Luftwaffe continues to improve Arsenal

Following the authorization of the Bundesversammlung for a major budget increase in 2004, the Luftwaffe has ordered 4 aircraft and with the intention to buy 10 more in the next three years. The Osprey allows for a Vertical Take-Off, and Short Landing which makes it very versatile with speed and is planned the to replace the as the Bundeswehr's primary heavy-lift aircraft. The transition should be complete in the next decade. These purchases coincide with the new doctrine of the Bundeswehr, which has moved from the Division as the main unit of manuever to the Brigade Combat Team, which is centered on the , and the V-22 Osprey. All of these new plans are part of the Military Re-vitalization Act of 2001, which moved to modernize the forces of the nation.

The Luftwaffe has also showed interest in the Eurofighter Typhoon, but no contracts have been made. The Bundeswehr is expected to start talks with the manufacturers in the near future, as the aging Tornadoes are becoming out-dated. The Chancellor commented on the subject last week in the capitol saying "The Luftwaffe is showing interest in several different aircraft, especially the Eurofighter, but it is still deliberating on which one will fit with the doctrine best." When asked about the costs of all the modernization's, the Chancellor simply said "Our fighting men and women deserve the best equipment possible, and we will give them that. I am not concerned with costs when it comes to life and death. I give my full confidence to the MilitarAusschuss that they are spending the budget in the best interest of the country."
