“Lad os tale øl og filosofi.”
The most famous bar in all of Gothenhagen, Ølrepubliken. They call it the beer republic. It’s some place of a favorite among locals and it’s become overrun by tourists alike. They make great coffee and tea as well before bar hours. Gothenhagen is a special city. It’s not just a port city, but also a neutral one. It’s Europe’s most premier neutral setting. Everyone is welcome to the Two Kingdoms, and as a result a lot of informal diplomacy happens here. Unlikely partners can meet without anyone knowing, because everyone has an embassy here. Even the World Permanent Conference is here, just a few blocks south of here, so even the organizations have somebody to talk to. As a result a lot of seedy folk swing by. They look for the cover of a crowd. They look for the cover of alcohol. Anything said in here is just crazy talk, right? Diplomats, spies, businessmen, even a smuggler, or a shadowy clandestine fella might show up here. They have a saying here... let’s talk beer and philosophy. We’ll give you the best beer, we just hope you can back up your philosophy after a few. We’ve seen a bar fight or two here. Anything is possible at the beer republic, but nothing too out of control. We’re a little bit folk, we’re a little bit soul. Take a seat, drink an øl.

“They say that there is a price their head. My team wants to claim it. Dead or alive. I’ve got a good team, and I plan to make sure that your goal to rebalance the Gothic Sea region works just as you want it to.”

“...but who is offering this price? How can I claim my pay if I don’t know who to hold accountable?”

“I cannot say that I actively listen to the conversations spoken here. I can say that sometimes men speak more loudly than they think they do. I hear many threats. People get angry sometimes. Sometimes a drunk gets too talkative. I am a bartender. People tell me things. I can say that if you are looking for some dollars for a target, they come from the Council of the North or Justosia these days. At least in the Gothic Sea. The Communists have been very quiet as of late. I worry for my countrymen.”

He was 175 cm tall, average for a southern Gallo-Germanian or a northern Himyar, but a bit short compared to the northerners. He was wearing contact lenses that made his eyes dark brown to hide his heterochromia, as naturally he had one green and one hazel eye. The light brown hair that he had gave him a more nordic look, so he preferred to go by the name of Knut, even though he had a fake Larsian passport, under the name of Dario Galletti.

He came to the Ølrepubliken as he knew it was a hotspot for all sorts of criminals, spies, interlopers and other, more dangerous kinds of dubious characters. He knew this was the place he needed to contact someone to get some help for his mission. He looked at Lars, the barman and for a second, as he thought of the unsavoury characters running around and he thought that this might be one of the most dangerous jobs to have in the Two Kingdoms.

He went to the counter and for a moment, when the barman finished with another customer and he was sure no one was listening, he pushed towards the barman a big note of Rigsdaler and looked around to be sure that no one was too intrusive.

"I imagine you hear all kinds of stories here," Knut said smiling. "I need a favour. Show me someone around here who can help me get into Loago," he said whispering.
