Confederation of Montedoro
In the glory of St. Bernard, the saviour patron saint of all civilized Gallia, the nation of Montedoro bows in gratitude to the day the Kadikistani Union's efforts to install a Leninovist regime in our fair Confederation were soundly defeated by the valiant young men and women of the Revolutionary Guards of Serenierre. The success of our small confederation has shown that fate treated us kindly through vanquishing the evil Leninovist in the 1956 strife.
Yours faithfully,

People's Commissariat for External Affairs
International Building, 103132, Rurik Square, Ivar

First Montedoro and now this. For the second time in history our glorious All-Union was cowardly betrayed by the Villesen crypto-catholic regime. Their reasoning for doing so lies within the belief in their own fabricated perceptions of history. The All-Union never broke the agreements reached during the 1956 Pact of Steel. It was Serenierre who approached Crotobaltislavonia and Ostmark in clear violation of said agreements. From that moment on the All-Union has considered the Pact of Steel unilaterally broken by the People's Republic of Serenierre. Our own actions are the consequence your own treacherous ones.

Now Villesen cowards have once again taken a unilateral decision and blew up 70 years of close economic, scientific and even modest military co-operation along with mutual political tolerance. Hundreds of treaties broken without as much as a phone-call. The economic ramifications of these actions will have severe consequences for both the All-Union and Serenierre. These will be difficult to overcome for us, but at least in the short term nearly impossible for you. We find it difficult to understand what madness drove Martinique to curse her own people with such heavy consequences, likely stealing the future of an entire generation.

We have taken note of this act of aggression against the All-Union and the Rurikgrad Pact. We shall take the appropriate action.

The Republique Populaire shall not engage with crass drivel emanating from Ivar. The true act of aggression has been the membership of a Gallian nation in the corrupt and terrorist organisation headquartered in Rurikgrad. To equate this treachery to that of merely selling equipment to the army of Crotobaltoslavonia shows the malafide intent of the Ivar regime. The delusions of Kadikistani superiority will crumble in time.

The People's Republic of Serenierre has turned its back on its comrades-in-arms and world socialism, preferring instead to align itself with the feudal monarchies of Gallo-Germania in pursuit of domination over the Burgundian People's Republic. This act of betrayal will not be forgotten nor likely forgiven, especially with Serenierre's previous history of ideological sectarianism and backstabbing.

The notion of a Polesian nation state capable of existing as an independent and contributing member of the international community is a truly laughable notion. In an effort to be more environmentally friendly, this Commissariat shall no longer be wasting any resources or time in responding to the puppets of the Ivar regime.

The Glory of the Serazinist Revolution shall triumph!

Premier Martinique, a proponent for Gallian unity, has also condemned the Grand Duchy of Furlanie for concluding a Status Quo Treaty with the Kadikistani Union. She announced: "Effective immediately, Serenierre shall withdraw all diplomatic personnel from Furlanie and expel all Furlanie citizens from Serenierre." The news is also likely to affect the flow of Serenien investment in Furlanie and impact that country's economy.

To the attention of the Serenêr Government

The fact that Martinique doesn't even know the demonym for the people living in Furlanìe already shows the fact that no Friulian besides diplomatic personnel has ever stepped in Serenêr territory, the warmongering nature of Serenere is by itself a deterrent for any sane Friulian. the absence of a real free market, of any touristic interest or particularly interesting industry doesn't help either.
We also do not know of any Serenêr investments, as the talks between Orliac Electric Group Ltd. and Ent Furlane pe Energìe, the only economic cooperation tried between our nations, where stopped without any apparent reason by the Serenêrs themselves.

Villesen will continue to pursue a robust Gallian alliance, says Martinique
Speaking to reporters after a session of the Commissariat of People's Deputies, Premier Martinique said that despite the failure of the Aurarian efforts to establish a Gallian League, the Government of Villesen under her premiership remained committed to a Gallian alliance of considerable scope. She said: "While I had hoped a serious effort across Gallia could have taken place, I think fewer, like-minded nations might be called upon to take the lead if the herd is not willing to take the bold steps needed."

President Hortefeux calls on Montedoro, Asteria, and Pelasgia to stay calm
The Serenien President offered to hold mediatory talks between the three nations in the Western Long Sea which have expressed disagreements over the maritime boundaries and exclusive economic rights over maritime oil drilling rights. President Hortefeux said that he would not like to see disputes which harm the safety of international trade and was entirely willing to open the doors of the presidential chateau in Villesen to seek an end to any tensions.

SUCCESSION: Martinique on the wane?
By Professor Bernard Millerand (University of Villesen Press, 2020)

Eleven years ago, Elisabeth Martinique emerged as one of the most inspiring and prolific leaders in the Communist Party of Serenierre and wrested control of the party leadership from a generation of tired old men. Since then, she emerged as an important figure on the international stage and also domestically, leading her Bloc within the Party to two victories in the General Proletariat elections. Thus, perhaps, it can be safe to say that after Generalissimo Serazin, Premier Martinique is the next leader of the country to have left an indelible mark on the history of this nation.

Although, despite claiming otherwise, the rank and file of the next generation of the Party is said to be already forming blocs in clandestine meetings. This book explores the various senior leaders and finally concludes that the post-Martinique political scene will be dominated by three personalities (at least on the liberal wing of the Party): Bernard Lavosnier, Herve Bettancourt, and the new entrant to the Politburo Athenais Diderot.

It remains to be seen whether the other Blocs in the Commissariat of People’s Deputies would change in a post-Martinique dynamic. Professor Millerand may well be advised to address that question in his next publication.

GALLIA UNDER THREAT OF FOREIGN OCCUPATION
Ancient Gallian nations surrender sovereignty to foreign overlords

The notion of Gallian sovereignty is under threat. Fellow Comrades, this is not a hyperbolic statement, this is a fact. Never before has the ancient continent witnessed such total occupation of its shores by foreign overlords. To the north, the old heart of Gallia, Bourgogne stands divided and ruled by two foreign powers - the Elben despots for the east and the Kadikistani hordes for the west. And now, rumours circulate of Aurarian capitulation before the self proclaimed democratic nations gang. All reasonable and right thinking Gallians ought to be ashamed to see the ancient motherland be subjected to such a fate.

We have seen countless attempts by these evil forces to snuff the flame of the Serazinist Revolution and this nation has stood firm across the decades. When the current lot of alliances will fray, those who abandon Gallian unity shall find themselves regretting the course of their actions. The abject rejection of Gallia by some misguided individuals in positions of power shall only result in their humiliation in due course.

Once again the Republique Populaire finds its frontiers surrounded on all sides by forces working to snuff the Serazinist flame and once again we, as a nation, must look to the strength of our national character and to the example of St. Bernard to ensure the Triumph of the Proletarian continues. In the 1950s, when this nation of ours was surrounded by monarchists and reactionary states, this nation stood firm and strong and established itself as a regional actor. We now must adopt the same posturing and ensure our nation survives at all costs.

Anti-ODS rally held outside Aurarian Embassy
With a strong body of police personnel deployed all around the periphery of the Embassy of Auraria, a large demonstration has taken place in Villesen against the Gallian country's membership into the Organisation of Democratic States. According to the Chief Commissioner of Police, the crowds are said to number somewhere between 30,000 to 45,000 and are protesting by standing silently, each holding a bouquet of white roses (traditionally given on funerals in Serenierre).

The rally was organised by Mademoiselle Marie-Athenais Diderot, 34, who is one of the up and coming leaders of the Communist Party of Serenierre and belongs to the ruling Martinique Bloc. She is said to be an ideological hardliner for Gallian unity and is known for her passionate vlogs defending the continued propagation of Gallian regionalism in Serenien politics. Although, it remains doubtful that the Martinique politburo has authorised the campaign. Mlle. Diderot is known for her conflicting views on a number of points with the senior Martinique Bloc leadership.

The protest of white roses is expected to end by the evening. The Chief Commissioner of Police has informed members of the press that they expect the front of the Aurarian Embassy to smell of roses for the foreseeable future due to the bouquets that the protesters are intent on leaving behind at the main gates.

ANTI-ODS DEMONSTRATION CONTINUES IN VILLESEN FOR SECOND DAY
16,000 strong demonstration outside Embassy of Auraria

The demonstration against Aurarian membership of the Organisation of Democratic States (ODS) has continued in Villesen for a second day. The Rue de Batholemy has been sealed to traffic today as demonstrators have conducted a sit in. All around the Aurarian embassy, thousands of bouquets of white roses have been placed and the air is full of the scent of the flowers left behind from the day before. The Police Commissioner of Villesen has stated that the mood of the demonstrators is calm and a make shift stage has been erected outside the main gate of the Embassy where traditional Gallian folk songs are being sung.

The main organizer of the event, Marie-Athenais Diderot, has continued to play host to the demonstration and has announced that she would quit the Martinique Bloc if the Government does not seriously address the concerns of Serenien people at the breakdown of Gallian cultural bonds "...at the hand of foreign imperialist powers." Mlle. Diderot has been a Vice President within the ruling bloc of the Party since earlier this year and is seen as a rising voice in Serenien politics. She is currently the People's Deputy from Bonfleur in the Commissariat of People's Deputies.

The Commissar for External Relations, M. Bernard Lavosnier, has visited the Aurarian embassy by helicopter and met with the Ambassador to discuss the situation. The Central Government has assured the international community that it shall ensure full security for all diplomatic missions in the capital.

Eserland's foreign policy, the next flash point?
Article by Sophie Menard

WHEN THIS YEAR BEGAN, Premier Elisabeth Martinique had no idea that it would prove to be her most difficult year in her eleven years in office. As we mark Summer Solstice soon, we note with increasing concern that the map of Gallia stands transformed. The great historic rival Bourgogne is divided between the Empires of Ivar and Eschenbach, the Republic of Auraria has refused to join in the vision of a united Gallia citing "policy differences", and the Commonwealth of Nedernesie is on the cusp of joining the Democratic Defense Initiative, which seems a foregone conclusion given their secondary status to the Pohjaamaan nation. And of course to the west, out to the sea sits the great Engellexic enigma.

Keen readers will note that those nations represent the east and the south and the west. But what of the north? Eserland, which shares a small land border with our country, also is engaged in a national discussion involving alliance politics, as it mulls where its loyalties lie. In the frigid DDI or as Premier Martinique has started calling it, the odious ODS. But such a course of action would entirely surround this country of ours with potentially hostile forces. The question for Serenien policy makers now is how does one handle a country which has rebuffed Villesen (big surprise there!) and also safeguard the national security of this country.

The turn of events has proven to be especially concerning to members of the Martinique Bloc in the Commissariat of People's Deputies, where the establishment of the Diderot Bloc has been seen as a direct challenge to the authority of the existing order, not merely for Elisabeth Martinique's premiership but to the current generation of leadership within the Communist Party's system of bloc politics. In this mix, if we see the nascent White Rose Movement, which has shown to emerge from nowhere but masterfully corralled by Mademoiselle Diderot who has turned the whole event outside the Aurarian embassy into a cultural festival celebrating Gallia while at the same time building up her own political profile. Just today, I saw one of her twated messages being reblogged by some random Pelasgian journalists. It is truly amazing how quickly her profile has risen.

This marks a turning point for the hitherto strident Elisabeth Martinique, who now faces a situation wherein her strong suit - foreign policy - lies entirely in the dust bin of history.

LABOUR SOLIDARITY LEAGUE TO CHALLENGE DRUG PRICE HIKE
Government to face stiff resistance in the Parlement

Marie Helene Augustin, the leader of the Labour Solidarity League (LSL), has announced her party's disapproval of the recent drug price hike announced by the Ministry of Health and Narcotics Control last week and expected to take effect at the start of April. In her statement, Mme. Augustin criticized the Government's "pro-business" policy change and argued that the Minister of Health and Narcotics Control had improperly promulgated the regulatory change allowing the latest price hike. The statement, which has been endorsed by the other LSL parliamentarians, numbering 50 in total, concluded with a claim that the LSL would file a constitutional petition before the High Court of Villesen to seek judicial review of the change.

President Nicolas Serazin has indicated that he will support Prime Minister Maximilien Hortefeux in the challenge - however, the President has, of yet, not issued a formal statement backing the drug price hike. This comes as the President and Prime Minister have been reportedly dealing with a series of disagreements on the monetary and fiscal policy framework envisaged for the next phase of implementation of Vision 2050 - the government's long-term plan for the country's economic direction. Whether these policy differences indicate cracks in the relationship between the Presidency and the Prime Minister's Office on a wider level remains a mystery at this stage. However, it is plain that Prime Minister Hortefeux's Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) is in power only with the confidence and supply of support from President Serazin's Social Democratic Party (SDPS). Whether the split in the ruling coalition will result in a stronger playing field for the LSL remains to be seen.
