TO: Pelasgian Empire
SUBJECT: Activists' Fate

Esteemed Representatives,

The United Republic of Natal is concerned by the events which have taken place in the Far Southern Archipelago, under Pelasgian administration, especially in regards to the health and safety of its citizens. We understand that the Pelasgian Empire is quite severe in its laws and against such disruptions, but we feel that through dialogue we can reach a compromise.

The United Republic understands the massive illegalities that have been done through the illegal disablement of the activists' ship transponder and will fine them for violating the regulations of sea transportation. We thus now also request the Pelasgian authorities to allow them to return to Natal, rather than imprison them.

Signed and sealed,
Cyrus Black
Minister of External Affairs

Propontis, 07/10/2022

To the attention of the Hon. Cyrus Black, Minister of External Affairs of the United Republic of Natal.

Honourable Minister,

The Pelasgian Empire appreciates the United Republic of Natal's understanding of both the severity and the criminal nature of the actions undertaken by its twelve arrested citizens. We also share our Natalian counterparts' assessment regarding the strong possibility of a negotiated compromise regarding their fate.

As it stands, the twelve mariners in question are being held pending charge by the Imperial Harbour Corps in Nea Attaleia, the capital of the Exarchate of the Far Southern Territories. They face charges of piracy and international transportation of narcotics (both of which are capital offences), as well as various levels of assault, naval law violations and destruction of property. Several inchoate crime charges are also likely.

The Pelasgian Empire has no wish to execute Natalian nationals, nor does it wish to imprison them for lengthy periods of time. Nevertheless, we are also convinced that the individuals in question cannot be allowed to go free without some form of punishment, for reasons of deterrence if nothing else. As such, we propose that the defendants be returned to Natal, in order to be imprisoned in their own native jurisdiction following a plea deal. We would also ask that they permanently be prohibited from navigating again.

I eagerly await your response.

Signed and sealed,

Φίλιππος Ἀνδρεάδης
Philippos Andreades
Minister of Foreign Affairs
