Its nearly that time of year again, folks!

Despite the looming prospect of global war once again, BergCon 2018 is opening its doors to all comers. If you have comics, movies, tv programmes, toys, electronic games consoles or video games to show off, BergCon is the hot, hot, happeningest place to be!

Running for a grand total of 10 years now, BergCon has earned a reputation as the highest place to show off your nerd wares! Literally, its like, nine thousand feet above sea level.

If you want to participate, just fill out the form below. Each country is allowed up to 3 Booths/Panels to show off their wares. If you want to host an Expo event, and talk to a crowd of bored journalists for an hour, then PM me your idea and what you're showing off. Can be anything! This is all for for fun so feel free to go nuts.

Description: Named after the colours of the uniform of the Central Himyari Police (the Natalian Police), the TV show follows Robert Stafford, a newly graduate officer who is tasked with solving a case of a murder. While the case is easily solved, the trial runs smoothly and the accused is condemned to labour for life, problems start to appear. The escape of the murderer and the pressure of politicians who want to see the murderer disappear once and for all so that they can cover their own skin send Robert Stafford on a quest through New Cathay, Eiffelland, Trivodnia, Loago and the Socialist Implarian Republic. To manage to continue his quest while keeping a low profile, Stafford is integrated in the cadres of the International Reconnaissance Service (the Natalian foreign intelligence agency) so he can contact the Natalian sleeper agents to help him.

Description: Three Separate Booths which will be selling copies of out-of-print and new comics, graphic novels, and DVDs from the 'Collections' of various classic Havok Comics Animated Universe cartoons. An expo event featuring a reel clip of the new 'Havok Cinematic Universe' series of movies which have been launched by Havok! Comics, including the trailers for the new Mahogany Hound movie and the Germanic language Knight Errant movie, as well as listing a timeline for launch of further movies and information on the matter. Both the stars of the Mahogany Hound movie (Aedan MacAllister of Mahogany Hound 1989 fame and new comer Tristan McCoy), and the [Bergenheimer!] star of the Knight Errant movie, Geoff Humbrick, will be present along with the chief of the movie division and the directors of each movie to be launched in the next year. A separate series of panels taking questions on the direction of the newly 'rebranded' Havok! Entertainment, and its plans for the future be it in comics, animation, or movies (Live action or otherwise). To those who purchase something at one of the booths, or those who participate in any of the panel, or the expo event, blind brown bags will be given out featuring the first issue of a random Havok! Comics title, given the recent decision to reboot the entire line.

Description: Preparing for the launch of a new set of computer entertainment consoles (including a personal computer/video game hybrid in the Aetherbox), CarrickAether prepares for 'Generation 4' of its consoles, after the disastrously named Konig of Electronic Games, or KEG, system which was their last home console offering, and following up their long used and popular 'VirtuToy Color' portable game system. With its game, it promises a long requested returning franchise, 'MonéDan', which has not had a sequel since 'MonéDan Amethyst and MonéDan Quartz', and suprisingly, no return from long time platform mascot and high-jumping portly retalian knight 'Don Cario', but it promises to reveal a new RPG game series known simply at the moment by 'Project Fragarach'. More games are coming, but this is about the specific series to be launched first party with the systems, and its presumed best sellers.

Description: West Wolf Animation Alliance, the representatives of Seodae Anime and Manhwa producers when it comes to exporting their titles elsewhere in the world or getting them more notoriety, will be running an expo event showcasing the upcoming and/or best series Seodae has to offer, and an accompanying pair of booths will be offered to allow individual titles to be seen, looked at, and learned about.
Outlet: Expo Event, Booths to look over the Manhwa or watch looping episodes of the anime, and potentially buy some collected volumes of it.

 

[Bergenheim]

Bergcon began as scheduled, but with a visibly smaller number of attendees than last year. It was to be expected- many had been put off by rumours of war, and paranoid fears of airplanes being shot down on the approach into Bergenheim airspace.

The organisers were grateful that many did show up, however, including a fairly diverse slice of presentations and media from across the Nerdosphere.​

Day One​

Zuckerdorf Films
First up, the Zuckerdorf Films team did a special presentation, revealing they had been working on their first, all-Bergenheimer independently produced movie, Saga Von Die Stahltraume, a dark, brooding, stylish movie inexpensively shot in and around Bergenheim's castles and old millitary bunkers, about a fictional military dictator from the 50s who dreamed of world conquest.

The movie's trailer was politely received, and included snippets suggesting a dark political comedy. Most notably, the scene where the unnamed Fuhrer attempts to reach a subordinate over the telephone, and shouts repeatedly for him to be brought here immediately. The scene has gone viral with many parodies, substituting various famous politicians and celebrities known for their Little Emperor complexes.

Given ongoing global events, The tongue-in-cheek liberal anti-war sentiment of such a movie seems more timely than ever.

Once over, the crowd mingled and asked questions freely of the Zuckerdorf Films Team and some of the actors in the movie. The star of the movie, playing the Fuhrer himself, Grunewald Brandt, was also present, and he arrived on stage dressed in a highly exaggerated uniform clearly inspired by early 1900s Eiffellander imperial military dress. Photos of him like this were later available for autographs, and were clearly a popular must-buy.


Next up was the highly anticipated West Wolf Animation Alliance Expo Event, or WeWolfExpo.

A large crowd showed up despite still being relatively early in the day, eager to see the latest animes from Seodae and the East. The stylised genre of animation has become only ever more popular over the years, and with escapism from grim realities highly sought after, the fantastical, comical and sometimes perverted shows offered by WeWolf have grown rapid cult followings.

After this the Karaoke Contest kicked some life into what had been a slow start to BergCon, and hundreds showed up in costume to participate.

The Day concluded with the ever popular Berg-Rave, live techno/industrial grindcore music pumping out the beat as many worked up a sweat before retiring to heavily air conditioned hotel rooms or the Conference center bar, to drink traditional schnapps or a more colourful imported drink.
