Rochefort Ministry Announced

King Louis-Philippe I received the Marquis de Rochefort this morning at Rothesmont Palace.
This morning, Jean-Marie, marquis de Rochefort traveled to Rothesmont Palace, where The King formally asked him to form a government as Prime Minister. The 37-year-old Conservative Leader will chair the Royal Commission of Governance, which has been immediately tasked to negotiate a two-week-long strike in the Mine Region that has slowly grown into a national strike and an important issue. If not resolved, the entire Curlan economy will come to a grinding halt.

"His Majesty has tasked me with the most important endeavor," Jean-Marie told reporters shortly after the royal audience. "I have assured King Louis-Philippe that Government will open negotiations with leading industry and union leaders."

The strike began earlier this month near Bazieu, when 37 injured miners were denied their benefits from TBC Industries, one of the nation's leading mineral corporations. The local union strike has since expanded across industries and cities.

The first prime minister to sit in the Chamber of Peers in over a century, Prime Minister de Rochefort has selected his finance minister, Christiane Dimont, to represent the Ministry as Leader of the Chamber of Deputies. Dimont will make history on Monday as the first woman ever to lead the Chamber. Additional ministers include:

Secretary of State for Kingdom Relations: Fabrice Gaumont
Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs; Vicomte Roger de Saint-Yves
Secretary of State for Justice: Baron Edmond de Cazenave
Secretary of State for Economic Affairs: Madeleine Courbet
Secretary of State for Defence: Adrien Barbeau
Lord Chancellor: Edmond, baron de Cazenave
Secretary of State for Culture, Education & the Arts: Anne-Marie, Comtesse de Besson
Secretary of State for Health: Dr. Pierre-Louis Mesny
Secretary of State for the Royal Household & Church: Baron Gabriel Pascal
Secretary of State for Social Security & Equality: Victoire Blanchet
Secretary of State for Infrastructure: Louis Chuquet
Secretary of State for Environment, Energy & Climate: Tristan Dufour
Secretary of State for Public Innovation: Nadine Gaume

King Summons Cabinet, Business, and Union Leaders to Palace

Louis-Philippe I summoned the Cabinet and representatives from both sides to come to a conclusion by midnight Wednesday.
The King employed old-school charm and glamour in a last-ditch effort to save Curlanie from the brink of a national strike.

The new Rochefort Ministry, along with leading trade union and business leaders, was summoned to the royal palace for dinner and private meetings with His Majesty. They assembled in the Throne Room, where His Majesty gave an inspiring speech before greeting each guest. The Palace confirmed the meal of red rice and beans served with haddock was cooked by Queen Marie-Louise herself, with the assistance of kitchen staff.

"His Majesty has worked tirelessly the past few days and weeks to bring representatives together to resolve this issue," a government spokesperson confirmed. "Though he has tried to remain neutral in the situation, The King felt it necessary to lend a hand on behalf of his government." Trade unions have given an ultimatum of midnight on Wednesday to negotiate fairer wages and living standards to union miners. If there is no agreement, they have guaranteed, unions from across the Curlan economy will go on strike.

Reports vary on the economic damage of the national strike. Some figures estimate 13.2 million Cour lost daily, with BNP Financial estimating up to 520 million when taking public sector workers into account.

Princess Royal visits Bazieu

A warm and royal reception for HRH Princess Royal and her husband, Prince Gabriel.

The heir-apparent to the throne visited Bazieu on Sunday to enthusiastic crowds.

Princess Josephine, along with her husband Prince Gabriel of Burgundy, arrived in the calmed city in the early hours. Greeted by Mayor Jean-Pierre Delaney, the princely couple arrived at City Hall for a debriefing. It was only five days earlier that The King announced successful negotiations between trade unionists and business leaders from Bazieu, which was near-reaching a national strike.

"[Princess Royal and Prince Gabriel] were passionately listening to city leaders and representatives from several labor groups," a spokesperson for Mssr. Delaney told the press. "Their Royal Highnesses ensured they will continue working with city leaders and members to resolve all issues."

The princess concluded her royal visit by enjoying a latte with her husband at Grand Prix Coffee & Computers. The cafe, located in the heart of Bazieu, received a 25,000 Cour grant from The Princess Royal Foundation, offering support to young entrepreneurs.

Deputies to Pass Sweeping Environmental Bill

You must be registered for see images

Despite the comfortable majority, Conservatives received additional support from the center-left and left parties.
A bill to increase the nation's production and consumption of renewable energy by 2030 has passed with an overwhelming majority in the lower house.

Only 14 of the 650 seats in the Chamber of Deputies, all from the Curlanie First Party, voted against it.

The Renewable Resources Act calls for government-led action to tackle climate change over the next decade. A total of 150 billion Cour will be allocated over ten years, used for incentives and subsidies, to support the initiative. Research and public innovation grants will also be offered to research ways to tackle climate change.

"The Rochefort Ministry has pledged a serious commitment to addressing and finding ways to the global phenomena," a government spokesperson told CBC News. "The Prime Minister sees this as a global epidemic as much as we would expect a response to a national health emergency."

The Bill now goes to the Chamber of Peers, where it may fail. Though the Prime Minister, who sits as a peer, leads the Conservatives in the upper house, there are those who would complain of a proposed increase in land, inheritance, and corporate taxes to cover some of the costs. However, the proposal demands the government to reallocate funds in several departments to tackle the issue.

Royal Comes Out!

Prince Alexander, the King's nephew, came out during CBC's Huffingpot Live! Show

“I don’t think it’s an issue,” Prince Alexander of Belmont told Ariane Huffingpot on her Saturday night show.

The prince, who will be 34 on Wednesday, becomes the first openly gay royal in Curlanie's history. He also mentioned he is recently single but is looking for someone "who doesn't care for the spotlight but is also not afraid of it."

Though currently not a senior royal, Prince Alexander is set to become a full-time working one upon the death of his father, Prince Ferdinand the Duke of Belmont. The younger brother of King Louis, Belmont caused something of a constitutional crisis when he married the divorcee and cabaret star Theodora van der Holyst.

Prince Alexander is currently renting a four-room suite at Montevideo Place, one of the country's most exclusive locales in downtown Saubagne to be closer to the hustle and bustle of the capital's fashion scene. A fashion photographer, he is planning to photograph his cousin the Princess Royal for an upcoming issue of Iconic Magazine.

On behalf of the Royal and Grand-Ducal Family of Eiffelland and Retalia, I commend His Grace Prince Alexander for contributing to the acceptance of homosexuality and for showing the courage to have his coming-out in public. I saw how my brother Prince Ludwig struggled with his homosexuality and with the idea to publicly come out as gay, so I know how much courage such a step takes. Unfortunately, my brother was outed by the yellow press in quite an embarrassing way. His Grace Prince Alexander's decision to come out has prevented such a dramatic outing.
