Prime Minister Surány Lays Out 3 Year Plan
Continuation of Previous Policies; Focus on Attracting Investments and Industry

Prime Minister Surány Viktor expanded upon his 2022 vision to continue pursuing Dravanian economic growth, noting a need to attract foreign investments as an additional external impetus for continued growth. Dravania's economic growth rate last year reached a sustained rate of growth of 4.3%, with agriculture continuing to be an important component, leaving industrial sectors lagging behind. Surány's new 3 year plan seeks to take aim at the industrial sectors lower than expected growth by continuing to dismantle state-sponsored enterprises, tackle non-competitive conglomerates, mediate differences between corporations and labour unions, and pursue diplomatic initiatives to improve export efficiency with neighboring nations.

Surány's initiative received widespread support from his conservative Dráva Unió Pártja as well as token support from counterparts across the aisle in
Keresztény Középpárt and Liberális Demokrata Lista, which Surány was quick to acknowledge as part of his plan to achieve cross-party collaboration after last years contentious elections sparked unrest within the minority government.

Surány aims to improve foreign access to low cost skilled and unskilled labor, especially in automobile manufacturing, metallurgy and steel production, and chemicals, with 3 year goals for various sectors aimed at a total industrial growth of 20% in three years. Critics in Társadalmi Akció Front caution that such rapid growth would not amount to an equitable improvement in standards of living for Dravania's social classes, yet most experts agree that overall growth will lead to gains across the workforce.

Surány Promises to Tackle Pannonian Refugee Question
200,000 War Refugees Remain in Dravania

With conflict in Pannonia reduced to a simmer, questions remain about the plight of more than 200,000 former Pannonian citizens who fled their nation during its collapse. Primarily housed in temporary camps along the border awaiting the promised day peace returns to their homeland, the Whitaker Peace Plan pushed by the European Forum proffers some possibility that their stay in Dravania will soon come to an end.

Yet reports of bombings, assassinations, and rumors of ethnic clashes continuing in Zara betray the promised peace and serve as a cause of concern for some in Komorvár. The government today announced it would cooperate with the Whitaker Peace Plan, but would not recognize the Kingdom of Csengia as successor to the Pannonian Republic. Foreign Minister Tóth Csanád, speaking on the issue, laid bare the Republic of Dravania's lingering concerns; that the Kingdom of Csengia must compensate the Republic of Dravania for the continued costs of sheltering and caring for refugees, work towards a repatriation plan, maintain and respect democratic institutions put in place by the Pannonian Republic, and cooperate on improving border security and tackling continued illegal migration and trafficking.

Activists along the border have expressed other concerns, particularly over alarming reports that paramilitary groups and death squads now roam the Pannonian countryside executing entire families of dissidents. Foreign Minister Tóth stated that the government would investigate any credible claims and act accordingly. The opposition is expected to push for more concrete steps and guarantees for the safety of repatriated refugees.

Government Discusses Zaran Question, Bolsters Forces
Assassinations and killings continue despite peace proposals

The National Assembly discussed the activation of additional forces to supplement two battalions already deployed to the Pojarzenan border, as credible reports that fighting would renew and foreign withdrawals froze late in the week. Facing the possibility of a second wave of refugees, the government is set to redeploy fully half of the National Border Force to the Pojarzenan border and six refugee camps housing more than two hundred thousand individuals, many of Zaran descent.

"We must fulfill our commitments as a brother nation, as a democracy, as humans, to those individuals fleeing death and oppression. Our borders will continue to offer asylum to refugees fleeing violence, and we will revisit camp infrastructure to ensure that the needs of the current population are being met," Internal Minister Kelemen Zsolt told media. An extraordinary session of the National Assembly's Pannonian Refugee Special Subcommittee met earlier today to discuss how the government budget for refugee maintenance would be utilized should additional camps be needed, pushing a new Issue towards the National Assembly.

The Issue recommends to the National Assembly to consider a temporary expediting process to long-term residency for refugees fleeing the conflict with assets exceeding ₮50kk ($500,000), for individuals with graduate diplomas, a proven skilled work history, or otherwise capable of contributing to the economy. Long-term residency would obligate individuals to pay taxes and allow residence for them and their direct family outside the specially designated camps to attain work and receive welfare assistance.

Atrocities on the Pozarjan-Dravanian Border
Amateur drone footage reveals corpses in border town

The Dravanian government has launched a full investigation into on the Pozarjan border involving the possible execution of refugees by Csengian death squads. The government has asked Pozarjenan authorities to cooperate with the investigation, and investigators have begun to question newly arrived refugees in order to document possible incidents.

The incident, captured on amateur drone footage posted online yesterday, appears to show bodies of a number of civilians. The footage, which has not yet been verified, purports to show the aftermath of an attack on a group of refugees heading to the Dravanian border, with bodies littering the streets of the small Pozarjenan town of Briševo.

As Csengian forces moved to occupy Zara and cement their control over the contested region ahead of a planned, temporary White Helmet deployment, the number of Zaran refugees fleeing the region has increased amid numerous reports that death squads and bandits roam the countryside, robbing and murdering Zaran refugees.

Speaking on the increased influx of refugees, Prime Minister Surány called on regional actors to take more definitive actions towards improving stability in the region, open their own borders to refugees, and declared that Dravania's continued capability to care for refugees without outside assistance was approaching its limit. Surány did not address the matter further, but experts believe that authorities may seek to encourage refugees to continue on to other nations if numbers continue to outpace the governments capacity to expand refugee camps.

We are willing to lessen the burden to Dravania in this matter, in the sense of financing, setting up and managing refugee camps, and in the sense of taking up a part of the refugees from Zara. We call upon the governments of other nations to do the same.

Gustav Kohlschreiber, Minister of Foreign Affairs
