Okay, so its been kind of a back and forth with me for well over a week as I know how these threads normally divulge into, so to start I say nobody take anything personal, stray away from personal attacks, and if your going to do either, just take a step back and walk away. I for the most parts have no problems with anyone in the community and would like it to stay that way. So with that being said, I have some questions to start with and then proceed from there.

What is the current status of CBS? I know it has now undergone a revolution which has been pretty much orchestrated by the kadikistani elite via its divisions that have been stationed there since the 7 days war. Is there fighting with the regular military/loyalists to the regime and its simply not being reported by the media that was seized?

What is the status of the existing ruling members and military staff of the CBS? Killed? Missing? Prisoners?

I understand the player behind the CBS has lost interest in it and is calling it quits on that nation (maybe all together?) but that has led me to the above questions first and foremost for answers from those involved before coming to any conclusions and carrying onwards with this discussion. I haven't had many interactions with Spelev and none with CBS but have quite enjoyed their writing and respect them so a nice discussion about it, and where others can potentially join in (but remain civil) I figured would be a nice thing for some clarifications/questions/discussion of any issues if there happens to be any.

First of, very valid questions and I appreciate you bringing up your concerns. To be fully transparent you are correct in your assumption that there was some sort of 'OOC necessity' behind this. Namely that CBS mentioned that he was bored of playing the nation and wanted to try something different. Having barely digested the loss of Serenierre and the literal books of RP lore that disappeared along with it, I obviously dreaded the loss of yet another major source of my external RP, which in turn influences my internal RP. Me and CBS discussed it and decided not to have this RP gone to waste. To do so was explainable within the long-term narrative of KU-CBS relations. I would much rather have seen the player continue with CBS and see where we ended up, but it is also understandable he wanted to try something different. This move was a bit aggressive and wouldn't have happened if not for CBS wanting something else, but let's hope it creates an entertaining RP dynamic.

Concerning the status I owe you all more posts. Real-life work loads have increased and union work spiked, so the limited time I've had I spend trying to keep up with current events. I will try and make some more CBS posts as soon as possible. Nonetheless some of your answers are already answered in the RP that was done. I will quote a piece from 'Collecting the Stray' for ease:

"In fact at this stage at least only about a dozen incidents were reported with only about forty casualties on the side of the old regime along with seven All-Union soldiers. The bulk of the casualties were Slavonian officers of various ranks trying to resist detainment. Alongside the government and the judicial system the Crotobaltislavonian military would have to endure heavy purging. Estimates were made that roughly 60% of the Officers Corps would need to be replaced together with at least 10% of the grunts. To fill the upcoming voids in the Officers Corps many military positions would be at least temporarily taken by experienced All-Union officers. Only a minority of the apprehended officers were on active duty at the moment the take-over began. Like thousands of civilians deemed undesirable in the new Crotobaltislavonia they were lifted from their beds."

It isn't a revolution as much as it is a coup d'etat, commie media will just call it a revolution. Until the time I can get some posts done it's safe to assume these purges are ongoing

Yeah I definitely understand the real life issues with activity from time to time. Like I myself am "present" but don't post as often/have posts I myself need to make as I am on my phone most of the time, but I despise posting from my phone (which am currently doing).

Thanks for the understanding and answers, I'll try and have some other comments/replies to what you had said when I get a chance.

Sorry for the days it took to get a reply up in here, definitely feeling the same pains as you in the work department so takes and gives me more constraints on here than I would like. And some stuff may have been posted that I simply may have read and forgot, or missed completely in the chances I have had to do some reading.

I guess one of my main question/concern is the status of the ODS citizens/ and embassy staff in the country? I thought I saw something about it, I however cannot remember where and things are kinda spread out. I'll keep looking in the meantime just in case so if I find it I may have better understanding.

The other would be, what resistance is there in the country. I do understand the start/ongoing purge, I would assume that once the purge began word would have spread and certain military units active/reserve and government officials would be putting up some sort of resistance which by now would have probably moved on from a more conventional stand-off to something guerilla oriented.

I do agree completely this event opens up some entertaining and fun Rp dynamic, and good healthy discussion such as this and clarification tis a good way and good example hopefully for the future.

ODS citizens and embassy staffs are untouched. There are is some surveillance and intelligence gathering going of those suspected to have a double agenda.

As far as the minorities are concerned they have never experienced the emancipation they have in the new regime. Safe to assume many Yiddish people being deported or worked to death were grateful to be liberated. As RP'd in Collecting the Stray the M-Ls heavily infiltrated the military and the Shlebuchya killed off the most important potential opposition leaders. In the latest post of my internal RP I worked out this:

"The situation has largely stabilized, Comrade Chairperson. Between those loyal to Hodiah and the supporters of Fydorov, the Optor League and the Farragoist League there were few willing to sacrifice their lives for the putschists. Especially with our elimination of the terrorist Radek and all other potential pro-Western strongmen the past months and years. The few pockets of resistance that we encountered were mainly led by desperate putschist commanders trying to avert punishment for their crimes against the people. Never able to rally more than a few dozen men, the highly demoralized and poorly equipped resistance they could muster was no match for our embedded forces and local assets. No doubt the mass detainment of reactionaries also prevented further issues on this field. Currently the most concerning development is the creation of independent terrorist cells by local malcontents or pro-Western'ers that somehow slipped through the cracks during the ongoing purges. However, with the extensive intelligence and military means at our disposal in the region there is no doubt we will be able to handle whatever these fringe groups can muster."

Feel free to do something with that.

Gonna try and have something up hopefully pretty interesting by mid week time allowing, no later than the weekend tho.

edit: I've been trying to find a map of CBS? havent had much luck, kinda just so i know some towns etc, I have figured out from what little was in his factbook some basics but haven't come up with much else in that department.

Just a quick little thing. At work and on the phone.

The idea behind the drop of the small 12 man squad/ and doing it via the guise (ruse, cover, etc) of the plane sent to evacuate diplomatic staff was for secrecy.

Hence why also the HALO jump, to maintain the element of secretly dropping in personnel to assist resistance elements.

There is no way high-level transport planes such as that are not heavily monitored or even escorted. Especially coming from a nation that has been so abundantly clear in its aggressive intentions. Besides that people on the ground will notice Johnstonian special forces and not mistake them for local farmers in their own community. The Rurikgrad does not operate on 1930s tech and not everyone is craving ODS liberation.

Okay finally off work so can get a decent reply up.

The idea of "operating on Negligence" is a toxic thing, its why I had left things open ended to a point for some story telling on your end, instead its a "Full Mobilization". I'm quite cooperative, and never look to Rp anothers forces/response without first discussing things with a person should that help the story come together better. Like radar can indeed monitor the aircraft all it wants the aircraft itself wasn't trying remain hidden, thats why it had the cover and was en-route to Banja Luka, evacuation of diplomatic staff.

Thinking negligence that if it was being followed/escorted they'd still jump (they'd know as they do have radar themselves and you'd have to be pretty close to see men jumping), maybe they would have, maybe they wouldn't have, could also be there is a cover to go with it even if they did jump?

Saying not everyone is craving ODS liberation, the same could be said about the fact its military and civilians rolled over and just gave up like it was nothing so they wouldn't be craving Ivars hand creeping into their lives more either. Theres a saying of its better to deal with the evil we know than the evil we don't. It wasn't a Rurikgrad Pact country either, it had strong relations with its democratic neighbor Etruria whom it had even held military exercises with and had invested into it economically. There should have honestly been a lot more resistance from CBS, right now the riots in the US are looking to have more fight in them then the conservative majority & military/police of CBS. Just cause chopped the heads off doesn't mean the rank and file fall in line, nor that you could have gotten to the majority of the command.....

I know i'm not the only one who has issue with the lack of resistance being portrayed in CBS (its why I had originally started this thread). I just am one thats vocal about it I guess and capable of keeping a civil discussion compared to most threads?

Edit: Just calling it as it is, the idea of lets rp the other as negligent cause blah blah blah, gamey crap something I don't do/deal with. I left openings to have some storyline, and it is treated as tho my military would blunder a covert op so easily to start a war (which frankly I know you don't have time for atm, I don't, neither does Eiffel. and I wouldn't look to manipulate a lack of time to do something of the sorts)

you guys should figure this out before it goes any further. i.e. any posts about full mobilization or reactions need to pause before a bunch of people are posting about something that might get changed or dropped.

i also agree that the rping as someone being negligent is not a great way to go into rp. there is a possibility of a fun story here let's not let that be ruined by gotcha tactics.

perhaps the drop took place before the escort merged with the transport. there has to be a hand off point where ods escorts were replaced with cbs/kadiki escorts. contrary to popular belief it can be hard to see things in planes as a pilot. perhaps visibility was obscured. if the pilot was a few miles away as they jumped there is a good chance it wasn't observed. there's a many reasons why someone might or might not see a jump occur. anything is possible.

as for resistance there should be some sort of resistance. Taking out high level government officials and replacing them with puppets will not solve the problem, there will be factions and outright resistance in some places.

Tensions are high, soldiers on the border, sanctions, it would be impossible for that to happen unnoticed, it's a misstep

It’s 5:30AM and I’m mad at half the people involved in this, so I’m going to make this short.

I had no idea that the Johnston Isle was going to essentially invade CBS at a time when the entire continent is on the brink of war. As a result, Eiffelland, Lars, and Auraria are now up against the entire Rurikgrad Pact and Furlanie. Alos and I do not speak and I’ve seen how Spelev speaks about this.

long story short, find somebody to RP Auraria. I’m not fighting a war RP with players that can’t civilly speak on any topic and have no respect for one another personally. You can talk all the shit you want on me, that’s fine. I have been raising the civility/OOC tensions flag this entire time.

I am swamped with work, Trying to maintain a social life, and keeping my mental health in check. If accomplishing those three things means giving up a project I’ve spent how many hours on and letting someone else RP it, then fine.

For what's worth our personal problems will not get in the way of my RP, that happened only once and I constantly feel like an idiot for that, I have my own life to move on and my own problems, there's no need to be buddies to make a fun story as long as we act like adults

To be honest, even if JI drops his GIs, it's not an invasion and not something that warrants a war in a world full even of tensions and sanctions and everything else.

Unless some players wish OOCly as players to punch it out ;)

The paratroopers, by crossing into CBS, are de facto invading a Rurikgrad Pact nation, therefor they are committing an act of war that could fully justify a war, in theory.

In practice, the USSR stood down when they wanted to move ICBMs in Cuba, because sometimes it's best to simply step back, specially if nobody really wants a war.

Ostmark is definately not happy about fighting a war with Eiffelland-Retalia over 12 paratroopers in the CBS. Eiffelland-Retalia is not happy to fight a war against Ostmark AND Kadikistan over 12 paratroopers in the CBS. The same is valid for Auraria, and Lars.

So why should we fight a war nobody really wants to fight? Diplomacy can fix it easily. If the paratroopers are captured, or if they are pulled back, or if the ODS member nations refuse to take part to an eventual armed conflict, that might look as a "diplomatic defeat", for the ODS, but a diplomatic defeat is better than a world war. That's why, in 1962, the USSR stood down.

There is no need to either leave the board, or delete the RP - it can be fixed, because it's rp, and nobody's life is actually at stake. We can agree to a roleplay that will lead to a certain outcome. My suggestion is that paratroopers get captured, ODS refrains from engaging in a war, and so will do the Rurikgrad Pact by de-mobilizing its forces. And then, Cold War RP. Mr Gorbachev, build up that wall.

I approve this message. With the SQT gone, Pelasgia can go back to the jolly business of funding/arming anti-Kadikistan coalitions. Seriously, our cold war period was our best timeline, these IC decades of calm have made RP soft and pointless (and sometimes objectively nonsensical).
