Poverty affects 3 out of 10 Entrerrianos: New concerning statistics
  • INEI: there are nearly a million more living in extreme poverty now than in 2020
  • 29% of Entrerrianos live in poverty, with 5% in extreme poverty
  • Huge differences between the big cities, the islands and the rest of the country
INEI, the National Institute of Statistics and Informatics has released a series of concerning reports on the reality of life in the global south in the aftermath of the continuous disruptions that came from Gallo-Germania and the Meridian area, especially as large manufacturing economies like Rheinbund and Tianlong were affected by the reduction in oil production by Tarusa and Pelasgia, a reduction which Entre Rios could not compensate with its own meagre productions. Following the economic wars of 2022 and 2023, the first half of 2024 has seen grave disruptions in the Meridian Area and North Himyar, as the Meridian Union, an important commercial partner and manufacturing partner of the Confederation has been suspended for a series of months with the civil war in Ebria and the War in Aresura.

In the past three years, the stagnation that came with the Tarusan-CETO and Tarusan-DDI Cold wars have made the global south suffer the most, with the similar increases in poverty as in Entre Rios being observed in Gran Occidentia and Azraq, while very vulnerable states such as Monterrey, the Dune Sea, Batavia, Al-Magrab and Hajr going through even worse situations. In the south, the ones that managed to avoid such problems were the Cantignians, as they were part of the common Thaumantic Market, and being an oil producing nation with advanced economic sectors managed to make them avoid recessions and the increase in poverty.

The numbers by INEI have shown that 29% of Entrerrianos today live in poverty, while 5% live in extreme poverty. What can be observed is that poverty is centered in the mountainous regions, which are also isolated and lack infrastructure, in the south east of the nation, by the borders with Gran Occidentia. There is also an extreme difference that can be observed, with the capital cities of Callao and Santa Cruz, each with over 10 million people, being the economic engines of the country clearly shows, as they do enjoy 1st world standards of living, while the rural plains and the coast enjoying moderate development, while the Sierra areas having 3rd world life standards. The islands are an outlier too, as the Artigas Archipelago is a tourist haven and thus sees an influx of cash, while the Garay Archipelago, with its oil industry enjoys the highest wages and quality of life in the nation and in Occidentia itself.

"These numbers must be a wake up call for the world in general and for us in particular. The Confederation must protect its citizens and must offer development and commercial safety. This is the hardest in this global environment where the manufacturing bases of the world are affected by disruptions and war and thus commerce slows down. Currently, we are following a recipe for success, that is, expand our of resource exportation base, when we talk of oil, uranium, coal and iron, and also offer stability, so that investors can come to Entre Rios and not fear that they will lose their capital in all sorts of conflicts, be them political, economical or outright wars. We will continue fighting for the people and will ensure that the state provides a template for an economical life that is equitable and profitable too. This is but a step back in the aftermath of ten steps forward our government has done since taking power. We will ensure that we continue going forward," stated his excellency, Supreme Protector Sebastian Guevara y Lira.

Today, the Prime Minister, is starting a new campaign, hoping to give a voice to the women who are still afraid to report to the police abuses, rapes or harassment which they are subjected to in family but in the workplace too.

Entre Rios and Los Altos sign cooperation protocol in Santa Cruz

  • Santa Cruz and Puerto Florida set to cooperate in security matters
  • Rise of trans-national drug trafficking in the recent period
  • Allegations on Gran Occidentian secret services protecting drug cartels

Casa Amarilla has announced that President Sebastian Guevara has signed a Cooperation Protocol with President Pablo Prats, continuing the support since Entre Rios aided the latter in his independence struggle, as the Confederation is slowly building an alliance that by now is all but not formalised with the Free State of Los Altos. Still very vague about recognising the state either as the Free State of Los Altos or the Republic of Monterrey, Entre Rios, nontheles is a strong supporter of the rebuilding of the south-eastern bank of the Acahay river after the 7 Day War and has continued to subsidise with fuel and even capital, the burgeoning state.

The Cooperation Protocol signed at the end of this week as part of a service visit to Santa Cruz by President Pablo Prats, touches less on the issues of the past war, the mandate of Monterrey or the Tapenaga Question, but rather, in a very present and future to become grave problem, that can be observed with the return of the rise of trans-national drug trafficking in the continent of Occidentia, especially towards the rich markets of Westernesse and Gallo-Germania.

The tropical climate of Occidentia's north is perfect for the growth of coca trees, whose leaves are used by the local communities against height sickness, but since the 1970s, industrial level cocaine production has exploded. Entre Rios has gone through a period called the Infamous Decade, from the early 70s to 1985, where it was the biggest cocaine producer in the world and one of the first narco states. Since the fall of the military dictatorships, the government has fought against the cartels but it seems that even if in the 1990s and early 2000s a low in production and trafficking in Entre Rios has been observed, a slow growth is being noted and since the 7 Day War, it is believed that in the territory of the late Mandate of Monterrey, the current Free State of Los Altos and the Province of Tapenagá, cocaine production and distribution goes on unabated, resembling the levels of production in Entre Rios back during the Infamous Decade.

The Protocol opens the way for the Los Altos' National Liberation Army, its secret service, the National Security Service and its Police Force to cooperate with Entre Rios' Confederal Army, the Administrative Department of Security and the Confederal Police, so that they can fight against smuggling, drug trafficking and cocaine producers within the two countries. During the press conference, both presidents offered allegations condemning Gran Occidentia and its secret services which are using Tapenaga both as a producer but also a hub to coordinate cartels in Los Altos and Entre Rios, providing protection for them and also putting them in connection with the Radilan mafia.

"For nearly forty years, since the Constitutional Revolution, when Entre Rios ended its tragic decade in which it was the narco state by definition, my colleagues from Callao and Santa Cruz have fought to rebuild the country, reimagine it, hold the past accountable so as to futureproof the country for the next generations. For forty years, they have succeeded and Entrerriano presidents such as my colleague and friend Sebastian Guevara, but also Fabian Herrera, and others from the past are for me and for Los Altos examples to follow. Now we see that all we have build is endangered. The men of always, in Puerto Angeles, Integralists who only know to destroy and make others suffer are providing protection to cartels from Monterrey and are ensuring that there will always be cocaine producing laboratories around so that they can make billions upon billions of Euromarks. For forty years, the cartels have survived on the scraps remaining from the Aleman dictatorship, and after the 7 Days War, this all exploded and it is all emanating from Tapenaga," stated his excellency, President Pablo Prats of Los Altos.
