GENERAL RECALL IN CONSIDERATION AS LOAGO CONFLICT GROWS
Possibility of Stanleyan forces meeting Loagoan forces "concerning"

In a joint statement, the foreign and defense ministries indicated that volunteers in Loago may be recalled in the near future should forces from Port Stanley continue their incursion into Loago. A spokesman for the foreign ministry said, "This newest escalation of the conflict in Loago is concerning in that many of His Majesty's subjects have been allowed to join in the fight against the communists, but now it is possible they may end up fighting forces whose ultimate loyalty belongs to Gunnland. It would be a great tragedy if our two countries were found themselves on the wrong side of a conflict all the way in southern Himyar.

Elbeners in the service of Loago are being directed to finish their tours and then to return home. Those in-country working with charities and religious missions are unaffected.

Strike day four: Sporadic violence continues across the country

Chagny

What is already being referred to as the Good Friday Strike enters its fourth day as workers across Bourgogne continue to protest the dismemberment of the grand duchy. Donning their reservist orange vests last Friday after services, the protesters took to the streets to block traffic in the main arteries of Chagny and other cities while calling on the new grand duke to restore Bourgogne to its former glory. Police forces have been attempting over the weekend disperse the protesters. Two policemen were injured on Easter Sunday in a skirmish on the outskirts of the capital.

Many on social media have been linking to a weblog known as Orange Spring created by a blogger with the pen name of The_Rightful_Duke. In his first post from earlier this year in what is being described as a manifesto, he called upon all Burgundians to put aside their animosities and unite.

The Commonwealth of Port Stanley is a sovereign state and, while it had a historical legal relationship with the constituent Duchy of Lower Marpesia and though its head-of-state is a Gunnish subject, has no official or legal relationship with the Kingdom of Gunnland.

Strikers will take day off for Low Sunday

Chagny

The Good Friday Strike is expected to take a day of rest tomorrow before resuming on Monday. Workers' leaders spoke to le Soleil, declaring that they would in no way hamper Bourgogne's celebration of Low Sunday. Michele LeClerc, president of the Milkman's Union, wearing his orange vest, declared from the steps of the Senate that the average Burgundian had nothing to fear from protestors and that their only goal was to see all made right. "We will prevail in making Bourgogne great again!"

No comment from foreign ministry as Neustria breaks off talks

Chagny

Foreign minister Hugh Villier refused to comment as he passed by press to his car for the short trip to brief Their Highnesses the Regents. Sources inside the foreign and defense ministries indicated that with the greater amount of hardware of Bourgogne's military forces in Neustria at the time of its secession, a formalization of the status quo would leave the grand duchy in a precarious position. A negotiator close to the talks who spoke to le Soleil on condition of anonymity indicated that from its position of strength, it was unlikely that Neustria would be returning to the negotiating table. "This could be it."

Ducal Gendarmes have been deployed to augment Police Nationale units across the grand duchy as the Good Friday Strike continues into its fifteenth day.

BEAUTANCUS ANNOUNCES IMPLARIAN EXERCISE
So-called "IMPPAC" to be monitored by Elben

Defense officials of Beautancas announced today that that country's navy along with invitees from around the Engelsphere will be taking part in a forthcoming exercise in the Implarian Ocean. Also invited to participate are the Two Kingdoms, Azraq, and the Anti-State. It is noted in the same report that an invitation had not been sent to Elben and a war ministry spokesman confirmed the report.

When asked how Elben will respond to, the war ministry indicated that navy units will continue their normal operations in and around the Augustines. "Ships come and go all the time. It's a big ocean. Of course, we always ask that large naval forces remain outside our territorial waters so that normal civilian traffic is not impeded and we will do so in this case."

Gunnish "Empire Bill" raises questions

Chagny

Today during the Senate's afternoon session when members may speak on whatever they wish, many brought up the so-called "Empire Bill" that has been introduced into the Gunnish legislative body known as the Thing by Théophile Gladstone-Pape of the Party of Integrity. According to news sources in Gunnland, this bill, "would extend a treaty framework to formally reëstablish the Holy Tiburan Empire in , Elben, and . The proposal would abolish the Army Council and the Foreign Office, and centralize the military hierarchy and foreign policy bureaus of the three countries in Chagny."

Members led by Alain Charnier in what Senate watchers say must have been a coordinated action, gave complementary speeches on where they think Bourgogne stands in Gallogermania. According to Monsieur Charnier, with Neustria and the new Pillau Republic rising up, talk earlier this spring of taking a neutral stance is now untenable. "It's all well and good to speak of high minded ideals, but since then, we've been double crossed by Neustria and had much of our army stolen from under our noses. Working together with our natural Catholic allies of the north is the natural choice."

Many in the political establishment who spoke to le Soleil are looking to the Orange Vests, who have remained quiet the last week due to the presence of the Ducal Gendarme in the cities for their reaction given their nationalist rhetoric.

HIS MAJESTY SPEAKS OUT ON GUNNISH BILL
Talks underway internally of possible ramifications

In his radio address to his subjects last night, HM informed his people that he had been briefed by his ministers on the situation in Gunnland, noting, "It has always been our goal to see the Catholic North strengthened in ways that enable it to fight the scourges of modernism that currently threaten to tear Europe apart. We have been studying this Empire Bill and how similar measures in Elben would affect our realm and our peoples."

HM noted that Elben's own situation is unique in that in many ways, its own institutions mirror that of the proposed empire, with regional bodies largely responsible for governing their own communities, all united by Throne and Altar.

PRINCESS ENTERS FINAL DAYS OF PREGNANCY
She is expected to remain in Chagny for the birth

Princess Mireille has entered into the final days of her pregnancy. She spoke to Lifestyle editor Liesl Meier in Chagny at the grand ducal palace.

I traveled to Bourgogne on the train. The colors of spring were all around me as I passed over the river into Gunnland and then through the mountains to Bourgogne before pulling into the station in Chagny. My language skills from university served me well as I was escorted to the palace to meet with the princess. Princess Mireille has seen many changes in her life since I interviewed her last October. Then she was planning on making a home in Eschenbach with her husband. Now they have removed to this foreign city and taken up the yoke of regency on behalf of the crown prince's father.

When i first saw the princess, I was amazed to see how well she had been holding up under the twin stresses of carrying a child and serving alongside her husband to stabilize Bourgogne during the transition of power. We sat in a well-appointed chamber she had adopted as her morning room.

Quite a bit different from the Old Palace in Eschenbach. A few of my ladies-in-waiting have come along with me and so many of the people here have worked to make us feel as if we belong. One of the housekeepers introduced me to this room and said many of the grand duchesses of the past preferred this room.

We talked about domestic arrangements and what it would be like bringing up a child so important to Elben in a foreign land.

Well, Bourgogne will be his land as well some day, hopefully far in the future, God willing. Of course, his grandfather has already prepared special documents dealing with the legalities of being born beyond the borders of Elben. A little legal trickery is involved, but as they say, it's good to be the king.

Preparations have been made here for the birth as the princess did not want to go to hospital for the event. During these final days she has cleared her schedule and remains at home while her husband the Crown Prince Leopold continues the work of the regency.

His father had such a long apprenticeship and now he is learning as he goes. We both have. My family though, the Valvoisettes, we've seen a lot.

Police take steps as Orange Vests continue protests

Chagny

During a protest outside the Senate in Chagny yesterday, senior leaders of the Orange Vests faced off as factions continue to form after the comments of Alain Charnier regarding the Gunnish "Empire Bill" and continued violence after a recent call by the leadership of the Pillau Republic for Burgundians to rise up in support of republicanism in the grand duchy and Neustria.

The Orange Vests remain largely a phenomenon that is self-organizing without true leadership, making recognition of factions with different political motivations difficult, but this newest development has shown a clear break between those who see a return to Empire as a way forward to making Bourgogne great again and those who see Republic as a break with what many Orange Vest protestors are now calling the decadent past that led to the current situation.

After calls by the Pillau Republic for revolt, the regents ordered a full mobilization of Police Nationale and Ducal Gendarme units across the country to arrest anyone participating in subversive activity. A police spokesman who was not authorized to comment told le Soleil that orders had gone out to treat Orange Vests with kid gloves so as not to cause the situation to deteriorate further.

Private Moments || Maximilien Hortefeux
The President of Serenierre was drunk and sprawled in his private salon in the official apartment. Being little more than a ceremonial figurehead now in his seventies, Maximilien had little else to do in the evenings. His wife was dead and his mistress was boring. Denied even carnal delights, he had decided to truly become a connoisseur of inebriation.

That evening, he had ended up watching the news. That horrible ticker ran below. The Valvoisette pretender line had merged with the Burgundian claim now that the pathetic Grand Duke had died. And much to the alarm of all true Sérazinists, the two pretender lines were to be merged in one. The first occasion since the death of the former King Leopold X in 1933.

In a drunken fury, he picked up the phone, "Tell the... the... the.. Directorate," he stumbled with his words, "Kill that damned Princess before she pops out that prick."

"Monsieur President," the operator said, "You're no longer the Premier, sir. You aren't allowed to call the Directorate."

"Oh, is that so, I'll fu-" the line went dead. The damned phone operator hung up on him. That bloody gloating bitch Elisabeth, he thought, had deprived him of all political power. After all he had done for her when she was nothing but a middling party functionary in Ville-bloody-Marne. This was the thanks he got. He slumped back in the armchair.

The smiling face of the Elben Crown Princess was flashing on the screen.

ON THE JOYOUS occasion of the birth of the next highborn prince of the Kingdom of Elben and the Grand Duchy of Bourgogne, this Office humbly informs the Elben Royal Family that there are many mothers, still, in the Protectorate who find themselves living and giving birth in refugee camps under tarp tents.

As such, in the spirit of goodwill and humanitarianism, we would be much obliged if the Elben royal house would donate with an open heart to the plight of Occitanian mothers and children, for whom the Central Secretariat is desperately seeking to establish small OB/GYN clinics in as many towns as possible.

To the Protectorate of Occitania, with your government's permission, the Brotherhood will immediately send coordinators to the protectorate to begin working on the logistics of setting up our standard refugee camps containing field kitchens, field hospitals, and refugee shelters. Our social workers will work with refugees to see that their needs are fully met and to facilitate the stabilization of their lives.

Station bombed, officers ambushed by terrorists; attacks sweep Bourgogne

Agneaux

Last night in the town of Agneaux, terrorists were able to infiltrate the local police station and detonate an explosive. Police personnel evacuating the structure were ambushed outside and brutally gunned down. The perpetrators then fled the scene, but not before leaving behind graffiti that identified them as sympathizers of the so-called Burgundian People's Republic based in Pillau.

Similar surprise attacks took place across the country last night. Ducal Gendarmes arrayed in riot gear engaged in late night street battles with armed terrorists. The police reported that the terrorists had largely been dispersed by morning. Civilians emerged from their homes where they had been sheltering in place to find many streets and marketplaces filled with broken glass and other debris from gun battles in the night.

The government has ordered a dusk to dawn curfew until further notice. Armée Républicaine Nationale has been declared a banned organization and anyone found to be associated with it may be detained indefinitely.

We welcome the decision of the Brotherhood of St. Dumas, however, we must insist that the Brotherhood in no way attempts to send missionaries to the Protectorate in the wake of its humanitarian mission. Given the sensitive sensibilities in Occitania as a whole vis-a-vis religion, it will be highly incendiary if such activities were to be allowed.

THIRD IN LINE BORN SAFE AND SOUND
Royal boy born to Crown Prince Leopold and Princess Mireille in Chagny

Yesterday afternoon saw the arrival of the son of Crown Prince Leopold and his wife Princess Mireille. The delivery went smoothly and mother and child are both doing well. The event took place in a specially prepared room in the grand ducal palace in Chagny with all necessary personnel present. The royal boy's name and vital statistics were not included in the announcement. According to custom, the baptism of the child will take place "very soon."

The announcement yesterday over Radio Eschenbach was met with joyous celebration in the streets in the capital and across Elben. Various groups offered up their congratulations and prayers for the young parents and their child. A spokesman at the Old Palace said His Majesty is delighted and has spoken to both his son and daughter-in-law.

Grand ducal visit expected

Chagny

With the birth of Grand Duke Charles' grandson and the boy's expected baptism in the coming week, preparations have begun for the visit the grand duke's visit to Chagny, his first since his elevation to the throne of Bourgogne. The visit due to the continued violence in the streets will take place under tight security with ducal gendarmes and police units fully deployed. The leadership in the Senate are making plans for an expected grand ducal address.

Prime Minister Villiers spoke to reporters yesterday after the announcement of the birth of the regents' child. "We wish them great joy. In my personal dealings with them, I have found Their Highnesses to be very much concerned with assuring that Burgundian affairs remain as they've always been and that they represent the grand duke's wishes. The slurs coming out of Pillau are just that, slurs. Bourgogne has already suffered with the separation of Neustria and the declaration of the republic in the northwest. Now the Pillau Republic wishes to throw the grand duchy into civil war. This will not be tolerated."

News of the royal birth in Chagny was not well received. Almost as soon as the Elbener royal household had confirmed it, the senior Communist Party leadership had met for a high level meeting. “This is a travesty,” the president said to the others, “This unification of the pretender lines is the biggest threat we have ever faced from the royalists since the revolution.” The others murmured their agreement.

“In coming years, we may need to keep liquidation orders ready for this evil child. Directorate 77 must draw up plans to surveil and monitor the Elbeners in Chagny. They should not have a moment's peace.”

Curfew declared after bombing, shooting

Chagny

With the birth of Grand Duke Charles' grandson and the boy's expected baptism in the For the first weekend since Easter the Orange Vests will not be marching in Chagny as the government has declared a 48-hour curfew beginning at noon Saturday. Any civilians found on the streets will be detained for an indefinite period.

Police are continuing to investigate the midnight bombing near the Elbenese embassy and a drive-by shooting that took place outside a popular bistro in the city center. Sources close to the investigation say there have been no claims of responsibility. There were no injuries from the bombing. Police refused to comment on the shooting, saying it was too early, though witnesses told reporters there were "scores" on the sidewalk dead.

The grey haired news anchor, a fine old gentleman of the old school, is dressed in a well cut charcoal grey suit. He is reading off a teleprompter with ease. Over his shoulder is a graphic of the palace where the Senate sits with a jeweled crown superimposed over it.

"...Passed the Senate with a two thirds majority needed. In comments to the press outside the Senate chamber, Prime Minister Villiers said that it was a step forward for Bourgogne, opening a new chapter where the grand duchy can return to its place in Europe while partnering with Gunnland and Elben. The Imperial Crown Act will now go to the grand duke for final approval.

"Outside was gathered a large continent of Orange Vests who awaited the final vote. Members of the Ducal Gendarmes were present in full riot gear. On the announcment of the vote, there were mixed reactions."

There is a cut to a young man dressed in an orange vest over coveralls of some kind.

"First Neustria, then Pillau, now us."

There is another cut to a trio of attractive young women in chic dresses and stylized orange vests.

"Empire! Bourgogne will set the tone."

There is a cut back to the anchor. "Alain Charnier spoke to the crowd, telling them to have faith in themselves and their elected leaders, that Bourgogne would quote be great again unquote. After Monsieur Charnier's words, the police called for the crowd to break up as dusk was descending on Chagny. The dusk to dawn curfew remains in effect. After this break, we'll have highlights from today's police briefing. Stay with us."

State prosecutor brings charges against officers

Chagny

After a series of arrests last week, the state prosecutor's office has brought charges against a group of police officers in the national police and the ducal gendarmes accused of sympathizing with and covertly aiding terrorist elements Monsieur Loval, chief prosecutor of Chagny, wrote in a statement to the press that several of those arrested were cooperating with authorities and providing information on their contacts both at home and abroad. The terrorists though have formed cells that make rounding up the entire network difficult. Monsieur Loval also said in his statement that those arrested were being confined in special units to ensure their safety.
