really to the future that Hammersmith has been most decided in looking, and it is to the future that I shall address the intentions of the Engellexian Republic Parlement.
This year, his Mightiness the Lord Protector and the Council of the Republic moved to suspend the diplomatic service of the Republic abroad, in anticipation of a thoroughly researched report on the condition of this particular departments activities and efficiencies abroad - a report to provide propositions for the reform of our diplomatic service. It had been made known publicly that our system of establishing and maintaining foreign relations will be seriously re-organised, and the Engellexian Republic Parlement has been quite agreed the scheme being brought about.
It is the intention of the Engellexian Republic Parlement to establish a High Commission in Seaguard* for the purpose of overseeing the efficient and reasonable enforcement and promotion of the interests of the Engellexian Republic in Northern Germania and Eastern Scania - Gunnland; Elben; Warre; Virumaa; Ivernia; and Montroulez.
It is required for the Engellexian Republic Parlement to acquire upwards and above 10km2 of land in Seaguard, acceptable for industrious purposes, as to accommodate the High Commission (Northern Germanic Docks; Engellex House (diplomatic administration); Lord Commissioner Court (official residence); warehouse and factory facilities).
We anticipate great economic advantages to the honourable people of Gunnland, and indeed women and men of Seaguard.
signed on Order and on Behalf of the Foreign Affairs Joint Committee,
Lord Benjamin Boxer,
Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Joint Committee
