Caledonians vote for the Restoration of the Monarchy

The voting day has finally come and the Caledonians have come to the ballot to cast their vote in regards to the newly called second referendum for the form of government. The vote came after a meeting between Toiseach Lucas Ros and the leaders of Clans Blacach, Sutharlainn and Loganach in which the clans declared that they will recognise the Republic only after another referendum is organised, as the first one has been called rushed by mild critics, going as far as a "legal coup d'etat fuelled and legitimised by manipulation and despair" by more acid critics. Toiseach Lucas Ros was also pressured into accepting the second referendum after the dissidents from the Far North, still militating for the restoration of the National Union government and the liberation of Saig Madec has attacked patrols of the constabulary and terrorised the population, going as far as even pushing the authorities away from isolated villages and taking over the duties of the constables.

In the second referendum, the voters had to choose between three option, the first one being the keeping of the republic, the second one the return to the hereditary monarchy and the third one, a compromise option championed by Robert Blacach, representing an elective monarchy. The first option would keep the 2018 constitution, the second one would return to the 1985 constitution while the third, returned to the 1985 constitution but brought a few amendments to it. First, the title of Tanist, the heir to the throne was to disappear, as per the new elective customs, after the death or abdication of the king, a commission of the parliament, together with representatives of the church and the royal clans would elect a new king from the Rígdomna, people having a "royal bone", meaning to come from one of Caledonia's royal clans or from the Gunnish clans of Gunn and MacLeish. To respect the local autonomies, the amended constitution recognises the authority of the devolved councils, but it renames them for what the Constitutional Commission called "a more local and inclusive name". Thus, the Jewish Republic is to be renamed into the Mormaerdom of Baile Steaphan, the Far Northern Republic into the Mormaerdom of Votadinia, the Ivernish Republic into the Mormaerdom of Farrais etc.

The results from the Electoral Bureau has been published this evening and are the following:

  • 49,8% for the Elective Monarchy (Amended 1985 Constitution);
  • 29,7% for the Republic (2018 Constitution);
  • 17,2% for the Hereditary Monarchy (Original 1985 Constitution);
The result isn't such a great shock after the Blacach, Sutharlainn and Loganach Clans declared to be supporting the Elective Monarchy, while Clan Munn supported the Hereditary Monarchy. Recent statistics also have shown that in the light of the recent events (the National Union coup and the Snowdrop Revolution), Caledonians have much more faith in traditional institutions like the Clans and the Church rather than the more modern ones like the state itself. Thus, for the people competing in this referendum, winning it depended on the support the Clans gave, so even if in the front, the campaign presented itself as a civilised democratic process, in the back room, it was a race to win the support of the clan chiefs.

With this victory, the third republic has been declared defunct and the High Kingdom of Caledonia has been reestablished. As part of the compromise deal, Mael Coluim V is to return to continue his reign, with the parliament electing his successor in the aftermath of his death or abdication. In the periods of vacancy of the throne, before an election, a Regent will be nominated from one of the clan chiefs by the Toiseach to act as an interim head of state. The new title of Mael Coluim will be "H.R.H, Mael Coluim V, High King of Caledonia, of the Gall-Ghàidheil and of the North by the grace of God and the will of the people, Mormaer of Dun Eidyn and Grand Master of the Order of Saint Piran".

The referendum also brought forward a political crisis, as the National Prometheist Union has been split between those accepting the compromise, led by Lucas Ros and those supporting the compromise, while many upper members of the NPU, especially the members of the Aonach have left the party, forming the Radical Prometheist Party (RPP), not accepting the compromise. The split was an extreme problem to the NPU presence in the Aonach as its dominance of the Aonach was shattered, with many members going to the RPP and some moving to the Country Party and the National Democratic Party. This left the NPU with an extremely small number of MAs (Members of the Aonach). Lucas Ros has already announced during the campaign that he will resign if the republican cause won't wing in the referendum, to avoid further political crises and by now, a coalition of the Country Party and of the National Democratic Party, will be nominating Olibhia MacAnndra as the new Toiseach of Caledonia. A spokesperson from the royal family has stated that High King Mael Coluim has requested no formal ceremony to be organised, as he already had a coronation five years ago, when he succeeded his father, King Mael Coluim IV.

"As Caledonia has returned to its natural form and status, I am glad to announce that the crisis which we have started calling "the Caledonian Spring" has finally ended. We have managed to survive a coup, a revolution and to avoid a civil war, while keeping this country together. I declare that we, the whole people living in Caledonia are victorious. To keep this country stable in the future while still continuing the tradition of the compromise and amnesty, I will propose to the Aonach a bill to declare that the period between today and the Snowdrop Revolution simply didn't happen and amnesty to be given to those which have violated the statute and sovereignty of Caledonia. But to be sure that there will be no internal enemies, the Office of the Justiciar will begin a legal purge of those involved in the coup organised by the National Union. Targeted will the Saig Madec, the chairman of the National Union, which is under custody and the members of the blueshirts which have been accused of high treason, violating the sovereignty of Caledonia and of crimes against humanity, when they tried to suppress the pro-democracy demonstrations on Heroes' Square in Dun Eidyn in February. As for the dissidents in the north, those which have surrendered or left the movement during the compromise or the ceasefire will be acquitted, but those which have violated it, like in the episode in Dun Add, will be accused of high treason and attempted murder," stated Olibhia MacAnndra, giving a speech in an extraordinary meeting of the Aonach this evening.

We congratulate the people of Caledonia with this second referendum. We think we should consider this result the will of the people. We also congratulate Mrs. MacAnndra with becoming the new Toiseach of Caledonia. Of course we recognise King Mael Coluim V as the new Head of State of Caledonia, and of course we recognise the elective monarchy as the legitimate government of Caledonia.

Headlines and Short News

Toiseach promises pro-business policies and respect for the NSQT: In a speech held in the Aonach, The Right Honorable Olibhia MacAnndra, Toiseach of Caledonia has promised to resume the pro-business policies which she has started during her first tenure as Toiseach in 2004. She stated that the nationalisations promised Lucas Ros won't take place and that the economy must stabilise and the Buinn to recover. "Caledonia is open for business as it was from 1985 to early 2018," stated MacAnndra. The Ministry of Trade has announced that soon the Office of Investments and Franchises will be launched to bring together all the investment opportunities in Caledonia.

Military Parade in Dun Eidyn: As a celebration for the restoration, the Ministry of Defence organised a military parade in Dun Eidyn. The parade came after an official renaming of the armed forces ceremony, from the Republican Army back to the old and typical Catholic and Royal Army, which was presided over by the Minister of Defence, the Right Honorable Grace O'Malley. HRH Mael Coluim V has also participated at the ceremony. At the end of it, the Minister of Defence has stated that the Gallóglaigh (Foreign Warriors) Division will be restored after it was disbanded in 1990.

The beginning of the Legal Purge: The Honorable Áed MacGaradh, the Chairman of the Commission of Justiciary and Head Justiciar of Caledonia, has officially began the trial of the Legal Purges by accusing Saig Madec of high treason, plotting against the state and sovereignty of Caledonia and organised crime and crimes against humanity for the way in which he took control of the state by organising a coup with the March on Dun Eidyn, and for the attempted suppression of the Snowdrop Revolution using a personal army, the blue shirts. The Commission of Justiciary also issued arrest warrants for 65 members of the Blue Shirts and 37 members of the National Union.

The week Caledonian Dramas took over television: The Caledonian Radio-Television Corporation has has an important tradition in TV dramas which has started in the late 1960s with the Bluewater series, which have acquired a cult status in Oriental Scania, with the following series appearing until 1985 being usually called Bluewater ripoffs. The renaissance of the Caledonian filmography has started with the fall of the National Syndicalist Regime, with the post-'90 producers, being part of the "Celtic New Wave" have concentrated more on TV series rather than movies and have brought in prime time many subjects and issues which have been seen as taboo by the old regime. The winter of 2017-2018 has managed to bring a new and refreshing wave of critically acclaimed series, starting with the animated drama Sepakov, telling the stories of the decade of war in the 50s through the image of a Kadikistani commander of a volunteer unit which saw action in Milesia, Calidia, Caledonia and Borovanger. The producers said that they are concentrating less on the whole idea of the war, to not offend viewers from participating countries, but revolve more on the personal sacrifices many of the soldiers make just to see in the end the world they believe in to be shattered by the arrival of the New Order in Kadikistan. The producers have stated that even if the series is centred on the main character, Sepakov, the scrips is made so that one can easily create a bond with the main character, as Caledonians too have seen the world they fought for shattered when the National-Syndicalism took control. Sepakov had its premiere last week. Afterwards there is Mairi, a comedy drama centred around an unorthodox Gaidhlig and History teacher from Dun Glas. The story of the show is said in a frame narrative, as we can see elements from Mairi's growing up years during the dictatorship which has formed her the woman she is today. The second season of Mairi is to start airing on RTC1 this weekend. Then there is also The Blue and Blacks a police drama set in Dun Eidyn, named after the colours of the uniform of the constabulary. The series follows the anti-drug unit of the Royal Constabulary in their trials and tribulations to stop the flow of high risk drugs into Caledonia. The series 5th season has its premiere this Friday. The last but not least is a new series made especially for Kadikistani audiences named Tovarich Square 20. The series presents the daily lives of three families living in Ivar, one being a Caledonian family with connections to Clan Crannach and the Party of the Left, another a Kadikistani family and a third, a Pelasgian family whose members are working in the M-List Internationale. The series is a soap opera presenting the lives and the issues arising in the capital of Kadikistan. It will premiere this Sunday on RTC3.

Weather: Rainfalls are expected in Dun Garan, Dun Tain and Dun Glas, with the rest of the country being covered in clouds. Temperatures will reach 18 degrees in Dun Eidyn, Farrais and Baile Steaphan and 12 in Dun Glas tomorrow. It currently snows in Dun Duath.

Headlines and Short News

Naval Exercises in the Gothic Sea: The Catholic and Royal Navy is beginning its yearly Nordic Thunder Naval Exercises in the Gothic Sea. Under the command of Admiral Grace O'Malley, the 1st Auxiliary Fleet will participate, together with the LHD Nechtain II. The Revolutionary Navy of Kadikistan has been invited to participate in Nordic Thunder 2018 and Admiral Danilov Salatic and the Battlecruiser Andrej Rurik have accepted the invitation. It isn't the first time foreign navies are invited in the exercises, but it has been extremely rare for Kadikistan to participate, as it has only did so only two times in history, once in 1957 and again in 1986.

Justiciar accuses Seathan MacRath: The Horoable Áed MacGaradh, Head Justiciar of Caledonia and head of the Legal Purge Commission has issued a warrant of arrest on the name of Seathan MacRath. The northern dissidents, or how they called themselves 'The White Army', have attacked during the spring a series of patrols of the Royal Constabulary and went as far as to attack an outpost of the army. Their actions resulted in the deaths of 15 men and women. While the ceasefire and the armistice has given many members of the organisation an amnesty, thus many choosing to surrender and thus nearly disband the group, a few, led by Seathan MacRath have continued their hostilities. Áed MacGaradh has concluded that the clash in Dun Add between the authorities and the rebels are the consequences of Seathan MacRath not respecting the terms of the ceasefire and thus violating the compromise accords. An arrest warrant has been issued on his name.

Statute of Maseru voted in the Aonach: In a bid to give further independence to Loago and to keep the relations between Maseru and Dun Eidyn friendly, the Aonach has finally mobilised to vote the Statute of Maseru. The bill, which was first proposed in 1990 and has since been continuously pushed forward and delayed proposed the propping of Maseru to "Imperial Capital", giving it the same status Dun Eidyn has. In terms closer to the real situation, the bill recognises the full independence of Loago from Caledonia, while still keeping the Commonwealth of Loago in the Viridian Union, a free trade and free travel zone which is seen as a successor of the old Caledonian Colonial Empire. The Caledonian Hmyari Company still holds immeasurable influence in the country, while the Loagan establishment, be it from Maseru and Dun Eidyn still prefer to have the two countries bounded together. There hasn't been said anything of a potential Statute of Ajdir, though Cabaon has a completely different situation.

Servicing Loago and Cabaon since 1901 - News. Culture. Sport. Lifestyle - 1 Buinn - 3 An t-Ògmhios 2018
Loago: Witchcraft and Witch-doctors to be banned

The Tribunal of Maseru, led by the Right Honorable Duta Sanneh, the Justiciar of Loago, has decreed that witchcraft and witch-doctors are to be banned and their practice should the punished with around 5 to 10 years of prison for practitioners and with a fee going to 5 years in prison for people searching for their services. The new ruling comes after a witch doctor from Makuti, in the Fante lands has killed an albino child and boiled his corpse, stating that the potion would make someone invincible and immortal.

While many from coastal Loago and from Caledonia have hailed the new decree as a step towards progress and an end to a bloody and barbaric custom, there are many who have called it discriminatory towards the Fante people. In its current form, the decree also bans divination, which an extremely important element of the Fante traditional faiths. This ban might have an extreme effect on the Fante religion, which is an extremely localised and diverse form of ancestor worship.

"They cannot do that. If they do it, they have literally just killed the whole Fante spirituality. If Maseru is to be completely correct, this law should ban Christianity too, as a prayer, baptism and the Eucharist are divinations too. No, this is just the way of the Wala to turn on the Fante after they received power from the retreat of the Caledonians and they have disguised a racist and discriminatory law as a law fighting for progress," stated the Right Honorable Mauya Mutasa, the head of the Fante caucus in the Chamber of Tribal Chiefs of the Loagan parliament.

Cabaon: Status of Ajdir requested by Sheikh. Denier by Assembly

After the Aonarch of Caledonia has voted and signed the Status of Maseru, thus making Loago an "equal brother of Caledonia", Sheikh Fela Kazi has stated in the Tribal Assembly that the Status of Ajdir is long overdue and that the Union should receive its full independence from Caledonia. Sheikh Kazi is one of the most prominent Cabaonian leaders, but his stance on full independence has destroyed much of his prestige and in the last years have turned him more into a caricature than the freedom fighter he presents himself.

Before proceeding with the vote regarding the request of the status, the Lord Protector of Cabaon, the Right Honorable Horas Loganach has presented a series of documents from the Foreign Aid Office, a sub-unit of the Caledonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in which it shows the dependence of Cabaon on Caledonian aid programs. The recent documents have shown that around 60% of the income of the Union of Cabaon is coming from Caledonian Aid. Thus, concluded the Lord Protector, should the Cabaonians want to keep their current level of human development, they need to keep their current status of an Overseas department of Caledonia, to enjoy the current aid and welfare programs.

The Union of Cabaon, which houses around 2 million people, has been gravely hit after the iron mines of Belesasa and Calama were shut down. Many of the people, either returned to their century old traditions and lifestyles, namely the Uroduah bedouins, which returned to their nomadic lives, while others, especially Yujiner and Kashtanese emigrants preferred to return to their homelands.

The Tribal Assembly has voted 18 to 1 to reject the request of the Status of Ajdir, as that would cause immense economical problems for Cabaon, as the Caledonian aid would be reduced.

OTHER NEWS
Loago: Prime Minister Gordon Muzorewa has shocked today the parliament and the conservative establishment of Loago after he asked the Tribal Chiefs Chambers of the Parliament to appoint him as Mweneluaga. The title Mweneluaga was used by the pre-Caledonian Emperors of Loago of Wala origins. The title was first used by Caledonians kings, which in the end ditched it for the more northern and Christian Emperor. The Prime Minister has stated that he doesn't wish to use the title in its old, royal way, but to become an equivalent of Prime Minister or President in the new, modern republic while also creating bonds with the past.

We think it would be better if the ban on witchcraft only applies to the situations in which human lives are endangered. A ban on witchcraft used for medical purposes is definitely justified, but making a complete religion impossible to celebrate goes too far.

The problems with post Status Loago
Opinion article by Daba Camara

As a third generation Loagan living in Caledonia I might say that I would offer an objective point of view regarding the problems of Loago and I can offer a sincere criticism, as my Wala tribal and cultural allegiances are so much faded. For starters, I can only say that the Post Status Loago will fail and will fail soon and quickly and bloody.

The presence of the Caledonians in the inner circles of power during the days of the Empire have been a balancing factor more than anything. They have managed to stop the inter-ethnic conflict which stemmed from the Fante-Wala rivalry and religious differences mostly by offering equal representation (even if the Wala are outnumbering the Fante at a ration of 4:1) and by taking the most influential and powerful positions for themselves. It wasn't a perfect system. No, it was an ill-organised and inhumane colonial system, but the Caledonians offered incentives for this disproportionate organisation: They opened Caledonia for Loagan students and for workers, while the Caledonian Himyari Company has offered a paternalistic approach of social protection for their workers. This has made it clear for a long time that the Wala and Fante, should they want a free Loago, they have to work together, while the Caledonian policies have been perfect in regards to strategy, as an excellent example of Divide and Conquer as they haven't supported one ethnic group or tribe over the other, rather, they have supported some members of one tribe, while exploiting some members of the same tribe. This way no real opposition could have been organised, without it turning against itself.

Today, Loago stands divided still. The dissolution of the Empire and the bringing about of the Commonwealth has meant that the strong influence of the Caledonians has disappeared and now, the Fante and the Wala are ready to attack the dying corpse of the Empire to try to take control of it. The Walas naturally try to see Loago as their own nation state. It is logical. They are its creators, they are the biggest population in it, but they are too imperialistic about it. They still want to keep it only for themselves either by assimilating or by trying to make the others move out of it. They don't have the courage to attack the Caledonians, Gunns or Engels, but they are attacking the Wala. They did this in 1950 when Loago was given home rule for the first time, and it ended up in a civil war. It seems that many haven't learned their ways and now, with the banning of divination, we are seeing the same discrimination emanating from the Wala dominated corridors of power in Maseru.

As much as it has been seen as a united nation, Loago is deeply divided. The majority of the population are living in the more Kalahari climate regions like the Limestone Coast, where Maseru is, and the Wala are dominating and overcrowding the bushes of the north, with the central and southern regions are more barren and are inhabited by the Fante, which can offer but an extremely thin population density over much of the country. Economical and infrastructure problems can be seen too. There no modern hospital south of Nyianga, there are no railway links between the north and the south and the only roads which are passing the "Barren Belt" (a band of extremely desolate wasteland between Nyianga and Filabusi) are the strip roads that were built in the late 50s, when the economical crisis his Caledonia and its colonies following the Cold War with Kadikistan. Those roads, having only two narrow strips of asphalt, where the wheels should go can't stand double lane traffic, let alone trucks and other forms of intensive road transportation. During the Empire days, the Caledonian Himyari Company has invested in infrastructure in the south and built railways linking Chipinge, Chimoio, Makuti and Que Que to Bulawayo, but in the end, they decided than it would be easier to link those to the Ivernish Himyari Commonwealth and to the ports from Argatir and Chosta an tSolais, rather than the Limestone Coast. So we can say that the south is economically closer and more dependant on the Ivernish Himyaris than on Maseru itself to offer a lifeline to the seas.

I am not saying this to attack Maseru and the government of Loago. I am saying this because I love that country. Loago has advanced much since the days in which the Empire has been proclaimed and the Fantelands have become the epicentre of a booming tourism industry gravitating around safaris and animal husbandry. Even Clan Blacach seems to be in love with those lands, as Prince Tadgh has moved to the Anesu Creek Station and has even married a Fante woman. I want Loago to stay united and to continue to develop, but to do this, Maseru and the Walas need to see the Fantes not as subjects, but as partners and sadly they are going currently in the wrong way. If they continue, things might radicalise and we might all start to regret it.

OTHER NEWS
Loagans protest in Dun Eidyn: Both ethnic Wala and Fante Loagans have organised a protest in front of the embassy of the Commonwealth of Loago and the ruling of the Justicar of Loago to ban witchcraft, which would legally ban the practising of the Fante traditional religions.
The first hearing of Saig Madec: The first hearing in the Legal Purges in regards to the trial of Saig Madec has taken place today in the Tribunal of Dun Eidyn. Saig Madec defended his actions during the February Crisis declaring that he had to act to defend the Caledonian nation against foreign conspiracies.

Coalition centralises under a new party

The coalition in power, made of the Country Party, the National Democratic Party, the Caledonian Integralist Party and the Caledonian Monarchist League, led by the Chairwoman of the Country Party, Olibhia MacAnndra and the leader of the NDP, Coll MacFhilib, has decided to organise itself under a new centralised party which will be known as the Civic.

The new Party will be headed by Olibhia MacAnndra and its vice-chairman will be Coll MacFhilib. The Front will be big tent party, espousing the ideologies of its member factions, going form centre to right-wing. The main tenets of the party are christian democracy, federalism, agrarianism and an extremely mild form of corporatism. The government states that it will defend and promote small businesses, while industries of strategic importance will be kept together in corporations. The new party will defend the Caledonian democracy while also respecting the Caledonian culture and its bond with the Catholic Church. All in all, the Party's constitution calls this set of values and ideologies, Civism.

The main opposition parties, the National Prometheist Union and the Party of the Left have been largely quiet on the fusion, but the Radical Prometheist Party, the second largest party in the Aonach after the pre-NCF Country Party, which boycotts the High Kingdom by an absenteeism policy has condemned the creation of the Civic Union stating that with this, the country has returned in 1957 and that the dictatorship might be proclaimed in a fortnight the most.

When asked about her opinion on the comments of the Radical Prometheists, the Right Honorable Olibhia MacAnndra. Toiseach of Caledonia stated: "It is rubbish. The simple idea of calling us continuators of the National Syndicalist Regime is preposterous and outright offensive. No, the Civic Union simply brings together the parties which understand the Caledonian way of life. We respect and promote everything that Caledonia has stood for since its inception, more than a millennia ago. We respect Catholicism and the Pope, we respect the social teachings of the Church. We respect the democratic tradition of the Caledonians. The Aonach was created around three centuries ago, but before that the Thing of the Gall-Goidels has dominated the political scene and it was in certain moments even more prominent than local kings. We are Civic Nationalists, for we defend everything Caledonia stands for, from its faith, to its democracy, to its social state, to its armed forces and even to its historical civilising mission, as now, the Loagans and the Cabaonians are being accepted in Caledonia and are being seen as brothers of ours. This ideology, which we have finally named has existed for nearly 200 years, since the Country Party was founded and if offered us prosperity and peace. What has Prometheism offered us? Economical stagnation, inflation, collapse, political isolation, open wars with neighbouring countries like their intervention in Milesia and even a civil war in 1957. And now, while they are mocking the vote of the Caledonians in the referendum by not respecting the authority of the Aonach, they have the nerve to come to condemn us, calling us Neo-National Syndicalists. It is laughable."

OTHER NEWS
Loago: Hamish Muzorewa has decided to back down, thus ending the Divination Crisis. The newly amended decree specifically states banns the which doctor practices, but no longer banns divination as part of the Fante traditional faiths. The National Front of Loago has decided to also call together representatives of the Fante, Wala and White communities to Maseru to meet and discuss a potential reorganisation of the country to offer it a modern constitution. From 1955 to 1957, Loago was an overseas part of Caledonia and from then it was granted a Charter which named the Imperial Regime. When the February Crisis ensued this year in Caledonia, the Loagans have dismantled the Empire and disbanded the office of Lord Protector, which represents the local power of the Monarch, while still not fully adopting a constitution. Now, with the Status of Maseru signed by the Aonach, Maseru has been given the right to fully adopt a constitution.

We commend the Government of Loago with its decision to modify the ban on Divination into a ban on the witch doctor practices. This is an important step towards normalising the relations between the populations in Loago.

Saig Madec condemned to life imprisonment
Dun Eidyn Naidheachdan

The Justiciar of Caledonia, the Honorable Áed MacGaradh has pronounced the verdict in the trial of Saig Madec. The leader of the National Union has been found guilty in 5 instances of high treason, the most important being the use of the March on Dun Eidyn as an instrument to organise a coup d'etat against the Country Party government, led by Olibhia MacAnndra. Another extremely important accusation in which he was found guilty was the crimes against humanity for which he was accused after he used the Blueshirts to suppress a demonstration in the Heroes' Square in Dun Eidyn. Alongside Saig Madec, 25 high ranking members of the Blueshirts have been condemned to life imprisonment after they were accused of murder and abuse of power when the suppressed the same protests. The Legal Purges, headed by the Office of the Justiciar and the Dun Eidyn Tribunal will continue with the hearings of 35 more members of the Blueshirts and afterwards of Seathan MacRath and his bands which he called the White Army.

Radical Prometheists condemn Marxism-Leninovism and Kadikistan

An Daonnachd

In an interview offered to An Daonnachd (The Humanity), Iomhar Mac Asgaill, the Chairman of the Radical Prometheist Party has condemned what he calls the blind allegiance of the Marxist-Leninovist Parties to Ivar. He also attacks the western nations in Gallo-Germania for allowing to function. "Let us not be fooled. The Party of the Left in Caledonia might be as strong as the DKPP in Pelasgia, but that is because here and in Pelasgia they can openly declare their true membership statistics, as the two countries have Status Quo Treaties signed with Kadikistan. Sadly, in the other countries, the Marxist-Leninovist Parties are this small only because their supporters are mostly in the closet. They are much more dangerous if they are like this, as those countries are infiltrated by communist terrorists and it will be extremely hard for the intelligence services to manage to catch them before they will strike. Let this be a warning. At a simple order given by Ivar, nations like Elben, Eiffelland, Bourgogne and Trivodnia will erupt in civil wars which won't be won by the terrorists, but will weaken those nations so much that when Moravscik will decide to begin his world revolution, there will be no one to fight him." When he was asked about the Party of the Left in Caledonia, Iomhar Mac Asgaill simply stated: "Kill them all, now when they are in the open. Cleanse this country and then reinstate the Iron Wall."

A Tale of Faraway Brothers and Different Models
Opinion article by Astrid Laht

The Fino-Ugric peoples must some the biggest language and cultural group that has managed by its own will and the will of its neighbours to be so dispersed. You have the Viru, with its 21 million members, the biggest people, living in Oriental Scania, followed by the 18 million Harkans, living in Central Germania, representing half of the Dual Monarchy of Carinthia-Harkany, the Calidians in Northern Germania and the most obscure of all, the Yamalians. All those represent peoples which might have originally have had their urheimat, their ancestral homelands in today's northern Kadikistan and destiny has made them disperse all over the globe.
There might be three distinct cultures in this family, the Gothic Sea Ugrics, which are made of the closely related and mutually intelligible Viru and Calidians, the Harkaners and the Yamalians. We will tackle each of those groups in this article and talk about development models in each and if we would be lucky, even try to provide a futurological analysis.

First, the Viru-Kalidi binomial. Both of the countries are speaking a common language, the Gothic Sea Ugric, which is named either Viru or Calidian, depending on which shore of the Gothic Sea you are standing on. There are two layers of differences which give each country their distinct approach. The first and the oldest layer is the religious one: Virumaa has been a country in which the reformation has been successful and the Nordic Church, which is Unitarian and thus doesn't accept the trinity has been the state church until 2005, when it was disestablished and freedom of religion granted. The Calidians have remained firmly catholic but since the Marxist-Leninovists came to power, they have adopted anti-clerical and atheist policies and thus many people are now non-religious. The second and most important layer is the political and ideological one. During the decade of war, Calidia was allied with Kadikistan, while Virumaa was a monarchy under a Prometheist regime. Today, the cold relations still exist between the two, as Virumaa is a democratic capitalist republic, while Calidia, like I said before is a communist state. In 1957, Calidia's position was weakened when the clans ruling Kadikistan were replaced by the New Order, which immediately signed the Northern Status Quo Treaty with Virumaa. The Calidians saw themselves as betrayed and rejected the new order, still supporting the clans, while still continuing their proxy war with Virumaa, supporting the rejectionist RTE (Radikaalne Tegevus Ees; The Radical Action Front), which has organised a series of terrorist attacks in Kuressaare, Imavere and Raasiku in the 60s and 70s. Even today, the RTE is currently in hibernation and can easily be brought to life by an order from Rakvere. There have been discussions of Calidia to join Kadikistan as a state in the union, but it remains to be seen if they will follow up. In Kadikistan the New Order still rules. It remains to be seen if Calidia's leaders, Tammet and Veerpalu will go with this to the end. Joining Kadikistan would mean that the small but feisty nation would have to respect the NSQT and with it improve its relations with Virumaa, which I believe it would be a difficult obstacle to pass.

The other two peoples, the Harkans and Yamalians have taken a different model of development, rather than the full and radical model based on independence which Virumaa and Calidia have taken. The Harkans are currently having their own country, The Kingdom of Harkany inside the Dual Monarchy, representing an equal state with the Kingdom of Carinthia, inside the greater Empire. The Harkans have been recognised as equals of the Carinthians in the Treaty of Unification from 1857 and since then, in exchange of their support and loyalty to the Emperor and the Empire, they were given a parliament and a government. Even now, the red saltire with white borders on a green background flag is flying above the city of Karcag. While they enjoy much of the privileges of an independent country, they lack an independent defence and foreign affairs policy. Economically it may be wise to keep the Carinthians as friends, as Harkany is landlocked and its economy is still based on the primary and secondary sectors, the country is still helped and subsidised by the Carinthians. Currently, they may feel that things should be kept this way, but the Empire is known for being hard to govern and to keep the two countries together. Should Carinthia become to friendly to someone Harkany considers a rival, should Carinthia not jump to its aid, if there are economical difficulties or maybe even the other way around, should the Harkan economy prove to be so successful that they will wish to keep all the capital in Karcag, all those represent potential problems that might bring the demise of the empire and the creation of a truly independent Harkany. Being a dual nation might be helpful, but it is much more difficult than a nation state and from my own perspective, it might be a limited settlement. The two can be friends in time of peace and prosperity, but war and difficult times might bring the worst out of all people.

The Yamalians are an enigma. The Kadikistani census brings them all together under the name Yamalian, but The Ugric Cultural Centre, specialised in the cultural development of the Ugric peoples divides them in many peoples, probably as many as 30. The biggest and most important of those are the Yamalians themselves followed by the Ostyaks, Voguls and Yugrans. They, might we say are the most unfortunate of the Ugric people, as they have been occupied by the Kadikistani during the days of the empire and during the reign of the Clans, even during the communist state, they have been pushed out of their lands and Kadikis have been colonised in their main urban centres. The arrival of the New Order has brought some juridic changes as they started enjoying political rights and representation and languages are now protected by the authorities. Things might yet be problematic in the future as the flag debate has stirred the spirits in Kadikistan and has brought forward camps supporting either the federalisation or the transformation of Kadikistan into a unitary nation-state of the Kadikis. While many Yamalians have arrived in Virumaa, especially in the White Islands as refugees and have told stories about abuses coming from the Kadiki dominated state authorities, things seem to have changed in recent years, as inside the Kadiki parliament there is a Yamalian caucus bent on supporting their culture and heritage. Economically, the Yamalians are the same as the Harkaners. They are dependent on the national economy of Kadikistan but they have some handicaps, as the frigid north isn't as rich as Harkany and Kadikistan isn't a confederacy which sees its members as full national and equal allies. The recent news in Kadikistani media about car accidents and disappearances of regionalist and ethnic minority deputes seem to raise some eyebrows. It is our hope that the Yamalians might manage to stay away from the power struggle that is going on and try to survive as they did until now.

Concerns over new tensions

Tensions have risen in Southern Gallo-Germani and the Long Sea after the authorities in Trier and Marsillia have announced the surprise ascension of the Kingdom of Occitania in the Trier Concord. The Government of the Union of Virumaa has been concerned over the new tensions and threats which has this morning been met with full on mobilisations of the Kadikistani Army in the west. The government has criticised the ascension of the Occitans into the alliance as it has broke the balance between the communist states of Kadikistan and Serenierre on one side and the capitalist kingdoms of southern Gallo-Germania on the other.

"The was the ascension of Occitania has been treated by politicians in Marsillia and Trier is close to childish amateurism. It was clear that in Gallia, with Serenierre thawing its relationship with Bourgogne and warming up to Occitania, such a move will be deemed an affront. I cannot do anymore than to issue warnings to the Viru people who are travelling these days to Occitania, Serenierre, Retalia, Eiffelland and Kadikistan and to raise the alarm level to our soldiers garrisoning Ajdir, to be sure that should a conflict spark, it will not spillover North Himyar and Cabaon," stated the Right Honorable Koit Sisask, Chancellor of Virumaa.

The Ministry of National Defence has reported that the alert levels of the White Army has been raised in Cabaon and in Lounamaad.

Ministry of Development starts bidding process to Canal Project

The Canal Project linking the Ida Strait to Lake Vissi has received funding from the Ministry of Finance and the bidding process has been started. After the 1957 War, with the exception of Loksa, which has remained an affluent and prosperous town housing one of the biggest spa resorts in the northern hemisphere, many of the sleepy towns and villages along the lakes have been developed and industrialised. The discovery of the oil reserves in the White Islands have led to the building of refineries in Taaralinn, Petseri and Riisvere. The newly developed industries have agglomerated the freight traffic on the central and eastern mainlines which link the cities of the north with Kuressaare and also the capital's port. As a result, even from the early 1980s, the government has been searching for ways to release the strain on the land transport and by cutting on expenses by bringing maritime transportation to the lakes.

The Canal has a total length of 36 kilometres, broke in two parts. One linking the Ida Strait with Lake Jaala, which is 17 kilometres long, and the second, linking Lake Jaala with Lake Vissi, which is 19 kilometres long. Along the Canal, six floodgates will have to be constructed, two ports will have to be constructed from scratch and three will have to be expanded. As of yet, the Ministry of Finance has allotted a total of 1.5 billion Krone for the first phases of construction, linking the Ida Strait to Lake Jaala, but in the end, many expect the price of the Canal to go further than 5 billion Krone.

Supporters of the Canal Project have stated that the price of the construction can amortise in around 25 years after it was completed and that it can help not only the industrial towns along the lakes, but the lakeside resorts like Loksa to receive tourists from cruise ships.

People against it are those who condemn the planning of the project being too expensive, stating that it might surely become frozen as after the initial enthusiasm will curb, delays will start and after 10 years, progress would be slow or even non-existent. Criticism also comes from ecologist groups which call for the creation of two National Parks in the fens in the isthmuses, stating that the construction process might destroy the breeding grounds of endemic frogs and reptiles and also confuse birds which migrate south to Gallo-Germania or north to Pohjamaad which use the fens as a place to stop and rest on their odyssey.

The Ugandi Times is the local newspaper of the State of Ugandi and the Jewish Community of Virumaa

Government declares full neutrality in the upcoming conflict

The Supreme Council of National Security has met today in Kuressaare to discuss the recent escalation in Gallo-Germania and the Long Sea. The Council is headed by the State Elder, Laura Lepp and by Chancellor Koit Sisask. The council is further formed of the Minister of Interior, Linda Tarvas, the Minister of National Defence, Andrus Masing, the Supreme Commander of the Southern Host and Marshall of Virumaa, Paavo Saar, the Supreme Commander of the Northern Host, Jaan Vaher, the Admiral of the Gothic Sea Fleet, Mihkel Vaino and the Admiral of the White Sea Fleet, Krista Tamm. The Security Forces of Cabaon are also represented by Colonel Jughurten Kamal.

The Council has decided to fully declare the complete neutrality of the Union of Virumaa in the future conflict. Chancellor Koit Sisask has responded stating that the Viru ships will be neutral and that the country will continue to trade with both camps. He stated that the country has no interest in joining the trade war that has started and the potential armed conflict brewing. The country has no interest neither to join nor to fight the Trier Concord and will continue to respect the High North Status Quo Treaty, provided that Kadikistan will continue to do the same.

Even so, the policy decided upon by the Council is one of armed neutrality. The White Armed Forces have been put on high alert. Through this, the government wishes to state that even if Virumaa is to remain neutral, it is more than capable of defending its territories. The army will act as a deterrent for any form of violence and aggression aimed at Viru citizens, assets and interests. The Neutrality Policy applies to Virumaa and Cabaon only, as after the State of Maseru Act, Loago has been given the freedom of its own foreign policy.

Rebbe Ott Sester calls for volunteers to defend Trivodnia

Rebbe Ott Sester, the head of the Sester Hashidic dynasty has issued a call for all Yiddish people in Caledonia to help the Jews of Trivodnia by either making donations to help the Free State, of by outright joining as volunteers of the Free State's Self-Defence Forces.. Rebbe Sester is known for his strong support of the Folkist movement in Trivodnia and his hostility to Krasnislavians, Catholicism and Communism. He has previously called for the Trivodnian Army to intervene and stop the Krasnislavian March, calling the participants a "barbarian horde from the steppe, ready to destroy civilisation". Rebbe Ott Sester has been previously fined by the Anti-Discrimination board of Virumaa for his rhetoric, but this has only made him more virulent, even going on to say that the Union of Virumaa has been infiltrated by "Slavo-Communists bent on subjugating the world".

The Rebbe has stated that Trivodnia is a country under a permanent siege as long as it neighbours Kadikistan and has asked the Yiddish community in Virumaa to join the efforts to defend the Free State. The government has reminded him that anyone serving in a foreign military force might lose the right to Viru citizenship, but even so, around 50 young men from the Kerdla community have stepped forward promising to help Trivodnia in any sort of future conflict.

Conspiracy group dismantled. Radek money found

In a massive joint operation organised by the 2nd and 5th Divisions of the Riigi Turvaamet, the State Security Administration and of the 4th Directorate of the Politsei, more than seven safe houses have been raided. Thirty two men and women were arrested and more than seventy small weapons were confiscated. The raid started early this morning, at 3 am, when the sun was already in the sky in Imavere, Vendra and Pohjalinn and by 5 am operations were underway in Kerdla, Vaatsa and Kuressaare.

The group has been accused of monetary fraud, after they managed to hack the servers of the Keskpank and took the money which the state confiscated from General Radek and his associates in the aftermath of the Radek Putsch in Crotobaltislavonia. The hackers managed to masterfully conceal their tracks as the authorities didn't manage for months to find anything which could help them in finding the lost sums. Things have changed this summer as reports from the black market in the State of the White Islands and the State of Sakala stated that vast sums of money entered the market and the demand for weapons has increased exponentially.

When the 2nd and 5th Divisions of the Riigi Turvaamet, the Interal Counterespionage and the Foreign Intelligence units started following on the reports from the northern black markets, the Politsei was called to strike. The first arrests brought in the news of a nation-wide conspiracy linked to the recent tensions between the Trier Concord and the Rurikgrad Pact.

The gang which organised the heist to steal the assets of General Radek and his associates are a group called the Arctic Front, which is made of Viru, Yamalians, Kadikis, Gunns and Loagans, all united by anti-communist rhetoric. The first findings in the safe houses show that the group wished to see Virumaa return to its 1950s geopolitical positions and take an active stance in the fight to contain communism. Many of the Viru members were radicalised by the Yamalians and Kadikis, which were anti-communist refugees and by the Gunns, which were coming from an authoritarian right-wing, catholic and integralist state.

The group wished to use the Radek Money to buy guns or to bribe officers from the White Army to organise a coup d'etat and prop up a government which would have declared the High North Status Quo Treaty null and void and joined the Trier Concord in its policy of containing communism.

The State Elder of Virumaa, the Right Honorable Laura Lepp, has come out in the afterwards of the operation and has stated that the neutrality of Virumaa is and will be a priority for the government. She condemned the group for being ready to throw the country into a war, describing them as "fascist foreigners radicalising naive Viru".

What may have been a surprise move, the Ministry of Finances ordered the National Agency of Fiscal Administration to audit the Viru Himyari Company, as some of papers found in the safe houses provided communication info with higher ups from the Company.

OTHER NEWS:
Gallo-Germania is burning: The Great War has started today, as the Rurikgrad Nations have declared war on the Trier Concord and have began their military operations with mass missile strikes in Trivodnia and Occitania. The Army units in Cabaon have been put on high alert.
Rebbe Ott Sester reissues call to arms: In a speech he held at Radio Ugandi, Rebbe Ott Sester has called for volunteers from the Jewish community of Virumaa, centred in the State of Ugandi and from the refugee communities of the Yamalians and Kadikistanis living in Virumaa to go and fight against communism in Trivodnia. The state has issued again calls to reduce the tensions and has stated that anyone wearing foreign uniforms might lose their Viru citizenship.

We wish to inform the publication that the Republique Populaire has only declared war on the Kingdom of Occitania. We have not declared war on the other states of the Trier Concord. Furthermore, we are not a member-state of the Ruriksgrad Pact.

Servicing and Cabaon since 1901 - News. Culture. Sport. Lifestyle - 50 Senti - 6 Juuli 2018

Loago: PM Muzorewa formally announces nationalisation of economy

Jaak Muzorewa, the Prime Minister of Loago has signed a decree which was backed by the members of his cabinet which formalises the complete nationalisation of the Loagan economy. The call comes after the recent anti-subversive operations in Virumaa which have brought to light the covert support of the Viru Himyari Company to anti-communist movements both in the north, in Virumaa, but also in the south, in Loago and Cabaon. The Maseru government is also under pressure from the League of Communists, headed by Paavo Masasmba, which has recently has a sharp rise in popularity, as they were the main campaigners against the "Divination Ban Decree".

The Viru Himyari Company is currently the biggest corporation in the Viridian Union states, owning more than 60% of Loagan based companies and having a monopoly over the southern markets. Much of central and southern Loago is policed by Southern Security, a protection agency owned by the VHC. This has brought much criticism from civil action groups and NGOs, many even from Virumaa, which were calling the VHC a state within the state. The Viridian Union Statehood Statistics Agency has even gone as far as saying that until the influence of the VHC is diminished, the Republic of Loago cannot be declared a sovereign state.

The full and without compensation nationalisation announced by PM Muzorewa has been received with shock by the Maseru and Kuressaare Stock Markets, where the prices for shares in Loago based companies have decreased on average by 40% in a few hours.

Right-wing politicians acre criticising this, calling it a communist takeover, with the League of Communists representing some sort of a shadow government influencing Jaak Muzorewa. The Viru, Gunn and Engell communities living on the Limestone coast have been concerned that their lives in a post-nationalisation Loago might not continue as before. The Viru embassy in Maseru has been flooded with people applying for residency status in Virumaa, based on their Viru ancestry.

Cabaon: Preparations are being made as first refugees arrive

After the United Republic of Virumaa has officially declared its neutrality and has offered "refugee tickets" to Cabaon, Loago and Virumaa on its two airlines, Boreal and Austral, around 300 people have arrived in Ajdir by now.

Around 120 Occitans, 50 Serenierre and the rest a mix of Ruthenians, Galicians, Eiffellanders, Trivodnians and Retalians have arrived in the Refugee Camp in Ajdir which was organised by the Red Crescent, with funding from the Cabaon Aid Program, offered by the United Republic of Virumaa.

Many of them, like the Serenierre, the Ruthenians and the Galicians, have arrived even before the war started, out of fear of what the future might bring in Gall0-Germania, a continent which has been torn by wars since prehistory. Most of them come from the border regions and for them it was clear that with the tensions running high, it was a question of time until their houses will turn into a battle ground. At the beginning, Virumaa was accepting refugees even from non-beligerent countries, like Ruthenia-Galicia but has since turned against this policy, stating that as of yet, R-G managed to keep its neutrality. The government stated that it would return to this decision if Ruthenia might become involved in the Great War.

The Ajdir Camp has been organised into what in the 1957-1985 period was a labour camp for political prisoners, especially communists brought from Loago and Virumaa. When the dictatorship fell in 1985, the camp was abandoned. In its prime, it housed 25,000 prisoners. Now, only a part of it has been refurbished and transformed into a modern refugee camp, housing currently 600 refugees, its maximum capacity being 5,000. If needed, the State of Cabaon will provide funds from the Viru Aid Program to completely refurbish the camp and turn it into a safe haven for people fleeing war.
