The FALEK group, or just FALEK, is an oil company owned by the Shaeoiumlan government.
The group was formed in 1975, joining the private crude oil extraction company Fâlthaik-jôl, and the Thêka, a state-owned company that used to provide gasoline to the military.
The group expanded in the 1980s, when a series of restrictive laws, created ad hoc to weaken other companies in favour of the group, were introduced by the governing Constitution League party.
In 1997 the last remaining competitor, Thêrebe-jôl, declared bankruptcy and was absorbed by the giant.
FALEK is managed by a council of economists and experts. Although the councillors are state-appointed the council has gained a significant degree of independence under the center-right governments that have ruled the Fàlthaikshadom since the formation of the group.
The independence enjoyed has evolved from a series of good economic decisions that have assured international relevance to the company.
