The whole Legionâr airport, few kilometres away from the capital city, was put on hold, soldiers in ceremonial uniform where positioned on the sides of a long red carpet, an was flying in the distance, keeping the airport and the surrounding area under strict surveillance.

The President of the Republic, , and Prime Minister were waiting at the end of the carpet, along with their translators, few civil servants, and brigadier general ; further back, behind the leaders, a large military band was already playing some songs to tune the instruments.

The outstanding relations between the Republic of Friuli and the Kingdom of Merioneth (or Merionê, as it is called in friulian) where quite unusual on account of their distance and cultural diversity.
They flourished thanks to the hard work of the expatriates that left the Kingdom for Friuli, which lacked technology experts, giving Merionethians an opportunity to work and even open businesses in the Friulian Republic, this gave benefits to both, with Merionethians finding jobs and being happily welcomed in the local society, and Friulians enjoying a steady technological leap that positively transformed the once strictly rural nation, a phenomenon so important and lasting that tech experts are commonly called "Meriôns" by the Friulian people.

"l'aviòn de Merionê al sta par rivà"
"The Airplane from Merioneth is about to arrive" a civil servant announced to the two national leaders.

"...And checkmate. That's the third game you've lost in this flight, your majesty" said Steward Wynfor Pugh with a boastful tone after he beat the King at a game of chess. The two men had built up a strong and friendly working relationship over their time working together and regularly played chess together, a common passion they both shared. Just as the third chess match had come to a close a member of the royal household came up to the two men and said "Your highness, Mr Steward, the aircraft is coming in to land at Legionâr Airport now".

The two men both gazed out of the window at the sprawling beauty that was Udin. "I remember visiting Friuli many moons ago" said the Steward, "the food here's amazing" he added. With his economic policies so far having less than satisfactory outcomes the Steward enjoyed taking part in foreign affairs as he felt it was the one area in which his government was relatively free of any criticism. King Emyr also enjoyed taking part in foreign affairs, the ongoing economic issues within Merioneth had taken a toll on the royal family with support for the continuation of the monarchy reaching new lows as people paid particular attention to every detail of their spending.

As the aircraft landed at Legionâr Airport the King let out a sigh and got up out of his seat. "Time for business" he said with a rather dull tone in his voice. The Steward followed suit and got up out of his seat with both men heading for the door of the aircraft. They were hit by rays of the early spring Friulian sun as they disembarked the aircraft and went to meet the President and Prime Minister.

@Friuli
OOC: The Frilians would refer to the Steward as the Prime Minister as the title of Steward is used only in Merioneth normally.

The plane stopped in front of the carpet, and as the two Merioneth leaders walked down the stairs the military band started playing the Merionethian anthem, as they walked on the carpet the soldiers saluted the guests.

In line, at the end of the carpet, stood the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, and the brigadier general.

"We are very pleased of your presence, your highness - We appreciate your presence Siôr Pugh"
"Very pleased to meet you, your highness - Glad to meet you Siôr Pugh"
"Welcome - Welcome" said the brigadier general, saluting both
The Heads of state and government waited for a group of photographers to take some pictures, then moved each on a car, and proceeded to the capital city with a pompous escort from the national police to be then divided: the two heads of government proceeded to the parliament and government offices, while the two heads of state went on towards the residence of the President of the Republic.

After a brief tour of the building, the two prime ministers moved to a rustic sitting room, where they were joined by a group of government officials.
"O speri cal svol no sedi sât masse stufadič, a mancul a no son pirâts in tal aiar ançhemò. çhemût ise la su disore, in te Merionê? veso fastîdis ançhe le?"
"I hope the flight wasn't too stressful, at least there's no pirates in the air yet. how is it up there in Merioneth? do you have similar problems?" asked Furio

The President and King climbed the front stairs, surrounded by the presidential guard, once entered the building they found themselves in a large hall, decorated with frescoes and Tiburan-era statues; at the center of the hall was a table with decorative flowers, among which was a large variety of Wines made in Friuli like Merlot, Picolit, Malvasia, Cabernet, Verduzzo, Tocai; and appetizers: small portions of and , slices of prosciutto and salami on bread, cubes of many varieties of cheese and slices of . in a corner, a small choir started to sing Friulian .

"The flight was lovely, I got the chance to dust off my chess skills and I'm still just as good as I was before. I was actually the National Youth Chess Champion when I was younger" replied the Prime Minister. "Thankfully we have had no pirate issues in Merioneth yet but who knows. I would hope we never have to deal with it personally considering the issues we already face" he added.

"Yes, I am a massive fan of Friulian gastronomy" said King Emyr. "Sadly I can't go out to the few Friulian restaurants in Treganna so I am stuck with my chef's interpretation. Hopefully I can try fully authentic Friulian food whilst I am here" he said with a smile.

"Please tell me more, with the war and all the turmoil of these days, I haven't been able to focus on the happenings in Merioneth"

"Well, it definitely has not been as much drama as what has been happening in South Gallo-Germania but after years of shrinking, even if not by a lot, unemployment has been going up and my party is split on how to handle. Personally, I believe reform is the only way but there are many who will try to block reform and if the opposition also opposes reform there's no hope. However, I can not simply ignore the need for reforming the economy as the whole government coalition is built on the promises I made to pass laws for economic de-regulation and some spending cuts. But, I'm sure you have much more going on within Friuli than I have to contend with."

Residence of the President

"I definitely would not be opposed to that, I love Merioneth's native dishes but they can get rather boring after a while and the chefs are not the best but I have no control over them. Anyway, is there anything major that we will be doing whilst I am on this visit? I would love to be able to go out onto the streets of Udin and see the architecture more up-close."

"Let's say we don't get bored here, anyhow, maybe we can achieve some kind of trade agreement today, so that you won't go back home empty-handed, it might help you with your reforms, and might help us too"
Furio handed a glass of liquor to the guest, and slowly spelled "Grapùte di gnagne Juste" "aunt Juste's Liquor" "dî bèst"

"cence mancul vuestri altèce! o vin pensât di puartàlu a viòdi alc a teàtri, o larîn in màchine pes vias dal centri par rivà là, cunt une piçule paràde"
while the translator did his job, Fabrîs went to the table to pick some bread and salami slices "certainly your highness! we thought of bringing you to see a theatrical play, we'll get to the theatre by car, moving through the historic center with a small parade."

The President took the liquor and took a sip. "Wow.." he said pulling a face, "that's strong. I do agree we should work on some kind of trade deal. Although, we should probably just get the basic details down for now and allow for our respective government departments to deal with the more fine detail. Is there anything major that Friuli is seeking out of the deal?".

Residence of the President

"I would love to go and see a Friulian play. I have heard from others that Friuli is one of the best places in Europe for the performing arts."

"Well we're looking to lighten the costs of healthcare, so my government council has come out with the idea of lifting the imports tariffs on pharmaceuticals coming from Merioneth, the local production is not sufficient at all and imported stuff costs a lot. in exchange lower tariffs on Friulian foodstuffs imports in Merioneth could be fair, what do you think?"

"The Friulian theatre plays, and more generally the traditional music and chants, are deeply connected with our roots: a meltingpot of many cultures that influenced the Tiburan mother culture. that is what makes the grandeur of our arts and our people"

"Hmm...I think that is something we could agree to. Agriculture is definitely not a strong feature of Merioneth's economy with much of our land being so far north and our south being dominated by urban areas. Although, surely we should try to do more than just lowering tariffs for those and industries and try to make a farther reaching trade agreement."

Residence of the President

"That sounds exactly like something out of the travel magazine's I read that love to romanticise your country. I'm glad that is the truth and not just hyperbole. I would love it if the Friulian arts could be exported to Merioneth so that everyone could experience the magical culture of this place."
