We have now reached a critical moment in the situation regarding Augustaborg. While we regret not being able to discuss our actions regarding the country before our action we believed that in order to salvage the situation and at least save part of the populace from communist rule we had to act quickly.

At this moment in time there are roughly 800 Asylan troops located near the borders of Augustaborg, we have authorized the deployment of an additional 2000 on top of this. Two of our light carrier task forces have secured the channel between Erdenshire and Augustaborg leaving outside supply lines open. However as per his previous independence announcement, Mr. Akesson has no military forces to provide in case of conflict.

At this time our analysts have theorized that Etnaea is more likely to either remain neutral or ideologically side with the Triparte. It seems unlikely that they will join and shooting conflict unless their own colonial possessions are threatened. Our greatest threat is Carentania. At this very moment an assault on Augustaborg would be impossible since Asylan forces would most likely defeat any assault. However should they bring reinforcements this could be brought into question. Our greatest asset in the region is the Erdenshire base. Its airstrip and naval facilities will prove invaluable.

PRIVATE COMMUNIQUE

The High Kingdom of is disappointed that the people of Government in Asylan have actually managed, not a week after signing the Tripartite Agreement, to bring itself in a stand-off between itself and Carentania, and as such between the Tripartite and the RDTO.

The High Kingdom of Ivernia wishes to know why exactly a nation like Asylan has decided to bring about this situation of brinkmanship with a nation as deluded and psychopathic as the Red Carentania.

Carentania will not back down. Carentania will not care if Carentanian men die. They have no sense of self, or individuality. They are Communist drones of their State. Hell bent, for whatever mad reason - to waste their time, their money, and their military to try turning this absolute back-end of a nation into another piece of their Socialist Neo-Empire.

What exactly is there to gain from a war torn region like the Eastern Cape? No industry, a destroyed land, and a people who were bushwacking a decade ago. This land has absolutely no strategic value in any sense of the word and the High Command of Ivernia could not believe it's lucky stars that the RDTO had decided to waste colossal resources and time in turning it into a ''Socialist Haven'' when in reality we predict civil unrest in that region for decades to come.

It was game, set and match for the Tripartite, who could then spend their valuable resources on far more important flashpoints around the world.

But now we are here, defending this shell of a nation and threatening a World War over it.

We in Ivernia, do humbly request that Asylan explains why exactly this part of the world is worth a full and total war with the RDTO over any other miserable useless piece of earth? Why exactly should Asylan not just pull out of Augustaborg and leave it to the senseless Communists, who will, with no doubt, throw their nations in recession as they try to ''fix'' this useless region.

If the Reds even had a notion about the importance of an economy.

The Continental Republic of Sylvania must agree with Ivernia, we are not prepared to go into a major full scale military operation to defend the third world. Sylvania accepted Asylan as a member to the Agreement knowing full well that the Eastern Cape could become a problem for Asylan and while we will answer the call to defend the Asylan homeland, we cannot answer a call to use hard force to defend Augustaborg. We will however continue to offer political support and the use of Sylvanian ports for Asylanian ships in transit to the Erdenshire Naval base. If the Carentanians wish to continue to prop of failing states and revolutions like the one in Yujin or in the Cape, then let them, their economies will be that much worse off and their military assets spread that much thinner.

We understand the Ivernia High Command's trepidations. But we do believe that this area has significant value.

  • This is a small land area with a population of a mostly urbanized 1 million individuals. We believe this area is ripe for easy reconstruction and with a unified populace under one ethnic majority there would be little in the way of instability.
  • The success of this state would spurn an even greater series of instability and potential rebellion in Carentia and RDTO hands.
  • This situation will not escalate to war if we take the proper precautions.
  • A shining beacon of democracy and successful capitalism would prove even more disastrous to RDTO intentions.
  • The financial burden enterprise has almost solely been in Asylan hands. We will not trouble any other nation to this respect.
  • With Carentanian attention fixed so heavily on Augustaborg, Ivernia can now have the luxury in operating in these other flashpoints without Carentanian involvement or a reduced involvement.
  • And most importantly it was the right thing to do, not supporting a fledgling democratic nation would be an affront to the very agreemtn we all took when representing the Triparte.

I assure you my friends. We can be successful.

This is a small land area with a population of a mostly urbanized 1 million individuals. We believe this area is ripe for easy reconstruction and with a unified populace under one ethnic majority there would be little in the way of instability.

This tiny city of 1 million individuals lived in huts and lived a hunter gather lifestyle only years ago. It would take decades of careful management and spending in order to make this city in any way prosperous and frankly Ivernia cannot bring itself to the brink of war with the RDTO over such a small city with such little potential.

The success of this state would spurn an even greater series of instability and potential rebellion in Carentia and RDTO hands.

The RDTO nations and it's people are completely and utterly immune to our propaganda in the face of the Red Propaganda Machine and any Tripartite success is immediately twisted and turned for their mindless drones of a populace into a demonization story of our prosperous and free nations. If the RDTO was susceptible to looking past it's own mind they would have seen what a poor idea it was to even get involved in the Eastern Cape at this magnitude. We in the Tripartite are attempting to use their close mindedness against them, not throw millions of our soldiers onto the fires of war in the hope we score a good news piece against them.

This situation will not escalate to war if we take the proper precautions.

There are no precautions that can bee taken when rattling a sabre at Carentania. Carentania is the Great Hawk of the World and has absolutely no problem with throwing it's own people into the meat grinder for any cause. While our nations are accountable to our people, their people simple follow commands like machines.

A shining beacon of democracy and successful capitalism would prove even more disastrous to RDTO intentions.

If only prosperous capitalist nations present in the world was all it took to harm the RDTO. When you see green, they see blue. You will never convince them of our ways.

The financial burden enterprise has almost solely been in Asylan hands. We will not trouble any other nation to this respect.

The High Kingdom does not want this burden upon the Asylan people. You are our allies, we wish for your nation to prosper. You are our first priority, as a member of the Tripartite. We do not wish to see your good people scattered across the Eastern Cape mowed down by RDTO machine guns, or weighed down with the extreme financial cost of babysitting this backwater.

With Carentanian attention fixed so heavily on Augustaborg, Ivernia can now have the luxury in operating in these other flashpoints without Carentanian involvement or a reduced involvement.

Carentania is already transfixed on the Eastern Cape. This is a situation Ivernia already benefits from. But now we are having our gaze fixed on the Eastern Cape, even more so with the aspect of War. We are losing military projection potential, if we need to address this situation.

And most importantly it was the right thing to do, not supporting a fledgling democratic nation would be an affront to the very agreemtn we all took when representing the Triparte.

The Tripartite Agreement cannot save every people of every region in the world. Planning to win in the long game means sometimes we must make the hard decisions. We have limited resources, and democratic nations where the will of our own people comes first. Our Agreement is still new, even if it does make big waves. We must fight the strategic battles first. We must secure important areas of the world first, before we begin battling in the Third World, which will only drain our resources and our electoral support for no gain.

I assure you my friends. We can be successful.

We in the High Kingdom of Ivernia believe that at this time ''success'' would come at too far a cost for too little.

It appears Carentania believe it can take this step forward. It has demanded that Asylan hand over the Erdenshire base, something that we will never do. While we understand that why the Triparte would not want to be dragged along with a war over a territory only the ambitions of our corrupt President was interested in, we fully expect that the Triparte will honor their agreements in defending its sovereign lands.

Asylan forces in Augustaborg have retreated to Erdenshire significantly strengthening its defensive base. We wish to draw upon our allies to take stock of this situation.

On the Augustaborg Situation

As all of our partners in the Tripartite Agreement, the Free Cities' League stands on Asylan's side politically. We strongly support your efforts to get rid the democratically-minded populace of Augustaborg from the claws of socialist imperialism. However, we must agree with the High Kingdom and the Continental Republic - a reckless approach might throw all of us into an endless war in the end of the world. While we understand the concerns of Asylan, having also territories near the Cape, we do not wish to risk an extremely tense situation. As such, we will, as a measure of caution, increase our garrison in the Outerseas Province of Providence and will provide all intelligence assistance Asylan asks. As the situation develops, we can consider more direct involvement, but, at the present stage, we present only total political support and unconditioned intelligence support.

On the Augustaborg Situation

In order to solve the already tense situation, the Free Cities' League presents the following solution, which will be a compromise that will avoid military conflict, appease partially the socialists and the ICD and secure a democratic future for Augustaborg. An international committee, composed by representatives of Asylan, the Tripartite Agreement and the ICD will oversee a referendum in Augustaborg on the subject of independence from the Eastern Cape. Of course that the FCL will covertly fund all campaign for independence, but we would keep an image of impartial arbiters only trying to secure the democratic process.
