International Football Cup 1956

Welcome to the 1956 International Football Cup, in Pastvina, Nufruedan. Many national football teams from around the world will compete in this tournament to win the Football Cup, a prestigious award only given to champions of this tournament. The tournament will begin with friendly matches, and the playoffs will begin on September 5th. Results will be posted tomorrow.

OOC Notes: Nations that have serious hostilities against each other will not be able to play against each other. Colonies (Camden, Otho-Eam etc.) will not be able to participate. Some nations that left this forum (not all) may be included in the tournament. Also, since Varanasi is currently having a character crisis, he will not be included in RP until he sorts out which character he wants to roleplay as. Sorry Taley.

The first goal was scored by Lovisan midfielder Blazej Siuda, from a fantastic cross from right winger Krystian Polakowski. The second goal was scored by Andaluzian striker Marco Florez, in a charge down the center of the defense. The next goal was scored by defender Enzo Montez in a penalty kick. The goal after that was scored by midfielder Saul Lucido with a header from a corner kick by fellow midfielder Hector Veron. The final goal was scored by Mariusz Kowal, with a charge down the center of the Andaluzian defense.

The next goal was scored by Mehldorfean defender Julian Schrebber, with a header from a corner kick. The final goal was scored by striker Artur Novy, with a run down the middle.

Lauenburg's team coach says he is disappointed by the loss but sources close to him claim that he believes the match was rigged. Angry football fans in Launeburg have burnt Nufruedanian flags and called them cheats despite no evidence to suggest so, as of yet.

There is not a soccer rivalry between Eiffelland and Pelasgia, at least not from Eiffelland's side. But that does not imply that the Eiffellandians didn't react after the Eiffellandian team won the match. Spontaneous street parties broke out after the match. Gynaecologists already busy with the annual carnival birth rate peak expect an additional football birth rate peak in August next year.

While Pelasgians were not too amused at the prospect of losing to "barbarians" (which pretty much consisted of everyone except them and Aegada), nobody could deny they had a soft spot in their hearts for the Eiffellandians. After all, both teams had played rather well. They decided to blow off steam and go celebrate with the Eiffellandians; they could always win next year.

The celebrating Pelasgians were heartily welcomed by the celebrating Eiffellandians. Pub owners all over Eiffelland and Pelasgia are happy with the extra revenues. The Eiffellandians hope that they are considered at least good barbarians.
