Usually this would be done by our right honourable Foreign Minister Torres. Yet it falls to me. It is now the full opinion of The Great Southern Kingdom of Justosia that Queen Katrine Frederikke is your legitimate queen.

'Queen' Julian needs to abdicate immediately. This is our opinion. Viva Justosia.

A BLACK EARL IN AYR? COUNTESS MARY TO WED AZRAQI PRINCE
Confirmation of SCHAU! Rumors Generates a National Bigamy Scandal

AYR. The Comital Palace confirms that the MacLeod, Countess Mary of Arundel, plans to marry Dalmar Filsan Tahiil, the heir to an important Azraqi imperial family, the Ughaz of Haradhera. Photographs circulated in the earlier this week have been confirmed. Bishop Broithe issued a statement saying that Countess Mary has not yet requested an annulment of her marriage to former Leader James Buchanan Blackthorn, and if such a case was not successful, she would be found guilty of bigamy. Dr. Blackthorn could not be reached for comment.

The spokesman for the MacLeod, former ambassador Martin mLd. Gordon, issued a further shock. Upon his marriage to the countess, Mr. Tahiil will inherit all title, and become Earl of Arundel, Duke of Lower Marpesia, and Prince of Port Stanley. This will allow the latter style to revert to "Emir of Mafewa," to the great pleasure of the Moslems of Port Stanley, but some consternation among Gunnishmen.

The mood is especially tense among Mary's southern subjects in Île-des-Pins. "All enlightened people admit that Pillars of Nearchus are the far edge of civilization," said Hadrian Molyneux, MT-Integrity, a Marpesian subject, "but we did not expect to kneel to a duke from the very furthest corner of the world."

Among Mary's Arundalian subjects, especially in Ayr, there is wider acceptance. "Gunnland must move past racism," said Matthew mLd. Stolmand, MT-Liberal, "We should be pleased the countess has found love, and respect her personal decision. The Church especially must see that the Blackthorn marriage was invalid, a political match to a man she did not know well at all."

None of the MacLeods have directly commented on the matter as the news breaks on the continent. Countess Mary is in the Azraq Empire, and her brother William MacLeod remains on family business in Port Stanley.

Army Council chairman Colonel Stephen MacAllister MacGarry has said that while the Gunnish Army looks to partner with Eiffelloretalian military industry to produce a new main battle tank in Gunnland, he was open to talks with other nations as well.

We hope that we are not too late. We are very much interested in helping out the Gunnish government with its plans to extend the Gunnish armed forces. We are also interested in designing a new main battle tank together with the Gunnish industry.

The Azraqi Empire finds the hunger for lurid gossip about the intimate lives of nobles in Gallo-Germania and beyond to be most distasteful. While the governments of Azraq do not comment on private matters pertaining to the Imperial families, we do hope that the faith and race of a potential Azraqi emperor would not be a barrier to marriage of a Gunnish noblewoman.

WILLIAM MacLEOD NAMED CHIEF AMID BIGAMY SCANDAL
New Chief Is Reportedly Hunting With the Gunn in Port Stanley

AYR. Countess Mary unexpectedly named her younger brother William the chief of Clan MacLeod, while retaining all family titles. She is embroiled in an international national bigamy scandal originally broken by the Eiffellandian tabloid Schau! The news was announced by the Comital Palace this morning.

The move increased speculation that the countess plans to marry the Azraqi nobleman Dalmar Filsan Tahiil, whether or not she is granted an annulment by the Church of her marriage to former leader James Buchanan Blackthorn. By canon law this is an irregularity in which a person is married to two people. If she marries again, she could be brought before an ecclesiastical court if she returned to Gunnland. By passing the duties of chief to her brother, Countess Mary would not have to return to the kingdom.

The new chief, William MacLeod, is a 24-year-old Marian University student who will return to Ayr to be a derivatives trader for J.P. MacMorgan. He has the reputation for being a soft-spoken and private young man.

He could not be reached because he is reportedly on a hunting trip in Port Stanley with Robert Gunn. There is some speculation that the Gunn helped broker the deal. The MacLeods are not traditionally allies of the Gunns, but Queen Julian raised the clan to armigerous status after a decades-long ban, and Countess Mary helped to secure her election as queen.

ROBERT GUNN IS DEAD

Bowerman Government Promises Investigation
FILABUSI, Loago. Robert Gunn was discovered dead in this small city in north-western Loago, apparently as a casualty in an ongoing Loagan Civil War. Initial reports from Port Stanley say that he was killed by Natalian airstrikes against the Rwenbezi Light Infantry. Leader William mD. Bowerman has said the Gunnish government will contact Loago and conduct "a full independent investigation."

It is not clear why the Gunn was in Filabusi at the time of the fighting. Leader Bowerman has summoned the ambassadors from the Natal, Loago, and Port Stanley to take statements on the distant conflict, and to ask for their cooperation in an investigation.

Every untimely death of a Gunn chief in Gunnish history has been attended by a violent spasm of clan war. Ambrose Cameron, James Buchanan, and Iain MacDougall met Queen Julian at Dunrobin Castle in order to discuss how to maintain order in the process of electing a new Gunn chief, and to present a united front against rival clans. The nation hopes that 2019 will be different. Gunnland has a young and assertive Gunn queen, and, except for Clan Keith, the Gunns' traditional rivals are either themselves experiencing transitions of power (MacLeod), have relatively new pro-Gunn chiefs (MacLeish), or have important pro-Gunn septs that have balanced the power of their chiefs (MacAllister).

Mr. Gunn, was the chief of Clan Gunn for three years, and thus bore the title Duke of Clyth. The Gunn entered politics as a young professor at the Marian University, and quickly gained the reputation as a well-placed deal-maker between an older, pragmatic generation of Integrity Party politicians (such as his father-in-law, former Leader James G. Gallagher), and younger more ambitious conservatives. Mr. Gunn was widely praised for steering Gunnland through a tumultuous interregnum in the aftermath of the 2015 plane crash that killed King Josias and Queen Deoiridh, before Queen Julian's coronation in 2017.

In a formal statement from the Stone Chair mourning the passing of the Gunn, Her Majesty said that "her chief" was also "her most important mentor and friend."

The death of Robert Gunn is grievous news indeed. Elben mourns with its neighbor Gunnland the death of an illustrious statesman who did so much to guide his country through tumultuous times. Requiem Masses will be said immediately for the repose of his soul. May he rest in peace.

The foreign ministry of Elben shall reach out to its contacts in Loago, including those Elbeners who continue to serve in that country's security forces, to learn what it can of the circumstances of this tragic event. If any information should be gained, it will be passed on to Gunnland in aid of its investigations.

We largely blame the late Mr. Gunn & his machinations for the recent betrayal of the Kingdom of Gunnland we had thought a good friend. We welcome evidence to the contrary.

Therefore we cannot say his death is tragic, RIP, etc. We will however continue to call for unity in the fight against Communist agitators in Loago. Viva Justosia

The Azraqi Empire will always mourn the loss of any great statesman and so to hear of the passing of Chief Robert Gunn is a sad moment for Azraq. The nature of his death is even more tragic, as the possibility of Port Stanleyan soldiers being killed by a Natalian airstrike risks escalating the already dangerous Loagan Civil War at a time we are trying to work out peace in the Imperial capital Jugol. We welcome plans for an independent investigation and are willing to assist in any way possible.

STATE FUNERAL FOR THE GUNN SET FOR TUESDAY
Queen Expected to Influence Tomorrow's Chief Selection

WINDHAVEN. Robert Gunn's body lies in state at the Freehold for three days, a rare honor, before Archbishop Woodstone says his funeral Mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew on Tuesday.

Clan Gunn will elect its new chief on Monday, one of the eight thegns that elect the kings and queens of Gunnland. Queen Julian is likely to play a decisive role in the selection process, perhaps even assuming the chieftanship herself. Other leading candidates from the nobility are Prince Joachas, William Gunn Wilson the Earl of Tayr, and his son Colonel James Gunn Wilson.

The clan may also elect a commoner, like the deceased chief, to take the name "Gunn" and the clan's ducal title. Leading candidates might be the Gunn's father-in-law, former Leader James Gunn Gallagher, the foreign secretary Stephen Gunn Larkin, and the crown's attorney Dionysius Gunn MacHugh.

It is technically possible, though very unlikely, that the Gunns will elect a member of another clan to become the Gunn. In recent history, only members of the wee Clan Buchanan have been elected chiefs of other families. This happened most recently when Mark Buchanan Smith, a longtime shipping executive at Lloyd & MacLeish General Maritime Group, became Mark MacLeish upon inheriting the title of his friend Duncan MacLeish. However there is some outside possibility that the popular former Leader James Buchanan Blackthorn could garner some support to be elected the Gunns' chief.

JAMES GUNN GALLAGHER ELECTED GUNN CHIEF
Former Prime Minister Perceived As Responsible Choice
WINDHAVEN. The former Leader and foreign minister James "Jim" Gunn Gallagher, father-in-law to the deceased Robert Gunn, has been named James Gunn, the Gunn, Chief of Clan Gunn, Duke of Clyth, and a thegn of the realm. Madeleine MacDougall MacNicholls, spokeswoman for the Stone Chair, announced the news late yesterday evening.

James Gunn, né Gallagher, served as a longtime prime minister of Gunnland until his ouster in January 2018, shortly after Queen Julian took the throne. He stepped down when controversial secret treaty negotiations with Bourgogne became public information, causing a diplomatic riff with Kadikistan around the time of the Christmas Coup of 2017 in Crotobaltislavonia. An experienced diplomat, James Gunn is from an older and more pragmatic generation of Gunnish statesmen that is often contrasted to the ambitious policies and aggressive tactics of a younger generation, that once included his son-in-law, the late Gunn, and the hardline Smith Circle. Many compare his demeanor and conciliatory style to the present Leader William Buchanan Bowerman. It is unclear whether the Gunn will take a similar public role in leading the royal clan, or remain in the background as a figurehead chief while Queen Julian remains its public face.

James Gunn takes over Clan Gunn in a time when its allies, especially the MacDougall, have accused it of foreign adventurism. He is perceived as a solid and reliable choice concerned with domestic affairs. Clan Gunn has thus far been receptive and supportive of Prime Minister Iain Buchanan MacLean's social insurance reforms that integrate part of the clans' traditional responsibilities. This is not expected to change.

The suddenness of the chief transition means that, in a departure from tradition, James Gunn will not give the eulogy for his son-in-law. The Queen has selected the enquêteur, Padraig B. Smith, to do the honor. The choice of Mr. Smith was somewhat surprising, since he represents the hardline Smith Circle within the Integrity Party that more often than not supported the late Gunn's policies, but sometimes vocally criticized them. Other friends of the late Gunn were ruled out for political reasons: former Leader James B. Blackthorn by his wife's bigamy scandal, Colonel Stephen mA. MacGarry because the Army Council is worried about the optics of being too close to the Gunns and their allies, and crown's attorney Dionysius G. MacHugh was involved in the election of the chief.

There is some speculation that Mr. Smith intends to give a eulogy that explains the mystery surrounding the late Gunn's death in Loago, because he was with Robert Gunn when he died. Unfounded rumors reportedly circulate in the international press.

IN EULOGY FOR THE GUNN, SMITH BLASTS INT'L. PRESS
Enquêteur Sets Record Straight On Why Gunn Chief Was in Loago
WINDHAVEN. Robert Gunn was laid to rest yesterday as mourners lined the cobblestone streets of the capital. Edmund Woodstone, Archbishop of Windhaven, said the funeral Mass at St. Andrew's Cathedral. Queen Julian, Leader Bowerman, Prime Minister MacLean, and scores of leading figures from the Gunnish political, academic, and cultural spheres were present to remember the chief. Foreign dignitaries included the crown princess of Elben and Bourgogne and, in a sign of warming relations, the president of Serenierre. Padraig Buchanan Smith, MT, the kingdom's chief prosecutor or enquêteur, gave a eulogy that focused heavily upon the late Gunn's last days in Loago. Mr. Smith is known as a hardline leader in the Integrity Party. The Advocate has decided to reprint several important sections of this eulogy for the edification of our readers.

Beyond the pale of civilization, as we all know, the world is divided between two Satanic forces, the Freemasons and the communists. They are in constant war with one another because war pleases The Enemy. Where they have succeeded in erasing the memory of Christian Civilization, their infinite warfare continues. I am sorry to confirm that what we all know is true: the Enemy does today what he has always done. Spreads a thick web of lies.

Robert Gunn laid down his life for his friends. On that far dark continent, it is more obvious that communism is the devil's work. The child-soldiers and "Rhino" terrorist hirelings of a shamanic cannibal warlord kidnapped one of the Gunn's oldest friends, the Stanleyan education minister, and dragged her hostage into Loago. Robert and I went in search of her. We tracked the communist terrorists down and served justice.

No sooner than was Robert reunited with his old friend, then the Masonic forces launched an airstrike against the cities of the Mabwawa Coast. No matter that the Stanleyan forces there were fighting the same communist terrorists they were. No matter that the Stanleyan forces had agreed to a ceasefire and peace talks. But you do not look for honor among the servants of the Enemy.

What do we read of his death? That the Gunn was a "warlord." Calumny! My uncle, Ian Smith, long the leader of Port Stanley, may have considered himself a Gunnishman, but he was fiercely independent. Only in his hour of greatest need did he call on Gunnish aid, in 1979, and was refused. The Stanleyans do not suffer Gunnish interference in their affairs. Robert and I had nothing to do with the Bush War, or the Stanleyan military operations in that anarchic country of Loago.

But as we all know, the Engelsh-language media is controlled by the Freemasons, not only in the Thaumantic periphery but in most of Himyar as well, ever since the company men brought the dark craft to Camp Hill. They flaunt their circumpunct openly there; why they even call the newspaper The Himyari Sun. These renegade Freemasons are no more controlled by their old masters in Thaumantica than the communist child-eaters take orders from Ivar. Himyar is a place where these dark ideologies show their true, grotesque forms.

Robert Gunn was a statesman and a scholar of the highest rank, and a Christian gentleman of the first order. He lived a humble life in Port Stanley in his last days, raising our orphan prince, and assisting the peace process when asked. He lived there primarily because he thought it best to dispel the impression that he, rather than Her Majesty Queen Julian, was responsible for the day-to-day business of governing clan and country. Robert Gunn lived a life of humble service.

The Natal has still not apologized for the airstrike that killed Robert Gunn and many innocent civilians in Filabusi and Umtali, despite the ceasefire and Azraq-sponsored peace talks. Mr. Smith's eulogy inspired many Gunnish statesman to express interest in economic sanctions against the Natal, from embargoes of trade goods to freezing bank assets. After the funeral Mass, Foreign Secretary Stephen Gunn Larkin told reporters that the Foreign Office would explore the possibility of diplomatic sanctions after consulting Gunnland's close allies and also the Empire of Azraq. "We do not wish to interfere in the peace process in Jugol," Mr. Larkin said, "But there will be serious consequences for the Maseru regime and the Natal if they do not take responsibility for the war crimes that resulted in the death of Mr. Gunn and so many others. It is not in our nature to forget such things."

THING TO DEBATE GLADSTONE-PAPE "EMPIRE BILL"
Proposal Further Integrates Gunnland-Elben Military Alliance
WINDHAVEN. Théophile Gladstone-Pape, MT-Integrity, has scheduled debate in the Thing of All Gunnishmen for a controversial new bill that would extend a treaty framework to formally reëstablish the Holy Tiburan Empire in Gunnland, Elben, and Bourgogne. The proposal would abolish the Army Council and the Foreign Office, and centralize the military hierarchy and foreign policy bureaus of the three countries in Chagny.

The "Empire Bill" has already divided the party. Crown's attorney Dionysius G. MacHugh, MT-Integrity called it "an affront to Gunnish independence." However, supporters point out that the bill preserves Gunnland's unique legal system and judiciary, and maintains the Thing as the only body that can raise taxes and make laws in Gunnland. Mr. Gladstone-Pape describes it as a "further integration of the Gunnland-Elben alliance."

But Empire is more than that, it is a symbolic gesture that evokes the time 800 years ago when the Holy Tiburan Empire spread over much of Gallo-Germania. Critics point out that the seven imperial electors recognized by the bill -- the archbishops of Windhaven, Eschenbach, and Chagny, plus the rulers of Bourgogne, Elben, Gunnland, and Lower Marpesia -- would likely make Karl Maria VIII, and not Queen Julian, the emperor.

But Mr. Gladstone-Pape, a Francophone marpesienne himself, insists that Gunnland is already a multinational Christian kingdom which will play a leading role in any new empire. "The historic Imperial Diet had a lower house, a Council of Cities that ensured popular representation," Mr. Gladstone-Pape pointed out, "and the present-day peoples of Gunnland would comprise the majority in a new Empire, even with Charles-Marie on the throne."

"Gunnland has always seen itself not as a self-interested and minor northern kingdom," Mr. Gladstone-Pape added, "but a people who have made historic sacrifices for the defense of Christian civilization, and who are marked first and foremost by their loyalty to Christ the King."

THING VOTES 17-5 TO EXTEND DEBATE ON "EMPIRE" BILL
Blackthorn Returns to Thing, Surprised Only Four Other "Yeas"
WINDHAVEN. The Thing of All Gunnishmen voted 17-5 to extend debate on the so-called "Empire Bill," in a setback to the anti-imperial faction. Leader Bowerman and Prime Minister MacLean abstained. Mr. MacLean is believed to oppose the bill, but Queen Julian has recused herself and trusts the wisdom of the Thing on the question.

The opposition to a multinational "Holy Tiburan Empire" was buoyed by the return of former Leader James B. Blackthorn to the Thing. Dr. Blackthorn easily won a quiet Windhaven by-election after Oritsematosan Udomo, MT-Windhaven, ended her brief Gunnish political career and elected to return home to the Commonwealth of Port Stanley. But Dr. Blackthorn's support was not enough to persuade his Integrity Party to snuff the bill. He called the bill a "threat to Gunnish independence" and a "foolish stunt at a time Gunnish regional influence is at a historic high point."

One surprise was that the Army Council was divided on the bill, rather than unanimously opposed to being folded into a joint trinational command headquartered in Chagny. Colonel Stephen mA. MacGarry said the bill was "worth exploring" because of present recruiting difficulties regarding non-Gunn clans. Colonel James G. Wilson voted to dismiss the bill.

Another surprise was that the Church did not unanimously favor the restoration of empire. Bishop Justin Broithe, the prelate of Ayr, voted to dismiss the bill, but declined to comment why.

The bill may be viable because the Liberal Party hopes it can be amended. Party leader Douglas MacLeish, MT-Dalmyre, has said six liberal votes could support the bill if it were amended so that the National Guard, the Gunnish gendarmarie under the auspices of the Army Council, becomes an imperial-level gendarmarie. The Liberals have long complained that the National Guard is too political and too closely enmeshed with the Integrity Party. These six votes could be decisive.

AMENDMENT TO "EMPIRE BILL II" DIVIDES THING
But Imperialists Encouraged by HM Karl Maria's Radio Address
WINDHAVEN. Support for a treaty proposing a trinational Holy Tiburan Empire in the Thing of All Gunnishmen hinges on support from a coterie of MTs that are hopeful it can represent judicial reforms. "It is virtually impossible to amend the Book of Gunni," Enquêteur Padraig B. Smith (MT-Inn) explains, "so this treaty is a rare chance to rationalize our legal system beyond the reforms Leader Bowerman has introduced."

Liberal Party leader Douglas MacLeish (MT-Dalmyre) and original Integrity Party sponsor Théophile Gladstone-Pape (MT-University) released a new version of the bill, dubbed "Empire Bill II," that would introduce limited imperial police powers over customs enforcement and intra-imperial commerce, as well as imperial courts with jurisdiction over intra-imperial commerce. The Gunnish gendarmarie, the National Guard, would be folded into an imperial force in addition to the regular Gunnish military forces.

A number of Integrity Party MTs have joined former Leader James B. Blackthorn in expressing concern. "This bill does much more than augment our alliance with the Kingdom of Elben," Blackthorn argued on KGB-1, "it creates a confederal superstate that will erode Gunnish sovereignty." Some Liberal Party MTs worry that the judicial power of the Church, which already has its own courts in Gunnland, will be empowered even further. "Empire-wide ecclesiastic courts?" Liberal member John K. Skylaw (MT-University) quipped, "Are we going to be ruled by Chagny or Tibur now?"

But the Inn of Advocates has joined with their Liberal critics to support the augmented Empire bill, releasing a statement signed jointly by Mr. Smith and Justiciar Philippe Demai (MT-Inn), in support of the legal reforms. The statement defends the merits of the bill for law enforcement in an increasingly interconnected North, and argues that Gunnish sovereignty is fully respected. "An imperial court system would have no judicial review power over Gunnish law," it reads in part, "and will not serve as appellate courts."

PEACE DEMONSTRATION MARCHES AGAINST EMPIRE
Anti-Imperial Radicals Chant: "No War for House of Eschenbach"
WINDHAVEN. A public demonstration, a rare sight in Windhaven, took place yesterday against the "Empire Bill," which goes before the Thing of All Gunnishmen for an up-or-down final vote tomorrow. About 10,000 people, many of them Marian University students, took part in the mostly peaceful march, which disrupted traffic on the Avenue of Alexander Rex. The March for Peace was less than half the size of the January protests against former Leader James B. Blackthorn's proposal to postpone national elections.

The student organizers of the March for Peace argued that the anti-imperial faction in the Thing, now led by Dr. Blackthorn (MT-Windhaven), is naïve about what they say are the real threats that empire poses to Gunnish lives and fortunes. They warn that the unstable situation in the former Bourgogne between three successor states in Chagny, Ouistreham, and Pillau is a "powder keg." The protestors chanted and waved placards vigorously denouncing Gunnish involvement in the House of Eschenbach's attempts to rule over Bourgogne.

The only member of the Thing to address the March for Peace was the unconventional liberal John K. Skylaw (MT-Marian), who promised to make a speech on the Bourgogne on Monday before the Thing vote. Dr. Blackthorn, however, said that the marchers and Prof. Skylaw do not speak for the majority of the anti-imperial movement. "It's a shame to see Gunnish young people acting like southerners," he said on KGB-1, in a televised debate on the Imperial Question against Hadrian Molyneux (MT-Marian).

"Blocking traffic, shouting conspiracy theories," Dr. Blackthorn continued, "Instead of this 'War for Eschenbach' tosh, they should go home and write Her Royal Highness the Princess Mireille personal apologies and congratulate the royal couple on the birth of their child." He went on to praise the auld alliance with Elben, emphasizing the word alliance.
