Royal Mausoleum of King Carlos Francisco I

At the royal tomb of his moderate, isolationist father, King Carlos Francisco II prayed. "Hello papa. I do hope the ground is treating you well. Do excuse my absence. Matters of state. Matters of not being weak, a spayed Senate errand boy. When I die it will be at the head of an empire. THE great southern power. Not from a depressed heart attack.....you broke my heart. You derelicted your duties as father and sovereign."

He took a swig from a bottle of Brandy he had brought with before pouring some upon the late sovereign's grave. He was then interrupted by aides. Royal Guards in toe.

"Majesty, your will is done." An aide said.

The King had personal checks cut to the former Foreign, Finance, & Commerce Ministers. While they hadn't had his permission for their words, they had had it for the actions undertaken. They, & their King had been misled by faulty intelligence briefs. The briefs said the Pelagsian government had declared a trade war upon them for no reason. In a nationalist furor the King ordered those retaliatory measures.

Upon learning it was only an independent Pelagsian business federation, HRM underwent an equal furor. Those guilty for the faulty Intel brief were also fired, & blacklisted from any future government employment. Swords had to be fallen upon, & the 3 Ministers were after all patriots. Hence the personal checks of an undisclosed amount.

"Good. Thank you. No one else will know or speak of this again. The next Intelligence Ministry bureaucrats to imperil me like this will be hauled in front of a tribunal so help me Yahweh."

Upon the aides leaving, the arrival of the Chief Guard followed the Prime Minister as he neared the hallowed ground. He motioned for permission to enter & approach his boss. It was granted. He bowed.

"Majesty. I do hope I'm not interrupting."

"No. The respects are paid. I'm glad my dear mother went first for that would have surely killed her. You have served me faithfully Jean. I thank God your reelection prospects are secured for tomorrow."

"Majesty....do you think the Pelagsian government DID in fact endorse any of that?"

"No.....perhaps. Never trust a Catholic...."
