AP Reigenstadt: Growing Political Discontent in Bolonesvia?

Following the most recent conflict with the country of Brasilistan, a new political party has appeared in regional elections, specifically around Konnisberg, the small North-Western
city. The Marxist-Leninovist Party has begun to gain traction among many intelectuals and pooer industrial familes. Many of these familes are also familes of veterens due to the Savov Military Base being located in the center of the region.

The significance is the miltancy of the group, and the call for a complete change to Bolonesvian political eviroment, including radical wealth distribution. They still remain a small minority nationally and 95% of the nation remains compleatly opposed to their views.

Ivernia raises food rations across the High Kingdom
AP Caladbolg

Today the Minister for Agriculture, Davóg O'Conghaile and the President of the Ivernish Farmers Association, Donnchadh Mac Laighin, made a joint announcement in the Ivernish Customs House in Caladbolg, which was hosting the biannual IFA general affairs meeting. In front of Ivernish farmers of all ages and provincial origin, the two men declared that an ''excellent farming summer'' had lead to a ''much larger harvest than expected.''

Minister O'Conghaile of the Claíomh Solais ruling party stated that this would mean rations are very likely to increase across all Provinces but particularly in Milesia and Formoria, but for grains in particular, families should see ''an immediate noticeable rise.''

Since the High Kingdom reclaimed large swathes of Milesia from the socialist/communist White Dove uprising, the Government has implemented a nationwide ration scheme in order to stop mass starvation from occurring in Milesia. Due to much of the farming lands being either ravaged by war or untended by farmers fleeing north, both the locals back under Ivernish control, and the large military presence protecting them need a continuous stream of food and resources.

Mr. Mac Laighin of the IFA in particular expressed his ''hope that the civil unrest will continue to dwindle and the High Kingdom regains control of every corner of Gaeldom.'' On behalf of the farmers he represents, he stated the current major concern in the farming community was that ''our sons are fighting in Milesia now and we need them to come home. Long term, the land needs it's men back - for the harvests to come.''

Border skirmish between Serenien and Bourgogne border forces
AP Villesen
Reports are emerging that here has been an intense shoot out on the Burgo-Serenien frontier where tensions have remained high these past few weeks. There is little information coming out of either government but it is said that the incident occurred when Serenierre's border forces tried to stop a group of Burgundian nationalists from leaving the territory of the People's Republic. More details when they are learnt shall be stated.

This AP report is factually incorrect. There has been an incident on the Burgo-Serenien frontier but there has been no clash between the forces of the two nations. The incident is being investigated and we are not at liberty to discuss any more details at this point.

Ethno-nationalistic tensions rise in north-eastern Serenierre
AP Villesen

Following a wave of strong anti-Bourgogne sentiment sweeping across the country, tensions have been rising steadily against the domestic Serenien Burgundian minority present through the north-eastern region of the People's Republic. The highest executive body in the communist nation's executive, the Commissariat of People's Deputies has issued fresh orders to keep in place the curfew that has remained in force since the Government's crackdown against the Royalists began earlier this year. There have been numerous reports in international press that the Serenien intelligence agencies have been engaged in a campaign of brutal intimidation against the members of the Burgundian community and some rumours floating around in the region suggest that a nationalist insurgency is taking hold in the densely forested countryside.

The People's Republic began its crack down against the royalists when it emerged that elements within the exiled royalist and aristocratic classes from Serenierre, currently present in Bourgogne, have been lobbying the Grand Duke of that country to lay claim over the currently empty throne of Serenierre. The exiled royalists have found tremendous support amongst the Burgundian minority communities, who welcome a joining of the two Francophone lands and the prospect of a Burgundian ruler.

The Grand Duchy wishes to state, yet again, that the Grand Duke has never made any actions towards securing the throne of Serenierre. We regret the current situation that exists and we will continue do all that is possible to reopen relations with the nation and people of Serenierre.

Robert Griffin faces firing squad

C.A.P.I.C
Special Radio Coverage
3/8/1956

Hello my name is Bleddyn Williams C.A.P.I.C special reporter. After a month off air we are proud to say we have rebuilt the studio and are grateful for the public sympathy. At nine tonight we shall hold a hour memorial program but we must continue and the producers thought it would be fitting to cover the June Attackers trials. Thanks to heighten security only few members of the press are allowed inside the High Republic Court of Justice so we are outside at the other end of the street.

If you could hear that in front of me a heavily armed convoy is coming around the corner, it is bringing in the June Attackers from an unknown location. I have been asked to move back a bit, both ends of the street there are armed military police with two light tanks parked at both sides. The military police are allowing the convoy through the temporary mental barrier. The convoy is made up of four jeeps with manned mounted machine guns at the back and the six men are being transported in heavy duty prison bus with its windows blacked out.

Currently we are in the third day and hopefully coming to end of the trails. Four out of six men refused to have a defense team or a single public defender.Idris Cox the well known trade union's lawyer is defending Morgan Phillips whose facing charges of using the Steel Mari Network funds to finance the attackers. Gawin Schneider is known to the police of being heavily involed in the European underworld was arrested in a separate operation three months, he was released with bail but arrested again after investigators found links between him and the gun used in the attacks.

The only four men to be captured during the night are Robert Griffins aged 46,Rhys ap Dafydd aged 32,William Cove aged 17 and George Dallas aged 23 are representing themselves but are not talking and acknowledge the court's authority.

I got word the four men are in court and the men are waiting the verdict from jury and Lord Justice Kinch's sentencing. We can get audio from the court room.

Jury: "The Jury have judge our peers with no prejudices and come to our decision from only the evidence presented to our us. We come to conclustion that all four defendants are guilty to the charges presented to the court."

LJ: "I thank the jury for its decision. I Lord Justice Kinch of Ritona's courts, sentence George Dallas and Rhys Ap Dafydd to life imprisonment. For William Cove I sentence him to twenty years of special custody because of his age and that he was brainwashed into Marxist dogma.

Robert Griffins for being only ringleader to be alive and for brainwashing the young and impressionable William Cove. For planning and carry out terror in your homeland, for spilling innocent blood on the streets. I say you are sick of the mental disease called Marxism it ables you to think it is fine to create chaos and try to destory our way of life . You are a great threat to your fellow citizens and you can no longer be. I give you the highest punishment, I sentence you to death.

As you heard Robert Griffins leader of the Cymraeg Couch and June Attackers been given the death sentence, the last person to receive was the serial rapist Gareth Vincent Hall in 1947, now it is up to the Council of High Justices to agree to his sentencing since the only court to have that power.

Morgan Phillips and Gawin Schneider trail will counting for rest of the day. The four men are now being carry out seems like the court guards are needing to help to resent them. William is the most visibly restring them, he's kneeled on the steps leading to the court, the military police and court guards are trying to pick him up, while Rhys ap Dafydd is currectly wrestling with three court guards.

"I will not surrender to the capitalist imperialists! I will not die in vain! I will not allow the working class to be oppressed!"

The person shouting is Robert Griffin he is being drag down the court steps with five men on him. William Cove has just got up from and head butted one of the military police. This is surprising because all through the trial all four men have been silent but we can guess this happening over the death sentence. George Dallas the only one not to make a commotion is being put into the prison bus while others are still struggling on the steps.

Wait minute we can hear something,it sounds like heavy rain hitting a metal roof.

I can confirm that is the sound of gunfire roughly four streets away and we are being told to leave the area.

"I am joined by our entire nation when I express my outrage upon hearing that the Cymraeg sham-courts have sentenced the revolutionary heroes of their country to death along with the leader of Cymraeg Couch. The latter vanguard party is an early member of the International Association of Marxist-Leninovist Parties and Robert Griffins has always been a good friend with only the best interests of the Cymraeg working class at heart. The June Attacks and the smaller attacks that took place after it were not the result of a group of fanatics, but rather a working class-based reaction on years of capitalist exploitation and oppression. The Cymraeg Government and the clearly political biased Courts are attempting to show strength with this brutal verdict, but they are only showing weakness and fear. Fear that if these brave men are not permanently removed, they might continue their righteous efforts and eventually bring an end to the capitalist system in the country.

With these insights in mind we offer the Cymraeg government an opportunity to remove the June Attackers, without unnecessary loss of life nor loss of face. Rather then execute them we offer all participants the opportunity to request political asylum in the Democratic Republic of Kadikistan. The freedom to organize and the independence of Cymraeg Couch must be maintained and those who still want to fight the system will be urged to do so in a more diplomatic manner. This, in short, is our proposal to defuse the situation and bring back stability. Should the Caerdydd regime continue with its path of repression then it shall be war, and the blood of what follows will be on your hands. We will not allow a member of the International to be butchered without even so much as a fair trial. Those that Caerdydd holds in its prisons are just the tip of the iceberg, others will take their place. The choice is yours."

Chancellor Wolf Pledges Full Support for Mehldorf over Calidia
AP Linz

Today, Chancellor Alden Wolf* signed a proclamation from the Imperial Parliament pledging the Dual Monarchy’s full support of the Kingdom of Mehldorf in their struggle against a communist insurgency in Calidia.

“Peace has always, is always, and will always be the primary goal of the Imperial Government,” Chancellor Wolf stated “However, the communist ideology is the very antithesis of peace. Communism is a threat to our blessings of liberty and all peoples must come together to defeat it.”

The proclamation came in light of the Mehldorfean Government’s decision to engage the Calidian Rebels in negotiation. Opposition leader Patrick Budai, normally a vocal adversary of Chancellor Wolf, came out in strong support of the proclamation.

“Communism cannot exist in a free society,” Budai stated “the fight against it [communism] is not an issue of Carinthia, Harkány, Conservatives nor Progressives. It is a fight for the very sanctity of humanity.”

In the past, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has stated that they have met with representatives of the Kadikistani Government “on more than one occasion” to use diplomacy as a way to minimize the tension between the two countries. As many remember, for weeks Carinthia-Harkány and Kadikistan had more than 500,000 guns pointing at one another with war seemingly inevitable.

Now, with a separatist rebellion in Mehldorf, one of the Empire’s most trusted allies, the Imperial Government is taking a strong stance. In the proclamation, the Parliament directs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to deliberate with the Mehldorfean Government on best practices to reunify the country under the same principles of freedom and liberty it currently enjoys.

* The Empire's back bitches. Also, the 321th name change for the Chancellor.

Armed Men arrested crossing into SWR from Lauenburger Himyar
AP Deliverance

Units from the Ranger Corps, tasked with border patrol duties in north-eastern Concordia, have arrested a group of armed men last night. The men were using the cover of darkness to transport ammunition and explosives across the border and through the Sea of Fire, the massive Himyari desert seperating the Republic from its northern neighbours. According to the authorities, the men did not resist their arrest when surprised by the Rangers, but had clearly not been carrying illegal weapons across the border for the first time. While the smugglers are still being interrogated, a spokesperson for the Republic commented that the guns were most likely destined for an extremist group, possibly Leninovist in nature, and that the northern border has always been the main point of entry for criminals and smugglers into the Republic.

Deliverance considering sanctions against 'aggressive military build-up'
AP Deliverance

Following a rare public statement by the highest-ranking official of the Navy of the SWR, Marshal Calvin Smith-Simmons, warning that military expansion plans and posturing by foreign powers may lead to an arms race, the administration of President Winters has adressed Europe as well. Expressing grave worries about the tensions in the Kalahari Sea, Winters called the posturing of Justiza and its allies 'gravely irresponsible' and stressed the importance of the Kalahari Sea and the Sortain Strait to Europe as a whole, but Implarian Himyar in particular. "The current aggressive military build-up by Pelasgia and Lauenburg must be interpreted as an attempt to abuse Justizas strategic position to exert influence over the whole of the Kalahari and is thus of grave concern to the Free World."

Harsh criticism from the President was furthermore directed at the Justizan statement towards the words of Marshal Smith-Simmons, stating that a military presence of the SWR in the Kalahari Sea would be seen as "clear and undeniable bellicose act." President Winters reportedly summoned the Justizan ambassador immediately following the release of the statement, interrupting a reception in the Presidential Home to clarify whether the statement of the Justizan government was to be interpreted as "a threat of war" towards the Republic. "The Socialist World Republic has clear and legitimate strategic interests in the Kalahari, including but not limited to the protection of trade routes and protecting the sovereignity of the Jurzan," the President stressed. "We hope to be able to pursue these interests with purely diplomatic means, but if current rhetorics and, more importantly, actions continue, we may feel the need to reinforce our position through similiar means."

Stating its commitment to peace, the press release of the President of the SWR concluded by announcing Deliverance's intention to consult other European powers on the possibility of joint policy on the matter, while also considering economic and diplomatic sanctions against those powers it perceives to be the most aggressive engines of the current trend of naval expansionism. "Belligerent posturing and the construction of massive warfleets do not preserve peace and do little to protect shipping, they only escalate existing tensions and undermine the trust necessary for global peaceful cooperation."

Pelasgian Empire
Ministry of Foreign Affairs
Public Statement

14th of October, 1956
To whom it may concern.

It is rather hypocritical that a state which seeks to assert dominance over the whole world would accuse us of expansionism; any and all buildup on our part was directed towards a modernisation of our Armed Forces, which all respectable states routinely undertake, in addition to a wish to protect Justiza from foreign invasion. We would like to remind the Marshal that in recent months, Justiza was illegally blockaded merely due to the wish of Her Communist Party to be independent from the ideology of Kadikistan, which is also different to that of Engello-Socialist Himyar. The presence of the "Republic" in the Kalahari Sea, especially so far North of her own territorial waters and borders is unacceptable, in contrast to that of the Empire and Lauenburg, both of which have sovereign territory in the area. If the "Republic" claims to be there so as to defend Jurzan, from a threat to which the rest of the world seems to be oblivious, our wish to protect Justiza is equally legitimate, if not more so due to our treaties, cultural and geographic proximity. We would like to make it clear that any attempts by the "Republic" to exert any sort of presence in or influence over the waters and exclusive economic zones of us and our allies in the Kalahari Sea will be considered unacceptable and illegal and we call upon the "Republic" to openly pledge her respect to the clearly outlined parameters of International Law and the treaties between the countries of the region, especially the Status Quo treaty between Pelasgia and Kadikistan. Engello-Socialist Himyar is quick to perceive threats of war, but it is they who claim "rightful interests" over seas and territories thousands of miles away from their shores.

It is with utmost concern that we view the recent rhetorics of the Pelasgian Empire, which serve not to deescalate the situation and ease the ongoing tension within the Kalahari Sea, but serve only to further incite an already troublesome developement. We hope that the words of the Pelasgian Empire are merely idle posturing for the public and that, behind this facade, reason resides and the will to adress the issues at hand for the preserving of peace. To this end, we wish to correct several factually false statements made by the Pelasgian Minister of Foreign Affairs and clarify the position of the Socialist World Republic on the matter at hand.

Firstly, the Socialist World Republic has never expressed its wish to position military forces in the Kalahari Sea. It has expressed its worries over the current influence exerted by the Pelasgian Empire over the whole of the region in its alliance with the strategically located Justiza and the aggressive positioning of military forces within the borders of said nation. These worries are not unfounded, as the aggressive rhetorics of the Pelasgian Empire have proven time and time again, as well as the scope of its military ambitions that do not reflect the wishes of a peaceful nation to be safe from outside aggression, but rather dreams of imperial grandeur.

Secondly, we will allow the Jurzan to be a judge over its security needs, not the Pelasgian Empire. The Jurzani people have suffered long enough at the hands of Imperial rule and is besieged by potential enemies. We consider our friendship with the Jurzani people to be a vital strategic interest and a moral imperative and the military posturing of the Pelasgian Empire is a clear threat to the security of our shipping to the Jurzan, especially if the Pelasgian Empire continues its current, belligerent stance against the Free Peoples of the world.

Thirdly, while we certainly have no warm feelings for the Kadikistani regime, the twelve brave soldiers who were murdered on orders of Ivar during a humanitarian mission to Milesia a testament to our own suffering at the hands of the Leninovists, we feel that the Pelasgian government is doing much to misrepresent the developement of tension in the Kalahari to serve its own ends. It were aggressive Justizan policies that compelled the Kadikistanis into action and a complete failure of diplomacy that caused the escalation. We feel that the Pelasgian support for Justiza, far from securing its independence, has actively endangered the small nation by encouraging it to abolish its independence and setting it on a course of confrontation that serves no ones best interests but the Imperial ambitions of those ruling in Propontis.

Fourthly and lastly, we feel that Justiza has demonstrated the regard both its government and its allies have for international agreements and treatises when they declared international waters between the Justiza main island and the Parvae Islands to be of such vital interest that foreign presence within these waters would be considered a declaration of war. This is an absolutely unacceptable position, a clear violation of international agreements and could easily provoke the very war we seek to prevent here, once one of the more prideful and hotheaded regimes in Europe decides to reassure itself by positioning its own forces in what are, we must emphasize, international waters. As for the 'Status Quo' treaty: the Socialist World Republic is not a signatory, it views the 'carving up' of parts of Europe into spheres of influence between different self-declared Great Powers to be an act of imperial politics which our Republic wishes to take no part in and we are of the conviction that this treaty has not served to defuse tensions in the Kalahari, but rather intensify it through its signatories aggressively laying claim to responsibilities over international waters and important shipping lanes.

"The Pelasgian government, as always, has a very selective view on the history of Justinian-fuelled conflicts in the Kalahari Sea. Indeed the Kadiko-CPJ Split and the subsequent bloody repression on the Justinian Marxist-Leninovist Workers' Party sacked the diplomatic relationship between Kadikistan and the rogue state, but it was not this which forced us to take action. It was when Justiza illegally captured a Kadikistani commercial vessel and held its crew hostage like common thugs that they forced our hand and brought the blockade onto themselves. During the successful it was agreed and admitted that the Justinian government was in the wrong. Which is why they are currently paying off a debt of no less then 70 million Lire to the Kadikistani State as moral, commercial and material reparations.

And while Pelasgia might claim to adhere to the sacred Status Quo they have done nothing the past few months but undermine it. By allowing and facilitating for the bombastic expansion of the tiny island's naval powers and by securing a base on the strategic Central-Kalahari position the Pelasgian Empire has tipped the scales in their favour. Thus doing everything the Status Quo prohibits in defence of peace and stability. If Propontis has any shred of sincerity and integrity left it will remove its troops from Justiza and allow for the tensions in the Kalahari to normalize. If not then Pelasgia has no right shielding itself behind the very treaty they are destroying by their own greed and lust for dominance."

To whom it may concern.

Justiza was forced to pay those reparations under the threat of provoking a large scale war, in which it was sure to perish before any Imperial or other help could arrive. The Varanasi Peace Summit was a mere modern version of the Anthenean blackmail of Syra, with the excuse that the "strong do what they can and the weak suffer what they must". Since Kadikistan and the rest of the world's Communists seem to remember this coercion so vividly, they need not ask why Justiza has since found it necessary to protect Herself, even with the help of foreign arms of friendly nations. As far as we're concerned, Kadikistan's efforts to undermine the Republic's security as well as the most illegal and destabilising blockade which was enforced on the small insular country directly influenced the balance of power in the Kalahari Sea, shifting it in Kadikistan's favour. Our actions were merely aimed at restoring balance in the area, which they succeeded in doing, as evidenced by Kadikistan's current outrage at its loss of its former advantage.

As for the statements of the Socialist-Imperial Engell-Socialist Himyar, the Jurzani nation would find itself in much less need of protection from an imagined enemy if it stopped taxing religious minority groups within its own borders, all the while claiming to be defending itself from foreign aggression. As for our actions with regard to the Republic of Justiza, they were perfectly justified and legitimate, both in legal and in moral terms, so as to restore peace and balance to the region.

As for the Status Quo Treaty, the "Republic" would do well to respect the balances of nations in regions to which its own presence is alien and artificial, unless of course She is the Imperialist and Warmonger it claims to be fighting. The signatory nations of the Treaty in question lay no claim over the Kalahari Sea. As for Justiza's defence policy, it is more than understandable that an attempt to sail a major military force right through the two island complexes that make up Justiza would be considered a highly dangerous and aggressive action at best. We are more than certain that if our own Imperial War Navy's ships were to find themselves near Deliverance, even in international waters, the welcome they would receive by the government there would be far from warm and cordial. And that's without taking into account the tantra which our eyes and ears would have to endure then.

We shall waste no more time nor energy in this fruitless debate, since none of our ideologically and strategically opposed states can hope to come to an agreement. Instead we shall a
bdicate this theatre of redundancy and hope that our fellow nations will demonstrate the same decency. We shall continue to respect and promote the current status of internationally accepted legality and peace, as well as the peaceful compromises and balances between our states.

The Empire is growing ever increasing concerned about the aggressive state of rhetoric surrounding the affairs of the Kalahari region. As a Kalahari state, we feel that the participants of the present discussion over the Kalahari Sea are sidestepping relevant issues with insults, grandstanding, and barbarous mentalities. To ensure our standing and to hope that the current conversation surrounding our region takes a different avenue of possible outcomes.

Firstly, the Socialist World Republic accuses other nations, to which it has little interaction, of engaging in a so-called “arms race.” A reallocation of existing forces to a region of growing importance economically and strategically could hardly be called an arms race, nor could the upgrading and replacement of outdated equipment. The phrase “arms race” is a loaded phrase with vast connotations and accusations that should not be thrown around loosely, unless the World Republic is capable to dealing with the consequences. We also object to the Republic’s meddling in the affairs of a region to which it does not belong. Surely, the World Republic would object if the Empire mused about sending its fleets into Southern Himyar. The Kalahari is no place for the Republic.

Secondly, while the Empire has its issues with the words of the Socialist World Republic, Deliverance, nonetheless, delivers the truth. The provocations of the Republic of Justiza in relation to the arbitrary restriction of the free flow of international trade within international waters. The claiming of vast swaths of the Kalahari Sea as part of its domestic Economic Exclusion Zone threatens the fabric of peace in our neighborhood. We cannot, and will not abide by these actions by Justiza nor of those who support the escalating moves. Huaxianese vessels will continue to sail through these waters and military escorts from the Imperial Fleet of the Kalahari will be provided. We shall also extend this offer to any vessel that needs the Empire’s assistance. We will reiterate that should any warship fire upon His Imperial Majesty’s ships would be an act of war by the offending nation upon the Empire.

Finally, we remind every party that we all want prosperity for our peoples. That prosperity only comes with peace. Peace in the Kalahari Sea must be maintained for the benefit of all peoples.

OOC. I don't want to be that guy but, no one is really interested in that distinction. According to real life international law, a nation cannot simply declare that no military vessels are allowed to enter an area of free, international waters - unless they have the navy and guts to back up such a claim. All that aside, this is all RP posturing and not like "lets get the facts together." It doesn't matter how many times you clarify, we'll spin it to support whatever agenda we have.

We, as a nation with interests in the Kalahari Sea through the islands of Helgoland and Rügen, which belong to the Kingdom of Eiffelland, call upon everyone to remain calm. Both the Long Sea and the Kalahari Sea are important trade routes that need to be kept peaceful, stable and safe. We also call upon those who do it not to twist the words of others.
