The initiative of the NGO "Equal under the Law" to sue the Imperial Family of Justosia for libel is difficult. Indeed, Twatter is an international medium. Whatever you say, is potentially read by everyone in the world. We have full understanding for the fact that "Equal under the Law" feels offended by the fact that members of the Justosian Imperial Family calls non-noble people "commoners", but we consider it tricky if a citizen of for instance Engellex is prosecuted against for saying something on Twatter that he or she is not allowed to say in Kadikistan, and that becomes even trickier when that Engellexian citizen is facing charges in for instance Auraria for saying something he or she is not allowed to say under Kadikistani law. We have to find a position on this.

The Kuningkogu votes for limited liberalisation

While the complete liberalisation of the corporatist economy has been deemed a success in the region of Ugandi where it was first set up more than a decades ago. The liberalisation process, decided upon by a decree of State Elder Arti Allik, as a way to fight the extreme recession from the 1999 crisis, came with the complete disestablishment of the corporations in Ugandi, and the privatisation of more than 90% of the publicly owned companies. It was seen as a too radical change, and the first few years that even deepened the crisis in Ugandi brought an end to the political career of State Elder Allik. But today, Ugandi has risen to become a success story of the Virunian economy and it's "shock therapy" recipe was recommended by many liberal economists all over the world and was followed up in limited form by the counties of Huti, Rand and Vaike.

The election of State Elder Koit Sokk two years ago, and his promise to rejuvenate the nation has made many believe that it is but a matter of time that the whole national economy will move from it's corporatist model into a fully fledged liberal economy, but change seems to be waiting. The push for reform that brought the election of the young Elbener prince Johann Maria von Eschenbach as the Apostolic King and his investiture on the Driftwood Throne as King Paavo III was followed by the
appointment of several technocrats in the cabinet and by a boom in construction in Lounamaad and in the energy sector in the north. But since then, the push for reforms has slowly died down.

The Kuningkogu, the Royal Assembly has been assembled today to vote on what it was called an "Economic Reform Bill", a vote that has been approved by 320 votes for and 80 votes against. The Bill, stated that newly created privately owned companies can work independently and freely, without needing to be part of a corporation of a "Production Union", a federation of employees that brings together companies that work in the same field, very similar to a medieval guild. While this isn't the far reaching economic reform that so many liberal economists hailed, it still is an important step.

The newly created companies will put the corporations to a test and will force them, under the pressure of competition to either offer their goods at reduced prices, offer better quality and/or become more
innovative, with the latter being seen as the main issue of the corporatist economy. Under the new law, newly created companies, or self-employed people will be able to save some money from not paying the membership fees of a corporation, but they might face some problems as they won't enjoy the perks of being into one such as being part of a union for having a healthcare or life insurace, all of those needing to be taken on a case by case basis.

"We have taken this decision because we observe how the world lost some of the optimism it had two or three years ago, in which the idea of applying the Ugandi experiment for the whole nation was being prevalent. The the Burgundian revolution, the Pelasgian regime change, the 7 Day War and now, new spats in Gallo-Germania show us that we approach again a period that might be quite volatile and a complete liberalisation will make us extremely vulnerable, should conflagrations start again. As of yet, we feel that Gallo-Germania is a powderkeg and that the 7 Day War might have been just a training for the big conflict to come, and this concerns us, especially when besides the Northern Tiburan Empire and the Kadikistani Union, there are so many Gallo-Germanian nations that we see as our economic partners. The issue of the liberation or reform of the corporatist economy will still be kept on the table, but to not push the Virunians into a vulnerable position, it must be discussed only in a decent international environment," stated State Elder Koit Sokk in the press conference that followed up the vote.

Critics of the motion and of the National People's Action, coming from the bench of independents in the Kuningkogu, have stated that they see this as the biggest extent the government will go to "de-corporatise" the economy, which is to just tinker corporatism, not reform it or replace it.

OTHER NEWS
Winter weather in Pohjamaad: While first signs of spring start to appear in Lounamaad, with days being now already over 14 hours long, a cold front coming from the pole and the Snieg Ocean will bring low temperatures in the north, with -20 degrees expected in Pohjalinn and Vendra and -15 in Imavere. In the first days it will be sunny, but very windy and drifting snow conditions will be expected in the north, but by the beginning of the next week, snow showers are to be expected in Saaremaa and Sakala.
"Polar Ghost Cities" trending on Dagerrogram: The image of the post-industrial abandoned cities from the sub-polar north of Virumaa is attracting more and more tourists interested in discovering the past, namely the colonisation push for the north that took place during the National-Syndicalist Regime, between 1957 and 1985. Many of the new towns built then in Pohjamaad, Sakala and Saaremaa have long since been abandoned after the reformation of the regime and stand as an open air museum showing the fight against nature that man lost.

State Elder visits Boreal Auto plant - In the context of the Folxmashin scandal continuing, especially in the efforts of the Eiffellander government to stop the functioning of the Polesian Auto industry, State Elder Koit Sokk has visited the Boreal Auto plant situated in the Kalamaja suburb of Kuressaare, part of the National Corporation of Automobile Makers. He spoke with the directors of the company about how important their and their employees' efforts are in generating wealth for the whole of the nation and he encouraged them to continue the good work they have been doing in providing the nation and the neighbouring countries with affordable yet good quality cars and spare parts. Boreal Auto has been founded in 1945 and after the signing of the High North Status Quo Treaty, has found that the Kadikistani Union has been their biggest market, with the Boreal K3 sedan card being very popular in the All-Union and their Rurikgrad Pact allies. There are some concerns that the success of the Folxmashin might bring an end to the success of Boreal in the Kadikistani and socialist markets. This concern is shared with appliance makers such as Arctic or Jää, which have enjoyed the presence of the "Virunian Quality" myth in the Kadikistani Union.

Fenniad commences for 2020 - Virumaa's biggest amateur sporting event in the year, taking place over the span of two months in the spring, so as to have both summer sports, played in Lounamaad, and winter sports, played in Pojhamaad, will soon begin and will be presided over by the Minister of Youth and Sport, Valdur Kalda. Usually opened only for Virunian amateur athletes, from which the best usually have the chance to move on to profession sports, the 2019 Fenniad was opened to athletes from the Northern Tiburan Empire, Ostmark and the Vaquero Free State. Now, in 2020, it has been decided that the Fenniad will be opened to all the Fenno-Yugric peoples, with invitations issued to athletes from Pohjanmaa, Kalidi (Calidia) and the Naritsok and Spretska SRs, where the Yamalians live in the Kadikistani Union. A special invitation has been issued to Linnart Saaremaa, a Yamalian Archer from the All-Union, which the National Federation of Archery of Virumaa considers one of the best long distance archers of all time. "As much as the countries invited to this year Fenniad are so much different politically, we still are part of the same cultural family. Sport is here to build bridges," stated Valdur Kalda

Green Guard ready to aid Nedernesia - The Green Guard, the gendarmerie unit of the Ministry of Interior has stated that they are ready to begin search and rescue operations in the damaged areas of Vrijpoort in the Commonwealth of Nedernesia, with the number of Green Guard volunteers stating that they want to come rising to more than a thousand already. The 1986 Ahja Earthquake is still rooted in the collective mentality of the Virunians, as it destroyed 75% of the town of Ahja and completely razed three villages, killing more than two thousand people. For this, suffering caused by an earthquake and the fear of an incoming tsunami is striking a cord withing the Virunians, many stating that they want to jump to help the neighbouring Commonwealth of Nedernesia. As of yet, the Ministry of the Health has stated that already 150 medics have put themselves on the list ready to be shipped there as volunteers to come to aid, while a series of charities are already collecting to send supplies to Vrijpoort. "They are not alone. The international community must stand behind them and Virumaa will be there for the Nedernesians," stated State Elder Koit Sisask.

His Apostolic Majesty's Easter Address

As Easter approaches and Tiburan Catholics, protestants, reformed and evangelicals across the world are coming together to celebrate the Resurrection of Christ and commemorate the moment in which the son of God has sacrificed himself to cleanse the sins of humankind, showing through it that he is the true son of God.

For this, His Apostolic Majesty, King Paavo III has addressed the nation, offering words of compassion and hope for the Virunian people and not only, espousing his very own aspirations that at this holiest of times, the world comes together in faith and celebration, rather than continue the downward spiral of tension and destruction. After he has taken the throne two years ago, Prince Johann Maria von Eschenbach, while respecting his Germanian ancestry, has become as great of a Virunian as any of us, speaking the language fluently and taking the regnal name of Paavo, after the national saint of the nation and after the first king, after the State of the Holy Order of the Brothers of the Sword was secularised and transformed in 1600 into the present day Apostolic Kingdom.

"Esteemed and dear
citizens of Virumaa. As we approach the holy day, I wish to offer my respects to all of you and wish you all a happy Easter. May the light of Christ's resurrection be bestowed on all of you as we all come together to enjoy Christianity's most important celebration.

I know that this year has been hard, as we still live with the tense premonition that the 7 Day War of two years ago might have been only a training ground for the larger, greater conflagration, and that recent events do nothing to alleviate this feeling. To the south, the Eiffellandian and Polesian governments continue to clash in the unending Folxmashin scandal, that is as
unnecessary as the danger this escalation poses. In the north, across the sea, our neighbours from Nedernesia, have been hit by one of the strongest earthquakes this part of the world has seen in recent times. We have send aid to them, because we do remember, how struck we were by such a cataclysm back in 1986.

To all those suffering now, or living in fear of future suffering I invite you all, for only a few minutes, today at
midnight, to light a candle and pray to God. Be relieved, if only for a few minutes, with the hopes that in this holy day, Christ's supreme sacrifice has cleansed us of sins and we are now all, in God's hands. To those who feel nothing of the before mentioned, content and happy with their life and close to their loved ones, I invite you too, to do the same, light a candle and for a few minutes, pray and thank God for the good life and happiness that you enjoy now.

For the Driftwood Throne, Easter is a very important celebration, as on the Easter of 1090, the Holy Brothers of the Sword have signed the treaty of Arensburg, replacing the old viking kingdom of the Eastern Fjords with the State of the Order, centred on the city that would later become Kuressaare. On the Easter of 1600, Grandmaster Paavo Tamm decided to secularise the order and transformed the State of the Order into the Apostolic Kingdom, making the step to turn end the Burgo-Germanian minority rule of the order and returning to real, Virunian rule of those lands. We remember and keep in our thoughts all the efforts and martyriages that our ancestors have gone through, to keep our nation strong, independent and sovereign.

I know, I am away from my own family, which is based in Eschenbach, but here at Kadriorg I am surrounded by a new family, a family that has fifteen million members. And for that, I invite you all, to light a candle this evening and make at least one good deed. Keep your loved ones close by and never forget to keep God in your heart too. Thank you all!"

Religious Orders to help the most unfortunate: The Holy Order of the Sword Brethren and the Order of Saint Dumas have come together and decided to begin and avenue of cooperation in which they will offer aid to the most unfortunate peoples of Gallo-Germania. Currently, the "Easter Smile" Campaign has them offer food and supplies to the most impoverished in Virumaa and the Northern Tiburan Empire, in Gunnland, Elben and Ducal Burgundy, but there are plans to enlarge this action and even build medical clinics aid aid the most vulnerable all over the continent.

State Elder calls for Constitutional Referendum
"The new proposed constitution would offer a better voice to the legislative and end blockages like the Royal Vacancy," stated his excellency, Koit Sokk

After a joint meeting of the Central Committee of the Rahvuslik Rahvaaktsioon, the National People's Action and the Royal Council, His Excellency Koit Sokk, the State Elder has decreed that very soon, the Virunian citizens will be called to the polls to vote in a constitutional referendum, which in his words, will "correct the shortcomings of the current constitutional status quo, which is prone to crises and blockages."

The current Virunian constitution has been set up in 1957, after the fall of the 10 month long Beckerist communist regime, and has been amended in 1985, with the advent of the Kompot Corporatism phase. Originally it stands on the skeleton of the 1885 constitution, which brands the Virumaa an Apostolic Kingdom with an elective monarchy.

The Elective Monarchy has been an element of the Virunian politics since 1600, when the State of the Holy Order of the Sword Brethren was secularised and transformed into a Kingdom, with the leading council of the Order being turned into Dukes, which had the right to be elected as kings. This system has been seen even from the start as archaic by the more developed monarchies of Gallo-Germania and prone to crises as the rules the Royal Council was functioning by were stating that one member needed the support of two thirds of the council to become king, something that was very hard to achieve. Royal Vacancies over the Driftwood throne were seen often, some being as short as only a week, to the worst being the Great Royal Vacancy Crisis which lasted 33 years, from 1987 to 2018.

State Elder Koit Sokk has come forward with a proposition of a constitutional change, that will put the Driftwood Throne in it's strongest ever position since 1600, by changing the nature of the succession, from an elective to a hereditary monarchy, in which the first born male of the current king is the first in line of the succession. Should the king have to sons, the succession moves to his brothers and the sons of his brothers and should he have none of those to his uncles from his father's side of the family and so on. In the exceptional case of an end of the male line, as it happened in Ducal Bourgogne, the proposed constitution calls for the recreation of the Royal Council, to elect a new king and a new dynasty to occupy the Driftwood Throne. With Paavo III von Eschenbach being a foreign king, in case he leaves the throne before he has any offspring, the throne won't be surrendered to his brothers of his uncle, the King of Elben, but rather the Royal Council would be immediately called in to elect a new Apostolic Monarch.

While the members of the Central Committee have shown their approval of this change in succession law, the nobility, the members of the Royal Council have expressed their criticism to it, because they fear that this will thoroughly make them lose any last influence they had over the affairs of the nation. To this, the State Elder has come up with the approved idea of a return of bicameralism in the legislative of Virumaa and the replacement of the Kuningkogu, the current unicameral house of the parliament with a lower Chamber of Deputes, to be called Saadikutekoda, and an upper house, called the Chamber of Peers, or the Eakaaslaste Maja. This will literally copy the bicameralism of the pre-1985 legislative. The current members of the Kuningkogu will be transfered to the Chamber of Deputes, while the members of the Royal Council will be given seats in the House of Peers. The name Kuningkogu will still be used to refer to the parliament as a whole.

"It is imperative that we strive to create a legislative system that is very well streamlines and is organised in such a way that there will be no more crises brought by parliamentary blockages and episodes such as a royal vacancy. Virumaa is incomplete without it's apostolic king and the chronic crises that ensued with the lack of necessary support candidates found did nothing but to continuously weaken the fabric of our statehood and sovereignty. We will work at our best to create an environment which makes the nation and the people reach new heights in power and prosperity," stated his Excellency, Koit Sokk, State Elder of Virumaa.

Virunians are expected soon to vote in a referendum in regards to this constitutional amendment, bringing back parliamentarian bicameralism and the replacement of the elective monarchy into a hereditary one.

OTHER NEWS
Polar Line to Vendra reopened: After more than six years of work in extremely harsh conditions, the Polar Line, linking the capital of the North, Imavere to Vendra, the northernmost port in the country, capital of the Duchy of Sakala, has been reopened to passenger and freight use. This will reduce the time travel from Kuressaare to Vendra by more than 5 or 6 hours, from 15 to 9, because of the many restrictions put in place during the construction process. Train travel is the most popular and cheapest form of long distance travelling in the country, as internal flights are quite few and expensive, with the exception of the ones linking the Saaremaa archipelago to the mainland.
Warm front from Germania: A warm front from Germania is expected to heat up the atmosphere in Lounamaad, bringing 17 degrees in Kuressaare and Kerdla and signalling the beginning of the sowing season in Ugandi and Lounamaad. Meteorologists believe that the front won't be able to break the barrier of the Raasiku Mountains and won't really be felt in Pohjamaad, where temperatures are will raging between 0 to 10 degrees.

Nation approves the constitutional changes in referendum vote

The constitutional changes proposed by State Elder Koit Sokk, of Maapeod (Country Party) have been approved by the Virunian citizens in a referendum that took place yesterday and now the Royal Electoral Bureau has published the results. With a record breaking turnout of 87% of the people eligible to vote, 68% of the voters have shown their support in the constitutional changes, 31% were against, and a little under 1% have either been invalidated or left blank.
You must be registered for see images
The constitutional proposals have called for an amendment of the way the legislative worked and of the succession rules for the monarchy. While Virumaa has been a parliamentarian monarchy and a hotbed of liberalism compared to other Northern Germanian countries, since 1701, the current unicameral legislative has been created by the communist regime between 1956 and 1958, and it was kept like that by the later National-Syndicalist regime and then by the post 1985 democratic governments too. His Excellency, Koit Sokk and the Maapeod, together with the Naerisliig (the Turnip League) have proposed a return to the classical bicameralism that functioned in Virumaa from the end of the 19th century to the mid 1950s, and thus the replacement of the current Kuningkogu, with a lower house, which will be represented by the current members of the parliament, and an upper house, which will be at first made out of the members of the new defunct Royal Council, to which elected officials will be added too.
The system will be an imperfect bicameralism, in which the House of Peers, the upper house will act more like a consultative house, while the House of Deputes, the lower house, because it has the executive responsible to it, will have the main power. There will be certain elements in which the House of Peers can overrule a decision by the House of Deputes in cases of non-constitutionalism especially.
The other issue would be the change of the succession rules for the Apostolic King standing on the Driftwood Throne, from an elective monarchy to a hereditary one, in which the first born, be it male or female of the current king will succeed to the throne. The elective monarchy functioned in Virumaa since 1650, when the state of the Order was secularised and transformed into the modern day Apostolic Monarchy. The elective system, was presented as the perfect way of giving a chance to most of the nobles of the Kingdom to become kings has shown its ineffectiveness after continuous crises which brought blockages and vacancies for the Driftwood Throne, as the rules of succession stated that a candidate needed two thirds of the votes of the Royal Council to ascend to the throne. The Longest of such vacancies took place very recently and lasted more than 20 years, before the Elbener Prince Johann Maria von Eschenbach was invited to occupy the Driftwood Throne and become King Paavo III.
The newly voted succession laws state that the von Eschenbachs will be cemented as the ruling dynasty in Virumaa, with the condition that the King will have any descendants. If not, to not repeat Burgundian affair, the Royal Council will be reformed to find a new dynasty and nominate a new king.
"It is a moment in which all Virunians should rejoice as with their vote they have pushed on for the modernisation and further democratisation of our nation. With this, we have managed to finally put an end to the Vacancies of the Driftwood Throne and the crises that stemmed from that and with the return to bicameralism, we have legitimised again the democratic value of our current political status quo. Unicameralism was imposed on us by the Becker and later by the National-Corporatist regimes who wanted to be sure that there is no institution that blocked them from leaving the country into their despotic nightmares. It is a shame that we needed 35 years to finally understand that we need to return back to bicameralism, but I am glad that we managed to make the push and with this returned Virumaa back to its normal, before all the upheaval from the 50s," stated State Elder Koit Sokk.

Labour Day Marches: The Marxist-Leninovist Vasakpartei and the social democratic Vabadus, and their affiliated trade unions have organised marches for Labour Day, on the 1st of May. The Blue Guard had to intervene to be sure that the two groups didn't meet in the street as to avoid any violence or issues. The biggest parade was the one organised by Vabadus, along the Koidu Boulevard in Kuressaare, amassing more than 25,000 party and union members. The Vasakpartei members have visited Ahja, where they have laid flowers for the victims of the Winter War "whom have fought for the liberation of Virumaa," in the lands in which "Sergei Moravscik has showed them the way".
Weather: Around Kuressaare and the south, sunny weather and temperatures of up to 20 degrees will make for a perfect ocassion to barbecue and sunbathe. In the Raasiku mountains, lower temperatures are expected, especially on the peaks, but it will still be sunny. Clouds will cover only the islands of Saaremaa.

Authorities confiscate the "Radek Money". Proclaims CBS a Narco-State
The "Radek Money", a fund of 5 Billion Krooni that was intended to be used by a radical splitter group from the National-Corporatist Party to buy the necessary loyalties in the military to organise a coup that failed two years ago, after staying in limbo for all this time, have finally been confiscated by the Ministry of Finance. The Radek Investigation has started two years ago after a large sum of money, which is estimated to have been much larger than the current 5 billion Krooni fund, has disappeared from the treasury of the national bank of Crotobaltislavonia after it was purported that they would have been used by General Radek to organise a coup d'etat against the then dictator of the country, Raoul Farrago. The money seemed to have been stolen by the Jaak Kalda Group, a radical group that has split from the National-Corporatist Party which was planning a coup d'etat in Virumaa too bring back the National-Syndicalist regime that led the country in a dark chapter of its history from 1957 to 1985.
It seemed that the Jaak Kalda Group, named after their eponymous leader, have used their underground networking to hear about the Blud Cartels trying us launder the money and in the chaos that Crotobaltislavonia has been in the past years, they have set up a heist in which they managed to win the trust of some of the refugees fleeing CBS after the Radek coup failed and tricked them into hiding the money in Virumaa, which they later stole. The Kalda Group then tried to use the money to buy the loyalty of some similarly ideological leaning elements of the Blue Guards and the Catholic and Royal Army, being captured and arrested for conspiring to a coup d'etat and high treason against the constitutional status quo a few months later.
While the money resurfaced by mid 2019, in the account of the Keskpank, owned by a Yamalian refugee that was born in Kadikistan, the sum was embroiled in a very long investigation and trial, as the chaotic way the Kalda Group tried to cover their steps, which went as far as the aforementioned Yamalian refugee, living in Pohjalinn, Saaremaa, didn't even know that he had an account for Keskpank, let alone 5 Billion Krooni in it, had to be fully uncovered and the route the money took from CBS to all the Virunian bank accounts had to be discovered.
Earlier in April, the Financial Guard, a wing of the police service under the orders of the ministry of finance, whose duties are to uncover financial and white collar crimes have observed that in reality, the money wasn't stolen from the Central Bank of Crotobaltislavonia, as it was thought, but rather it was an income that came from drug production and trafficking activities, and that the Central Bank of CBS was used to clean the money and make it usable.
As of today, the Kuressaare Tribunal has announced the verdict of the process and has announced that the three members of the Kalda Group, besides their previous convictions, will also receive an additional 5 years for money laundering and identity theft, and the "Radek Money" has been officially confiscated by the National Anti-Drug Agency. The problem for the authorities in Banja Luka is that with the involvement of the said fund with the histories of the higher ups of the current regime, state institutions and its origin as drug money, as the Central Germanian nation is known for it's Blud scene, this makes Crotobaltislavonia a full on narco-state, in the eyes of Kuressaare.
While the government didn't comment on it, especially when the instability of the past years in CBS made Virunian assets negligible, some analysts have stated that while the Blud scene going so far up in the leadership in Banja Luka was an open secret, such an open statement, might hurt the already damaged international prestige of CBS even more.

Financial Conduct Authority

It is of great concern to us that the Polesian Blud cartels were supposedly able to launder money through a central bank of a sovereign state. Although money laundering is unfortunately quite common, it is not easy to do and requires thorough knowledge of complex financial systems. We kindly ask our partners with the Virumaan Financial Guard to share information regarding this case so that we may learn from your work and better decide on whether we should also enact sanctions against CBS institutions.
