[Ionia]

ΙΡΤ (Pronounced: IRT) is Ionia's State owned News Group. It includes the Ionon Thesis (᾿Ιώνων Θέσις) newspaper and various Television and Radio Channels (the most well known of whcih are IRT 1, IRT 3, NIT and Vouli -Βουλή; the channel of the Ionian Parliament which broadcasts the sessions of Parliament on live TV as well as documentaries, concerts of classical music and various Political Analysis shows with representatives from all sides of the political spectrum). It broadcasts both domestically and abroad, and projects national and international news from an Ionian standpoint. At times issues from major private Ionian newspapers may be posted in this thread.

Eiffelland and Nichtstein invited to diplomatic meeting! Ionia purchases Eiffellander Police cars!

Today the Ionian government invited the governments of the Kingdom of Eiffelland and the Grand Duchy of Nicthstein to a diplomatic meeting in Athenai. The three nearby nations, have always enjoyed friendly and warm relations and the King believed it a most opportune time to formalise the friendship of the three countries. At the same time Ionia ordered a new series of Police cars from Eiffelland's car industry to equip the Ionia Police Force.

Eiffelland and Nichtstein accept invite! Ionian Royal Family attends Tiburan Imperial Marriage! State and Mayoral elections commence!

The Kingdom of Eiffelland and Grand Duchy of Nichtstein have accepted Ionia's invite to a diplomatic meeting. At the same time the production of Ionian Police Cars ordered from Eiffelland has commenced, and Ionia has paid a quarter of the cost in advance. On to nearby Tiburia, where the Ionian Royal Family attended the Tiburian Royal Marriage. The King, Queen and Royal Offspring brought their best wishes to the Tiburian Imperial Couple and gifted them a life-size replica Tiburian Trireme, made by the Royal Ionian Shipyards. Finally the Mayoral and State elections have commenced with thousands across the Confederacy rushing to vote in their Politicians of choice.

Cantonan and Mayoral election results! Major Kentroa Enosis victory!

The Cantonan and Mayoral elections have ended in an astonishing Kentroa Enosis victory. The centrist Royal Government has now solidified its power across the Confederacy. According the official results released by the Royal Electoral Commission and its branches in the various Cantons of the Confederacy the Kentroa Enosis achieved a victory in 11 of the 13 Cantons of the Confederacy and in all but two major cities of the country, earning 1 Canton and Major City more than in the previous Cantonan and Mayoral elections.

Arrentine Empire attempts to falsely accuse Ionian of breaches of human rights and to claim Ionian island near Eiffelland! Ionian Mutual Defence Agreement with Eiffelland and Nichtstein! Ionia alerts troops to stand by in case of Arrentine attack and notifies allies! 2nd Ionian Declaration of Neutrality! Ionian Declaration supported by Ommeroth! Ionian Navy sees further enlargement and modernization in response to increased piracy! Joint allied military exercises in the Ionian Archipelago!

The Arrentine Empire attempted to somehow claim that Naxos, an Ionian island on the other side of the Long Sea near Eiffelland is Arrentine and that the residents whcih it claimed were of Arrentine ancestry requested its help to defend them against Ionian breaches of human rights. The Ionian Government responded by dismissing the ridiculous statement made by the so called "Empire", whcih only served to ridicule the Arrentine government in the eyes of the free world. Many international newspapers have shown cartoons with the Arrentine Emperor taking geography lessons and mistaking Naxos for Lesbos. Ionia recently signed a Mutual Defence Agreement with Eiffelland, named the Long Sea Mutual Defence Treaty. Ionia has alerted her forces in Naxos and has also notified her allies of the Arrentine Empire's attempts at expansion into Ionian territory. The Arrentien Empire's recent militarist expansion has caused an uproar of international reaction. Yesterday the Ionian Confederacy made its 2nd Declaration of Permanent Neutrality, an updated version of the first. Our friends at Ommeroth declared their satisfaction at this action. Finally the proud Ionian Navy, already considered one of the world's best, has announced a new Multi-Billion Drachma Enlargement and Modernization program, whcih aims to bring it at the cutting edge of Naval Military technology and power. The program whcih has already begun is a response to the increasing tendency of piracy in the Long Sea. The Navy has also begun joint exercises with the Air Force and Army in the Ionian Archipelago, while Ionia's allies are also to take part in joint exercises in the same area.

We in the Rzeczpospolita must express our concern over reports of increased Ionian military presence in the Long Sea. Although a negative response to Arretine belligerence is understandable, this level strikes the Wendowie as unproductive, merely throwing more petroleum upon the metaphorical fire. We thus implore the Ionians to exercise restraint in this growing crisis, lest it spiral out of control and bring conflict to the Long Sea.

First of all nearly an hour ago an Arrentine Naval Battle Group breached the Ionian Exclusive Economic Zone near Lesbos, before being intercepted by the 12th Battle Group of Ionia's own 1st Fleet. At the same time amidst the great tension between the two nations the Prime Minister of the Ionian Confederacy has invited the Arrentine Emperor to Ithinai to peacefully resolve the incident which has recently troubled the two nations. Arretine Battle Cruisers breach Ionian EEZ and are intercepted! Ionia and Auraria invite Arretines to summit to no avail! Arretine Empire attempts to claim a tugboat was sunk but is proven wrong by Ionian and independent film tapes! Ionia invites Arretine Empire to summit once again! Proudl friend Nichtstein calls for peace and disproves Arretine lies!

The Ionian Confederacy and Aurarian Kingdom invited the Arretine Empire to a joint summit in Auraria to peacefully resolve the crisis between them. At the same time Arretine Battle Cruisers breached the Ionian Exclusive Economic Zone only to be intercepted by 3 full Ionian Naval Battle Groups which forced them to withdraw, while the Arretine side refused the Ionian and Aurarian invite. The next day the Arretinnes attempted to claim an Arretine tugboat was sunk but apart from common logic, the Ionians also had 6 different film tapes from various government or independent sources as well as Nichsteinian backing which disproved the Arretine claims, while the Arretines has no proof whatsoever. The Ionian and Nichtsteinian sides also had proof whcih disproved the false Arretine claims to increased piracy, thus leaving recent Arretine militarism and rearmament without a cause or reason. Ionia reaffirmed its invite to the Arretine Empire to sit at the negotiation table and resolve the incident without the need for arms.

Eiffelland, Ionia and Nichtstein found Long Sea Mutual Defence Treaty!

Today the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Ionian Confederacy, Kingdom of Eiffelland and Grand Duchy of Nichtstein signed the Treaty of Ithinai with which they founded the Long Sea Mutual Defence Treaty, a mutual defence and trade oriented body, to officialise the historically cordial relations which the three nations enjoy.

"The Long Sea Mutual Defence Treaty has two purposes; To officialise our good relations and to help ensure our three nations can maintain their tranquility and neutrality without outside interference. It is not an alliance to expand and create a hegemony over the Long Sea. It's simply a way to make sure that our self-concerned and friendly nations can continue to stay out of conflict and keep to their own affairs as they have done for so long. We just chose that name as Eiffelland-Ionia-Nichtstein Mutual Defence Agreement sounded too long and kind of ugly." said a spokesperson of Ionian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
