The old man wasn't long for this world they all knew that, the last attack had nearly finished him the next certainly would. Don Antonio Vega Minister of Police and Esteban Morelos Minister of Transport were already planning for the inevitable neither had a very high opinion of the First Minister who was seen by many as a spineless lump in a flash suit.

"We'll need to move fast once the Caudillo dies, I'd bet my life that bastard Gomez( Minister of Defense) will march on the capital and proclaim himself president, now my wife's cousin is the State Governor and he can mobilize the Guardia and I can bring in police...I'd need your trains of course but we'll need to appear legitimate of course so that means support from the liberals so a promising a few reforms might be in order".

" yes promising reforms makes us sound like liberals, and paints any other challengers as anti-democratic, several of the more progressive Haciendo's would naturally flock to us with their men and resources"

San Luis, Las Colinas, Unión Nacional Integralista headquarters

The UNI leadership were gathered to plan their next move, with everything that was happening in the Free State the events of the next few weeks would be crucial.Ramon Ignacio Reyes spoke to the assembled men

" The Caudillo will not survive long...whatever the press says so we have to be ready, elements within the military are prepared to support us, Gomez will no doubt try and claim the presidency and since he claims the support of most of the military we must align ourselves to him...for the present until of course a better opportunity presents itself.

Elsewhere across the Vaquero Free State the PCO where beginning to secretly arm themselves, getting weapons wasn't exactly hard, most in Free State had access to firearms especially in the border states and in the rural areas. The problem was securing military grade weapons..and ammunition both of which where heavily monitored.

Even so small caches of weapons were being amassed in the towns and villages and the PCO waited with bated breath...soon the people would hear the cry of freedom.

General Victoriano Gomez sat in his office, it was an opulent space, portraits of the Free States most famous generals and leaders hung on the walls looking down at him and one day soon his face would join them. Already he had secured the support of several other officers, altogether they could potentially muster some 4000 men if all went well, which would be more than enough for the task at hand...after all once he'd taken the capital many more would flock to his banner. The UNI had also hinted at supporting him and their paramilitaries would be invaluable but he would have to be careful...the Integralists had their own agenda, their foolish new state and their calls for war.

Región Autónoma de la montaña roja ( Red mountain autonomous region)

Juan degollandor had returned home from patrolling the Mazidian border to find his people conflicted, everyone with half a brain could tell that change was coming to the Free State and that even the Llanero were not safe.

Most of the young men were eager for war and glory and supported the Integralists, they argued that the peace had gone on too long and now there was no way for Llanero men to make their way in the world without war. The old men supported officers like Gomez, someone who would keep to the status quo, and there were those who wished for a liberal government, one that would help make themselves rich from the oil and silver that lay untouched in tribal lands.

All of the various plotters had tried to woo the Llanero tribes, for now the Llanero has decided to remain aloof, after all when the dust settled whoever won would likely still lead them.

President Plutacaro Prima-Riviera had breathed his last.

26/11/2018. 12:00am
Don Antonio and Esteban Morelos made their move.

First Minister Antonio Calvera-Vasquez was preparing statement for the press when a five heavily armed policemen burst into his home blindfolding him and shoving him into a unmarked car....this would be the last time anyone would see the First Minister again.

The Ministers of Finance and the Interior also met similar fates that night. and roadblocks went up across the city with armed policemen on every street corner.

General Victoriano Gomez was on the march, regrettably only seven hundred men were with him, the others who had pledged their support had so far be reluctant to actually commit to his plan, he would remember those fair-weather friends. So far his column was making good time, he had ordered the men ride on horseback all the better to appear as heroes saving the country from chaos and anarchy.

Rio Bravo, Police Headquarters 27/11/2018 10:45am

Commissioner Salazar Obregon has rushed off his feet, as were his subordinates, PCO agitators had taken to the streets and so far it was all his men could do to keep the peace which in itself was a minor miracle. A young uniformed officer burst into his office interrupting his moment of reflection " Commissioner we have reports of gunfire in the San Francis slums...the PCO have assault rifles and machine guns we've had to pull all our men out". So now the PCO were armed and had effectively taken hold of the largest slums in the capital, Obregon had so far resisted calling for assistance from the Guardia Regional but now he had now choice...

Gomez's column was making good time on his march on the capital at this rate he would be there a day, two at most, he had been joined by a hundred UNI Greenshirts led by Ramon Ignacio Reyes himself who demanded that they march at the front of the column alongside General Gomez's honour guard. Although he would have rather not shared the glory of marching on the capital, Gomez knew he could very well need the UNI in the future.

San Francis slums

intense running gunfights had been taking place all over the city between the PCO and the Police and Guardia Regional, elsewhere in the city the authorities had managed to drive off the rebels but so far the frenzied defenders of San Francis had thrown back the combined might of the Guardia Regional and the cities police.
