Premier Nadal dies in Hospital

Today the office of Premier has announced that Aurelio Nadal, Premier of the Confederation of Borovanger has died today at 10.34 am. Jerome Cuervo leader of the ASA ,Maria Gonzales leader of La liga republicana and Hugo Deat The Head of the Le Front Bourguignon have all issued messages of support and condolence for the family of Premier Nadal. With the untimely passing of Aurelio Nadal Borovanger has lost one of its leading political lights, Nadal had served as a member of Congress for twenty five years with five tears as leader of Partido Demócrata Carmesí and eight years as Premier. Nadal's career as a politician was not without its pitfalls with his turbulent personal life often making the news however his recent polices of privatization may prove to be his most lasting legacy.

Speaking of Nadal's legacy with First Minister Sotelo taking over the Premiership a new First Minister must be chosen from the ranks of the Partido Demócrata Carmesí, this according to Political analyst Armando Gomez " could very tear the party and the government apart, there are several strong contenders and regardless of who wins it is very likely that a number of politicians might defect to one of the opposition parties further weakening the governments majority".

. State Funeral to be arranged for Premier Aurelio Nadal.

. Protests continue in Tremere following the decision to begin the sale of the provinces state own railways.

. ASA calls for a general strike " Working class solidarity with our comrades in Tremere".

. Foreign Minister calls for calm in Crotobaltislavonia and the Yiddish Free State "we must let peace and common sense prevail".

The Free State of Trivodnia is sad to hear about the loss of Premier Aurelio Nadal, who help lead Borovanger through some hard and difficult times.

Separately we must object to describing Trivodnia as the "Yiddish Free State", which ignores the presence of other communities in our country, undermines our vision of a pluralistic, non-denominational democracy while also encouraging anti-Semitic attacks. We urge all foreign governments and media to be more careful in their wording.

The Commonwealth of Caledonia wishes to send its condolences to both the family and the close ones of Premier Aurelio Nadal, while also to the people of Borovanger which have lost a leader who managed to unite the people together and to guide them. We fear that this loss might destabilise the Confederation of Borovanger and throw it into a political crisis.

Stability and peace should be the most important characteristics the post-Nadal political life in Borovanger should emphasise on.

Signed
Cathal Loganach

How loyal is our military?

following the thwarting of a potential military coup by reactionary elements in Bourgogne questions have been raised as to the loyalty of our own military. Ever since its inception the Defense Force of the Confederation has strove to be an apolitical body dedicated to the protection of the nation and its people. In a effort to avoid any potential extremist infiltration the Army proscribes those deemed to have radical political views from enlisting, however recent investigations by El Heraldo show a growing divide among the Confederation's armed services, these investigations show that close to half of servicemen are " dissatisfied with the current government". Servicemen are generally encouraged to abstain from voting to maintain the military's apolitical nature, however many servicemen have stated that they plan on voting in this years elections.

Of all the political parties in the Confederation La Liga Republicana has seen the largest surge in support especially among the army following their unveiling of the policy to increase funding to the military.

State Funeral proceeds despite unrest
The state funeral of Premier Aurelio Nadal was held last Sunday with ambassadors from leading regional powers attending, there was a heavy police and military presence after fears that anti-privatization protests might interfere with the funeral however the this did not arise and the funeral went according to plan with several ten thousand attending the procession.

Acting Premier to take office, leadership contest
Acting Premier Sotelo is to be offically sworn in as Premier of the Confederation later this month, with a new First Minister to be elected from among the ranks of the leading Partido Demócrata Carmesí. Already several candidates have mentioned putting their hats in the ring for the position of First Minister.

Saulot Commune day strike grinds nation to a halt

Today the proposed Saulot Commune day general strike went ahead in cities and towns across the Confederation with thousands taking to the streets, the general strike has been launched to show solidarity with striking railway workers in Tremere. Premier Sotelo has made a public statement calling for the general strike to desist claiming that the strikes manifesto of halting privatization is "unfeasible and stands in the way of progress". So far the general strike has remained largely peaceful with relatively few scuffles with police hopefully this lack of conflict continues and order can be restored to the Confederation.

.Latest El Heraldo election polls show La Liga Republicana and Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire are now both well ahead of Partido Demócrata Carmesí.

The Confederal Government is informed that the Villesen Government is perturbed by the unfolding situation in Borovanger and is mindful of the repercussions any escalations could have for the delicate balance of regional peace. Should the Confederal Government fail to responsibly handle the situation a new civil war might erupt and history is the best indicator of what the Serenien response might be if that situation were to arise.

Government submits to union demands

Representatives of the various trade unions active in the Tremere strike and government negotiators have met and reached an agreement to put an end to the strike, in exchange the government is to halt the current efforts at privatizing the province's state owned railways. reaction to the ending of the strike is mixed with trade unions and the ASA stating how the strike is " a victory for the workers everywhere and proof of what the people of this nation can achieve when united". meanwhile La Liga has taken a different approach decrying " the weakness of the government in letting the confederation be held hostage by militant unions" .
Opinion.
Religion and the Confederation's politics
It will surprise no one to state that ours is a devoutly catholic church excepting of course the Al-Kez region which boasts an almost exclusively muslim populace. the church like much of society has been polarized the upcoming election. The Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire holds to staunchly christian principles albeit viewed through the lens of anarcho-syndicalism, the ASA has support from the more radical elements of the church while the Partido Demócrata Carmesí is supported by more moderate parts of the church. La Liga Republicana is the only party to avoid courting the support of the church due in large part to their policy of secularization.

: Election day 25th of June, pundits expect record voter turnout.

Historic win for the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire

All votes have been counted and a clear winner has emerged in the 2018 elections, the Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire under Jerome Cuervo have secured 48% in the polls, Premier Sotelo of the Partido Demócrata Carmesí, La liga Republicana leader Maria Gonzales and The Head of the Le Front Bourguignon Hugo Deat have congratulated the ASA on their victory. This years election saw record voter turnout among all demographics but particularly among those under thirty.

Jerome Cuervo will offically sworn in as Premier on July 28th, it is expected that his long time friend and ally Manuel Vega will be chosen as First Minister, Cuervo has promised he will announce his cabinet in the following days.

Peace in our time?
With the petitioning of Occitania to join the Trier Concordat the delicate balance between the great powers presiding over the region thrown into disorder . The situation further escalated with the Trier Concordat and Rurikgrad Pact both mobilizing their forces threatening to descend the world into another Great War. Fortunately clearer heads have prevailed and it seems that for now with a conference to to held with representative from the two blocs, hopefully this conference will banish the spectre of war looming over Europe.
more on page 2.

Which side are we on?
The recent Occitania Crisis has thrown into sharp relief our Nation's own policy of neutrality and raises questions the viability of such a stance in today's political climate. Certainly the Confederation has long history of friendship with the Republic of Serenierre but aside from that we as a nation are relatively open in our dealings with other nations. Both politicians and political analysts have raised the question of Borovanger forgoing its neutrality and petitioning one of these blocs for membership, however such an open declaration would risk alienating at least one of the great powers bordering the Confederation. Another idea floated by several political analysts would be the Confederation creating or joining an entirely new bloc of nations.

We congratulate the A.S.A on their win in the general election and it is our hope that Villesen shall continue to have productive and close ties with the Confederation of Borovanger under the tenure of Premier Cuervo as it has in past decades.

However, we emphasise that Borovangeren neutrality is a cornerstone of Gallian diplomacy and it would be advisable in tense times to not alter the status quo in to dramatic a fashion. We urge the Government in Saulot to remain committed to the principles of glorious Confederal neutrality.

Jerome Cuervo announces several of his Ministerial picks.

Manuel Vega has been announced as First Minister, Vega has a long career as a political activist who rose to fame in the 1978 Valera mutiny where he led a elements of the Borovangen Navy to strike over pay and poor conditions. Vega's appointment to the position of First Minister was no surprise to anyone versed in national politics.

Abbas el Siddig has been announced as Minister of Defence, Siddig will will be the first Kezzian to hold the office of Minister of Defense, Siddig is a veteran of the Al-Kez National Guard having served as a Captain in the Border Regiment where he was decorated for valour in actions in the regions ongoing struggle against banditry.

Father Jorge Solis has been announced as Minister of Education. Father Solis has a long history of charitable work and has been a ardent campaigner against poverty and illiteracy. Solis has been a longtime member of the ASA having been part of the party since its inception.

Marcella Sauvage is to be the Minister of Health, Sauvage has been a staunch advocate for women's reproductive rights and her appointment may hint at the possibility of the new government proposing legalization of abortion, a controversial move which will draw condemnation from the more conservative elements in society.

Daniel Espinoza has been announced as Minister of Police, Espinoza is something of a political outsider having never held high office but has been appointed with overwhelming support from the National Policemen's Union.

Premier elect Jerome Cuervo has spoken today at a Alliance Syndicaliste Agraire rally regarding the war in Gallo-Germania and took a firm stance on reaffirming Borovanger's policy of neutrality" The ASA will not send the young men and women of our nation to die on some foreign field, we will remain a beacon of peace and stability amidst a region engulfed by war". Premier elect Cuervo also made it clear that they would continue to trade with the nations involved " we will not turn our backs on the world, nor ignore our friends, we will continue to engage in trade with the Republic of Serenierre, the Trier Concordat, the Rurikgrad Pact and all non aligned nations". The Premier elects speech also touched on the issues of unemployment, regional autonomy and the state of the economy.

Sixth of August a day that will live in infamy
: a transcript of Premier Cuervo's press statement:

On the sixth of August 2018 the Confederation of Borovanger was attacked in a naked display of imperialist aggression by the Republic of Engellex. In an utterly unprovoked assault upon the Al-Kez the Republic of Engellex has violated our nations long held policy of neutrality, a policy which has stood the test of time and ensured peace and stability in the region..but no longer in one cruel stroke the work of fifty years has been undone and once again the Confederation finds itself at war.

But will remain resolute, we the people of the Confederation are united in the face of this aggression and we will fight to the bitter end to defend the liberty of all our citizens and god willing we will triumph over this foe.

god bless and goodnight.
Long Live the Confederation!

. Premier Cuervo calls for " all able bodied Borovangens to volunteer to defend the Confederation"

President of the Al-Kez Ahmed Hadami." we vow to fight on in the face of rampant imperialism"
