Ivar,
Sir;
The status quo hangs in the balance of global war. First I cannot sit idly by and watch the humanitarian crisis to our south. With up to ten million Crotobaltislavonians displaced, our capacity for handling refugees will quickly be overcome. Nor can I accept the Elbener disruption of the status quo by rashly supporting my royal cousin Victoria as Crotobaltislavonia descends into chaos. Third, my Marpesian subjects fear the hegemony of Bourgogne. 15AR intelligence reports indicate that the Banja Luka regime is abandoning the western front to Burgundian forces. Time grows short.
I have consulted with the Army Council and made the decision to send peacekeeping forces across the border, to secure towns and roads between our border and Lake Elbe, north of Banja Luka. This will be a humanitarian intervention and a gradual advance. In the event of a negotiated peace, it will mean that Gunnland and not only Bourgogne occupies territory in western Crotobaltislavonia. You have my assurances that the Gunnish Army will hold this territory in trust for the legitimate successors of President Farrago, and that my government looks forward to a return to the status quo ante bellum, minus the disruptive influence of the Amstov regime.
Cordially,
Jul. R.
