Though it had been the Montelimarians that colonized northern Khalistan, it was the Templar missionaries that were most responsible for converted on the Khalistani, an though all of Khalistan eventually came under the rule of the Khalsa Raj, the Templar missions and schools still allowed operate and the vast majority of the priest in Khalistan would be of the Order of Christ's Templar Friars and Preachers. This being the case, most of the those present were pretty sure who the two Khalistani Cardinals would vote for.

"Before the voting is complete, I want to make a few things clear about my stance. I am not saying that we dominate people's personal lives, or tell them what to do and what not to do. I am merely stating that we should make our presence more known to those who are not aware of our doctrines and what we stand for." Tattiglia stated.

Black smoke came out of the chimney... after the first voting round there was no successor found.

The delegations of Danmark, Bemont, Hajr, Vangala, Fulanistan, South Ratomkira, Oikawa, Jizhou, Oltremare, Talemantros, Sinhai, Wendmark, Warr and Carentania all abstained from the voting. The Papal States delegation did not vote as well.

"Three candidates are in a very close position", said cardinal d'Ursaque. "The maximum difference is 5 votes between the first and the thirth". He counted 151 votes in total, being 65% (or 76% if the Papal States votes are not counted in the total).

"Therefor, i give you, Monseigneurs, the names in alphabetical order. May the Holy Spirit inspire us for this second and final round. All delegations can see their voting can make the difference for the future of our Church".

"Cardinal Renard, Cardinal Schmidt and Cardinal Tattiglia, you have been selected by the wisdom of this Conclave."

d'Ursaque urged to distribute the voting bullets...

OOC: voting will end on tuesday 12.00 hr Paris time and is secret. We decided on a second round, and seen the little difference between the three candidates, I think it is usefull to continue.

The old cardinal spoke to the clerk. Again. Went through the papers with marks on it. One for every vote. "The decision is clear, the Holy Spirit has guided us, and we succeeded", he said.

The clerk assembled the voting bullets. A thiny, little man, a priest he was, he has been all his career within the walls of the Holy See. Nevertheless, with his pale hands around the papers, he looked at the cardinal.

"Burn them", d'Ursaque said. And then very silent: "Burn them. May the Lord preserve his Church".

The paper was mixed with wet straw. The little flame of the candle started nibling the material.

d'Ursaque went into the assemblee room. He went to his president chair and with great dignity, as if he felt history was in his hands, he said: "Monseigneurs, habemus papam!"

The cardinals applauded, but at the same time this was overwhelmed with the noise from the main square where people had gathered. White smoke broke the darkness of the night.

OOC 78,5% of the votes are in, and the voting after 12.00 today haven't influenced the result, but are counted. It's time to draw the line

With a serenity that cam upon him, he lifted himself from his chair, went to the elected cardinal, and asked 'Do you accept'?.

'I accept', was the answer, 'may the Lord stand by me in my task'.

The cardinal kneeled, and al the other clergyman followed his example.

'What name do you choose, your Holiness?'

'Stephanus', said the man.

Cardinal d'Ursaque had no trouble seeing why. The popes Stephanus II and III reigned during the Catholic revival of the 18th century. Stephanus III died a few months after his election, but was still remembered because of his writings to show the importance of good education for the flock.

"Stephanus IV it will be".

White robes were put on his sholders. Pope he was.

He was leaded to the balcony. The crowed couln't wait to see him. When he appeared in the window applause was swelling.

Cardinal d'Ursaque stepped foreward and spoke: 'Habemus papam!' Again applause.

Cardinal Alexander Renard, the orphan of Aquitania that became primate of his country, stepped on the balcony as Stephanus IV.

The first blessing of Stephanus IV filled the old d'Ursaque with joy.

The Church, tha Papal States, the whole chrisianity have a new leader!
