the Revolutionary Guard
Public Statement

In review of this 6-3 result we have decided upon the following:

Nieveland has opted to leave the Autonomous Republic without The Prize and will permit Auskighinee to retain the golden chalice. Until the Revolutionary Guard can begin winning as a team, rather than just individually in events, we will not allow accolades to guide a mentality that has corrupted Nievish athletics for this ugly century. Individual athletes who disagree with this decision will be given their passports so that they may make their case for staying in Auskighinee, while the Revolutionary Guard returns home to train as a collective for the next challenges ahead.

Challenger 2 :: the Cycling Tour Across Occidentia

Starting in the northernmost settled city of Katovik (Sylvania) cyclists will race to the southernmost settle point of the Occidental Continent in Rio Verde (Corrientes). Challengers can race in either groups or individual efforts. Due to the length of this event it is assumed some challengers will possess support teams.

Divisions of the Race are Group, Individual Supported, and Iron-1

Group Rules:

Group teams may consist of a max of 5 cyclists. They can be sponsored privately, publicly, or in hybrid funding. Support may follow in motor vehicles with food, supplies, and tenting but cannot physically carry the person or bicycle forward (only sideways or backwards). Winning is defined by total team finish or remaining total team finish after dropouts or casualties.

Individual Supported Rules:

Individuals supported by public, private, or hybrid sponsorship and funding can have teams that follow with tents, water, and food to support individual cyclists who can be carried sideways or backwards but not forward along the race. Winning is defined as first to reach the finish line.

Iron-1 Rules:

Individual Iron cyclists cannot possess an hourly or daily following staff. Lodging is disallowed and tents must be carried by the individual: exceptions can be made by event organizers in extreme weather, however all individuals will be tokened a time benefit or token to stay indoors that another individual or cluster experienced. Drop points for supplies are to be expected and these can be funded privately, publicly, or in hybrid. A single drop point is allowed anywhere within agreed upon distances (75 mi. at this stage).

OOC: Most of Challenger 2 the Continental Cycling race will be scored using an off-board randomizer because each team or individual will require a minimum of 25 rolls. Why 25? It's arbitrary, I read the fastest individual cycle across the continental US was 7.5 days and I've decided the quickest or record time across Occidentia should be 25 days. But I am using 7.5 points as the target threshold. (I doubt this makes sense)

Every day an athlete or team can travel 0.2 or .3 points forward. A perfect 0.3 every day without modifiers means they reach the target score of 7.5 in 25 rolls. This is probably impossible obviously, but that is where host or participating nation modifiers come in:

Each host nation can roll for a negative or positive modifier to be dished out to each section of the race, and since there is one stretch where in OOC map logic they are going through terra incognita I myself roll this section (it will be called stage or S2). The other hosts are (S1) The Fed, (S3) Gran Occidentia, (S4) San Jose, and (S5 Corrientes). By this logic I think 5 rolls plus a modifier should be released per post in a minimum of 5 posts.

There are some options to consider, and I will explain the default host territory rolls so that a competitor in each session is given a 0.3 bonus, or 0.3 penalty. In this case, the host needs to make a total of 6 rolls as follows: -roll 10 (for 10 groups), again -roll 10, -roll 10 (for Indy Supported), -roll 10, -roll 5 for Iron-1 (iron-1), again -roll 5.

A host territory can be more devious and instead only do 2 rolls that imply a knockout + a whole 1-point bonus (3 day boost), but they cannot choose who receives the knockout or bonus. So for example if in Terra Incognita I chose to use my knockout option I would -roll 25 twice. The number is based on when you submitted your people, so as it were from my quick two rolls on the discord my Wanderland+ team is knocked out, and Kate Oneida (Indy Supported, The Fed) receives a 1-point bonus and might set a record or get very far ahead.

I will end up messaging hosts individually to explain this if it does not make sense.

Sections if normal modifier rolls, if you choose a knockout roll I will just look at order of submission as said:

  1. Wanderland+ (AUS)
  2. RG1 (NIE)
  3. RG2 (NIE)
  4. Holy CrossContinental (NIE)

OOC: I see now there will be many ties. I will allow 0.3 bonuses for RP posts to create more separations beyond the 5 host modifiers. Otherwise in the final round there will be a sudden death where each subsection competitor gets one roll at a time based on their position at the start of round 5 until they cross or reach the 7.5 threshold...I will not give myself RP bonus modifiers, this is my thread :3
