Durendal Palace
12th May, 2018

The crowds had been amassing for hours outside the gates of Durendal Palace. Television crews from the LBC, DTU and Trois! were already setting up their cameras, with Olivia Merovech, from the latter most Television company, already in front of one, nattering on about the impending event.

Prince Roland ran a hand through his greying hair as he peered out of one of the windows. The fifty-seven year old reigning Prince of Lassisse let out a weary sigh, and all but slumped onto one of the luxurious sofas that took up space in the large study. Surrounding him, his family, dressed in immaculate attire. Clovis, his second son, was conspicuously absent. Jean did not seen insulted, his brother was, after all, on duty in with the Chevalier Corp.

It was one of the staff, Jacques, if Roland recalled correctly, entering the room, that broke the silence. "..Your Serene Highness, they are ready for you all."

Sighing, Roland wearily stood up and smoothed out his suit. Putting on an grandfatherly smile, the Prince strode through the halls of the Durendal Palace, and soon..into the open air. The flashes of the cameras filled his eyes, until he reached the podium.

"Good people of Lassisse, and our friends in foreign nations!" Roland addressed them, and his and other nations. "Today, I can openly claim another title. That of Grandfather. As you know, my daughter-in-law gave birth to a daughter, a little over a month ago. I am now proud to introduce my granddaughter, Stéphanie to the world."

Then it was Jean and Sophie's turn to step up to the podium. The heir to the Lassinian Throne cleared his throat.
"Both myself, and Sophie wish to convey our heartfelt thanks to all those that have offered us their best wishes on the birth of our daughter, Stéphanie...."

As his son continued to speak, Roland allowed himself a contented smile. His eyes rested on Jean and his babe. The line of succession was solid, and Clovis had said he would not contend his niece's inheritance. The House of Lorraine was strong, and safe.
