Elia Neven holds the State of the Nation address in front of the Senate

The State of the Nation address is a yearly speech given by the head of the government in front of the senate, presenting the state of the country and announcing the new policies for the next year. Usually the address is given on the 15th of February, but this year, the speech has been delayed by the chaos of the coup organised by Saig Madec and afterwards by the Snowdrop Revolution. Now, with the election and the referendum finished, the state of the nation was given by Benadur Elia Neven in front of the Prometheist dominated Senate.

The Benadur surprised more radical members of her party and opposition alike, as she started her speech with a quote from the Bible, from Acts, chapter four, calling for unity and solidarity among the people of Caledonia. The state of the Nation address comes after a lengthy meeting between the Abbot of the Dulas Monastery, Abbot Ronan, who is recognised as the highest authority of the Church in Caledonia and the main leaders of the Prometheist League and the Socialist Christian Party. The way the speech was opened has made clear what many analysts have thought of when they heard of the meeting between the leaders of the Church and of the state. The Prometheist League will cohabit and even support the Church. There have been concerns during and immediately after the Snowdrop Revolution that the prometheists will break the Church and the state and thus will foster animosity between the people, but it seems that they have been baseless.

In her speech, Elia Neven has called for peace in the north and for the Caitmen to accept what the majority of Caledonians have voted, regarding the republic. She has presented an 10 point plan meant to bring Caledonia back in the forefront of international politics by modernising it and by stripping away the colonial unnecessary baggage.

The Benadur called for the end of international isolation and an opening in the relationship between Caledonia and the Commonwealth of Gallega, while still respecting the provisions of the Northern Status Quo treaty. Economically, the Benadur proclaimed that the government will socialise strategic industries, by issuing bonds to help the workers buy stocks in the companies they work. There will also be a series of nationalisations, especially of the railways, the service companies like the gas and electricity distributors and of the National Corporation of Constructions, a previously government owned construction company which was privatised by the Olivia mab Andras cabinet in 2015.

Socially, the government will push for a new and modern civil code which will legalise same-sex marriage and allow for abortion if the pregnancy endangers the life of the woman, if the fetus is not viable, if the pregnancy resulted from rape, for the others, the Benadur stating that contraception is a more viable and better way of avoiding pregnancy. Elia Neven also stated that the first social dividends will begin to be received by the end of the year, as the economy will stabilise.

As for the relationship with the Church, the Benadur decreed that the prometheist government will support the "Early Roots Theology" of Abbot Ronan of the Dulas Monastery, which will support the creation of christian communities based on the original early Christians whom reject capitalism, vanity and greed and live on distributism and solidarity. The Prometheist League has decided to adopt this form of radical Christianity by allying itself with the Socialist Christian party. Theologically, the "Early Roots Theology" is very similar to the Fraticelli of the medieval times.

Loago: The Caledonian flag has been lowered for the last time in Loago and has been replaced with the Loaging Gold-white-blue flag, as with the disbandment of the Kingdom of Caledonia, the Empire was disbanded too. Reese Bivin, the Lord Protector of Loago has proclaimed the end of the Caledonian colonial empire in Himyar and declared in a speech in front of the amassed people in Maseru that Loago is from now on a republic, deeply entrenched in both Christian and Himyari values. Reese Bivin has received the support of the House of Chiefs to declare the republic and has proclaimed that elections will soon take place for the lower house of the parliament. The declaration of independence of Loago is thought to be accepted and recognised by the government in Dun Eidyn, with the Prometheist government promising to cut the ties with the ex-colony as fast as possible.
Winter Stephanitic Games: The Caledonian team has called the Gunnish organised Winter Stephanitic Games a huge success. The Caledonians have dominated the Games in the early and mid period, only in the last few days being caught from behind by the Kadikistani and Eiffellander teams. The government declared that it will bestow the Ice Cross decoration to all the sportsmen and women whom have won medals in the games and will increase the budget for sports in the future.

Gearda patrol attacked in the Far Northern Republic

After the scandals regarding the anti-social behaviour shown by many Cait citizens of the Far Northern Republic the government has increased the numbers and sizes of Gearda (Guardians) patrols in the rural regions of the old County Votadinia, now renamed into the Far Northern Republic. During the referendum and general elections, some voting booths couldn't be opened, as Caitmen have organised pickets to disrupt the vote. In the past weeks, since the Snowdrop revolution, Gearda cars have been attacked, with eggs, urine or faecal matter being thrown in the northern villagers.

Two days ago, at the Gwrda station in the village of Dun Ru a letter has arrived from an unknown issuer. It was written in Ogham, but it had a footer in Caitish, being signed "For the Kingom of the North". The name Kingdom of the North is an unofficial way of the Caitmen to refer to Caledonia, especially when they complained that the name Caledonia was smothering the cultural diversity of the nation by pushing the Caledonians in front. After it was sent to Dun Glas to be deciphered, the letter was sent to be analysed to the forensics department. It it, the creation of the "Catholic and Royal Army" was proclaimed and the creation of the republic was condemned.

Today, a Gearda patrol made out of five men was found dead in a ditch by a nearby farmer. Each had the same letter in the pockets of their uniforms. Their IDs, wallets and weapons were taken by the attackers. The Gearda has started an investigation and has released a statement stating that it is surprised that five Guards have been killed without managing to report anything or to call for help. In what might have been a surprise attack, as they have been killed with knives, each receiving at least three stab wounds, the attackers might have been acquaintances of the guards.

As a response to the attack, the Dun Eidyn Tribunal has declared the "movement calling for the restoration of the Kingdom of the North" and the "Catholic and Royal Army" as terrorist organisations and has offered a 10,000 Bonn reward to any information which will help the Gwrda to apprehend any member of the said organisations.

Jewish Democratic Republic: Toiseach Lucas Ros has started her tour of the newly federal polities inside the United Republic of Caledonia. The first region for her to visit is the Jewsih Democratic Republic, the smallest of the autonomous polities of Caledonia, with a population of 350,000 out of which 280,000 are Jews. The Toiseach has held a speech in front of a crowd in the Republic's capital, Elmet. Toiseach Lucas Ros has promised that Caledonia will be a safe country for Jews, in the wake of the recent antisemitic surge after the crisis in Crotobaltislavonia and that the United Republic will do anything necessary to promote the auto-determination of the people.
Studies in the name of Ulrike Freudenberger: The University of Dun Eidyn will soon organise an international conference in the name of Ulrike Freudenberger, the Eiffellandian born scholar which flourished much of her life in Caledonia and was specialised in the ethnography and socio-linguistics of Caledonia and Gunnland. Ulrike Freudenberger has written no less than 25 studies about the culture, traditions and music of the Caledonian and Gunnish people and has been in her latter years the dean of the faculty of History, creating a department of Scanian and North Germanian Studies.

    Unionist parties win Loagin election

The United Front, a political alliance made of the League of Prometheists of the Limestone Coast, The Democratic Wala Party, The National Democratic Party, the Co-operative Party, the Social Democratic Party, the Fante Prometheist Front, The Himyari Social Congress and the National Prometheist People's Party have managed to win the general elections in Loago this weekend, which have been nicknamed the first free elections in Loago since 1957.

Pro-Unionist parties have campaigned for the continuous cooperation between the State of Loago and the Caledonian Union, despite the disbandment of the Kingdom of Caledonia and the Empire of Loago. In a ceremony organised at the Combs House, Lord Protector Reese Bivin has recognised and surrendered power over Loago to Prime Minister Gordon Muzorewa, the Chairman of the United Front.

Muzorewa, an ex-Archbishop of Maseru, was first a graduate of law from the Dun Eidyn University before turning towards theology. He renounced his post in the Church to enter politics aspiring to recreate the Loago of Hamish Masamba, asking for home rule and the end to the appointed Lord Protector system, while still campaigning to keep Loago in a state union with Caledonia, describing the current relation between the two countries as a symbiosis, from which both stand to win.

In the last century, the Caledonian and "other white" population in Loago has risen to around 3 million, out of which a third are Gunnishmen, while the Loagin population in Caledonia numbers a million and a half, the first coming in the early 50s as construction workers, while in the current days, many come as university students. Muzorewa stated that he will reform Loago after the Caledonian model, creating a federation, while also fighting to turn the free trade and travel agreement into a state union between the two.

    OTHER NEWS
Far Northern Disruptions: The last week has been an agitated one for the Far Northern Republic. Three men and a woman were arrested for the killing of a Gearda patrol in Dun Ru. After the initial interrogation, the woman, named Morwenna verch Taran, confessed that she and five more men killed the patrol, attacking them with knives. She stated that she was peer-pressured into this act as the men are members of certain monarchist and radical christian circles opposed to the republic and to liberalism and prometheism. A few days ago, another Gearda patrol was attacked, again with knives, but the policemen kept their guard up and managed to kill the attackers. Today, after a raid organised in Calasraid, three men were arrested, after submachine guns, pistols, knives and a pile of the "Kingdom of the North" propaganda papers were found in a house. The State Security Administration has released a statement criticising the Caitish monasteries in the Far North for ideologically supporting terror groups over the people sanctioned government.
Ivernian Democratic Republic: Toisech Lucas Ros is continuing her tour of the Union, this time visiting Farrais, the capital city of the Ivernish Democratic Republic, the autonomous region to the west of Dumnonia, close to the Ivernian border. The Ivernian community in Caledonia has swollen after the war in Milesia, many refugees preferring to remain in Caledonia and since them actively engaging in developing the Caledonian state. "The Ivernians are a people we hold dear here, in Caledonia, as they are our Celtic brothers," stated Lucas Ros, opening his speech in Farrais.
Criticism of the Church's wealth: Archbishop Ronan MacIver of Dumnonia, having the primate of the Caledonian Church, has openly criticised the wealth of the Catholic Tiburan Church, calling it a shame in the eyes of Jesus Christ, but hoping that the new pope would manage to bring it back on the righteous path. Archbishop MacIver is the head of a reforming movement in the Church, calling for a return to the primitivism of the 1st century. He has previously declared that the church should concentrate on helping the poor and on worshipping God, not on acquiring wealth. Since he became the primate of the church in Caledonia, five years ago, the Church has organised 25 more soup kitchens for the poor, much of its wealth have been donated to funds supporting the poor and orphans, but also in organising Catholic worker's trade unions. After he became the primate, the Caledonian Church turned towards a radical monasticist tradition, seven new monasteries have been built, following a radical form of the rule of Francis de Assisi, brought back to life by the Archbishop of Dumnonia.
Cultural Revival: After the Snowdrop Revolution, Dun Eidyn is experiencing a cultural revival which can be easily compared to the one brought by the first Republic in 1957, before the coup organised by Roman Becker. Described as decadent and sinful, by Marxist-Leninovists and Catholics and as heaven by progressives and liberals, Dun Eidyn starts to turn heads across the globe in it's quest to become the cultural capital of the world and beating continental cities like Trier, Chagny, Hallein or Bad Hersfeld. The government gave green light to an urban planning project that aims to rejuvenate the waterfront of the city by bringing back to like with a modern twist the bauhaus and modernist architecture. This is the first major public works projects promised by the Prometheist government which will open nearly 3000 jobs for unspecialised labour. Even if this is a trend that started in 1985, attitudes towards prostitution and homosexuality are now are open as ever, more than 30 brothels have been registered in the city, with nearly 80 sexual health clinics. Other than that, the nightclub scene is vibrant and in a continuous expansion, with everything from modern electronic music to old school jazz places opening up. There is no night without a play in theaters or without a picture, painting or sculpture exhibition being organised in the Felix Street, which is becoming a centre of alternative and bohemian lifestyles.

We completely understand the feeling of Abbot Ronan regarding the wealth of the Tiburan Catholic Church. However, we prefer to follow a different approach than what Abbot Ronan is advocating. When the Church gives all its wealth away, the needs of the people will be satisfied once, but after then the Church cannot do anything any more. Then it is better that representants of the Church live a sober life to set an example while the interest on the Church's wealth is used for charity. That is a long-term vision, because the Church can provide charity for a much longer period of time.

Toiseach Lucas Ros condemns sabre rattling and calls for peace

After the last communique exchanges between the Grand Duchy of Bourgogne and The Kadikistani Union, Lucas Ros, the Toiseach of the Commonwealth of Caledonia has condemned the sabre rattling and name calling coming from both sides. The Toiseach continued by calling for world peace as the only way for humanity to continue to develop and emancipate itself, as a war would be a tragic and regressive fate, especially in our world's current level of weapons technology. "It might be a leap backwards from which we would find no way of return," stated the Right Honorable Lucas Ros, in his speech in front of the Aonach.

While foreign policy analysts have concentrated more on the speech delivered by the Toiseach, as some said that it might have been a bit too radical from what the world was accustomed for Caledonia, especially after the Chostangea Crisis of 1985, internal policy analysts have observed that it is for the first time a Toiseach calls an extraordinary meeting of the Aonach to hold a speech since the days of Lena Rees in the early 1950s.

The speech itself lasted around an hour, being short by pre-1985 standards, but it highlighted the need for both the western powers and Kadikistan to not reignite the CBS crisis, especially after it calmed down in the last weeks and also not to patronise Trivodnia, but to respect its sovereignty. The Toiseach reminded the world of the demobilisation of Trivodnia and Kadikistan, which was supervised by Caledonian observers and how both nations acted for the world's best interests. Lucas Ros called Bourgogne to act sensibly too, as Kadikistan has shown it the past that it is open to compromise and negotiations and diplomacy as it is open to defend its interests.

Institutionally, it is for the first time in nearly six decades that the Aonach held an emergency meeting of this kind. While speeches like this held in front of the legislative were common during the Red Years, in the 1920s and during the days of early Prometheism. After the Scanian Crisis and the coming to power of the extreme right-wing regime of the National Syndicalists, Toiseach continued this custom, but they always did it in ordinary meetings. It is for the first time the assembly is called for a speech since Lena Rees called it in 1957 to announce her anti-communist policies, dubbed "The Iron Wall", which brought the Caledonian intervention in Milesia and the training of anti-communist stay behind units in Cymru and Calidia. "It might also be a moment in which the Toiseach takes an active role in presenting himself as the alpha, in his relationship with the Aonach, not just rolling around it, like the post 1985 leaders have done. The same can be said with Caledonia. As the Toiseach raises his head in front of the assembly, most surely, Caledonia will start raising her head too and end this self imposed isolation that we have been in since the Scanian Crisis," stated Réamonn Ó Connagáin, political analyst.

    OTHER NEWS
Loago: Prime Minister Gordon Muzorewa has presented today the composition of the cabinet. Having been described as sensible, the new government of Loago has members from all ethnic groups living in the country, Wala, Fante, Caledonians and even a Gunnishman. While amalgamation has been seen as a good way to avoid ethnic tensions, Prime Minister Muzorewa reaffirmed his stance that Loago must be federalised and offered a first draft that created three autonomous regions, a southern one, for the Fante people, a central and north-eastern one for the Wala people and a coastal one, for the others.
The Royal Farm: While the royal family has left Caledonia and is currently starting a new life in Hallein, the capital of Carinthia-Harkany, the king's younger brother, Tadgh, has chosen to leave behind his family in Hallein and to follow his heart and move to Loago. Using his citizen name, Tadgh Blacach has used his inheritance from his father, King Mael Coluim IV, to buy a cattle station in north-eastern Loago, near Umniati, which he named Anesu Creek. While there have been rumours that prince Tadgh is in a secret relationship with a Wala woman, a subject which even the Eiffellandian tabloid Schau! wrote about two years ago, this acquisition might reignite the interest on the subject. While much of the royal family chose to leave Caledonia, the republican regime offered them the chance to remain or to return, provided that they renounce their claims and return as simple citizens.
Culture: The theatres of Feliks Street are abuzz these days as the comedy, "Kate" sparks some light into the glamorous world of the 1920s gangsters from Dun Eidyn and their matron, Ceitidh MacPherson.

Caledonia to support and fund the creation of a modern Loagin Security Force

The Aonach of the Commonwealth of Caledonia as voted and decided to support the State of Loago in it's quest to create a modern security force by sending trainers to Maseru and equipment to prepare the Loagin government to defend itself and its people.

The first created Limestone Protectorate was first defended by the King Artair III Regiment, which later became the Army of Himyar. When the Protectorate was granted Home Rule in 1940, under the name of Dominion of Loago, the Loagin Host was created and had members both of Caledonian and Wala ancestry. To quell infiltrators from the Fante rebels at that time, the Host didn't recruit from the southern lands. In 1957, when the Home Rule was rescinded and Loago was proclaimed an Empire, the Loagin Host was for a brief period named the Imperial Army, but it was soon disbanded and three main units were formed: The Loagin Light Infantry, the Himyari Rifles and the Himyari Scouts.

Now, the government of Loago led by Prime Minister Gordon Muzorewa has decided to unite the three units into the Loagin Security Force, an armed force under the direct orders of the defence ministry. The Prime Minister has ordered the creation of a modern army which would be ready for combined operations. Thus, what have been seen before as three independent armies of Loago are now to be put together in a joint force.

Toiseach Lucas Ros as responded positively to the new defence project of the State of Loago, an associated state of the Commonwealth of Caledonian, and has promised to help equip and train the newly formed Loagin Security Force. The State Security Council of Caledonia, has stated that there are helicopters, jet fighter planes, tanks and armoured personnel carriers which have been promised to Loago since 2010 but after a showdown between Toiseach Olibhia MacAnndra and the Lord Protector Reese Bivin, the transfers have been suspended. Lucas Ros has promised that the equipment will be transferred to Loago by summer.

As part of the Viridian Union Defence Projects, the Caledonian Republican Army is continuing the projects of the Royal Army, organising and training the armies of Loago and Boumerda. The two Himyari nations have been part of the Caledonian colonial empire and even if the relationship between the metropolis and the colony have been strained at some points, like the 1957 Loago crisis or the 1985 Chostangea crisis, the two have a close relationship with Caledonia and all three countries are banded together in the Viridian Union, suprastructure offering a common market, currency and cooperation, succeeding the old colonial empire. There are currently more than 3,000 Caledonian officers in Boumerda working as trainers for the National Army.

New planes for the Air Force:: The Ministry of Defence has made public the news of an order submitted to Caledonian-Gallegan Aviation, the joint weapons company created in 1985, of 50 CGA Morrigan fighter planes . The bid was won by the CGA, even though in the bidding process, Burgundian and Eiffellandian companies came too with offers, the Ministry preferred to support local industries in its bid to also support the creation of jobs.
Caledonians and Loagins celebrate Easter: The Caledonians and Loagins have celebrated the most important event in the Christian calendar, Easter. More than 20 million have been reported as participating in the Easter mass in both Caledonia and Loago. Toiseach Lucas Ros has chosen to celebrate Easter in Dun Glas, his hometown, while Prime Minister Gordon Muzorewa celebrated Easter in Maseru. The Pascal Celebrations are the most important elements of Christian life and, like Christmas are celebrated by Loagins and Caledonians as cultural events in the nation, not only as religious ceremonies.
Radek's money disappears: The followers of General Radek of Crotobaltislavonia have put together in the days before the coup a very important sum of money that might have been used to either bribe their way for the coup to succeed or to prepare for the post-coup CBS and lobby their way out of crisis. More than 25 billion Buinn have been deposited from 2005 to 20015 in the Royal Bank of Caledonia, now renamed into the Republican Bank of Caledonia. The assets, on the name of General Radek have been frozen after the coup, rumours stating that the government of Saig Madec wishing to surrender the cash to the Kadikistani government. Three days ago, the Bank has reported that the money disappeared, with the withdrawals being reported. The Ministry of Finance has started an investigation and has presented two main possible theories, first, that there are still supporters of General Radek whom now have stolen the money somehow and wish to continue the resistance and secondly that the money were stolen by supporters of Saig Madec, many knowing of the uncertain status of the cash.

A rushed Republic is a dead republic. The Dialogue must continue!
    Opinion article by Lili MacAra

In a normal and natural state of things, the discussion regarding the future, especially regarding the future form of government should take years. Arguments should be issued and countered again and again until one can know for sure that virtually any citizen of the country has heard about the issue and many have started to form an opinion. Only then can we turn towards a referendum and decide if we really want to turn to ash a millennial tradition like the Caledonian monarchy. Important characters such as Cormac mac Airt, from the Tiburan Times, or Eochaid mac Áedáin who fought the vikings, or Artúr II, whom turned the Caledonians towards Christianity, all have carried a deep respect for what Caledonia represented in its history, spiritual morality and temporal power.

Of course, there have always been negative names too, as Kings, even if they are anointed, they still are human. Here, the name of Calum Munn comes first, the King who felt that an absolute monarchy like the ones in Gallo-Germania would be a better variant than the semi-feudal/semi-parliamentarian one Caledonia had in the late 17th century. Of course, the clans roared, civil war followed and then clan Munn never saw the throne again. Even then, when the King was described as a diabolical tyrant, closer to Satan than a person, there have never been talks of disbanding the Hoarfrost Throne and adopting a republican system, even if those were the beginning of the heydays of the Engellexic Republic. The monarch as an institution was sacred. He was a personification of the country itself. He was the soul of what Caledonia represented. The monarch as a person had flaws and sometimes because of that, he had to be changed, but the institution was pure.

King Mael Coluim V was criticised and called a weak king. He is always compared to King Nechtain II, who was crowned in 1958. I would say that it is wrong to compare the two. Nechtain came to power after a republican episode which had a Marxist-Leninovist form and after a war between the Prometheists and Marxist-Leninovists. The world was sick of left-wingers tearing the nation apart and thus they turned to what else but the personification of the country, a king. Nechtain was respected and loved and has brought stability and security after the 50s decade up until the late 90s. It is nigh impossible to try to reach the same prestige, especially when you are but a young man in his early 20s who wasn't even on the direct line to become king. A car accident, a plane crash, cancer and a morganatic marriage has ended the live of Mael Coluim IV, Prince Tomas and Princess Moire, while Prince Tadgh has married a Wala woman and is how operating a cattle station in Loago. This pushed Mael Coluim V from the 4th spot in line, to the first. So, even if his
ascension was so unlikely, he behaved extremely well and extremely responsible, for if we are to clearly check what the constitution said about the role of the King, he neither provided too much, nor too little. So, can we really say that the monarch as a person was really that bad, that we had to ditch the monarch as an institution?

I will not attack the current republic (that much), yet, as I am still waiting to see the perigee of its moral standard. In our history, the republican episodes have been characterised by devourism. That is a group of cronies, be them sycophants or institutions are coming together to devour the state budget. In the Far Northern Republic in the late 19th century, the mining industry agreed to help the republicans fight the royalists if they received subsidies and weren't taxed. During the 50s, much of it was consumed by the army, during the Iron Wall Policies and during the Northern Rebellion. From the looks of it, the program to modernise the Republican Air Force of Caledonia and the Loagin Security Force started now by Toiseach Lucas Ros, starts to resemble the Iron Wall policies of Lena Rees from the 50s.

I still need to attack the republicans and the prometheists, for in my opinion, they reacted to a coup d'etat organised by the National Union with another coup. February was a complicated month and has showed us that the days of coups with tanks on the streets have passed. Things have become much more subtle there days. Hidden pressure and shady dealings to get the Country Party unite with the National Syndicalists, to put an extra-parliamentarian political movement in power and then the messianic appearance of Prometheism, which have to enlighten us by bringing the sacred cleansing flame and knowing exactly what to attack. Not the corruption which has made the National Union episode possible, or the distancing of politicians from the needs of the people, which has brought the March on Dun Eidyn. No, they attacked the monarchy.

In a normal country, one does not organise a referendum only after a two week campaign period. Especially not a referendum as important as the one talking about the future form of government. Such a rushed referendum tells me that the republicans were scared to use the normal channels, as in time the fervour would have passed and the majority would have voted in the end to keep the monarchy. Even so, they rushed because they wanted power and here we are a prometheist republic, with no friends, only with rivals. I would say that the state of siege starts to be felt. This rushing has also radicalised the people. Supporters of the monarchy are now looking with better eyes the National Union and their armed wing, the Catholic and Royal Army, even if they are terrorists ready to start a civil war just to take power.

Dialogue and the use of weapons are inversely proportional. The Prometheists wanted the dialogue to be short and fast and they ended up with rebels in the north, a Gunnland hating their anti-clericalism, an Engellex hating the Viridian Union and a Kadikistan hating their social capitalism. Never in its history Caledonia has been so isolated. The Prometheists of the 1950s understood the need to keep the Monarchy. Toiseach Lena Rees was a good friend with King Aedan in those days. The Prometheists of today are just the same like the people from the National Union. Power hungry armchair generals which are ready to kill the people and destroy this nation just to feed their cronies. In 1865, General Daniel Loganaich organises a coup and deposes king Arthur IV and leaves the throne vacant. He names himself Toiseach and regent until he died in 1873. In that year, the parliament called the clans which had the right to claim the Hoarfrost Throne, even the Gunnish ones like Gunn and MacLeish and elected Clan Blacach to be the new royal house, by appointing Mael Coluim II to be the King. The precedent exists. We just need to restart the dialogue and reach a common ground, until we start using weapons to shut mouths forever.

The reemergence of the Clan Question

The policies and anti-clan propaganda of the republican government seems to have worked exactly in reverse. The National Bureau of Statistics have published a study which shows that in the first four months of 2018, especially in May and February, more people have chosen to associate themselves with the clans or to reaffirm their clan membership than in the last 35 years. The 1956-57 republic tried to forcefully disestablish the clans and what they represented and to try to replace the sense of community offered by the sept or clan to that of the social class. While they managed to suppress the clans and their institutions and created a class of what they called "meritocrats", or "free men" compared to the old "nepotists" or "subjects", in reality they were closer to the Gunnish broken men. In the cities they were hailed as the great men of the future, while in the rural areas, they were despised and ostracised. Clans have received more power when the National Syndicalists took control and adopted antidisestablishmentarianism as one of their ideologies, trying to forcefully reunite the clanmen with the broken men. During those days the clans received the power to create clan based banks, hospitals, schools and trade unions. After the fall of the regime in 1985, interest in clan politics faded and by 2002 there were even 10,000 men who renounced their clan affiliations.

While it might have been a historical natural
occurring process, the newly formed republic of 2018 tried to rush it more, by starting to promote non-affiliated people, over clan members. The destabilisation brought by the March on Dun Eidyn and then by the Snowdrop Revolution, the economical stagnation and the crash of the buinn has made many people to seek shelter and to try to reunite with something they feel it would be powerful enough to defend them: the clan. Twenty five thousand people have reaffirmed their membership to their clan in April only. If the number continues to rise at the same rate, it would surpass the month of March, when thirty thousand people in total have chosen to join a clan.

This has made the government nervous as the clans have always been the most reactionary and conservative elements in society and now that the throne is vacant, they would try to be proactive in their attempts to seize it by calling for the return of the monarchy. Historically the Mormaers have been influential enough to create voting blocks by simply saying that they support a policy or a candidate and the septs following them, so it is clear that they Prometheists are anxious to see the power of the clans disappear as the Marxist-Leninovists wanted in 1957. Currently, the government didn't act regarding this subject more than simply stating that they would prefer the citizens of Caledonia to act following their consciousness, not the herd. The clans neither presented themselves as threatening as of yet to the republic as they have preferred to ignore the dissidents from the north. But what would the day of tomorrow bring? Political analyst Réamonn Ó Connagáin commented that the existence of the republic depends on the welfare and prosperity it provides. The moment a critical mass of people starts to say that in the past, things were better, in that moment the republic is dead.

    OTHER NEWS
Fighting in the pits: Fights have broken out in the two mining towns of Rheged and Monadh Rois from Co. Carvetia and Co. Deira. The members of two rival trade unions the Prometheist Miners' League and the Marxist Leninovist Worker's Union have started a brawl in one of the pits in the coal mine near Monadh Rois. While as of yet it isn't clear why the fighting started, the brawl extended to two more pits in the Monadh Rois area and to one in Rheged. The Gearda intervened and arrested 35 miners from both trade unions labelling them as agitators. They have been accused of assault and disturbance. The company owning the mines, Tuath Guail has sued the two trade unions as their disturbed the working process leading to a day long suspension of extraction. Prometheism and Marxism-Leninovism are two ideologies which have never lived together in peace and since the Snowdrop Revolution, the government created Prometheist Trade Unions even in regions like the Rois mountains, where Marxism-Leninovism has been popular since Kadikistan pumped a huge amount of wealth in 1956-57 to develop the region. The fighting might be linked to ideological motives.
Archbishop of Dun Glas counterattacks: The war between the two archbishoprics of Caledonia, Dun Eidyn and Dun Glas continues as Daniel Taran, the Archbishop of Dun Glas stated that the apparitions in Calasraid are real, something which he will bring to the ears of the Pope. The Right Reverend Daniel Taran also attacked the Archbishop of Dun Eidyn calling him a populist radical too much interested in material problems and too eager to attack the Church.

Office of the First Consulate, Gallic Commonwealth

On behalf of the Congusaxa representing the people of the Commonwealth, the First Consuls of the Gallegan Commonwealth will continue to publicly and actively reaffirm our brotherhood and commitment to assisting the Caledonian Republic and the Caledonian people as comrades dedicated to the principles of republicanism and popular social democracy against threats to Caledonia's freedom and self-determination. Though the road forward since the great emancipation of the Snowdrop Revolution may be occasionally fraught with hardship and may sometimes yield some setbacks, know that the peoples of Gallega and their national government fully will always be available, ready and willing to support our Caledonian cousins on their journey to a better future for all in liberty and fraternity. The Commonwealth is prepared to offer any support required of the government of Caledonia to ensure and, on behalf of the First Consulate of Gallega, wish to extend the thanks and appreciation of our nation for the role bestowed of observers and partners in Caledonia's transition to a full democratic republic, ensuring equal liberty and justice for all and defense against the forces of fascism, imperialism and totalitarianism.

Our economic ties with both Caledonia and the Republic of Loago are, and continue to be, strong allowing for trade, prosperity and economic equity between the industries of our nations, with the goal of strengthening the quality of life and labor of all citizens of our great Republics. To that end, we can assist in the development of Loago away from the ravages of an exploitative past through foreign aid and a human development fund of republican brotherhood, to both modernize Loagan infrastructure, but also develop industry and work quality standards in the country.

The approval of the Catubísaxa for new procurement of 50 upgraded Block 60 Morrígan light multirole fighters, designed in Gallega and to be produced in Caledonia, was a great step for both the defense of the Caledonian Republic and republicanism worldwide as, with authoritarian powers continuing to seek to exert their will upon free nations, common defense proves to be an important venture. To that end, the Commonwealth Air Force is willing to loan 20 existing airframes of the Republic S-V.82 Bodauda Mk.3 and Mk.4 advanced formidable heavy multirole fighter to compliment Caledonia's existing Morrígan fleet.

    Signed,
    Javeríu Cantos
