Commissariate for Foreign Affairs

We urge Eiffelland to reconsider its measure, as its impact will destabilize the entire region far beyond the Danish borders. Carentania will be forced to react towards this conflict, if Eiffelland progresses the path it has chosen.

We invite Commissar Jerman to discuss the matter at hand in Danmark, so that we can clarify our intentions and discuss any concerns the Carentanian government has.

Carentania mobilizes Navy, Coast Guard

RIJEKA (EPA) - Amidst growing international tensions and a renewed flare-up of violence in the ongoing war in Yujin, as both sides begin major offensives, Carentania announces a full mobilization of naval assets of both the Revolutionary Navy and Coast Guard Corps. The decision was made by the Commissariate for Defense, which stated that it viewed Sikandari intervention and attempts to seek allies against Carentanian threats over the intervention to possibly lead to war between the two nations in the short term.

As of now, the Carentanian navy is already conducting operations against ships of the Empire of Yujin, whose own navy has been rendered largely incapable to stop the Carentanians from harassing its merchant ships. However, while mutiny is widespread in Yujin and socialist forces have triumphed the Imperial navy in early stages of the war, a possible entrance of Sikandara into the war could complicate things just like it is expected the Sikandari intervention will have a grave impact on the war in Yujin proper. Carentanian officials have openly admitted they take the Sikandari capabilities very serious and that the mobilization of fleet and aviation assets is intended to prepare the Workers' Republic to face them off.

The mobilization concerns the personnel of over 150 ships of varying sizes, crews for more than 500 planes as well as radar stations and bases along the coastline of Carentania. It adds further credibility to the Workers' Republics willingness of closing the Long Sea passage for Sikandari ships as a consequence of Sikandaras intervention in Yujin, despite vocal opposition to Carentanian threats by several European powers. "We will not let the defense of Socialism be dictated by capitalisted powers," Commissar for Defence Matija Dracar summed up the Carentanian stance.

Eiffelland increases strategic oil reserves

In reaction to a possible escalation of the war in Yujin, Eiffelland increases its strategic oil reserves. During his weekly press conference, Chancellor Graf von Seydewitz said the following: "Despite our neutrality in the war in Yujin, which cannot be called a civil war any more, we cannot remain blind for the consequences of a possible escalation of this war. A full-blown war between Sikandara, Sri Siva and non-communist forces in Yujin against Vangala, Carentania and communist forces in Yujin is becoming more and more a realistic scenario. We have to prepare for that situation. We reiterate our neutral stance in this war; however, that neutrality also means that only we decide where we buy our oil, and that any decision about that matter will be independent from who fights whom in Yujin. When needed, oil tankers destined for Eiffelland will be guarded by the Eiffellandian Navy."
On a question from a journalist about the stance of the Eiffellandian government on the use of chemical weapons by military forces of Imperial Yujin, the Chancellor commented: "We strongly condemn that, and we hope that this was not ordered or approved by the Imperial government. Any officer or official who ordered or approved the chemical attacks in question must be charged for war crimes. We will do everything we can from a diplomatic point of view to enforce that these officers and officials will be put on trial."
Chancellor Graf von Seydewitz also called upon all the foreign forces in Yujin to focus on stabilising the country and leaving any ideological disputes apart: "Both the Socialists, and the alliance between Sikandari and Sri Siva, and the imperial government of Yujin must open their eyes for the fact that tens of millions of people, maybe even hundreds of millions of people, are suffering from the war in Yujin. Decisions about post-war Yujin should not be enforced at the expense of so many people."

Also parts of army sent to Northern Eiffelland
Navy and Air Force mobilised

The government also announced the mobilisation of the Navy and Air Force. Two reasons were given for that measure: The civil war in Danmark and the possible escalation of the war in Yujin. Chancellor Von Seydewitz: "Regarding Danmark, our support is with the Danish, and that means both the Danes and the Germanics. We support Mr. Kammerschen and the Commonwealth against terror from Christiansborg, but we will also do everything we can to prevent Dane hunts. The conflict in Danmark has the potential to spill over to Northern Eiffelland; we have to be prepared for that. We will prepare the Navy against a possible Danish naval attack, and the army against a possible Danish land attack. Regarding the war in Yujin, we will have to keep trade in the Long Sea secure, and that is what we will enforce."

Danish Mezhists vow to fight foreign interventions

CHRISTIANSBORG (EPA) - In a public speech and mass rally by high-ranking officials of the government, Danish Mezhists vowed to fight foreign interventions in the civil war, calling upon all Danish nationals to join the struggle in volunteer formations. The Mezhists affirmed their claim to be the sole legitimate representation of the Danish people, denouncing the Commonwealth as engineered by foreign powers. "This is our darkest hour, but we will triumph," Danish leadership exclaimed amidst the cheers of pro-Mezhist masses.

Opposition to Mezhist rule in Danmark was stated to consist of "terrorists and foreign mercenaries" and in regards to Tyrrhenia and Eiffelland, the most active interventionist powers involved in Danmark, Danish leadership spoke of "puppets controlled by jewish cabals in Rijeka and Danzig." Accordingly, the opposition by both liberals and communists, the Mezhists argued, proved that "sinister powers" were working behind the scenes, using Danmarks neighbours as pawns for their own good.

Eiffelland recognises Faroese Republic

As soon as the results of the referendum on the Faroes became known, the government of Eiffelland announced that it will recognise the Faroese Republic. A spokesperson of the Chancellery indicated that “The Faroese people have indicated their wishes about the future of their islands”, and that “the international community has to respect those wishes”.

National elections in Eiffelland

The elections of the Staatstag, Eiffelland’s national parliament, are scheduled to take place on Sunday 27 April 1954. A victory for the CDV, Chancellor Graf von Seydewitz’s party, is expected, but it remains to be seen if the current CDV‑FDV coalition manages to keep its majority due to expected losses for the FDV, which is loosing more and more votes to the far right Volksunion. Quite some people traditionally voting for the FDV want to see a more confrontational stance towards leftwing countries like Carentania and Tyrrhenia than the government has shown, and those people decide either to not vote or to vote for the Volksunion.
Apart from that, there is also a movement of voters from the FDV to the CDV. Such a movement is seen more often in CDV‑FDV coalitions; in contrast when the CDV governs with the SPE, the voters move from the CDV to the FDV.
It is uncertain in which way the current war in Danmark will influence the elections. It can lead to losses for the CDV and more gains for the SPE, but it can also go a different way if the Eiffellandian intervention in Danmark turns out to be successful.

These are the stances of the political parties.

Christlich-Demokratische Volkspartei (CDV) (black)
General: Christiandemocratic.
Foreign affairs: It is of vital importance that Eiffelland keeps good relations with its neighbours. Continuation of current cordial relationships with Nichtstein and Franken, given the fact that they are still Eiffelland’s allies in the Germanian League, and Nichtstein is in a personal union with Eiffelland. Continuation of good relations with Sikandara, Ivernia, Arendaal and all other countries Eiffelland has good relations with. Continuation of current good relations with Tyrrhenia, and the building up of good relations with The Commonwealth.
Solaren: Eiffelland cannot retreat its troops before a well‑functioning constitutional state has been grounded there. That state can have a socialist structure, but only if the majority of the Solaris people want that. With emphasis: The majority of the Solaris people, which is not by definition the same as a majority within the SNC. A new constitution must be voted upon by all Solaris in a referendum. It is our opinion that the new Solaris Constitution should not contain any stipulations on the economy. Any radical changes regarding the economy must be taken by a parliament that has been voted for by the people of Solaren.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen.
Defence: Eiffelland cannot maintain its independence without a strong defence. More attention will be paid to the air force as well as the aeroplanes and helicopters in the navy. The land army will be equipped with more helicopters. More money will go to innovations in defence techniques. We need to become more aware of espionage activities by countries we don’t have friendly relations with; therefore, no budget reductions for the Staatsschutz.
Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy. Because of the nature of this system, it needs to be permanently surveyed so that the need for adaptations can be detected as soon as they occur. Additional stimulation of Dassau Flugzeugwerke. Extension of the motorway network, construction of the Trierer Stadautobahn around the city centre, and extension of busy motorways from 2x2 tracks to 2x3 tracks.
Education and science: Education at the Eiffellandian state schools and universities is free of charge. This needs to stay. Furthermore, the need for stipendia needs to be investigated. No structure change in the secondary education. We want to continue stimulating science. Eiffelland is large enough to excel in all scientific topics, but is mainly famous for its biomedical discoveries. We will continue to stimulate that. Furthermore, we want to continue our cooperation with Franken and Nichtstein regarding space travel.
Health care: The current system remains in effect, i.e. everybody is obliged to be insured for health care. Everybody is a member of the Krankenkasse of the commune where he or she lives, unless he or she can prove that he or she is insured for health care at a private company. Krankenkasse-premiums are imposed as a percentage of the family income, with an upper limit.
Ethics: No abortion, unless the life or health of the child-bearing woman is in danger. This is and must remain the current legislation in Eiffelland. More help for unmarried pregnant women; they committed a sin, but there must be room for forgiveness, and their children must not become the victim of this sin. The current legislation of sexual intercourse between persons of the same gender (legal from 18 years of age, and from 16 years of age when the age difference is not more than 731 days) remains unchanged; this legislation was the object of severe conflicts until King Albrecht signed for it in 1950, and we don’t want to open those discussions again. Condoms will have to remain legal. The separation of church and state must remain in effect; it is up to the Church and not up to the state to judge about preservative measures and homosexuality.

Sozialdemokratische Partei Eiffellands (SPE) (red)
General: Sociodemocratic.
The relations with Carentania must be improved. As soon as the war in Yujin is over, the events in that war must be evaluated, especially the chemical and biological attacks. Also the actions taken by the Eiffellandian government must be investigated.
Solaren: Eiffelland must retreat from Solaren as soon as the SNC is able to manage the country on its own. The cooperation between Eiffelland on the one hand and the SNC and Carentania on the other hand must improve. The SNC has the last word in Solaren, also w.r.t. the new constitution. The military presence of Eiffelland in Solaren must be reduced immediately, so that no conscripts have to be deployed outside Eiffelland.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen. Furthermore, the conscripts currently involved in military operations in Danmark must be replaced with professional soldiers currently stationed in Solaren.
Defence: Eiffelland’s armed forces are large enough as they are. Reductions may even be possible. This has to be investigated.
Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy, but taxes must become more progressive. No extension of the motorway network, no construction of the Trierer Stadautobahn around the city centre, and no extension of busy motorways from 2x2 tracks to 2x3 tracks. Instead, public transport must be stimulated.
Education and science: Education at the Eiffellandian state schools and universities is free of charge. This needs to stay. Furthermore, stipendia need to be introduced for students of poor families. No structure change in the secondary education. We want to continue stimulating science, and more cooperation with Carentanian and Tyrrhenian universities. We want to continue our cooperation with Franken and Nichtstein regarding space travel.
Health care: Private health care insurances must be abolished; everybody must be insured through the Krankenkassen. No class differences in health care.
Ethics: Currently, abortion is only allowed if the life or health of the child-bearing woman is in danger. We want to legalise abortion up to 12 weeks pregnancy duration also for other than medical reasons. Current legislations on homosexuality and condom use must remain in effect.

Frei-Demokratische Volkspartei (CDV) (blue)
General: Market liberal.
Eiffelland must actively fight the collectivisation of the Solaris economy, unless the majority of the Solaris wants to go for a Socialist system. This must be determined in a referendum; we cannot assume any more that the SNC correctly represents the opinions of the Solaris.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen. We realise that this man has a leftwing agenda for the Commonwealth, but trying to change those ideas will only further complicate the situation in the Commonwealth. We have to see what we can do on the longer term.
Defence: Eiffelland must keep strong armed forces if it wants to keep its independence. More attention will be paid to the air force as well as the aeroplanes and helicopters in the navy. The land army will be equipped with more helicopters. More money will go to innovations in defence techniques. The budget of the Staatsschutz will be increased so that it can pay even more attention to counterespionage activities.
Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy, but with more emphasis on the needs of the companies.
Stipendia are out of the question.
Health care: The Krankenkassen were originally meant for the people with lower incomes. This must become the leading principle again. People who earn a certain income must leave the Krankenkasse and take a private insurance. Private insurance companies must be obliged to accept everybody leaving the Krankenkasse because of income reasons.
Ethics: Currently, abortion is only allowed if the life or health of the child-bearing woman is in danger. We want to legalise abortion up to 12 weeks pregnancy duration also for other than medical reasons. Current legislations on homosexuality and condom use must remain in effect.

Liberal-Demokratische Partei (LDP) (yellow)
General: Slightly market‑liberal, leftwing in social issues.
As soon as the war in Yujin is over, the events in that war must be evaluated, especially the chemical and biological attacks. Also the actions taken by the Eiffellandian government must be investigated, so that we can learn from it for the future.
Solaren: Eiffelland cannot retreat its troops before a well‑functioning constitutional state has been grounded there. The SNC must make sure that it develops a constitution that follows the will of the Solaris as much as possible. The new constitution of Solaren must be approved by the Solaris in a referendum. We advice the SNC to make a constitution for Solaren that leaves as much room as possible to follow whichever path the Solaris want to follow, be it Socialist, a Social Market Economy, or full-blown capitalist. Or an authoritarian democracy.
The long‑range bombers mainly bomb large areas without any precision; they destroy large areas, killing many people, but are hardly effective in the sense that they do not always bomb what they need to bomb. This was shown several times during the Solaris war. Therfore, the long‑range bomber divisions need to be abolished; they can be replaced with fighter divisions. No budget reductions for the Staatsschutz.
Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy. Because of the nature of this system, it needs to be permanently surveyed so that the need for adaptations can be detected as soon as they occur. Extension of the motorway network, and extension of busy motorways from 2x2 tracks to 2x3 tracks, but no construction of the Trierer Stadautobahn around the city centre.
Education and science: Education at the Eiffellandian state schools and universities is free of charge. This needs to stay. Furthermore, stipendia need to be introduced for students of poor families. No structure change in the secondary education.
However, people who earn a certain income must leave the Krankenkasse and take a private insurance.

Pazifistische Reformpartei (PRP) (green)
General: Centrist in economics, leftwing in civil freedoms, focus on disarmament, pacifism and constitutional reforms.
Constitution: Abolishment of the monarchy. National elections every two years. New laws must not only be voted upon in the Staatstag and the Staatsrat, but also in referenda. It must be possible for the people to fire members of local and provincial governments, as well as members of the national government. This must happen in referenda.
Foreign affairs: Continuation of current cordial relationships with Nichtstein and Franken, given the historic ties. Continuation of good relations with Sikandara, Ivernia, Arendaal and all other countries Eiffelland has good relations with. Continuation of current good relations with Tyrrhenia, and the building up of good relations with The Commonwealth.
The military presence of Eiffelland in Solaren must be reduced as soon as possible.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen. However, the Eiffellandian armed forces must be retreated.
Defence: Eiffelland can defend itself with much smaller armed forces. The current government is ridiculously paranoid about any threats from the countries surrounding us. It is possible to improve our relations with Carentania and the RDTO, so that our armed forces can be reduced.
Partei für das Christliche Leben (PCL) (violet)
General: Theocratic‑democratic, slightly leftwing in economics.
The current events in Yujin must be investigated.
Solaren: Eiffelland cannot retreat its troops before a well‑functioning constitutional state has been grounded there. That state can have a socialist structure, but only if the majority of the Solaris people want that. A new constitution must be voted upon by all Solaris in a referendum.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen.

Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy. Because of the nature of this system, it needs to be permanently surveyed so that the need for adaptations can be detected as soon as they occur. Additional stimulation of Dassau Flugzeugwerke. Furthermore, the taxes need to become more progressive: Higher taxes for the higher incomes, and lower taxes for the lower incomes. Extension of the motorway network, construction of the Trierer Stadautobahn around the city centre, and extension of busy motorways from 2x2 tracks to 2x3 tracks.
Education and science: Education at the Eiffellandian state schools and universities is free of charge. This needs to stay. Ethics: No abortion, unless the life or health of the child-bearing woman is in danger. This is and must remain the current legislation in Eiffelland. More help for unmarried pregnant women; their children must not become the victim of the sin of the parents. Sexual intercourse outside marriage must be forbidden, and sexual intercourse must only serve the conception of children. Therefore, condoms must be forbidden. Also homosexuality must be forbidden again. The state must take up an active role in preventing sins.

Kommunistische Partei Eiffellands (KPE) (red)
General: Socialist Carentanian style.
Constitution: Abolishment of the monarchy.
Foreign affairs: Continuation of current cordial relationships with Nichtstein and Franken, given the historic ties. Continuation of current good relations with Tyrrhenia, and the building up of good relations with The Commonwealth. Improvement of the relations with RDTO‑membercountries. The relations with Carentania must be improved, given the fact that this country gives the example that every country should follow.
Commonwealth/Danmark: Continuation of cooperation with the current leader of the Commonwealth, Franz Kammerschen.
Defence: Eiffelland’s armed forces are large enough as they are. Reductions may even be possible. This has to be investigated.
Economic: Collectivisation of the agricultural and the industrial sector, as well as all companies with more than 20 employees.
Furthermore, stipendia need to be introduced for all students. The first four years of education need to be combined in an Oberschule. The students who want to go to universtity get 3 additional years of education in the Erweiterte Oberschule. We want to continue stimulating science, and more cooperation with Carentanian and Tyrrhenian universities. We want to cooperate with the RDTO regarding space travel.
Current legislations on condom use must remain in effect. Homosexuals must be treated for their disorder so that they are able to form healthy relationships with people of the opposite gender again.

Volksunion (brown)
General: Mezhist‑nationalist.
Foreign affairs: Continuation of current cordial relationships with Nichtstein and Franken, given the fact that they are still Eiffelland’s allies in the Germanian League, and Nichtstein is in a personal union with Eiffelland. Continuation of good relations with Sikandara, Ivernia, Arendaal and all other countries Eiffelland has good relations with. However, the relations with RDTO‑membercountries must be severed. It is ridiculous that Eiffelland maintains good relations with its post‑delegationist neighbour.
Solaren: Eiffelland must cooperate with the Alleanza della Fede so that that alliance can take over the power in Solaren. The protests in Solaren clearly show that the Solaris want to have an authoritarian society; we must follow that wish.
Commonwealth/Danmark: We helped the government by supporting the deployment of conscripts outside Eiffelland so that our Germanic brothers in Danmark would be protected against an unworthy government in Christiansborg. However, we feel betrayed, now that the government is supporting the leftist Mr. Kammerschen. We will only continue to give our support to the government if it stops supporting Mr. Kammerschen and starts supporting the Germanic Mezhists in the Commonwealth.
Defence: Eiffelland must keep strong armed forces if it wants to keep its independence. More attention will be paid to the air force as well as the aeroplanes and helicopters in the navy. The land army will be equipped with more helicopters. More money will go to innovations in defence techniques. The budget of the Staatsschutz will be increased so that it can pay even more attention to activities against leftwing countries and movements.
Economic: Continuation of the Social Market Economy, but with more emphasis on the needs of the companies.
Stipendia are out of the question. No structure change in the secondary education. We want to continue stimulating science. We want to legalise abortion up to 12 weeks pregnancy duration also for other than medical reasons. Current legislations on condom use must remain in effect. Homosexuality must be forbidden again, and punished with long‑term imprisonments.

Current polls show the following results.

CDV: Currently 141 seats; foreseen 152 seats.
SPE: Currently 119 seats; foreseen 125 seats.
FDV: Currently 118 seats; foreseen 97 seats.
LDP: Currently 56 seats; foreseen 52 seats.
PRP: Currently 35 seats; foreseen 33 seats.
PCL: Currently 12 seats; foreseen 14 seats.

Protests continue in Saaremaa

Protests and demonstrations are continuing in Kuressaare against the military regime. The demonstrations have increased in number after the initial protests that started yesterday. The student protesters have organized a sit in, blocking the entrances into the Kadriorg Palace, the government's headquarters. Marches and demonstrations have already started in other important cities in Saaremaa, namely in Imavere, in Kerdla, Loksa and Puurmaani. Marshall Mihkel Vaino hasn't officially commented yet, the only reactions from the government were coming from the Minister of External Affairs, Jaak Raud and from Premier Linda Tarvas, who asked the population to stop disrupting the public peace. The calls were followed by an invitation from Minister Raud to the table of negotiations for the leaders of the protesters. The offer was declined, as many people started shouting and declaring that they will not negotiate with an illegal regime.

The workers from the Louna Talu have entered into a strike this morning, condemning the fact that they company would be part of an imperialistic scheme to destroy an independent nation in Himyar. The demonstrators from Kuressaare have broken into the house of Riina Lepp, the leader of the Social Democratic Party, who was under house arrest since the end of the coup d'etat in May 1953. The demonstrators are calling for the end of the National Revolutionary State and the condemnation of Mihkel Vaino, Paavo Laht, Kalev Soosaar, Jaak Raud and Linda Tarvas for high treason.

"We won't end until we return to the democratic Saaremaa that we fought for last year. If the fascist generals want to keep themselves in power, they should be ready to kill more than half of this country's population. We won't stop until we have the rule of law and democracy return to this country. When Vaino will resign we will reform the NRS into a democratic republic, as polls that were organized in April last year, said that the majority of the people prefer a republic. Even if King Alvar would have made a great kind, as he was very open to new ideas, the last year's events, the fight inside the royal house with Prince Ott Andrus on one side and Queen Dowager Eha and King Alvar on the other, has made us turn our backs to the kingdom. The fact that Prince Ott Andrus was ready to kill Saaremaa citizens just to get the throne, makes it clear for us that the monarchy should not be an institution ruling a country in the 20th century," declared the leader of the Social Democratic Party, Riina Lepp.

Dissident Dynamists criticise Pindoraman government

VALONGO (EPA) - A group of exiled Dynamists launched their new publication in the Sorian capital today. Entitled the Critical Dynamist, the first edition is a series of political essays by dissident Dynamists opposed to the current direction of the Pindoraman government. Central to all the essays was the assertion Pindoraman leader Gustavo Esteva had fundamentally misinterpreted the texts of Tomás Joaquín de Mosquera y Ortiz, whose works form the philosophical basis of Dynamism.

Particularly, the exiles claim de Mosquera y Ortiz believed the 'Future Race', formed from a mixture of the different Human races, would emerge organically, and not through state-led initiatives. Pindorama currently maintains compulsory miscegenation programmes, with Pindoraman citizens prohibited from marrying another member of their racial group.

The criticisms are not new, and have been refuted repeatedly in Pindoraman state media. One of the leading critics is Bartolome Hurtado, who led an abortive coup to depose Gustavo Esteva in 1938, and has since repeatedly denounced the rule of Gustavo Esteva.

Growing Frustration for Nadzorca Franciszek Komorowski & Wendowie Revolutionaries

NOWOGRÓD (EPA) - Legislative deadlock and fierce resistance from liberal republicans, social democrats, and Catholic conservatives continue to thwart efforts by communists and post-statists to bring about a more revolutionary state in the Rzeczpospolita Ludowa, as well as revolutionary states abroad such as in Cyclopeia. This resistance has brought the government to a complete standstill, and provoked increasing frustration by the populace over the inactivity of their delegates, combined with further calls for autonomy and increased representation by Dansk and Vas minorities in the Wendowie dominated government, a domination criticized by radical delegates as "a betrayal of our ideals of the destruction of ethnic tyranny. To exchange one ethnic tyrant for another cannot be acceptable to any true revolutionary state". Moderate delegates, meanwhile, have ignored the calls for autonomy, arguing for further centralization of the government as well as moderation in foreign and internal policies, all of which are unappealing to the more radical communists and post-statists.

As for the Nadzorca Komorowski himself, his office has supplied no official statements, though aides close to him have expressed, anonymously, in interviews that "he is very frustrated by the deadlock and unhappy with the way the moderates are going in the Rzeczpospolita Ludowa. It's common to hear him complaining of their policies being that of 'obstructionism' rather than 'reformism'", a clear sign of the radical turns his political views are beginning to take. Such turns, however, are not endorsed or confirmed by him, speculated to be an effort to keep the moderates happy and on his side, though if the ongoing deadlock is any indication, it does not appear to be working.

Cyclopeians reach agreement to unify their nation!
Nauplio (EPA) - The delegates from all City States and the leaders of the two major factions controlling Cyclopeia have agreed to a proposal to form a Confederate system for a unified Cyclopeia. The idea comes from the Duke of Oenotria and Antikyra who based his idea on the views expressed by the Eiffellander diplomatic representative, who said he believed in a system that was neither too loose nor too centralized would be ideal for Cyclopeia. The Confederate system bases itself on Direct Democracy, broad autonomy for its constituent Amphyctionies and a central government made up of six instead delegates of one person. Based on the proposal the National Assembly is working to produce a draft, with Cyclopeians across the world already celebrating.

Lorentz I, the Exiled King of Danmark, calls for a ceasefire
Trier (EPA) -

Far to the east in Shahdara, King Lorentz I of Danmark, in exile since the death of his father the Mad King Friedrich III and the collapse into anarchy and civil war of his realm, has gone public for the first time in a year and a half by calling for a ceasefire between the so-called "Collectivist Union", a union of anarcho-collectivists, anarcho-communists, anarcho-syndicalists, anarcho-liberals, and socialists, both democratic and autocratic, and the "Nationalist Alliance", an alliance of nationalists, monarchists, church conservatives and a few of the moderates from the "Rzeczpospolita Remnant" of liberal and conservative republicans. This information on the factions that fight in Danmark-Wendziema, as the land is coming to be known, is still sketchy and requires some confirmation, but until the European Press Association or other news agencies receives further information it shall be used.

Joined by Crown Prince-Imperial Constantine, third in line to the throne during the reign of his father Friedrich III but now elevated to the heir-apparent, King Lorentz I has called upon all combatants in the on-going civil war to "stop the senseless killing of fellow countrymen and meet in the capital city of our once great land, in order to bring peace back to our war-weary people. For too long they have sown their fields with their blood rather than the seeds of the future, too long they have manufactured weapons to kill their neighbors rather than technology to bring prosperity to us all, and too long they have regarded each other as enemies, when they should be brothers and sisters of the realm." The statement is unusual coming from, if the reports are true, a blunt, anti-communist monarch. Political analysts, however, state that the words, although they come from his mouth, do not come from his mind. They instead come from Crown Prince Constantine, the only practicing Catholic in an overwhelmingly Protestant royal family, and already well-known and respected as an able diplomat. What, exactly, his own politics are is unknown, as he has usually worked behind the scenes for his late father or, as of late, his older brother, but whatever they are he has shown himself to be a force in the Exiled Dansk Royal Family.

It is unknown what the response will be in Danmark-Wendziema to the call for a ceasefire, but it is expected that the Collectivist Union and Rzeczpospolita Remnants will ignore it, while the Nationalist Alliance will keep fighting hard despite their war leader, the mysterious Lord Protector Erich von Kriplespac, declaring that he takes orders from King Lorentz. It will be argued, not without reason, that the expected lack of response from the other factions will necessitate the same from the Nationalists.

Regardless of the response, it is unknown whether the message will get through to the people, whose media blackout, recent reports increasingly indicating such an event being the work of the Rzeczpospolita Remnant, has reached its sixteenth day with no end in sight. The fighting appears to be indecisive thus far, but that makes it no less bloody, with thousands reported killed and many more wounded, and no end in sight, no matter how much the Exiled Royals wish it were so.

Leaked documents shed light on recent events in the Long Sea
Trier (EPA)

Documents obtained by the EPA from sources in Eiffelland and Sikandara reveal that the official investigations into the sinking of a vessel off the Sikandari coast on the 25th of May 1955 and the sinking of three Sikandari vessels off the waters of Eiffelland on the 31st of May 1955 have been considered to be connected. The documents provided to us include pictures of the damage to the wreckage and the state of the bodies, upon recovery, from both incidents. Prior to publication, this agency presented the evidence to three independent analysts, all of whom reached the same conclusion, stating that the damage was indicative of a torpedo attack. The damage to the vessels, the casualties, and the rate at which the vessels sank were factors which further made them conclude so.

This conclusion is similar to the one reached by the Sikandaris. The dossier made available to us by high placed sources charged with investigating the matter of yesterday's tragedy in the Long Sea, includes a letter from the Sikandari intelligence agency, DSS, which has stated in its preliminary report for the sinking on the 25th of May that it believed that the damage described by the first response team of the Sikandari Coast Guard was an example of a torpedo attack. The document does go on to talk about possible suspects but the copy made available to us was redacted at this point. When contacted, the Embassy of Sikandara did not choose to respond to our questions. Calls to the Grand Council for Diplomatic Affairs in Shahdara went unanswered.

The recent occurrences in the Long Sea have considerably harmed the Sikandari shipping and oil industry, which have been reluctant to send too many ships through the Long Sea, sending the price of Sikandari oil higher in the international market. The Government of Sikandara has however devised a plan to re-route significant amounts of oil ships from around Himyar to reach countries in Western Gallia and Scania.

IMPERIAL GOVERNMENT OF SIKANDARA
GRAND COUNCIL FOR DIPLOMATIC AFFAIRS

1. June. 1955

Speaking on behalf of the Government, as a whole, I welcome the efforts by the European Press Association to investigate the matters plaguing the security of the Long Sea. However, we urge all members of the press to be responsible in their reporting and to move forward in their duties without hampering the efforts of the international community aimed at stabilizing the Long Sea, in an effort to make it safer for all vessels.

Archeologists find evidence of ancient civilization in the Nabe Desert
Bahjon (EPA)

Archeologists have unearthed a Moon Shrine in the Nabe Desert, believed to date back at least 2900 years. If dated correctly, it would be one of the oldest religious sites identified in the area and an important piece of evidence of permanent human settlement in the Tyarin Basin almost 3000 years ago. The find is also significant because it casts light on the historical origins of the Faith of the East, which is believed to have developed from earlier cults in the region before becoming an institutionalized faith spreading to other parts of the continent sometime during the early dynasties of the Eastern Empire. Today, the Faith of the East is the largest non-Abrahamic religion in the world, with adherents primarily residing in Touyou, but communities of worshippers also existing in traditionally Christian areas.

"This is an important find, not only because we will hopefully be able to answer some questions about the origins of the moon as a religious code in worship practices of the region, but also because it allows us to contextualize the rise of civilization in the Tyarin Basin with the emergence of structured religious institutions", one of the archeologists said. "From ancient times, we have evidence of religious moon conceptualization in areas along the trade routes of Touyou as far away as the Implarian. Coins, pottery and other remains are artifacts of a cultural trope that morphed and adapted along the way, but managed to convey a core message even over distances exceeding thousands of kilometers. Finding a shrine here in the Nabe and then going somewhere in northern Yujin and being able to immediately find similarities - similar arrangement of windows, altars and the like - is amazing proof that our ancestors were far better communicators than generally previously believed."

The local religious community welcomed the find. The abbot of a local monastery said that the Eastern Faith welcomed and encouraged the gathering of knowledge and that evidences of the ancient origins of the religion were proof of its "universal and timeless" message.

Professor Sanma and his staff feel honored by the interest of our colleagues of the University of Shahdara in our research and latest discovery. It is always a pleasure when science is given the opportunity to inspire minds across borders, especially in cases like these where the interest comes from our neighbors in Sikandara. The staff humbly accepts the invitation and is looking forward to sharing its findings and their implications with an interested audience in Shahdara.

Nationalist Victory in Major Battle in the Ivernish Civil War
Caladbolg (EPA)

The Ministry of Defence of the High Kingdom of Ivernia has announced that a major battle between Imperial and Republican forces in the Breakaway Province of Milesia has ended with a major loss for Vedrarfjord and the Socialist-Republicans.

Ivernish reporters at the scene of the battle, which occurred two weeks prior to the official announcement have since stated that the Ivernish Imperial Forces were initially greatly outnumbered by Vedrarfjord and Weasfjord forces. However with heavy artillery bombardment the Imperial Forces managed to match the greater numbers and prolong the battle considerably.

However the greatest shock was when the Imperial Air Force was deployed from Nemedia. When the Republic of Melisia following suit, the military forces in Melisia's third largest city, Lowport, announced their loyalty to Caladbolg - after surprise bombing Weasfjord Military Airport.

A breakdown in support and command, and with a siege-worn Vedrarfjord air force unable to hold against the Nationalist Air Forces led to swift air superiority and a sound defeat of the Republic on the fields of Dungarvin.

With prisoner numbers reported to be in the thousands it still has to be seen how Taoiseach Nuada Airgetlám will deal with the captured rebel soldiers.

President of the Self-Proclaimed Milesia Republic John Holt has yet to comment publicly on the situation.

Following our long-standing tradition of accepting asylum seekers and those seeking to build a better life, we wish to offer to the High Kingdom of Ivernia an option. Should any of these prisoners deemed unsuitable for prison or if they are acquitted of any crime, they would be welcome to come to Längerland on a special visa, no questions asked. Our High Commission in Caladbolg can assist with the processing and transport.

No matter what may happen, the High Kingdom of Ivernia has no impulsion of passing off the duties and obligations of justice and moral good bestowed upon it by God and by the Right of all Ivernish Men in the name of our High King.

All prisoners held by the High Kingdom of Ivernia, from the lowly criminal to the Rebelling Ex-Soldier shall be dealt with solely under the auspices of the Judgemaster of Ivernia. The High Kingdom of Ivernia has no interest - nor intention - of passing off these duties and obligations to another - least of all disposing of them in foreign lands - alike an expulsion or exile. No matter what the situation may be for Caladbolg it shall administer justice fully, freely, and with complete exercise, so long as the State may Stand.

As Nuada Airgetlám has stated as a core dictum of the New Ivernia; If a State cannot defend itself then it is no State at all. This includes defence from it's own citizens who would disturb the public peace of the Realm.

Duke Dathí Mac Suibhne, Prince-Elector of Foreign Affairs and Trade
