The Governor has yet to make a public statement, but neighbors have stated seeing a "strange man" walking around the neighborhood. Federal Government to build a new dam!

The Federal Government has passed legislation for the construction of a new dam, located on the Heibe River south east of Brakw. The construction will begin in April of next year, as the weather would be too cold otherwise to work on the new dam and will cost around 3.6 million Moches. This will create a more reliable source of energy and will create at least 10,000 jobs, and will also reduce flooding in the area caused by snow melting in the spring.

President promises a more global approach

President Jacob Hössler made a bold statement, one that cost him some votes. He promised to make Geotri a global competitor, saying that he will form strong, lasting alliances with trustworthy nations and promote international trade. Polls now show that his numbers dropped from 72% to 64%, but gained praise from his supporters saying that this is a "turn for the better, for all of us." He states that he does this to promote capitalism and democracy world wide, creating a more free and prosperous world.

Federal Council passes bill that provides subsidies to industries to export goods

The Federal Council announced Sunday afternoon that they just passed a bill that will with the hopes that foreign goods will create competition for Geotrian producers. The bill states that "Businesses who conduct trade with those outside Geotri will receive a "With Geotria finally leaving the recession that has plagued the country for years we can begin to grow as a economical powerhouse," Councilman Berndt Preisner said Monday. Many industries like Heilthal Motor Works (OOC- essentially think of BMW and that's my equivalent) have already increased production and plan to begin looking to make deals with other nations. (OOC- if anyone wants to start some sort of trade agreement or anything just PM me or something and we can work something out, I'll be exporting mostly German-esque goods)

Geotrian Navy begins massive overhaul

The Geotrian Navy has begun a massive overhaul, with the objective of "becoming a modern navy able to defend our nation and our allies and to protect Geotrian trade world-wide." Currently plans are to expand the small Merchant Marine fleet and to develop modern ships capable of going toe to toe with superpowers. "Currently our fleet is only a fraction of what it should be", says Navy Admiral Ronald Knacke of the 3rd Flotilla, "If we can just become a naval power we would be able to protect our interests abroad and fend of any naval threat that would threaten our great nation."

Presidential election having a big change in polls

New polls show that a new party has emerged called the Vereinigte Sozialistische Partei, or the VSP, with large support from the public. With their candidate, Adolf Schmied, spoke of their agenda at a rally in the capital of Brakw, claiming to work for the people, an expansion of industry and working wages as well as large support for the military. This new party has drastically changed how this election will end, with the amount of public support behind the VSP President Jacob Hössler has suffered major loss in the polls dropping to 52%, and Schmied going to 36%, and Sara Friedl at 12%. Few on the Federal Council have started to their party allegiance, with the VSP only holding currently 12 of the 338 seats total. There numbers are expected to grow, and he may end up winning the election.

Geotrian Naval expansion

The Geotrian Navy has added several new warships to its arsenal, mostly destroyers, ahead of international criticism. With many nations, primarily Socialist World Republic and Pelasgia, calling for no further developments to be made. Calling it an "Arms Race" that will "Increase risks of violent action." "Currently there are no signs of production stopping and this may not only be with just the Navy," Secretary of War Johan Waldstein said in a statement yesterday, "We may have suffered some diplomatic integrity but what good will that do if we are unable to defend our country, these issues will be a problem for the next president."

Adolf Schmied gives speech at Brakw

Adolf Schmied, leader of the VSP, gave what might have been one of the most compelling speeches to join his movement. In his speech he calls for everyone to renounce the evil ways of Communism and work together to turn Geotri into a Major Power capable of forming what he calls "Our rightful claim on Germania and Gallia." He cites that we have been "Cheated at every opportunity by the world community," and that "enough is enough." With each passing day the polls are constantly changing in his favor. Now he and the current president, Jacob Hössler, are neck and neck at 45% each and Sarah Friedl dropping to 10%. And now 69 seats have stated that they change political parties and have joined the VSP, this has happened before but on this scale is unheard of.

The new Navy begins to flex it's muscles

The navy has constructed several new warships and feels it is ready to begin showing what it is capable of. Starting training exercises of the coast of Geotri it hopes to show that "We are not a nation to be trifled with," said Navy Admiral Ronald Knacke in a statement Thursday. This is still amid much global criticism, "with tensions rising in the Kalahari Sea it is only a matter of time before the spark ignites and sends us into a war we do not wish to fight," political commentator Walter Seemann said on a radio talk show. What will happen with the current buildup of navies and with global tension in the Kalahari Sea region makes all nervous for what will happen in the future.

The Honorable Jacob Hössler
President of Geotri
Brakw, Geotri

I am writing to you today to seek clarification from the Geotri Government over recent comments from political commentator Walter Seemann. From his words, the interpretation that the Islamic Republic received is that the Geotri State believes that war in the Kalahari Sea is not a preventative calamity, but rather an inevitable event.

I do not believe that the Islamic Republic has interpreted Mr. Seemann’s words in error and you must understand how such wording can be disconcerting to the Islamic Republic. Geotri is a nation far from the Kalahari Sea and its people are rarely affected by the affairs of the straits. Much to the converse, the Jurzani homeland lays along the Kalahari Sea and this area has been our home for a millennium. We are a nation of 26 million people and the vast majority of these people live only miles from the beaches where the mighty Kalahari meets the Jurzani land.

I hope now that you can see how such comments as Mr. Seemann’s present a direct threat to Jurzani men, women, and children. War is not inevitable in this region and I have full faith in the governments of the Kalahari Sea to preserve the peace. It is with this in mind that I do hope that Mr. Seemann’s comments are not the opinion of the Geotri Government.

Sincerely,
Abdul Bari Jahani

To: Abdul Bari Jahani, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of the Jurzan

Political commentator Walter Seemann did indeed state that the situation in the Kalahari Sea is inevitable, but he looks at it not as a small conflict. He sees it, in his opinion, that that area is currently a playground for large powers such as SWR, Pelasgia, and Kadikistan. Even if the situation diffused in the Kalahari Sea it would simply just rise up in another area of the world, he does acknowledge the abruptness of his wording but we are talking about something larger than conflict. The possibility of dragging other irrelevant nations into such conflict possibly causing a global conflict, which will add up the economic cost and the loss of human life exponentially. All around hope this situation will end peacefully but once again Seemann sees this as a playground for superpowers to test each other. We humbly apologize for alerting your citizens but the situation scares many for the possible consequences it can bring.

Sincerely,
Bastion Storl

Tension mount in the Kalahari Sea

Tensions mount to an all time high with what appears to be some sort of conflict has occurred on the Jurzani island of Farah, when artillery forces from Kadikistan reportedly "leveled the entire island." This comes days after Kadikistan announced it's mobilization of its Southern Navy, the fate of this region hangs on the balance. Many hope that this deescalates before armed conflict occurs, conflict that can spread to our homeland and abroad.

VSP continues to grow

Polls continue to show that the VSP is gaining momentum and may win this election, with the VSP nominee Adolf Schmied with 46% and President Jacob Hössler with 42%. The largest growth is occurring on the Federal Council, with the VSP currently holding 86 seats out of 338. Adolf Schmied is quickly garnering a reputation as a passionate and skilled public speaker, with a loud commanding voice that appeals to many. And the polls show this, if Hössler wants any chance of winning he needs to do well at the debates.

Sarah Friedl drops out of race, supports Schmied

In a statement Sarah Friedl made on Thursday, she stated to drop out of the race due to the unlikely probability of her winning. She also said that she supports Schmied as "Someone who will bring fresh ideas to the table." With the election constantly taking turns it now boils down to who will campaign better in the waning months of this years election. The polls show that it is now the VSP with 52% and Hössler with 48%.

Anti-Communist feelings spark violence

Many anti-communist feelings being stirred up by Adolf Schmied are starting to have ripple effects. Several VSP supporters took to the streets Saturday night and attacked businesses and buildings owned by communists. Leaving 13 dead and 2 of the 6 suspects are in police custody. Schmied, in a statement he made the morning after, has stated "That we must not defeat the Communists with war and violence, for these are tools Communists are well versed in. We must therefor defeat them peacefully and with words of wisdom. I admire their willingness to defeat the Communists but this is not the way."

Earthquake strikes the city of Racow!

The city of Racow suffered a 6.5 magnitude earthquake on Monday, the 24th, with extensive damage striking the damage. Early estimates predict at least 800 people died and another 3,000 were injured as a result of the earthquake. Several buildings have extensive damage and must be demolished. According to the Mayor of Racow, Jakob Schaus, "The damage done here in the past day, is almost unbearable. We must however painful persevere through the hardships and rebuild the city, recover the dead and treat the wounded." There are currently no estimates as to the estimated damages yet.

Peace?

The Socialist World Republic has called for a peace summit on the delicate situation in the Kalahari Sea Region. With many major as well as minor countries attending, many hope for the summit to produce peace that will further stabilize the region. This comes amidst the high tension with countries building bases on the island nation of Justiza, as well "Imperialistic" behaviors of many countries. Hopefully those attending set aside any personal respite and sacrifice any, if there is any, "Imperialistic" intentions for the sake of peace.

Adolf Schmied, our new President?

Adolf Schmied continues to beat Jacob Hössler in the polls, and as the election comes to a close it may mean that he will win the election. The latest polls show that Adolf is at 57% and Jacob is at 43%, and the gap is closing with each passing day. The gap is also closing in the Federal Council with the VSP having 113 seats out of 338, only 46 seats away from having the majority. With each speech Adolf gives the more support he gains, more and more are flocking to his speeches than those Jacob is giving. With the election just around the corner, Jacob Hössler has to campaign harder than his opponent to even stand a chance.

Recover Efforts begin in Racow

The death toll continues to rise as more and more bodies are being recovered, the death toll is now at 1,200 and the wounded number up to 3,400. Estimated costs are in the millions, and several buildings destroyed. Originally reported to be only a 6.8, it was miscalculated. It was actuality a 7.1. Many families grieve for those who died on the tragic day, but many more are assisting officials in repairing the damaged city. Costs are estimated to be around $60 million and the effects, for the rest of these peoples lives.

Navy to begin exercises Today

The Geotrian Navy is currently out testing the readiness and skill of the newly added ships to the fleet and their crew. Currently leading officials in the Navy have stated that they have notified neighboring countries that this is only an exercise and is not intended to threaten any of the fine neighboring countries. Currently the exercise will last from the 29th of October to the 4th of November. The routine will include anti-submarine exercises, surface warfare exercises, and a few others.

Election Day just a few weeks away

With the election just 2 weeks away (on the 16th), it is only a matter of time before one of the two candidates is elected to the Presidential Office. Currently the polls are still in favor of Adolf Schmied (VSP) at 55% and his opponent Jacob Hössler (KP) is at 45%. As support for the VSP increases, so does its representation in the Federal Council. Currently the VSP has 124 seats out of 338. Many more seats are expected to shift over to the VSP as 56 seats in the Federal Council are up for election.

Kadikistani Aggression?

According to recent newspapers in Kadikistan, they have mobilized a large force of anywhere between 75,000-260,000 near the border of Kadikistan and Jurzan. This comes amidst reports that Kadikistan is also moving native Jurzani from their homes to what seems like an internment camp in the far north. This has worried several officials stating that sights may turn from Justiza to Kadikistan, and that war between the Jurzani and the Kadikistani is at the breaking point. It will be likely a costly war for the Jurzani who will hopefully see support from her (OOC-or him) allies.

Adolf Schmied loses ground

According to several polls Adolf Schmied seems to have dropped 7 points leaving him at 48% and his opponent, Jacob Hössler, rises to 52%. The large shift comes from those formally voting for Sarah Friedl, they support neither candidate but would still rather one over the other. With the election drawing nearer and nearer the polls show just how close this election truly will be, with it being at most 10 point difference between the two candidates. However support continues to grow in the Federal Council with the VSP now holding 128 out of 338 seats. Within 20 seats of becoming the majority.

Communist support dwindles as the VSP makes gains

Support for the communist party, Volskepartei, dwindles as many have been reported to have been forced to see the views of the VSP. But the growth for the VSP continues as they no have 135 out of 338 seats in the Federal Council and their presidential nominee, Adolf Schmied, reaches to 49% in public polls. The next president will have to worry about several things, like the situation occurring in the Kalahari Sea Region, the struggle in northern Scania, rebuilding the city of Racow, and global trade. The next president will have their hands full and will help shape the future of this country.

Recovery efforts still continue in Racow

Recovery efforts still continue in the city of Racow as many recover from the aftermath of the earthquake that struck the city and region on the 24th of October. Rebuilding has also begun in the city with some smaller buildings on the outskirts of the city rebuilt. Death toll is now at 1,256 and the wounded number 3,421. Many medical staff and hundreds of volunteers coming from neighboring towns to assist in the recovery and rebuilding of Racow.

Flying saucer seen in sky above Bremgarten countryside

Several reports, including testimonies from local police officers, have stated that there was an unidentified flying object located outside of the city of Bremgarten. Reports state that this UFO was shaped like a saucer and moved in such an unnatural way, they also reported that it was metallic in color and had many strange lights flashing from the sides. The Air Force has made a statement stating that this was a test flight for a new jet, however many skeptics think that this is a lie. It has left many uncertain as to whether or not we are truly alone in the galaxy.

Train derails, only 4 dead

A train going from Heilthal to Brakw derailed Thursday afternoon due to faulty railroad tracks. Sadly 4 men died working aboard the train, and the cargo was severely damaged resulting in tens of thousands of dollars in damages. The train was carrying cars built by HMW that were to be delivered to Brakw to be shipped out to foreign countries. The railroad company, Brakw Railroad Company, issued a statement stating that this was "a horrible mistake, and we will send inspectors out to ensure that this does not happen again." The families of the dead are set to sue BRC for the loss of life due to negligence, currently they are set to meet in court December 12th to begin the first of the court hearings.

The Fascist Takeover

The VSP has gained almost complete control of government with few seats held by former major political parties. Adolf Schmeid has proclaimed himself Chancellor of Brakw and ousted his predecessor, Ludwig Steiner. He announced Heinrich Keisenger as his President, (second in command) and has set his close friends in positions of power. Chancellor Schmeid has stated an increase of military, and a major focus on increasing industrial output. He came to power before the turn of the new year and they began the massive reconstruction of the government. Many are willing to give up personal freedoms for the growth of the country, with freedom of the press and religion being heavily hampered.

Communist leaders locked up after riot

Prominent leaders of the Volkspartei and the UDP have been arrested due to a recent riot against the recently elected Chancellor Schmeid. This comes amid controversial legislature that states "Communists are a threat to national security and should be detained and tried in the court of law." Currently the Volkspartei and the UDP have gone underground with hopes to avoid arrests, however they emerged this morning rioting and looting the capital, Brakw. Currently 54 rioters have been arrested and among those 13 were former councilmen, the riots have died down and are being controlled by the local police force with assistance by the Armee-Reservekorps.

Remaining Communist parties leave Geotri

The remaining members of the Volkspartei and UDP who were not arrested earlier in the week have fled the country. Many are currently in refuge in neighboring countries, many left on foot and make shift rafts. "We ask our neighboring leaders, these criminals who are leaving Geotri must be extradited back to us. They have made themselves enemies of the state and must face a proper trial in the eyes of their neighbors," Chancellor Schmeid said in a statement this morning. Of the 54 arrested Saturday, 12 have been sentenced to death for conspiring against the state, planning acts of domestic terrorism, and damage of public and private property. 30 were sentenced to 5 years of prison and a 3k fine for damage of private and public property, and the remaining 12 must complete 50 hours of community service for graffiti.

Wildfire West of Brakw!

The region to the west of Brakw has been in a prolonged drought that has resulted in several wildfires, currently fire fighters are combating the fierce flames as they creep closer and closer to the capital of Brakw. Several towns have been damaged by the towns, although the damage so far has been minimal many fear that it will strike the capital soon. There have only been 4 victims claimed by the fire, a mother, a father, their daughter, and a firefighter. The firefighter died attempting to save the family but the roof collapsed on all 4, with only their son, 13, surviving.

"The Democratic Republic of Kadikistan hereby offers full and unconditional political asylum to any and all members of the People's Party of Geotri. As members of the People's Party and thus the International Association of Marxist-Leninovist Parties they will be greeted warmly as brothers. We are shocked and appalled at the latest political developments towards fascism in Geotri and urge our comrades still in Geotri not to abandon the class struggle and resist to the best of their abilities and without putting their lives on the line needlessly. As much as we are shocked by the recent developments in Geotri, so too are we about the lack of international response against the fascist take-over. It seems that the so-called 'democracies' of Europe seem focussed only on what they describe as 'communist violence' originating from Kadikistan and the International while allowing fascists to indulge themselves. This once again confirms that the Marxist-Leninovist social-economic analyses is correct in saying that at the end of the day capitalism will always ally themselves with fascist demagogues in their continuous fight against their own proletariat."
