WIEN (Ostmark) -
Generalfeldmarschall Otto von Wilhelmstadt is reportedly under custody inside the Palace of the People's Republic after the successful blitz by loyalist forces to liberate Interim Volkskanzler Ludwig Bohmer. During an emergency plenary session, shortly after the capture of coupist leaders, the Volksrat approved by unanimity the Bohmer Motion "on the dissolution of the National-Syndicalist State and the readoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Ostmark". The approval of the motion by the People's Assembly marks the end of the National-Syndicalist State and the People's Republic of Ostmark, and the readoption of the 1959-2018 fundamental law that served as the Constitution of the Republic of Ostmark. Interim Volkskanzler Ludwig Bohmer has then tendered his resignation, after formally dissolving the People's Government and calling for new elections that will be held on January 5-6-7, 2021.

The motion approved by the Volksrat also includes the amnesty and release of all political prisoners, the dissolution of National-Syndicalist paramilitary organizations, youth league organizations and political institutions, including the destruction of the archives of the State Security Service, the abolition of the Ministry for State Security, the renaming of national institutions according to pre-2018 denominations, and a decree that bans the National-Syndicalist People's Party and prevents it from being reestablished under any name and any form.

Despite the initial, slow and somewhat moderate attempts at reforming National-Syndicalist institutions to pave the way for a planned return to democracy, the National-Democratic Party of Ostmark, formerly the National-Syndicalist People's Party led by Vice Chancellor Ludwig Bohmer who 'inherited' the position of Volkskanzler after the suicide of Horst and Andrea Grasser, failed to implement a comprehensive and efficient democratization and liberalization agenda, generating deep social and political divisions and tensions that escalated and culminated with the failed state coup led by hardline National-Syndicalist Volkswehr high ranking officer, Generalfeldmarschall Otto von Wilhelmstadt, with a group of disheartened soldiers and hardline followers of the defunct Wise Leader.

Almost one hundred thousand citizens, young, adult and old, gathered in Volksrepublikplatz and nearby streets, despite the harsh temperature, to celebrate the end of the dictatorship and the return of democracy after two years. Infront of the enthusiastic and joyful crowd, a platoon of the Honor Guard of the People's Defense Force removed the flag of the People's Republic of Ostmark, the Hammer and Sword on the black-white-red tricolour flag, from the top of the Palace of the People's Republic, and replaced it with the black-gold-red tricolour of the 1959-2018 Republic of Ostmark, which was hoisted while accompanied by the Ostmarklied, played by the Music Corps of the Volkspolizei.

With the hoisting of the new national flag and the readoption of the 1959 Constitution, the People's Republic of Ostmark, the National-Syndicalist State and its institutions, have been permanently dissolved.

TRANSCRIPT OF THE SPEECH DELIVERED BY INTERIM VOLKSKANZLER LUDWIG BOHMER TO THE PLENARY SESSION OF THE VOLKSRAT OF THE PEOPLE'S REPUBLIC OF OSTMARK

Honourable Deputies of the People's Assembly,

With the arrest of Generalfeldmarschall Otto von Wilhelmstadt and the defeat of the coupists, it is now time to address this legislative body, aswell as the people of Ostmark, on the dramatic circumstances that led to this turn of events.

We must accept, in order to preserve the integrity of this nation, that despite the democratization process initiated with the reform of the National-Syndicalist People's Party into the National-Democratic Party of Ostmark, a further sprint to fully complete the process of return to democracy and a multiparty system, is now an urgent task, more than ever before.

It is a task of uttermost importance and for this reason, by the powers bestowed upon me by the Decree for National Salvation approved by this assembly on the 12th of October, which grants to the Volkskanzler legislative and executive powers during times of crisis and emergency such as this one, i present an emergency motion to dissolve the People's Republic of Ostmark and the National-Syndicalist State.

The motion i am presenting also includes: the abolition of the Constitution of the People's Republic of Ostmark approved on the 15th of October, 2018, the dissolution of the National-Democratic Party of Ostmark, and a ban on the reestablishment of the National-Syndicalist People's Party under any name, and any form. The re-adoption of the 1959 Constitution. The proclamation and re-establishment of the Republic of Ostmark. The immediate release of all political prisoners, the emanation of a decree to grant a total, unconditional amnesty to all citizens who have been arrested and sentenced guilty for political crimes. The immediate destruction of all the archives of the Ministry for State Security and all the informations illegally obtained by the State Security Service.

All the institutions of the People's Republic of Ostmark, upon approval of this motion by the People's Assembly, shall return to their pre-revolution denominations and tasks, according to the 1959 Constitution of the Republic of Ostmark and in all cases in compliance with the commonly internationally recognized principles of freedom of opinion, freedom of speech, freedom of all forms of expression, freedom of movement and of religion.

Kameraden,

The time has come for this nation to move forward, and leave the National-Syndicalist experiment behind. History will judge our actions, but we are now required to submit ourselves to the will and the judgement of the People who have gathered infront of this building to ask us to take quick, decisive actions to preserve the unity and integrity of this nation. We cannot wait further and must accept this turn of event as a chance to show Europe that Ostmark is not lost.

It is for this reason that i officially tender my resignations from my position as Interim Volkskanzler of the People's Republic of Ostmark, which will come into effect on January 7th, in concomitance with free and fair general elections that will be held, with Universal Suffrage, on the 5th of January, as soon as a parliamentary majority will emerge from the ballots. During the transition that will end with the election day, no citizen shall be arrested or harrased by any public authority for political reasons.

We will rise, once again, from the ruins. Our rich and glorious history tells about a very small nation that in a span of over six centuries has endured the most difficult challenges, and always managed to survive, to improve itself, and most importantly.. to learn from its mistakes. May Ostmark always be in peace. May the Ostmarkian people always be free, live in harmony and prosperity.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken notice of the democratic spirit on display in Ostmark. The German speaking people of Bajorország embrace their brothers and their desire for freedom!

As such my Ministry wishes to express its intention to follow the elections in Ostmark closely and announce its desire to observe the events in Ostmark with keen interest. Should there be stability, free markets, free elections, and most importantly a desire in Ostmark to participate, we would like to see Ostmark join the Central and Southern Economic Advancement Co-operation. While CSEAC is still early on, having Ostmark commit to a desire to join this organization can further our ability to find an everlasting peace in Germania.

Sincerely,

The Federation wishes to congratulate the people of Ostmark for throwing off the yoke of authoritarianism and bringing long needed democratic traditions. As your previous leaders have said on many occasions; The Days of Sorrow are now over, but in the coming days there will be a difficult but rewarding path toward freedom. Now that the Grasser regime is gone and the National Syndicalists in the process of reforming, the Federation wishes to reopen relations with the people of Ostmark and assist them in creating the institutions needed for democracy to flourish. We hope that Ostmark will accept our assistance, the Federation is very interested in seeing Ostmark fully return to the family of free nations and we shall be monitoring Ostmark very closely over the next few months.

EDITORIAL
By Heinrich Obenaus

WIEN (Ostmark) -
When i first joined the National-Syndikalistische Volkspartei in 2014 as a militant and supporter, i was one of the tens of thousands of homeless and unemployed citizens who had suffered under the inequalities that the pre-revolution goverment, presided at the time by Chancellor Kohler, had failed to address. I've graduated from college in 1998, and since then i've been working for local and national newspapers, until i lost my job in late 2013 in concomitance with the debt crisis, and the economic disaster that followed shortly afterward.

It is now too late to look for the guilty and the innocent, but it is also time for me to take a few steps back and think about my journey, from being a homeless, unemployed journalist, to becoming one of the most active columnist of Die Volksrepublik, the official newspaper of the National-Syndicalist People's Party.

It was thanks to this job that i met, in several occassions, Horst Paul Grasser and his sister, Andrea Grasser. During our formal and informal talks i've always had the impression that the Grasser siblings always had the right solutions at hand. Even in foreign policy, the former Volkskanzler was highly regarded for his pacifist and inner-oriented policies that distinguished him from his colleagues from the rest of the, now defunct, socialist bloc.

Even now, when i think of those interviews, i can't forget the apparent humility and humanity that Horst Grasser transmitted and expressed when talking with his interlocutors. The reality, however, was much different from what it looked like from the outside.

I'm not trying to deny my adherence to National-Syndicalism, or the support for Horst Grasser i've genuinely expressed on this website - under its various titles - for almost six years. When i was first hired by this newspaper, it was just a small magazine read and published exclusively for the workers who were employed at Ostmarkische Motoren Werke, where Horst Grasser used to work as a production line welder. At the time, Grasser and his ideology seemed the most appealing and people-oriented ideology available in the Ostmarkian political world. The reason we supported him, and empowered him, is because our desperation was stronger than our desire of freedom.

Whatever the past of our country is, and whatever the future will be, i love Ostmark and i will always do. I've loved it even during its darkest days, before and during the regime, and i've never lost hope that whatever the future would have looked like, i had hope and faith that our people would have figured it out, eventually. In the end, we all supported the regime in one way or another. Nobody renounced to an apartment in one of the blocs built by the People's Labor Service in the past two years. Nobody refused a job, a welfare check, subsides and free healthcare or education.

We all have willingly accepted all these entitlements without questioning our unconditional support for a regime that had literally built a wall of fences, barbed wire, guard towers manned by machinegunners all around our nation. A regime that spied on our lives, constantly, and had implemented all possible surveillance measures against its own citizens, to make sure that everybody was apparently satisfied, happy, and never influenced by the few brave ones who stood up against Horst Grasser and his State Security Service.

Did we really believe the regime would have lasted forever? Well, yes. We did. But soon after the death of Horst Grasser, we also realized that what we lived in was a perfectly orchestrated show. A show of propaganda, a show of repression, oppression, of government-mandated violence, torture, illegal arrests and deportation to the labor camps, where thousands of dissidents have spent almost two years.

What are the choices presented before us now? We can either remember the past, as a lesson to be taught to the future generations of Ostmarkians, who must be educated and informed about the dangers of extremist populism and totalitarism, and that rights, entitlements and social equality, must not be achieved by renouncing to fundamental freedoms, such as the freedom to express an opinion without fearing a visit from the Volkspolizei, or worse, from the State Security Service. Or we can teach our children, and our children's children, of the highest price paid by our people, in times when despair prevailed over hope, when anger and hatred prevailed over moderation and tolerance.

We can, and must teach our children, and our children's children, that when all seemed lost and hopeless, this people, the people of Ostmark, stood up during their darkest days and recollected themselves, reunited one with another, as one people, as one community, to rebuild Ostmark, their fatherland, in peace, democracy and freedom.

As events unfolded quickly in the capital of Wien our government focused primarily on the gathering of information to better ascertain a position upon the collapsing of the government in our neighbor and the safety of Tarusans and Tarusan interests in Ostmark. While the coup led by the claimed hardline general and his followers of grasserism has been squashed, we find ourselves struggling to come to recognizing the new but old Republic of Ostmark, as this appears to be simply nothing more than another coup led by a radical hardline group looking to simply use their current position to swing the nation to their own views under their narrative.

We have the Interim Government under Bohmer claiming citizens will not be harassed or imprisoned leading up to these rapid elections, as they will not be politically oppressed, and political prisoners will be freed. Yet what of the General and his followers, the so called hardliners? They themselves are now nothing more than political prisoners for taking and moving to protect a constitution they no doubt swore to protect. The National-Syndicalist State was dissolved in a rapidly organized emergency session while military forces loyal to the Bohmer regime were still in the capital after having retaken it. This decision could not be any clearer, it was made under duress for any opposition that may have attended this emergency session, and shoved thru by Bohmer radicals.

May we also at this point out that this was then followed by the ordered destruction of archives by a national level entity security service. What would be the purpose of destroying these archives versus allowing the people access to these archives eventually in the future? We can tell you, as it is obvious to any, the ordered destruction of these archives is to hide any incriminating evidence of crimes committed under Horst Grasser by Bohmer when he was vice chancellor and any of those directly associated with his circle, as why else was he the vice chancellor of Ostmark?

Many western governments are quick to praise the "moves to Democracy", this is not a democracy, this is an illusion of one. It is simply the changing of the guard from Grasserism to the Bohmerists.

REPUBLIK OSTMARK
FOREIGN OFFICE
REPUBLIC OF OSTMARK

We are surprised by the stance of the Tarusan government, given the unconditional support received by the international community in the past hours, following the unprecedented events in Ostmark, and the so-long desired return to democracy after two years of totalitarism and repression.

The collapse of the Kadikistani Union, along with all the former socialist allies of the People's Republic of Ostmark, had already generated profound fractures and divisions in the nomenklatura of the National-Syndikalistische Volkspartei and the People's Government of the Volksrepublik Ostmark, when Horst and Andrea Grasser occupied respectively the positions of Volkskanzler and Vizekanzler.

Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer, who served as Vizekanzler during the Grassers' regime, had recognized the dangers of international isolation and autarchy long before the collapse of the Rurikrad Pact and the dissolution of the socialist bloc, on the eve of national protests and demands to return to multiparty democracy. The People's Republic of Ostmark had no other choice but to aknowledge the changes that modern times required. The National-Syndicalist system was a stagnating relic that needed to go, and allow Ostmark to progress into the future.

The vacuum of power generated after the death of Horst Grasser and Andrea Grasser, allowed Luwdig Bohmer to legitimately surge to the Office of the People's Chancellorship, being the highest political and institutional authority in the nation folowing the death of former Volkskanzler Horst Grasser. Despite the upcoming changes, government institutions pertaining to welfare, education, healthcare, law enforcement and defense had to continue operating for the sake of the people and the nation.

It was never Bohmer's intention to push the democratization agenda so quickly and this soon, but the attempts by reactionary and obscurantist forces, which were, and are still strong in Ostmarkian society, to revert the imminent and necessary changes had forced him to react to defend the very integrity of the nation, and to prepare the ground for the transition from dictatorship to democracy, that is far from completed, and surely isn't an easy task.

The actions of Generalfeldmarschall Von Wilhelmstadt threatened and underminded the legitimacy of the Interim People's Government presided by People's Chancellor Ludwig Bohmer, and the quick and swift intervention of forces loyal to the legitimate government of the People's Republic of Ostmark have prevented this nation from destroying and vanishing all the efforts of moderate and democratic forces to finally restore basic individual rights, in a nation that had effectively suppressed freedom, and actively oppressed citizens in one of the most, if not the most totalitarian repressive regime Europe has ever seen.

The Interim Government of the Republic of Ostmark presided by demissionary Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bhomer is only an initial step to pave the way for free and fair election, and will be dissolved upon the formation of a parliamentary majority with enough support and seats to be capable of inheriting the governance of the nation, and begin the real transition from the National-Syndicalist State to a society and State firmly anchored to the principles of democracy, freedom of expression and justice.

Signed,
Interim Minister Maria Holler

INTERVIEW WITH INTERIM CHANCELLOR LUDWIG BOHMER
On the transition to the democracy and the state of the economy.

You must be registered for see images

By Heinrich Obenaus

Heinrich Obenaus:
Good evening Chancellor Bohmer, it is a pleasure to have you here.

Ludwig Bohmer: Good morning Herr Obenaus, it's been a while since our last meeting.

Heinrich Obenaus: Yes.. it feels like a lifetime, given the recent developments. I do not hide that finding myself in this position, and to see you in your position, feels quite strange. So let me ask you the first question: is it really over? Is this a true transition from dictatorship to democracy or, as some foreign governments have stated, is it merely a shift of power from the Grasser siblings to the "Bohmerists"?

Ludwig Bohmer: You are probably referring to the statements of the Tarusan government concerning the recent events in Wien and the failed State Coup led by Generalfeldmarschall Otto von Wilhelmstadt. The answer is: yes, this is a real transition and no, i'm not merely trying to hold on power. As i've publicly stated, i will leave this office as soon as a democratically elected government will emergence from the January 2020 elections. There is no such thing as "Bohmerists". I've never been a charismatic leader. What i know is that when the Volkswehr put Von Wilhelmstad in custody, over one hundred thousand citizens had gathered infront of this building, and they were asking for change. The alternative to accept changes, was to disperse protesters with force and cause more violence, and probably more deaths. In any case, we had no other choice. Changes must in all cases fit the challenges presented by their time, and this is the time for change. I have no doubt about that.

Heinrich Obenaus: All the nation, and the international community, watched you as you delivered the speech in which you announced the dissolution of the National-Syndicalist State. How did it feel? Emotionally speaking.

Ludwig Bohmer: I was shaking. I was shaking because i knew that speech was a one way ticket. One cannot simply dissolve a regime and reform it overnight. But i also knew that dissolving the National-Syndicalist State was the right thing to do, because the people were asking for it. We are.. were.. the last socialist nation of Europe. Anyone who thinks the regime had any chance to survive future challenges is in complete denial, a fool.

Heinrich Obenaus: Are you still a National-Syndicalist?

Ludwig Bohmer: Yes, and i will always be loyal to my ideals.

Heinrich Obenaus: Isn't that a contradiction? A National-Syndicalist who dissolves the National-Syndicalist State and paves the way for the return of liberal and social democratic parties, after all the years of propaganda that depicted those movements as enemies of the nation and the working class?

Ludwig Bohmer: Well, you see.. i believe that National-Syndicalism, in 2014 when me and Horst founded the National-Syndicalist People's Party, and again in 2018 when we won the elections with an overwhelming majority, just like the decision to restore multiparty democracy in Ostmark, was the right choice at the right time. We all believed in National-Syndicalism, it seemed like a dream come true for the most of us. Others were merely trying to achieve power and weaIth, but that's not what National-Syndicalism was about. Neither left, nor right. Even tho we ended up siding with the Rurikgrad Pact. It wasn't our intention, at least not initially. To sum it up: it is fairly easy, with foreign eyes and mindsets, to quickly judge on the people for expressing their support for an ideology that led to the establishment of a regime. But only we Ostmarkians know what we endured during the Days of Sorrow. I'm pretty sure you remember them too.

Heinrich Obenaus: Yes, i do. That's true, you made a point, at least in my opinion.

Ludwig Bohmer: And just like in 2018, today we must also face reality. The regime survived only thanks to the support of its allies. The Kadikistani Union, the Serazinist Republic of Serenierre, the Polesian People's Republic, and many others. Without their financial and military assistance, the regime would have never survived for two years. Our economy was never able to sustain alone such a large military force, and such an efficient and omnipresent surveillance, or even a strong propaganda department. This also brings up another point: the economy at the moment is still centrally planned, one of the most important reforms will be its liberalization, and privatization of some sectors of the economy.

Heinrich Obenaus: I was about to ask you how will the government, the next government, deal with the necessary reforms to transform our economic system? Right now, all jobs are basically government jobs, with a very small private sector that still relies on subsides.

Ludwig Bohmer: What i hope the next government will do, is find a compromise between the inherently marxist-leninovist and socialist pillars of our economic system, with the opportunities of a free market capitalist system. We must protect workers' rights but also enable them to conduct private economic activities, and give them equal opportunities to thrive and create added value to our economy.

Heinrich Obenaus: Speaking of the economy, what is the state of our public finances Herr Bohmer?

Ludwig Bohmer: Our public debt is currently 357% of our Gross Domestic Product, while the deficit is relatively low, at 4,7%. Most of that comes from military expenditure and the budget allocated for the State Security Service, the Ministry for Propaganda and People's Enlightenment, and other public institutions created by the regime, such as the People's Labor Service that i presided when i served as Vice Chancellor. That's why i'm hoping the next government will also take into consideration the downsides of globalization and free market capitalism, in relation to the conditions of the workers and their families, to protect jobs and to create new opportunities, and find a compromise.

Heinrich Obenaus: Thank you for your time Chancellor Bohmer.

Ludwig Bohmer: It's been a pleasure, have a nice day.

ELECTORAL COMMITTEE APPROVES PARTIES AND CANDIDATES' LIST
Four political parties have presented their candidates lists and will run for the January 5-6-7th 2021 General Elections.

WIEN (Ostmark) - The Special Electoral Committee of the Ministry of Interior (formerly the Ministry for State Security) has approved earlier this morning the official list of political parties and candidates that will run for the Office of the Chancellorship (and a parliamentary majority) in the upcoming January 5th-6th-7th 2021 General Elections. In less than two weeks, all Citizens over the age of 18 will cast their vote for one of the four parties and hundreds of candidate MPs who registered their symbols and political agenda. Below, the official list of political parties and candidates for the Office of the Chancellorship.

WALTER EIDMAN

Sozialdemokratische Partei Ostmarks (SDPO)
Social Democratic Party of Ostmark (SDPO)

You must be registered for see images

Walter Eidman was an MP during the Kohler Government from 2014 to 2018. Having escaped Ostmark a few days before the National-Syndicalist victory in the October 8th Elections, Eidman managed to avoid the fate of his party colleague and Chancellor Franz Kohler, who was executed by a firing squad of the Volkswehr a few months later, in Volksrepublikplatz. Eidman stresses the importance to steer Ostmark away from the populist and extremist views of the National-Syndicalist People's Party, promoting a policy of "national reconciliation" and cooperation with all political forces "in the sake of national unity and progress". Eidman is a strong advocate of the Social Democracy, a supporter of an equal welfare system, of public health, public education, and vocational training for women and the disabled. He considers inequalities "an obstacle to full freedom and the realization of democracy in Ostmark". The Social Democratic Party of Ostmark has been the largest political party of the country between 1959 and 2018, but it has never seized a parliamentary majority large enough to form a government by itself. Instead, the SDPO has been in power for almost 60 years by forming a coalition with either the Zentrumspartei or the Christlich Demokratische Union Ostmarks.

LINDA GRASSER

Zentrumspartei (ZP)
Centre Party (ZP)

You must be registered for see images

The Zentrumspartei is the oldest political party of Ostmark. Founded in 1848, it has since then took part to all local and national elections. The party had spearheaded the anti-monarchist movement of the mid 1950's and promoted the 1959 Referemdum which ended with the abolition of the Monarchy and the proclamation of the Republic of Ostmark. The Centre Party has often participated to the elections in coalition with the SDPO, but it has never successfully placed a candidate in the Office of the Chancellorship. In an unprecedented move, the Zentrumspartei's candidate is Linda Grasser, youngest sister to former Volkskanzler Horst Paul Grasser and former Vizekanzler Andrea Grasser. For almost two years she lived in exile in the west under the protection of human rights movement. Some speculated foreign intelligence agencies might have facilitated her escape in late October 2018. Later that year, she released an interview on European Press Association claiming that his brother Horst Grasser was suffering from a severe case of Post Trauma Stress Disorder, Major Depression and Bipolarism, caused by the death of his wife Laura Grasser due to health complication releated to a severe form of diabetese. Linda Grasser has only recently returned to Ostmark after the fall of the regime and vowed to support the transition to democracy by proposing an inherently anti National-Syndicalist policy, with balanced social and economic policies.

The Christian Democratic Union of Ostmark is the second oldest political party of Ostmark, founded in 1889 by former members of the Social Democratic Party of Ostmark whom they considered to be "too close to marxist-leninovist ideals". The CDU has since then ran against the SPDO in all local and national elections, with the exception of the 2014 elections which ended with the victory of "the great coalition" between the SDPO and the ZP. After the National-Syndicalist victory in the October 2018 elections, the CDUO was officially dissolved, but allowed its members to operate in secrecy or in Eiffelland, where activists continued to denounce the totalitarian and oppressive policies of the regime of the Grasser siblings. After the fall of the regime the CDUO reemerged on the national political scene with a balanced economic and social agenda founded on christian values and direct democracy. The CDUO candidate is journalist and European Press Association columnist Martha Feld. Frau Feld left Ostmark in 2018 and has wrote a number of articles unveiling the true reality of Ostmark under the iron first rule of Horst Grasser.

The NVPO is a post National-Syndicalist political party formed by OMW foreman Karl Dietrich. In 2013 Dietrich founded, along with his OMW colleague Horst Grasser and disheartened former social democrat Ludwig Bohmer, the Arbeiterpartei Ostmarks (APO, Workers' Party of Ostmark) on the eve of the 2014 debt crisis and the economic meltdown of the national economy and finances known as "The Days of Sorrow" in the collective memory of Ostmark. Despite its membership in the APO, Dietrich eventually joined the newly-formed National-Syndicalist People's Party but refused to accept any government job offered by his friend Horst Grasser, and instead asked to continue to perform his duties at Ostmarkische Motoren Werke, where as of today he still works as a foreman. With his inherently anti-capitalist views, Dietrich's political platform further distanced itself from National-Syndicalism (which he considered to be too similar with Marxism-Leninovism) in mid 2018 and proposed a return to the original Third-Positionist stance. His motto is "We must take from the right nationalism without capitalism, and from the left socialism without internationalism". It is unclear if the NVPO is truly a post National-Syndicalist party or not, but Dietrich has had no role and no government positions in the regime of the Grasser siblings.

Our neighbourcountry Ostmark went through tumultuous times. It will be up to history to judge the National-Syndicalist government of Volkskanzler Grasser. We welcome the developments in Ostmark and the path to democracy Interimsvolkskanzler Bohmer has chosen. We recognise his government as the legitimate successor to the National-Syndicalist government of Ostmark. We will also recognise the outcome of the elections on 5, 6 and 7 January.
I don't know if it is the intention to have the elections monitored by foreign observers; if so, Eiffelland would like to send in observers.
Eiffellandian companies are also interesting in investing in Ostmark, should the switch to democracy succeed. We would also welcome Ostmark's membership of the CSEAC.

Women and men of Ostmark,

When i took charge of this Office and formed the Interim Government, i was warned by my aides and collaborators of the immense decisional power falling upon me, aswell as the weight of the inheritance left by the previous government. When the demonstrations and protests against the National-Syndicalist regime reached the square infront of this building i've also realized that with such great power also came great responsibilities towards you, the people, and the entire nation.

If i could go back to that day, i would take the same steps over and over. The people demanded a change, and since the people were, are and will always be the supreme repository of power of the Nation, i've aknowledged and accepted the demands for change and started the process of democratization and therefor the dismantling of the existing institutions, which were becoming stagnant and obstacles to the full realization of the aspirations of the Ostmarkian people, and failing to adapt to the changes of the modern era, in which National-Syndicalism had lost its logical and rational place.

Our way to the transition is not over, and will be over only after a parliamentary majority will emerge from the ballots, in which all voters are asked to take part, thus displaying an act of loyalty and duty towards the fatherland and the entire national community. After the formation of a new government, i will leave this office, and retire from the political scene.

In the past weeks we have received positive feedback from the international community, specially from nations that had previously expressed and shown hostility against the People's Republic of Ostmark, but recognized and aknowledge the desire for change, which is inherently part of the legitimate right to self-determination of the Ostmarkian people. I therefor express immense gratitude, on behalf of the Interim Government and the nation, to the governments of the Federation of Westernesse, of the Federal State of Serbovia, of Pannonia and, of course, from our southern neighbors in Eiffelland which, as we all expected, has not turned its back on us.

Again, we thank the international community for the political and moral support, and i sincerely hope the next government will pursue cooperation and friendship with all the nations that seek to establish friendly diplomatic relations with the Republic.

However, i can only express surprise for the recent statements by the government of the Tarusan Tsardom, pertaining to the events that have occured in Wien in the past two weeks. It is my duty to inform you that the relations between the Republic of Ostmark and the Tarusan Empire have reached their lowest point, and that since last night, precisely at midnight, Tarusan authorities have halted the flow of natural gas, demanding immediate repayment and the release of Generalfeldmarschall Otto von Wilhelmstadt, aswell as the other members of the failed state coup that almost threw our nation back to an era of obscurantism and totalitarism.

Such demands are outrageous. Ostmark is not the playground of the Tsar, or any other foreign government, and we firmly reject such demands and categorically refuse to comply, to defend the honor and integrity of the Republic of Ostmark.

Compatriots,

We know Ostmark is a very small nation, but we know that within the borders of this small nation lives a people that has survived countless challenges and crises, and always found ways to improve itself, to correct itself, and to stand up, again and again, after every fall. Pride and determination, is who we are. This is what our people believed in, for over six centuries. This is what we believe in, today. Ostmark is one, indivisible and independent. Our integrity, our independence, our sovereignty, are not for sale. And we will defend our nation's independence and sovereignty and integrity, as far as humanely possible.

We have not abandoned the old ways to become the province of an Empire. Ostmark has always pursued peace and cooperation, and will continue to do so in the future. But we will not amend our values, nor we are willing to give up the integrity of our Nation, its sovereignty and independence, to submit to the requests of a foreign ruler. The future of Ostmark lies in the hands of its people, and nobody else. The Interim Government categorically refused to comply with the requests of the Tarusan government and will enact all necessary measures to resist this act of aggression.

The decision of the Tarusan government to halt the shipment of natural gas has forced me to enact a number of measures to defend the independence and sovereignty of the Republic of Ostmark, but also to guarantee the well being of the People, and the right to live an honourable life. With winter encircling our capital city and snow surrounding our mountain communities, and with temperatures well below zero, it is necessary for all of us to enact a strict austerity policy to limit to a minimum to the use of fuel, natural gas and electricity, in order to ensure enough heating for our children, our elders, and the sick.

Citizens,

Starting from midnight, tonight, all non-vital economic activities will be halted until further notice to prolong the use of our natural gas reserves, which are estimated to be capable of lasting two weeks without continuous supply. Heating will be provided twice a day, from 7:00 to 9:00, and from 19:00 to 20:30, with Healthcare facilities being the only exception. All government buildings will also be affected by this measure, with no exception.

The use of personal means of transportation, with the exception of bicycles and animal-powered vehicles, is forbidden until further notice. The Ministry of Infrastructures and Transport will guarantee public transport, and will receive emergency funds and resources to boost the existing network. All schools, from nurseries to universities, are closed until further notice.

We encourage citizens to wear winter clothing at home to prevent respiratory diseases typical of this season such as: common cold, flu syndromes, pneumonia and bronchitis. We encourage citizens to go to bed shortly after 21:00 and to add extra blankets, and keep windows tightly closed to prevent the dispersion of heat from their households. The Civil Defense will distribute hot beverages twice a day, and blankets and winter clothing to families in need of such clothing pieces. We encourage families to use electric stoves whenever its possible, but we discourage the use of electric heaters due to the high demand of electric power by said appliances.

All the emergency services coordinated by the 112 Emergency Number namely the Staatspolizei, the Feuewehr, the Rettungsdienst aswell as the Landwehr, the Grenztruppen and all institutions related to defense, public order and public rescue, will continue to operate as usual and guarantee first aid and emergency response to citizens in distress. Citizens who live in the vicinity of power plants and hydroelectric dams will notice an increased presence of Landwehr and Air-Defense forces. They will be deployed to sensible infrastructures to guarantee their operational status, and protect them against possible acts of sabotage by foreign infiltrators.

Fellow Ostmarkians,

The rebirth of democracy in our Nation will not be scarred and stained by an act of submission. Our people, our Nation, proud and free, will never submit to a dictator again. It will never submit to oppression again, and it will never submit to a foreign empire.

The decision by the government of Tarusa to stop delivering natural gas to Ostmark comes at a very unhandy moment for a country in the transition to democracy. We in Eiffelland see it as our duty to let this transition proceed with as few bumps as possible. Whatever the objections against the current path to democracy are, 1. it is a path to democracy, and 2. you can't make the common people litterally freeze for a dispute you have with the government.
We will immediately inspect the gas pipeline in Northeastern Eiffelland whether it is technically capable to deliver natural gas to Ostmark. As soon as the pipelines have been checked, been repaired and enforced where necessary, and been deemed fit, we will start delivering natural gas to Ostmark. For the short term, that should be enough to heat the houses permanently up to 10 degrees Celsius. That is still not a comfortable temperature, but at least it will not be freezing inside the houses.
In parallel, we will build an installation in Ostmark's largest seaport where natural gas tankers can unload. We call upon the countries with natural gas but without a connection to Ostmark's natural gas network to use that installation for delivering natural gas to Ostmark. The safety will be guaranteed by the Eiffellandian authorities. Like I said, we can provide an amount of natural gas that can linger the worst effects of the Tarusan boycott, but more natural gas is needed on the short term when we want the Ostmarkers to celebrate New Year in a comfortable temperature.
On the longer term, it is possible for Eiffelland to cover the delivery of natural gas until recently performed by Tarusa.

INTERIM KANZLER BOHMER DISBANDS PEOPLE'S DEFENSE FORCE
Volkswehr regiments will be gradually integrated in the new Landwehr.

You must be registered for see medias
By Heinrich Obenaus

WIEN (Ostmark) - As international tension rises between the Republic of Ostmark and the Tarusan Tsardom, amid shortages of natural gas and an economic lockdown, Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer, in a widely anticipated move, has signed into effect the decree on the disbanding of the Volkswehr, the People's Defense Force, to begin the gradual integration of military units in the Landwehr, the Territorial Defense Force. In a modest ceremony behind the Palast der Republik, a music band of the Volkswehr played, for the last time, the national anthem of the People's Republic of Ostmark. Shortly afterward, the band played the national anthem of the Republic of Ostmark, to symbolize the transition from the former political and party-controlled structure of the armed forces, to a more 'secular' and apolitical one.

The People's Defense Force was established in late 2018 after the victory of the National-Syndikalistische Volkspartei in the October 8th 2018 general election. Given the inner-oriented and pacifist stance of the National-Syndicalist regime, the Volkswehr has took part to armed combat only once, in the now defunct People's Republic of Borgougne, where a platoon of the People's Defense Force deployed as part of the Continental Protection Force to provide humanitarian assistance to the burgundian population, was attacked by an unknown paramilitary group resulting in the death of almost twenty ostmarkian peacekeepers.

After the withdrawal and the end of hostilities, the Volkswehr underwent a disarmament effort, moderately reducing its size and its capabilities on the eve of easening international hostilities. With the end of the National-Syndicalist Regime, Volkswehr forces were cut by 15%. Currently, the Landwer has a 35.000 strong professional force, but plans suggest the government will cut that number down to 15.000 by the end of March, due to high maintenance costs. The Volksmarine, the sea branch of Volkswehr, also operated a fleet of twelve submarines, which were dismantled by the Grasser government in the first quarter of 2019 to redirect funding for the construction of the Autobahn and the prefabricated flats in the outskirts of Wien.

TWENTY THOUSAND GATHER IN ANTI-TSAR MASS DEMONSTRATION IN WIEN
Protesters in Republikplatz shout "We are the beginning, not the end!"

You must be registered for see medias
By Heinrich Obenaus

WIEN (Ostmark) - Almost twenty thousand demonstrators, according to the Staatspolizei, have gathered since this morning in Republikplatz infront of the Palace of the Republic to express their support for the Interim Government presided by Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer, who exorted Ostmarkians to resist the abuses and extortion attempts put in place by the Tsar. Thousands of flags and banners were put on display by the crowd who defied temperatures well below zero, with tensions reaching their highest point when a group of demonstrators attempted to enter the building to meet Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer.

Herr Bohmer, who was dressed in full winter clothing due to lack of heating inside the government building, addressed the protesters who had successfully reached and occupied the main hall "We will not submit to the Tsar, we never will!" said the Interim Chancellor, amid the applauses and support of the citizens gathered around him "We are not alone, the world is watching us. Ostmark is not lost! We must resist, resist, resist!" he added. Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer also allowed elders to rest in the main hall of the Palast der Republik, where employees have distributed blankets and hot beverages.

In the first day of lockdown, the streets of Wien are deserted, with the exception of Republikplatz. The only vehicles to be seen are emergency vehicles. Wien's Fire Brigade reported a fire erupted in one of the flats in the outskirts of the capital city after a woman attempted to produce heating by burning paper and foilage inside her two rooms apartment. Thanks to the swift and quick intervention of the Feuerwehr, no injuries have been reported and flames have been extinguished before they could reach nearby apartments.

"Emergency shelters and hospitals have been literally assaulted by thousands of elders and children" says a spokesperson of the Rettungsdienst, the Emergency Medical Services "We are coordinating efforts with the Territorial Defense Force to set up new temporary shelters, provided with heating, for fragile persons. We encourage citizens to stay home and wear winter clothing at all times. We also exort elders to stay home or, if in need of assistance, to reach the nearest shelter or call 112" he added.

General-Oberst Sigmund Kruger, Commander-in-Chief of the Staatspolizei, said citizens have so far been complying with the decree, and no incidents were reported during the night and the morning "Many citizens are worried about their future. The State Police will provide as much assistance as possible. So far, in cooperation with the Rettungsdienst and other public institutions, we have distributed almost ten thousand blankets and two tons of winter clothing recovered from the warehouses of the People's Defense Force, where we confiscated jackets and blankets to be distributed among the population" he said.

The State Police also reported that hundreds of elders have gathered infront of the embassy of the @Holy Frankish Empire in Wien, after the Imperial government denounced the actions of the Tsar and transformed the embassy building in a temporary shelter "It's so cold in my village" says a 91 years old woman, from Wilhelmstadt am See "The Kaiser is a good man, the almighty will bless him and reward him for his good deeds. But i hope the Tsar will burn in hell, with his natural gas!" she added.

MILLIONS ARE READY TO VOTE AS ELECTION DAY DRAW NEAR
"We will achieve democracy at all costs" said Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer.

By Heinrich Obenaus

WIEN (Ostmark) - Out of a population of 5.7 million inhabitants, over 4.5 million Ostmarkian citizens will be called to the polling stations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday next week to vote for the composition of the next National Assembly and Chancellor of the Republic. A spokesperson for the Ministry of Interior and Transition to Democracy has reassured that "no delays" and "no changes to voting days and time" are being discussed and that the transition to democracy "will not be stopped or influenced by external factors" referring to the recent statements by Tarusan authorities that Ostmark is seeking to achieve democracy "at all costs".

Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer has confirmed the statements of the Tarusan government, and accused them of undermining the constitutional rights of Ostmarkian citizens by "trying to drag Ostmark under the yoke of the Tsar" said the Interim Chancellor "But the Tarusan government is right: we will achieve democracy at all costs" he added.

Almost one week since the Tarusan government closed the pipelines, cutting natural gas flow from the Tarusan Tsardom to the Repubilc of Ostmark, citizens have so far "complied with authorities" and "in most cases respected austerity measures as encouraged by said authorities". Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer has also prasied the efforts and actions of the government of the Kingdom of Eiffelland, renewing "the historical long-standing friendship between our countries and our people" he also added that "When the next government will implement reforms to allow the internal economy to welcome foreign investments, Ostmark will undoubtely promote favourable deals and discounted tariffs with particular regards with the nations and governments that supported and assisted us during this crisis".

WIEN (Ostmark) - The Ministry of Interior and Transition to Democracy has released the official results of the General Election held on the 5th, 6th and 7th of January. The Sozialdemokratische Partei Ostmarks (SPDO, Social Democratic Party of Ostmark) obtained 46,3% votes, and therefor secured a strong majority in the National Assembly according to the electoral law that grants a majority bonus to any party or coalition that obtains over 40% of the votes.

The Christlich Demokratische Union Ostmarks (CDUO, Christian Democratic Union of Ostmark) led by EPA Journalist Martha Feld secured 18,5%, while the Zentrumspartei (ZP, Centre Party), led by Linda Grasser, follows with 9,8%. The Nationale Volkspartei Ostmarks led by Karl Dietrich (NVPO, National People's Party of Ostmark) secured the remaining 25,4%.

Linda Grasser (ZP) and Martha Feld (CDUO) have both called Walter Eidman (SPDO) to concede the victory and congratulate with Herr Eidman for his victory, while Karl Dietrich vowed to put in place a strong but constructive opposition in the National-Assembly. Walter Eidman will officially swear to become the next Chancellor of the Republic on Monday. Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer has also congratulated with Herr Eidman and, as promised, will leave his office the moment Eidman will take the oath "Today a new Ostmark is born, and a new dawn of freedom and democracy has risen" is the comment released by Interim Kanzler Bohmer upon learning the official results.

INTERIM KANZLER LUDWIG BOHMER FOUND DEAD
EIDMAN TAKES OATH IN EMERGENCY SESSION

Staatspolizei sources confirm: "We found a handwritten letter, signed by Herr Bohmer. We have no doubt this is a case of suicide".

Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer (right) with former Volkskanzler Horst Grasser (left), Ca. October 2018
By Heinrich Obenaus

WIEN (Ostmark) - Ludwig Bohmer, the last Volkskanzler of the People's Republic of Ostmark and Interim Kanzler of the post National-Syndicalist government, has been found dead in his office in the Palast der Republik. A spokesperson of the Staatspolizei stated that authorities have "no doubt" that "Herr Bohmer shot himself with a pistol, the same pistol used by Horst and Andrea Grasser". His body was found by two Honor Guards of the Territorial Defense Force posted in the government building, upon hearing the gunshot. All the personnel has been evacuated to allow forensic units to conduct further investigations on scene, but the Staatspolizei does not suspect the involvement of any third party. "We found a handwritten letter in which Herr Bohmer explained the reasons behind his decision" added a spokesperson of the State Police.

SPDO Walter Eidman immediatly reached the palace and, exhorted by government officials and functionaries, formally took the oath to officially become the Chancellor of the Republic and prevent a power vacuum that "could have destabilized the result of the elections and the transition to democracy", said a spokesperson of the Interim Government "It is now imperative for the entire national community to enlist in the spirit of unity and cooperation. We will rise from the ashes and the ruins of our past" said Eidman.

Below, in an exclusive for Die Republik, a transcript of the aforementioned letter written by Interim Kanzler Ludwig Bohmer.

Ludwig Bohmer said:
Dear Gertrude,

You were right when you warned me about the dangers of National-Syndicalism and Horst Grasser. You were also right when you told me to not accept this position in the Government, when Horst asked me to become his Vice Chancellor. And you were right when, in 2014, after the default, you begged me to leave politics and move to Eiffelland. You were right when you told me that once you get sucked into Horst Grasser's influence, you wont be allowed to get out, unless you are ready to face the consequences. Well.. i am facing the consequences right now.

If you are reading this letter, it means i am dead and my body has been found in my office at the Palace of the Republic in Wien. I've shot myself with Horst's semi-automatic pistol, the same gun he and his sister Andrea used to shoot themselves. For some reason his guards simply put it back in his desk, after his death.

Regardless, i want you to know that i have done everything in my power to counter the actions of Horst and Andrea, but when i finally realized what they were doing and what was going on in this building, it was too late. I've tried to stop them, but i have failed most of the times. They have done some terrible things, things i had to approve and fight in secrecy at the same time. Had they found out of my moves and my opinions against them and their actions, i would have died a long time ago, or worse.

I believed in National-Syndicalism because i believed in a world of equality, justice, prosperity and happiness. I really did and, probably, i still do. National-Syndicalism was the poor man's struggle against the rich, against the exploiters, against the owners of the factories, against disparity and poverty, against desperation.. against sorrow. But.. that's not what Andrea wanted. She wanted revenge, at any cost. Physical revenge. She was driven by pure anger and hatred. Not just for the rich, but for everyone who disagreed. The few who dared to, have simply disappeared. Even Horst, sometimes, approved her course of action without asking too many questions, out of fear and submission to that monster, that psychopath of a woman.

But's not what National-Syndicalism was meant to be. It is not what me and Horst had planned. Our intents were good. We wanted nothing but the people to have food, jobs, houses and peace. We stood still for years as our people suffered hunger, poverty and unemployment. We said: no more. Nobody shall suffer hunger any longer. Can we be blamed for that? No, but we could have followed different paths, but now it is too late. The past cannot be changed. Our actions cannot be undone.

My access to the archives of the Ministry for State Security had been revoked by Andrea in mid 2019, when Horst appointed her as Director of the State Security Service. After their death, i've discovered she was spying on me, confirming my suspicions. Regardless, they had no proof of my actions against them.

Hundreds of thousands of citizens have been spied for two years, many have also been blackmailed and threatened into submission and oppression. Thousands have been kidnapped, tortured. Some have been assassinated. The State Security Service was in fact Andrea's private police. They have viciously attacked, physically and mentally, anyone who dared to challenge or criticize her.

For a while i had a friend at the Ministry, who went by the ID 80619/KA. He was the man in charge at the archives. He smuggled secret informations so that i could warn the victims and allow them to escape. Sometimes with success. I also had a contact in Eiffelland, a politician and human rights activist, who was sympathetic with the dissidents here in Ostmark. With his help we allowed entire families to cross the borders, in areas where guards were either sympathetic with their cause, or just willing to take bribes.

You have to believe me when i say i've done everthing in my powers to stop them. But i also know that it wasn't enough, and it was too late anyway. It is for this reason that i've ordered the destruction of the archives. I want to make sure that nobody will ever ever get access to those informations. He or she who has access to the archives also has control over the nation and the lives of almost 6 million people. I cannot take any risk, not after what happened in the past two years. As of today, the entire database of the State Security Service has been destroyed, forever.

Nobody has to find out what happened, or what informations have been gathered, what crimes have been committed, because there cannot be forgiveness for what they, and therefor i, have done. I am responsible, as much as Horst and Andrea, for all the crimes that have been carried out against our own people, simply because i wasn't strong enough to stand up and speak out against them in many, most occasions.

And i cannot, i will not forgive myself for this.

This nation and its people have suffered too much and for too long.
A reconciliation will not be possible if we don't put in place the conditions to move forward and that condition is to destroy the past, to make sure Ostmark will not consume what's left of its soul to find out what happened and who to blame. With the destruction of the archives, and with my death, there will be nobody left to blame.. and Ostmark will, for the first time, truly be free.

I hope you will forgive me for what i've done.

Yours,
Ludwig
