This is a very aesthetically pleasing update! Thank you! I would also like some sort of 'like' function to return. That was fun.

Question: could the 'view count' of threads that have more than 1K views be made more specific? Right now if a thread has more than 1K views, that's all we see instead of an accurate count. I like seeing this as it helps give me a rough idea of how many people have read my posts since I last posted. Without a 'Like' function, this is what I have been using to keep tabs on if my writing is garnering attention.

Thanks!

Happy to hear you like it! We had a discussion on likes as well as a vote, but if there is a consistent demand to bring them back, I will not deny that conversation to happen again eventually. Rules and decisions are of course always subject to regular review.

I've also made a change to how view counts display, but I think the counter is only counting from when I updated the forum. It is a bit wonkey. Let's see if it fixes itself in the upcoming days or keeps showing bizarre numbers. Generally I am not a fan of introducing KPIs and such into RP, it should be a fun thing you don't do for approval. This however was an easy fix, so if nobody complaints and it makes you happy, I'm gonna keep it like this.

In fact I am pretty sure they are wrong, because the Eiffel thread for example had over 9000 (no memes) views...I will keep investigating this. I'm on it.

Regarding Likes, I will say that the sole reason I liked it was because it told others you had read something,. It was a useful way to let someone know "I'm keeping an eye on this" or to get a feeler for how popular your solo RP threads are, or who you can talk to on discord about it, etc. Especially for observers to let each other know they read the same thing, and therefore, had the same information. I didn't necessarily consider it a popularity contest, but for example my thread, it was not designed to include others, but instead to play out a storyline I had a lot of inspiration for. On receiving feedback for it in the simple form of likes, it gave me ideas on the people who might be interested in participating in it, even in little roles. Smoking a pack of cigarettes from a country you know to be reading the thread, etc., little ways to talk with the likes.

Of course, this does remove a bit of impartiality and fairness, but it felt more like people subscribing and hitting that like button on youtube than it does getting those facebook likes to validate your life.

There is a thread where we discussed it, since I'm opposed to it I'll do the part of the grumpy moderator and say this is not the place for this discussion

This is the thread announcing the update and where we can comment about it and ask questions relating to it, no?

If it's about likes, even though we only recently had the topic, I feel this is not the thread for it, as they aren't really affected by the update per se. The prior thread would probably be a better place to discuss them (or a new one).

Sorry, div seems to be relatively impossible, since the code base has changed too much. I will look into the support resources, but it seems unfortunately unlikely. Sorry.

Regarding tables, I am not an expert, but people like Coro and Belmont are quite good with them and might be able to answer your questions.

If both issues need further discussion, please open new threads respectively, I am gonna close this thread as it's strictly about the forum update and the immediate aftermath and we seem to have weathered that quite nicely!
