Our biggest concern is that the drug trade is continuing to spread, even with increased efforts. While we do admire you continued increasing efforts to stop it, it hasn't stopped and has continued to rise in demand and supply in the past years. This is a problem affecting millions across the world, and it requires greater effort. Which is way legislation is being passed in Geotri to put forth greater effort.

However we can't rid this problem alone, we have to cut off the head of the snake of production. And after years of research and narcotic lab raids we have discovered that most are originating from Frontier Lands Drug Cartels. We see it that it would be easier to stem the flow of the trade at the source than to criticize someone who is suffering at the hands of this forsaken illegal drug trade. We can't exactly just start conducting raids on these cartels in foreign land, it is both morally and legally wrong to send armed men to deal with another nations problem without their consent. This does not mean we would approve signing a treaty allowing us to conduct raids, this is just an example.

I hope you can agree when we say that the easiest way to deal with the problem is by cutting off the head of the snake. And by allowing them to persist in illegal activities it will continue harm both your own people, and people abroad. This has gone far too long, we must stop these cartels.

The leadership of Geotri should realize that an oversimplification of the drugs traffic and consumption is not only ignorant, but also dangerous. One can not simply resolve this problem by throwing armed forces at it. If Brakw is truly concerned about dealing with the source of this problem it should monitor and analyse why the demand for narcotics is so high in the west. Drugs offer the working class a poisoned escape from their social-economic realities and improving those would undoubtedly prove effective in drug prevention. In any case Geotri's primary concern should be Geotri itself so they can first clean their own streets before wanting to clean those of others.

The war against illegal drugs is waged in Kadikistan as much as it is in neighbouring Kashtan. Historically Kadikistan has always been a transit country for the export of narcotics from east to west, but we are glad to announce that years of repression and effective warfare are paying of in terms of domestic drug use. We are not happy at Geotri's proposal to deploy forces in the frontier lands to interfere in internal affairs and violate sovereignty. All is being done to limit the traffic and distribution of illegal drugs.

Signed,
Petar Kujundzic

The fight against drugs is a national responsibility that can be aided by voluntary international frameworks and the Republic will continue to do its part in the fight against drugs, just as it expects other nations to do theirs.

The IDRK will with fiery zeal oppose any and all ideas about sending interventionists into Kashtanese territory, and any who dare venture into Republican territory without permissions will find a tragic end at the receiving end of the full might of the ever-ready defenders of Democracy. We stand in unison with Ivar on this matter.

(OOC: I actually got my words mixed up, I meant to say that as a course of action this is something we were against.... even if it were legally codified it were possible. Sorry)

I offer my sincere condolences for the typo in my most recent message, "This does not mean we would approve signing a treaty allowing us to conduct raids, this is just an example." I redact this statement due to my disorderly wording on this topic, I never would dare suggest the sending of armed forces during peacetime to deter this War on Drugs. I once again apologize for my grammatical error, and I hope you may forgive me.

Bill Proposed to Unterhaus
A new bill has been proposed to the Unterhaus, which gives the government greater power to stem the flow and consumption of illegal drugs. Some of the main points of the bill proposes that materials, especially over the counter drugs, are to be heavily regulated and reduce the amount that can be purchased within a certain time frame. It also gives increased funding to Border Patrol, airport security, and port security, to increase their numbers and to also update and evolve drug searches at places of entry to the country. The bill also mentions to "Not discriminate while searching and detaining those involved in the Illegal Drug Trade." This was put in place to reduce racial profiling and to focus more on limiting the Drug Trade. The Unterhaus is due to begin voting on the bill in one month time, which gives them time to review and revise the bill.

The Free State welcomes the positive moves by Geotri regarding the War on Drugs, as it recognises the pivotal role it plays as primarily a consumer end for illegal substances. Only once we have stopped demand can we end supply.

Amending of Bill 21930 "Drug Enforcement and Regulation Bill"
After a recent joint statement made by the Trivodnian and Kashtanese governments asking for financial aid and assistance on the "War on Drugs," has made government officials go back to the drawing board to amend and revise Bill 21930. While the base bill has been generally approved of, they may possibly amend it to add a payment system to the two governments, and possible reviewing of legal punishment for certain recreational drug use. Experts speculate that the bill will continue to be tossed around in the Unterhaus for another week or two.

Trivodnia is glad at least one state in Europe is hearing our concerns. We look forward to seeing how the Lower House moves forward with these amendments.

Kashtan welcomes the willingness of the political organs of the Geotrian state to consider cooperation in the international fight against drugs and hopes that Geotri can serve as an inspiration for other governments across Europe to engage in a constructive dialog that will lead to the diminishment of narcotic influences across all continents. The IDRK hopes to intensify its existing dialogue with Geotri regarding this issue in the context of the upcoming session of the International Open Forum.

To:
Department of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Geotri
From: Royal Office for Foreign Affairs of the Gedelands
Concerning: Joint Operations Countering Drug Trafficking

Dear Mrs, Mr,

The Government of the Gedelands formally and unanimously congratulate the Kingdom of Geotri on adapting and applying its latest legislation in the fight against drugs and other illegal substances. Legislation however is but one aspect of this campaign, taking further steps is another. In an attempt to quicken our victory and stamp out this international filth, we humbly suggest to partake in a series of joint coast guard operations in the Gap of Gedeland and the Wergorent Sea, thus supervising our neighbouring southern coastlines and diminishing illegal transports.

We will await your reply.

Yours faithfully,

Bill 21930 Passed by Unterhaus
Bill 21930, "The Drug Enforcement and Regulation Bill," has been passed by the Unterhaus and has moved into the Oberhaus according to sources within the Unterhaus. The bill was amended to include the revision of legal punishments for recreational drug use, reducing time served in jail and increased time in rehabilitation for usage only, drug selling is still punishable by a period of jail time. The other amendment made to the bill was the inclusion of two loans offered to both Kashtanese and Trivodnian governments worth an undisclosed amount. The bill is now currently sitting in the Oberhaus to be reviewed and either ratified or rejected and sent back to the Unterhaus for review.

Bill 21930 Passed!
Bill 21930 went through a voting session of the Oberhaus and has been ratified, according to sources within. With the passage of this bill not only has the charges for illegal drug use changed, it also allotted for loans, of up 100 million dollars, to for Kashtanese and Trivodnian governments to aid in their War on Drugs. While many liberals are rejoicing this bill, and its reduced punishment of drug use, several conservatives have called this "A step backward in dealing with the drug problem." With many conservatives calling for "Harsher punishments," and increase screening at ports of entry into Geotri. With opinions divided and many urging for the repeal of the newly ratified law, it will be a continual issue for politicians for years to come.

The Free State thanks Geotri for recognising the crucial role consumer nations like it have to play in the War on Drugs, and also for the very generous financial assistance offered to us.

The Republic commends the Geotrian parliament for the ratification of Bill 21930. The passage of this pill is a crucial first step when it comes to Western countries recognizing their role in the global drug epidemic, the results of which are being primarily shouldered by countries outside of Gallo-Germania. As stated before, the IDRK hopes to intensify its dialog on this issue with Geotri.

Trivodnian Support on the Rise
A middle aged woman and man news anchors are seated behind a desk shuffling papers.

Male news anchor: "Tensions are mounting as Crotobaltislavonia and Trivodnia, with Chancellor Kahnemann of Trivodnia denouncing, in his words, 'Schizophrenic' foreign policy. With several reversals put in place by Crotobaltislavonian officials, such as the opening and closing of borders as well as proposing an extradition legislation with Trivodnia while their borders were closed."

Female news anchor: "On the flip-side there have been several reports of Trivodnians crossing the border and kidnapping people, with the Trivodnian government denouncing these claims as 'fake' and 'meant to stir regional tension.' The validity of these reports have yet to be released by 'Big Brother' and many doubt they ever will."

The image shifts from viewing the news anchors to viewing a map of the borders between Crotobaltislavonia and Trivodnia.

Male news anchor: "As a result of interaction of both of these nations, it has come up with some mixed results. Firstly, the Social Democratic Alliance in Trivodnia has pledged to remove the neutrality clause in its Constitution. Something that has been in place since 1921 and could result in open conflict. Secondly, it also has prompted for legislation to be proposed for a female conscription in Trivodnia as well."

The image then switches back to the anchors.

Female news anchor: "We will keep an eye on the situation and report whenever anything new pops up, in the meantime tune in tomorrow for a special report on the War on Drugs, this is RNN."

A Bloody Christmas in Crotobaltislavonia?
Early reports of a possible civil conflict in the capital city of Crotobaltislavonia between soldiers, presumably of CBS origin, and the Presidential Palace. Confirmed by both news agencies in CBS and by the local people, many fear that a possible conflict may truly engulf the nation.

"We are monitoring the situation in Crotobaltislavonia as it unfolds, we have issued a travel warning and have urged all Geotrian citizens residing within Crotobaltislavonia to remain indoors and to refrain from traveling outside," König Wilhelm Wächtler IV said in a statement released this afternoon. With the world watching the events as they happen in CBS, we will be updating as we hear more news about the situation.

Updates on Trivodnia and CBS
With tensions continuing to rise, Trivodnia has declared Martial Law and suspended the election in a recent move made by President Lauterpacht. He has also called up both the reserves and the gendarmerie to deal with the possible threat from its neighbors, Kadikistan and Crotobaltislavonia.

Nichtstein has voiced its open support for the Trivodnians, and Kadikistan is currently toying around with the idea of placing economic sanctions on Trivodnia.
