Strait of Bochlwyd named after a ancient legend where hunters from a local village along the Sutherland's coast, went hunting in the forest. The spirit of the forest Liono would promise them bountiful harvest as long hunting parties would stay away from old greyed stags. One day the hunters were greedy and lazy they decided to hunt a old stag because that day the young ones were too fast. Upon chasing the stag a great bone chilling fog descend on the forest. After running around in circles which felt like days, the hunting party were able to catch up to the old stag killing it with one fetal blow but unfortunately due to the fog the stag disappeared. In excitement they run straight where they believed the dead stag would be unaware until the fog give away to the cliff edge leading them straight down the sea.

Nowadays the Strait has Bridgeport to watch over it, a maritime city providing a safe heaven for seafarers travailing across the North Thaumatic Ocean.

The Greycheek tales follows these seafarers and travellers of many creeds. Also the people who ensure the safety and neutrality of this heaven .

The Captain had returned from leave and just drop his bags, he had only been away for two weeks and his pigeonhole was awash with letters. He sat down at his desk to start reading notes made by his second in command in his abuse, the notes read.

Hello there Captain hope you had a good leave inside is the reports you requested from each departmental head alongside the latest budget from the Pusser's office. All quiet on the western front so far only thing an important letter was sent from the Admiralty's Board to told by the courier only to be seen by your eyes on your return.I left it in your office's safe.

Signed: XO Commander Hughes

After entering the code in his safe hidden under a floor board directly beneath his desk, he got was able to get a brown envelope with a wrapped red band which itself was in a plastic wallet with a non tamper tag. After playing around to get the tag off, he was finally able to open it, so it follows.

Day One Operation Safety Gloves,
Port Authority Police Station

There was something about Sunday morning Charles liked maybe it was a new ABs sick from night before filling the station's air, the half drunken sobbing from the cells. Officially he didn't work the weekend only the odd Saturday Night to help cover the duty Warrant Officer's time off but he would pop in the station on a early Sunday mornings. He was a paper pusher, spending most of his time looking over duty and custom papers sent from the port alongside doing random audits of C.D.S ships' supply chain.

In the beginning when the judge handed him the sentence, he was excised, doing what he as always done but this time on Prince's pay not some wannabe Kingpin or third world shit hole smuggler. All the excitement went after officer training. Strathclyde didn't do much on the international stage besides one thing it will die on the hill of neutrality.

Charles would either go round in circles patrolling the same coastline and rivers or enlist for Defence Policing Corps. Again he thought might see some action in the D.P.C but never less his superiors had different thing in mind for him. Even through 95% of the Strathclyde Defence Force were trained either through the Nords or the Dominion Forces. He was still an outsider all his family had created a new life in Beautancus, none of them served in the Manx Democratic Front, Druid Volunteer Army or the international Workers' Brigade. He was hired gun at first spending most of his early adult life protecting oil tankers or providing security to dignitaries in some far off land which name no one could pronounce.

The top brass didn't trust him because of that, the judge on the other hand thought his skills would best used as an Officer.

"You have wronged this country due to your crimes of greed but you are still young. I shall give you a second chance." The judge told him seven years ago. Here he was in the Port police station babysitting new ABs and old dogs of the world's merchant navies.

He had only walked in for few minutes to the station, already that morning's duty station Sergeant had work for him.

"Good Morning sir, hope you had sleep well." The Sergeant said to him. Charles stop for a second looking at the pile of paperwork littering the Sergeant desk. Sergeant tend to keep himself to himself unless he had really troublesome guests downstairs in the cells.

"Cut the bullshit Sergeant, what you need?" Charles asked annoyed, he like to pretend he was above this mess of which only enlisted men and NCOs dealt with. A hangover of his officer training but the truth was he like it, it was different from the usual 9 to 5 plus importantly he could keep eye on things before they over-spill onto his Commanding Officer's feet.

"Well we are bit over filled and we got foreigner downstairs tried to play feisty cuffs with dozen of our new boys last night in Diamond's Lees." The Sergeant answered

"By the gods how drunk was he?" Charles asked, he knew that it was going to be madness due to ending of summer leave and new ABs starting their first tours.

"No Sir he wasn't, he is Cussian." The Sergeant Replied.

Understated and misunderstood, Strathclyde perplexed yet inspired the Engellachians at. Their devotion to kin was endearing to all Kinists, and their earnest assessment of the TEZ and how to benefit from it was refreshing to Engellachian naval officers who chose to port there.

"TRS (Third Republican Ship) Marpesian hailing Strathclyde, TRS Marpesian hailing Strathclyde, are we at liberty to dock?"

LÉ Eithne communication room answers the hail
"This is Le Eithne flagship of the His Majesty's Coastal Defence Service, you are permeated to enter Strathclyde's E.E.Z. In relations to liberty to dock we are currently experiencing heavy traffic on main entrance to HMNB Bridgeport. In order to gain permission we request that you follow one of our off-shore vessel while allowing one of our pilot on board , they will assist in navigation of our waters. We then suggested for you to contract HMNB Bridgeport directly on Channel Bravo Papa 4 in order to find out timing of the next opening. We have been told waiting times are no longer then half hour. .

Cussian, indeed. Tagwadihi Saunooke (also known as "Thomas Glass") would've laughed, not terribly long ago at all, had someone described him as just a Cussian.

Glass was, technically, a Cussian. In the most strictly legal sense, beyond doubt. He was even half Cussian by birth, which was in turn something he'd spent the better part of his life trying to erase, forget or ignore.

The cast of his features, sharp and narrow, skin only slightly ruddy, eyes a bright green and ginger, albeit darkly, otherwise - it was all but impossible for Glass to claim his own heritage without being given raised eyebrows in response.

As Tagwadihi, born to a mother of the Katawba sept of the Overhill Uctené, his mixed ancestry was something he was never allowed to forget. The Katawba had called the Blue Mountains in and around the infamous city of Chicamauga home. Before, during and now long after the Fictional Troubles that had lent the city her infamy. It had been a good time, new neighbors bringing a new, good word and a sense of fellowship they'd never known. For all involved, it had been a brief, golden age coming before an even briefer, unimaginably thorough fall.

The Uctené had taken the betrayal of conversion to the Catholic Fictionalism of their immigrant neighbors very seriously, and the reflexively Nativist orthodoxy the Katawba had since adhered to made the status of Halfling almost unbearable.

That was what the Katawba called people like Tagwadihi, in the bitter years after the scouring of Fictionalism from the azure hills. And that was what it had taken, for the greatest of the Indigene Dominions to accept their wayward kin back into the fold.

Glass paid the price of that new orthodoxy, a Halfling so out of place in his own country that he'd been forced to seek his own good fortune abroad. The life led in making his way elsewhere, and the connections that he'd been forced to make in the so doing had all but determined what sort of life that would be before he'd ever arrived.

That had been some years ago, the arrival. Strathclyde was not so different from the eastern High-Country of Beautancus, at least in terms of the kind of people it bred and fed. Some of that, Glass was sure was just by nature. The rest though, that was how he made his money.

Building upon the brief, but very educational career as a mercantile seaman that had purchased his travel across the Thaumantic, Glass had reinvented himself as a fixer of sorts. A jumped-up drug dealer, gun-runner and pimp in all truth, it was still the best living the Halfling exile had ever been able to make.

Perhaps more dangerously than his usual run-ins with the local cops, this one involved the middle enterprise, running guns. The most lucrative of his three businesses by an obscene margin, it was also the biggest headache, by far. He'd never been hassled over the hookers - not once - and a serious drug charge might as well roll off his back as a raindrop off a duck's...but gun charges were always a bit more expensive to make disappear.

"And I have no fucking clue what, or how much they've got Larry," Glass had explained to his lawyer a while earlier, finally beginning to sweat.

The cops hadn't said anymore than that they were arresting him "under suspicion of the illegal import of restricted firearms." Given Glass' interests, especially at present, that could well be incredibly bad news.

"It could also just be some mouthy git runnin' their fookin' repeatin' some idjit yardy gossip too Tommy," Lawrence - "Larry" - de Moravie reminded him.

"This ain't your first taxi ride, don't let these bastards shake you. We've all got too much ridin on it, an' yoooo." The stocky Gael had jabbed a finger into his shoulder then, for even more emphasis. Lawyer or not, Larry was not a man to be screwing around with lightly. Even less so with the other men that Larry "represented," who'd long since become Glass' most serious repeat customers.

So it was that Glass sat, now alone, sweating it out while Larry stepped out to "make a few phone calls" while they both waited for the boys from upstairs to come back down and have a little talk.

The Cells smelt even more of dried up sick, stale pee and musty sweat with no windows only LEDs lighting up the place leaving a artificial glow. Charles agreed to help out the Duty Sergeant, he wanted to see if could recognised the lost Sailor. Maybe it was a old shipmate he joked to himself. It wasn't first time he had one of his old friends in a cell expect this time he was on the other side.

"Just what I need a Cussian clogging up the cells." Charles thought to himself.

While walking across the room to reach Glass, he noticed one of new AB crying in the corner of his cell. He grab one of wooden sticks the guards were carrying.

Clung! Clung!

He smacked the cell's bars twice to get the ABs attention, the AB stood upright even through he was still drunk from the night before. He was still aware of the stories of Charles, he give him a salute and barked.

"AB Murphy of C.D.S James Joyce Ship's Company"

It took Charles a few seconds to assessed the mes before, the AB's uniform was all over the place, shirt untucked and sick all over his trousers. He come in close towards the bars and stared directly into the AB's eyes

"What in the Gods' name do you call this Murphy?!" Charles face was twisted while shouting and he smacked the bars again in anger. Murphy jumped out of his skin. He asked one of the guards to get him spare clothes while doing that he took out his notepad to write Murphy a ticket.

"You got 30 seconds to get change, a further five minutes to give me 100 push-ups and to get yourself out of this station in order to report for duty on Joyce. You got that AB?!" Charles barked, that was his favourite part of Sunday's Mornings giving drunken men impossible tasks to complete. He ripped off his ticket off his notepad to shoe Murphy.

"If you are able to do the task within the time frame given, I won't hand this note to your commanding officer." Charles said while waving it in the air. Nothing was on the ticket, he just like to give the false hope. He turned to talk one of the guards with the spare clothes, he whispered in guard's ear to inform the duty Warrant Officer on board the Joyce of this mess.

Charles only walked a few steps further to find a old sea dog bent over on his chair in his cell, the dog had dried chunky sick on his bread

"Get this disgusting sight out here." Charles ordered, one of the guards got a bucket of water to throw at the old sea dog hopefully to help with the smell.

It was bad enough baby sitting ABs we couldn't handle their drink but since a part of the port was rented out to cargo ships and the ferries to First Republic. He had to deal with international guests speaking of which the Cussian had been silent only speaking to his lawyer who come first thing in that Morning. It was strange most of the drunken merchant sailors would take a fine and walk out of the place in half hour.

"This one was hiding something." Charles thought to himself, he pulled out his notepad to review the Cussian before speaking.

Name Mr Glass all the guy has given
Reason for arrest brawling in Lee's
time of arrest 0204
items on person
chewing gum cigarettes, wallet with different currencies and Crew ID for a shipping company

"What was a Cussian doing by himself in Lee's mostly used by our boys, you catch most of the foreigners drink in the Blues." Charles wondered

He finally got to the cell, Glass was sitting with his back straight against the wall arms folded in a gaze.

"You enjoy the smell of piss?" Charles asked in the Cussain native tongue.

Straits of Greycheek - International Waters

The HMS Unwavering was steaming at a steady clip of 18 knots southwest through the straights not far behind a couple of Nedernesian and Salean flagged cargo ships. A few other cargo vessels of various flags were not far behind. Ever since the Cussian TEZ had been declared, many private shipping lines had chosen to pass through here instead due to the much cheaper insurance premiums. The Royal Nedernesian Admiralty was a common sight in these waters. Just a few weeks ago the HMS Dauntless had passed through these straits on its way to western Pohjanmaa.

Today the Unwavering was simply intermixing itself among the civilian traffic to keep an eye on things and ensure all was well. With traffic heavy the bridge was busy to chart a safe course and ensure ample space was provided between passing ships.

LE Eithne was radioed as she came within view.

'LE Eithne, good day from the bridge of HMS Unwavering. How goes it? We entered the Straits early this morning from the Engelsea. All appears well from our side. We request a clear charted course for the duration of our stay in these waters. Upon reaching the Thaumantic we will turn around for our return trip to Nedernesia. We defer course charting to your Navy. Please let us know if we can be of any assistance.'

The frigate continued its route and gave out a friendly horn call as it came within earshot of its Strathcldean counterpart.
