"That I don't doubt Father. His Holiness contacted me in secret via letter. He said that he's been watching me. I'm keen to know how. I want to ask him why he contacted me. I'd like to put a face to the words. I request this as Ambassador Officiale to Elben. I also trust this stays behind your seal."

"He contacted you? You're an ambassador? Well, hmm. My son, I have some friends who long ago went to seminary with His Holiness. Maybe I can contact them and they can reach out. Would this be acceptable?"

It was hard to tell if the ambassadorship to Elben was a cruel and vile joke played upon Javier Pablo de Tavira or Elben itself. He was rather young for the Aurarine diplomatic corps. A tall, slender olive-skinned, dark haired man of thirty-seven – Javier Pablo was the picturesque Aurarian. His pearl green eyes contiously scanned the room at the charade in front of him.

“These royalists suck each other off more than Tauritanians on a Monday evening,” he thought to himself “All this talk of religion, Gods, sovereigns, Yahweh, the Virgin Mary, and whatever other fictional storybook hero made Javier Pablo mildly nauseous. It didn’t help that he had been sober for more than fourteen hours at this point.

Still, there was a certain glimmer of hope in the rather abysmal affair he found himself in: that Caledonian, Niall Loganach. “Now he is a sight,” the crude – yet proudly Aurarian – Ambassador thought “He is something.” There was something about the Caledonians that always intrigued the Aurarians. It was hard to tell if it was his pasty white skin that matched the snow capped mountains of Gallaecia or if it was the red hair that reminded Javier of the fiery passion Tauritanians had for their fellow man, that intrigued him so much.

However, Javier Pablo’s fantasies were soon crushed – defeated faster than a Justosian fleet at the site of a Joint Aurarian-Pelasgian Task Force. At the conclusion of the ceremony – which Javier had long forgotten he was even at – the Caledonian turned to the Slavonian, Sylvanian, and Vaquero ambassadors and invited them for whiskey. Yet, the Aurarian – notorious for his countrymen’s passion and ability to outdrink any Gallo-Germanian – remained unvited.

It was soul crushing, to say the least. He watched as the group departed the ceremony, his dreams with them. With a sigh, the Aurarian turned around to come face to face with the ancient Ostmarker, Friedrich Heinrich von Wien.

“Ay Caramba!” the ambassador exclaimed in his head “Ambassador,” he stated, bowing to the Ostmarker.

The Aurarian immediately turned and exited the room. In a moment of privacy, he pulled out his iBone and did what any Aurarian did when they were rejected – opened their Findr App and began tapping on profiles. Sadly, in the the forsaken lands of Elben, the nearest profile – even in Eschenbach – was kilometers away.

Julian knew he had to lie. It pained him. He wanted to tell the Father everything, but that would be the end of everything. How far he had come. Dredging his house up to noble/royal status again firstly. He knew he was perjuring his immortal soul. He would pray for forgiveness in earnest later.

"I am a Christian father. My soul is saved. Our path is lit. I humbly implore you, let that be enough."

"Very well, my son. I will send you word on the success or failure of my efforts."

The priest blessed Julian as he looked like he needed it, and then the old man departed into the shadows. Erich soon arrived and led the prince back to the car and they headed for the hotel.

Julian rose from his short sleep. He downed what was left of his rather large glass of Pinot Noir, brushed his teeth, & showered. He put on a plain looking suit. He needed to draw as little attention to himself as possible.

He sat & waited.

James "Jake" Buchanan Blackthorn stared at the large Christmas tree as his black car left the New Palace for the hotel where the Prince of Atonement was staying. He took a sip of whisky from a silver flask in his waistcoat. Something must have filled him with the Christmas spirit because he reflected, Queen Julian wasn't as annoying as I thought she would be. The Elbeners weren't as boring, either. Still he was glad the Gunnish royal family was mostly dead, missing, or hidden around the world. Sitting around the fire drinking Glühwein with a bunch of huffy dipshits with a lifelong training in politesse wasn't to his taste. He congratulated himself for acting more drunk than he actually was.

And Robert Gunn had given him a secret mission in Eschenbach: to meet Julian Francisco-Francois and discuss the situation of Prince Joachas. If anyone would be sympathetic in Justosia, it would be the Catholic son of the Rebel King.

Fortunately Blackthorn was staying at the same hotel as the new Justosian ambassador to Elben. He asked the front desk clerk to relay the message to Julian. It simply read.

Let us talk about the business that the North has with the South. Whiskies only. Otherwise at your convenience. Penthouse suite. - JBB.

Blackthorn bid Julian to take a seat. His short, bearded bagman, Jude MacReddin, handed Julian a glass of Glenwillie and winked at the Justosian prince. "New to the north, lad? This here is James Blackthorn, the leader of Gunnland, head of the Integrity Party, big cheese on what's left of the Catholic Right. You see, we were stopping by for a wee dram with old King Fred, and what do you know, we hear you're here. We've been wanting to meet you." Jude leered a little oddly. He was a bit of an odd bloke.

The Gunnish leader laughed on the couch. "Pretty much. We're envious you chose Eschenbach over Windhaven, figuring that we are the great movers and shakers in what's left of the Catholic world. Little more daring than our German friends and Christian brethren here, I think, when it comes to making war and making money."

Jake Blackthorn smiled. He loved to ham it up.

"But what I really want to talk to you about is His Highness Prince Joachas, Queen Julian's brother, the only male scion of the noble Gunns. He is living not far north of your homeland, in Port Stanley. He should be living in Nidaros, as king of your Auswegian allies. Some of my powerful friends believe a prophecy that he is going to become a very powerful ruler in Europe. And they want to know if he would be welcome to grow up in Justosia, if it came to that."

Julian was surprised. Here he had thought that Gunnland had gone into isolation. Only now had they returned to the internationale seen. Much to Justosia's relief. Theirs were a firery rightist people. Second only to Justosian Nationalism. They had been missed. He wondered if they knew that he's a secret Catholic. He prayed they'd be silent on it if they did.

"Firstly, on behalf of the Great Southern Kingdom of Justosia, on behalf of the south, greetings. I was going to say no need to address me by title anyway. You guys know the informal drill.

Now I've heard rumblings of an internationale feud amongst certain royal houses. Please, tell me the full story."

Kirsten Ness had traveled to Elben to surround herself with the catholic faithful and to enjoy the natural splendor of the Elbener country side. She had heard that some big names had arrived in Eschenbach to see if she could spot some of the world leaders she was a big fan of. She had inquired at the hotel front desk if Prince Julian Francisco-Francois II was really staying there, but that direct method did not work, they simply shooed her away. However she did manage to leave a message with one of the staff that she wanted to see him, perhaps they thought she was his mistress, who knew why they had taken the note.

What a dream it would be for her to run into a man of such strong character and religious conviction, perhaps she would be lucky and run into him and whoever might be in his party if she waited in the hotel cafe. She took a seat where she would have a good view of reception and ordered a coffee.

"Ah yes, the battle royale."

Blackthorn scratched his head. He didn't exactly know all of the details from the Auswegian succession crisis. But that never stopped the Leader from telling a good story.

"As you know the House of Gunn, or as we say, Clan Gunn, is an ancient royal family that guarded the northern reaches inside and outside the Holy Tiburan Empire, rules the northern kingdom that bears their name, and plays a complex role in the histories of Engellex and Bourgogne. I don't know how many royal lines the Gunns have married into. Many. We have an elective monarchy, you see -- clans elect king, people elect thing -- so there has been no worries about intermarriage imperiling Gunnish sovereignty. And our very refined royal family has often felt more at home abroad than in our country, which, when you get outside of fairy-tale Windhaven and wealthy Ayr, is a bit of a rough and tumble place."

Jude smiled from the corner, practicing his leer into his reflection in the beverage cooler. He was one of those Gunnishmen who acted more like a wild highland clansman than he was. In fact he was betrothed to a Seoran woman from Siu Wui, a kind of intermarriage that raised eyebrows even among so-called liberal Gunnishmen.

"Queen Julian and Prince Joachas are orphans, the oldest and youngest children of King Josias and Queen Deoiridh, who died in a plane crash several years ago."

Blackthorn leaned in and whispered.

"We don't say this publicly, but Kadikistan did it. Ninety-nine percent sure."

In fact Blackthorn wasn't sure of this. Blame ran in every direction. Jews, communists, the Freemason cardinals of Eiffelland, homosexual cabals that for some reason were specifically not Jews or communists or Freemasons. Every direction except engine failure.

"Julian is twenty years old. Joachas is nine. She's very protective of him. We're very protective of her, too. You know just before she became queen she was kidnapped. Again, guess who we think did that? Well, not Kadikistan directly, but some Jewish communists who work for them."

Here Blackthorn was telling a lie. In fact conservative hardliners in the Church and government had betrayed the queen to the MacLeishes, who stashed her away with Trivodnian gangsters in Kretyn.

"So you see we're a great nation coming into our power once again, but we have powerful enemies, and our young rulers have been taking advantage of every step of the way. This is why the Jysks thought they could bully the Auswegians out of crowning their rightful king: Joachas is the legitimate male heir of Carl Frederick. But we're making a comeback."

Blackthorn narrowed his eyes.

"Be careful in the North, Prince Julian. You never know what secret organizations bind the communists to some of these fallen-away northern nations. There is a reason that Kadikistan waxes so powerful. They have secret allies in all of these capitals. Even in ECONAMS!"

Folketing gives counterproposal, Austwegian PM all smiles
[GØTERNHAVN] -
Public outcry has been massive. While Austwegians have found themselves divided over their future, as the prospect of full independence appeals to many, in Jyskerige the public has accused their Government of being self and splitting up the Twin Kingdoms.

Prime Minister Olsen has a sharp mind, and invited his Austwegian counter part to meetings within the Folketing and a compromise was drawn up that gives Østveg yet another proposal to consider. The proposal which includes a new constitutional document, will rework both north and south. Austwegians will accept Queen Katrine Frederikke, and then have the right to send representatives to the Folketing in Gothenhagen. Furthermore, they’ll maintain some powers in Nidaros. Ultimately, this means that the Folketing for the first time ever would include both the Jysk and Austwegian parliamentarians and thus bring the Two Kingdoms closer than they ever have been before.

The Austwegian Prime Minister Einar Knudsen has stated that he will agree to these terms, and fundamentally rip up the offer to Joachas Gunn should his fellow Parliamentarians in Nidaros agree.

Julian finished his drink. He took all this in. "Blessed Virgin Mother, most innocent steward, be with me here." He prayed to himself.

"........And you wish me to, by seal of my office and with my clout as prince, grant him permission to be harboured in Justosia. I am very personally for this. I cannot even put it into words. I need you to understand that Justosia is Protestant, it has its own state brand of such. Could His Royal Highness stand growing up in this? Can you stand sending him there? Furthermore, would this move provoke outrage, diplomatic rows with other nations? Say Eiffelland?"

"Prince Joachas is growing up in an abbey in Bal'harm, in the dry badlands of southwestern Port Stanley, while he exercises his regency of that country on behalf of my wife. His tutor is the Gunn, which we use to mean chief of the Gunns, my friend Robert, who is certainly more powerful than I am despite my title, probably still yet more powerful than Queen Julian."

Jake smiled.

"Joachas is no threat to anyone on the far side of the world. He's nine years old. A mere annoyance to the powers in Jyskerige-Østveg. So even Jysk-Auswegian spies find out he's in Justosia, I doubt they'd do anything."

His expression grew darker.

"But as our countries grow closer in friendship, in our shared spiritual warfare... you must do your part to keep your deluded southern Protestants from being tools of the Freemasons, as they all are in the North... I think the destiny of Prince Joachas will become clearer. Who he shall marry. Where he shall rule. Some of us think he will even be king of Gunnland someday."

Blackthorn put his fingers to his lips to mime, 'shh,' and winked.
