Ministry of War Announces More Deployments to Germania

In a not so shocking announcement as has been hinted at in government circles the Ministry of War has announced a shift in deployment of troops to strengthen its position in Germania by drawing on its forces currently in Natal and relocating their deployment to Etruria. This would bring the strength of confederate forces in Germania to over 6,000 men with the addition of the 3rd Marine Battalion and act as a further show of solidarity in the defense of the ODS borders in the following days since upheaval began across the border in Crotobaltislavonia. These orders will also see the navy escort detail attached with the 3rd Marine temporarily change station to Lars for the coming months where they will be joined by elements of the 2nd Fleet.

Crisis in the Markets

When the announcement came from ODS headquarters announcing to the world the economic sanctions against the Rurikgrad Pact the markets of allied nations quickly moved downwards in a sign of panic as a variety of reasons and speculation take hold. Some view it as the line in the sand that will be preventative of war, many others view it as the next large stone thrown into the sea towards war remembering the 7 Day War and seeing this as just another step in the process of escalation. While the impact on the markets especially of those with greater ties in the Rurikgrad Pact the effects rippled across the Sea into the Confederate markets which have closed the week down 5%.

The Home Office press statement released is printed below
The effects of these sanctions while seemingly having an immediate impact upon the markets and speculation will not have an implications in the first days, it will be in the weeks and months that follow that how this will effect local economies, national economies, and the global economy will begin to be seen. Our own economy had very little attachment to the Rurikgrad pact, and what little it had was limited in capacity to the special economic zones of Kadikistan, but those were withdrawn some time ago. It was the policies of all the previous governments and the current one as strictly against any form of support for the communist agenda that will have afforded us some levels of protections. Our allied states however did have interests and trade with these nations on certain levels, and how these ripples will find their way into our own economy have yet to be seen. We cannot say we will be immune to these sanctions, we will feel the ripple, how big and how long will yet to be determined.

Preparations and economic policies will cushion us, we have not been reliant on Kadikistan for our fuels. A combination of Westernesse nations and corporations and Azraqi have always been major sources of our natural energy needs. We have the WeFTA, we have the ODS. The ODS is the largest trading bloc globally, and the largest common market system seen around the globe. We will weather the storm together, we will come out of this as a stronger entity than before. We are working with colleagues and counterparts within the ODS offices to come up with a plan to curb the tide and support the economies of our allied nations that will be facing greater repercussions as the sanctions take effect and grow in scale in the coming days as the offices release statements of black listed foreign entities should they continue to do business with Ivar.

Markets Stabilize Slightly, Still Down

The Stock Markets for the week have seemingly reached an equilibrium with slight increases and decreases. The markets had looked for another closing bell of being down close to three or four percent until news from Himyar indicated that oil production in the Pelasgian State was still safe and secure as the country looks to descend ever closer into a civil war after a communist launched coup attempt. This information along with an agreement being reached to increase oil exports from Pelasgia to our allied states over the coming months led to a hope of avoiding a prolonged oil shortage, Azraqi oil conglomerates also announced to increase oil output to offset this crisis.

Plans are in the final phase to offer Eiffelland and Natalian businesses which closed in the Kadikistani Special Economic Zones a new home in the Confederacy. Exact details have not been released at this time however rumors persist that some of these incentives to help the businesses that had vacated operations from the economic zones will be given tax breaks for a number of years and government no interest loans. These incentives tied together with access to the Westernesse Free Trade Agree by relocating those operations could be viewed to not only offset the higher costs of labor in Johnston Island versus Kadikistan, but actually turn a greater profit by having a more competitive edge in the markets of Sylvania and Ambrosia than they currently have under existing trade laws between those states.

Many speculate that it is only a matter of time until something that looks similar to the WeFTA is formulated between the two large alliances to bring the two largest markets together.

Markets closed down half a percent on the increased positive outlook for the future.
