ELBENERS KILLED IN PLANE ATTACK
RPG takes down airliner in Loago

An airliner owned by the Gallegan Airways was attacked by an RPG in Maseru right as it was preparing to takeoff for Histria, carrying 230 passengers. Exclusive reports receive by the Harton Chronicle state that out of those 230 passengers, 98 were Loagans, 39 were Gallegans, 38 were Virunians, 23 Burgundians, 12 Eiffellanders, 9 Engellexians, 5 Natalians, 3 New Cathayans and 3 Elbeners.

ELBENERS KILLED IN RPG ATTACK IDENTIFIED
Foreign ministry announces support for Loago in struggle

This morning at the foreign ministry, Count von Schlabrendorff himself spoke to the press corps. The bodies of the three Elbeners killed in Loago were to be transported back to Elben in the coming days. They have been identified and the families have been notified. They are Max Lerner, 46, his wife Tessa Lerner, 44, and their daughter Angela, 16. The family had been in Loago as a part of a mission trip to Wala tribal areas. Their surviving family members are expected to meet with His Majesty soon.

Count von Schlabrendorff announced that Elben was officially recognizing the government of Loago and would be reaching out to offer support in its fight against what the minister described as "terrorists who use innocents as pawns for their personal gain."

HIS MAJESTY MEETS WITH LERNER FAMILY
Calls for volunteers to aid Loago in fight

At the New Palace today, His Majesty met with the parents of Max and Tessa Lerner as well as the couple's surviving children, brothers and sisters of Angela. His Majesty and the family then joined Archbishop von Eberstein in the palace chapel where he celebrated a Requiem Mass for the deceased. The bodies of the Lerners are expected to return to Elben later this week.

Afterwards, while the family met with the archbishop in private, HM himself spoke to the press, asking for volunteers to journey to Loago to join the fight against the terrorists. "Christendom cannot give these foes of civilization any quarter. It is incumbent upon us to do what we can when we can to fight for our way of life."

NEW GOVERNOR APPOINTED
Augustine Islands magnate chosen to lead community

Franz Manstein, lawyer and local land magnate of the colony, has been appointed governor by His Majesty by royal warrant. Herr Manstein is expected to take up his post in Karlshaven in the coming days. He replaces Baron von Schreiber, who died last year at age 92. Herr Manstein was born on his family's sugar plantation in 1969. He came to Elben to attend the University of Orel, where he eventually received a degree in law. Returning home, he opened a practice and assisted in running the family plantation, which he eventually took over. He has assisted in local government for many years. He is married and has four children.

FLASH! ROYAL ENGAGEMENT ANNOUNCED
Prince Leopold engaged to Serenien Princess Mereille

This morning at the New Palace, it was announced that Prince Leopold is engaged to be wed to Princess Mireille de Valvoisette on the first Tuesday of September. The dowry is twenty million francs in bonds and gold. His Majesty was said to be pleased at the choice of his grandson who is second in the line of succession.

After their wedding, the couple will reside at the Old Palace.

DEFENSE MINISTRY ANNOUNCES WAR GAMES
Games to be held in Geotri with Council of the North allies

The defense ministry announced today that Elben would be taking part in upcoming war games held by Geotri. It issued an invitation to its allies Gunnland and Elben and both have accepted. As a part of the games, the army general staff has ordered a partial mobilization. Army field police are standing by to assist Gunnish troops in their movements through Elben. Those troops have been in the country since the Christmas Crisis, working with army units on joint operations and coordination.

POLICE RAID BLUD HOUSE
Nekmet infiltration increasing

At a press conference yesterday, the interior ministry confirmed reports that a house had been raided by a police tactical unit in the town of Sigmaringen in southwest Upper Elben near where Elben meets Gunnland and Crotobaltislavonia. Inside police found a cache of blud and weapons and several dead bodies in the cellar. The bodies had been decapitated and the hands removed, making identification without DNA all but impossible.

The spokesman refused to comment on if police believed the house had been used by Nekmet gangsters. Sources speaking on background have indicated Nekmet activity has increased dramatically with the influx of refugees from Crotobaltislavonia as they have sought to both supply the refugees with blud and also penetrate Elben. With the camps overflowing, the BSD has been forced to begin seeking accommodations in nearby villages such as Sigmaringen. BSD officials refused to comment on if they would continue this policy in light of the raid. BSD officials also refused to comment on the burgeoning blud dealing and slave trade in the camps.

ROYAL COUPLE VISIT KRAWCOW
Krasnislavians turn out in thousands to welcome Princess Mereille

Prince Leopold and his bride Princess Mereille have moved to the last stop on their honeymoon tour of Elben. Thousands of ethnic Krasnislavians turned out to welcome the pair in a strong show of support for the monarchy, lining the main avenue of the city of Krawcow and waving Elbener and Krasnislavian flags. Not a few banners bearing the Serenien royal arms hung from balconies in honor of Princess Mereille's heritage.

Upon reaching the center square of the city, the royal couple was met by speaker of the regional sejm Brnabić, who presented Prince Leopold with an official lapista beret of the Royal Krasnislavians. Princess Mereille received her own from the head of the regiment's women's auxiliary corps. Properly attired, the two were led by the speaker as they reviewed a platoon. Afterward, Prince Leopold spoke briefly on the glorious history of the regiment.

After an overnight stay in Krawcow, the royal couple will retire to the nearby resort town of Lenz where they will stay for the final week of their honeymoon before returning to Eschenbach to take up residence in the Old Palace.

JUDGE'S BODY IDENTIFIED
Nekmet activity spikes as justice officials come under attack

Officials at the interior ministry today confirmed reports that the body found in a rural house on the shore of the Innensee has been confirmed to be missing judge Wolfgang Kohl. The judge disappeared on September 20 while walking the family dogs. A new quick DNA test was used, though the results are to be confirmed by more reliable tests that will take several weeks. The interior ministry declined to answer questions on an ongoing investigation, but police sources speaking on background have indicated all signs point to Nekmet involvement.

This marks the second murder of a high profile justice official in the last month, coming only three weeks after the execution style murder of Sigmaringen police captain Martin Strasser. The captain and his family had been receiving death threats in the aftermath of the Blud House raid in that village.

MAKING A HOME
Lifestyle editor Liesl Meier interviews Princess Mireille

This last week I visited the Old Palace where I had a chance to interview Princess Mireille as she has settled in after returning from her honeymoon with her new husband Prince Leopold. Their apartments are close to those of the young prince's father Crown Prince Karl.

"The Old Palace is a fine residence. But as my father-in-law the Crown Prince is a widower, it lacks a woman's touch. I hope to do something to bring some feeling of home."​

The princess, far from her home in Trier in the south, is working steadily to know her new people and make connections. As we toured the Old Palace and looked at initial plans at redecorating, she told me a bit about her honeymoon.

"It was quite an experience. Most of our travel was by car and the people turned out along the streets and the roads. Even in the smallest of villages, young and old were there to cheer us as we came by. It was incredible how many banners I saw with the Serenien arms. Everyone was just wonderful in their efforts to make me feel welcome and wanted."​

The Old Palace, in addition to the private apartments of the Crown Prince and his family, houses support staff for the two princes and now Prince Leopold's wife. Her secretaries are hard at work answering the mass of letters that have arrived since the wedding announcement this summer.

"They are all wonderful young ladies and I'm glad to have them."​

At the end of our time together, we were joined by Prince Leopold and his father Crown Prince Karl. Both men were all smiles as the princess shared with me an important announcement.

"My father-in-law here is going to be a grandfather soon."​
