SHOELACES ARE A MAFIA, DECLARES IMPERIAL EDICT
(Shahdara) || The Imperial Court has announced that His Majesty Agha Basha has declared all shoelace manufacturers to be a mafia which are determined to offend imperial sensibilities in the Empire of Sikandara. In an Imperial Edict, His Majesty has decreed that the Government must institute tough penalties to the import of footwear bearing shoelaces.

Chancellor Hayreddin, who has been busy in meetings at the Treasury, hastily responded to the Imperial Edict by ordering the immediate impounding of several containers at the port of Azirmeh and the arrest of a number of shoe importers. The Chancellor stated: "The imperial decree is of primacy before the Government, so obviously, we had to delay the discussion on the current account deficit to satisfy His Majesty's order. We assure the nation that this Government will not tolerate shoelaces anymore!"

The main opposition party, the National Party proceeded to burn shoelaces outside the Parliament building as a protest against the shoelace mafia, a move which has drawn praise from the courtiers at the Imperial Court, with many suggesting the move had pleased the Emperor. Sensing political weakness, Chancellor Hayreddin's One Nation Party has announced a larger shoelace burning protest for tomorrow.

OPEN COMMUNIQUE - VHURA MUTARO
The government of the Federation of Natal cannot but be half confused and half concerned by the recent move of the Sikandaran administration, namely the said war against the "Shoelace Mafia". While we try to understand the reason behind what feels a bit of an arbitrary campaign against not potential smugglers but rather against the goods themselves, we are concerned of the health of the Natalian-Sikandari trade and how all this might affect Natalian footwear producers and their exports to the Empire of Sikandara.

With the visit of Prince Fezeddine, we will address this subject, which currently tarnishes the previously cordial and historical good relationship between the Empire and the Federation. Until then we hope that if not the Natalian imported goods, at least the Natalian owned businesses are safe and that the Empire is capable in defending its merchants and shoppers.

The Federation of the Natal ought not to be speaking so brazenly in favour of the shoelace mafia. The imperial edict against the evils of shoelaces does not call for any mercy and the Government shall act in accordance with the supreme will of the Sovereign. We call on Natalian footwear manufacturers to boycott shoelaces and to understand the evil in the devilish device.
