Establishing Nation

SECRET - SECRET - SECRET
The Workers' Republic of Carentania hereby expresses its heartfelt gratitude that the responsible government of Asylan has seen reason and decided to abandon its destabilizing stance in the Eastern Cape. However, we must also note the deep worries that have been raised as a result of the Asylan policies and we have begun to question the designs of the government of Asylan in regards to the Eastern Cape. As a result, there is little trust left in the goodwill of the government of Asylan that an incident such as the one revolving around the city of Augustaborg may not repeat itself in the future, when the nations of the ICD are preoccupied with different issues and Asylan may feel the time is ripe to repeat its folly.
Carentania thus feels compelled to seek out guarantuees from the government of Asylan that will prevent it from compromising the sovereignity of the Eastern Cape yet again and we will not accept idle words for such. History is shaped by material conditions and the continued presence of a removed Asylan military base in the direct vicinity of the independent Eastern Cape remains a continue threat to the sovereignity of the Eastern Cape. Freedom can not thrive under such conditions and the permanent threat of military involvement by Asylan forces is a very dire prospect indeed.
We thus have come to the conclusion that the Naval Base at Erdenshire should be vacated, the military troops there returning to Asylan proper. The island will temporarily be placed under Carentanian trusteeship with the formal and official goal of incorporating it into the independent Eastern Cape at the earliest viable time in the near future. Carentania understands the psychological impact of such a transfer of territory and the possible loss of face for the Asylan government, but must insist on these points to ensure the safety of the Eastern Cape whose smooth transfer to sovereignity it has taken responsibility for under the terms of its membership in the International Commission on Decolonization.
The Workers' Republic is willing to negotiate possible reparations for the financial burden an evacuation of Erdenshire may pose for the nation of Asylan.
