The morning sun filtered through the windows of Fulton House, an austere Beaux Arts style mansion on a plot of parkland just outside the city core of Banderfal. Named after Marcel Fulton, a half-Varlesian and half-Frezian revolutionary who was one of the leading figures in the Revolution of 1889 and the nation's first president, the residence had been constructed to distance the young republic from the trappings of monarchism that had dominated the country for centuries. It came at the insistence of Fulton himself, who refused to live in the royal palace and wished to have a humbler abode for the presidency which called upon the republican legacy of the past. Since its completion in 1894 it has housed the President of Eserland, even as the power of that office increased following the ratification of the 1927 Constitution. Now it would serve as the backdrop for a meeting between the leaders of two of Gallia's largest and most powerful republics.

Staff bustled about within the mansion's halls, making final preparations for the arrival of the Aurarian president. Flowers native to the Aurarian countryside placed on tables, the flags of Auraria and Eserland strewn up along the walls of the main hall, and more were in the finishing stages of being set-up to provide a welcoming atmosphere for the impending state visit. President Macony was fumbling with his blue tie in a mirror off the main hall, realizing it had been crooked and needed adjusting. He was quickly joined by his wife Angela, an attractive middle-aged brunette, as they made their way outside with a security detail following close behind, They stood patiently outside the main entrance to Fulton House in anticipation of the arrival of the Aurarian motorcade in a moment's time. With the situation in Gallo-Germania rapidly deteriorating, there was no doubt in Macony's mind that there was much that needed to be discussed between President Ordenes and himself once they were alone together in his office.

“How are you feeling?” Cabello smiled as the motorcade approached Fulton House.

“Very well,” Ordenes smiled “I’ve been waiting to meet with President Macony for a long time. Thank you for arranging it.”

Susanna Petit couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow at the dialogue. It was hardly a secret that the relationship between Ordenes and Cabello had deteriorated over the last few months. There were many in Marisela Palace who saw Cabello as on his way out. Though, he did successfully manage to swoon the Sylvanians. Even if his success in Sylvania is considered less consequential than his failure in the Gallian Summits. As a result, Petit - as Chief of Staff - took a more aggressive role in overseeing Cabello and advocated that Ordenes be more present in the formation of his own foreign policy. Ordenes was a kind, soft spoken man but he had little issue letting his team know it when he was angry. Therefore, for him to be so kind to Cabello constantly annoyed Susanna.

As the motorcade rolled up, members of the Aurarine Republican Guard opened his door and he stepped out. He was wearing what seemed like the only outfit he every wanted to be seen in: a black suit, purple tie, and a flag pin. He made his way up to the entrance of the Fulton House and shook President Macony’s hand. His diplomatic corps was sure to keep a decent distance from him.

”President Macony, your Excelleny,” he smiled before turning to Angela “Madam Macony. I must say it brings me great joy to be here today. This meeting is long overdue...Eserland and Auraria are kindred and I am eager to see what history we can make here today.”
