The Government of the Kingdom of Bangala humbly accepts the invitation of the Most Honorable Confederation of Ionia.
We designate the Most Honorable Dirk Pieterszoon Sweelinck, Duke of Matamba to the meeting in Algolis and discuss affairs of our nations.
We Hope that we can have a great friendship between Bangalan and Ionian people.

The Ionian Delegation is expecting the Bangalan one in Algolis' Zappeion hall. The same atrium as the one used in the meeting with Ivernia mere weeks earlier has been chosen as the ground for the talks. Its lighting and architecture seemed to be enjoyed by the Ivernish diplomats and it is esteemed that these same factors would have a positive result in diplomatic talks. Athanasios Presveftis Vasiliou, the Ionian Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs is waiting in Zappeion's Atrium eager to meet with the Bagaln diplomats, the first Himyari diplomats to set foot in Algolis.

 

[Bangala]

Duke Dirk arrives in Algolis, and goes immediately to Zappeion hall. The Duke walks slowly, and when he arrives the meeting hall he sits on the main chair and starts talking:

Dirk: Well, first I'm sorry for the delay, we are in a diplomatic war with the Zwart Coast Dutchs, and your Confederacy is far, far away from Bangala!

[Ionia]

Athanasios is startled; Zwart Coast Dutchs? He has heard of them before but doesn't know much of them. Perhaps he was talking to he right man to find out. On to that man he seems like an experienced, practical and direct fellow that doesn't bother with long speeches and introduction. Just like Athanasios in a way. With smile the Ionian man begin talking;
"Oh do not worry that is none of your fault and is most natural. Could you tell me a little more on these Zwart Coast Dutchs of yours? Their name has crossed my desk, and newspaper more recently, but I do not know much of them."

 

[Bangala]

Dirk: Are a bunch of Dutch racists who live isolated from society in the Zwart Coast in the South of Bangala and want to be free from us. They are the only Dutch group who cause problems to us, in the other provinces the Dutchs live in peace with everyone. Recently they created a parliament and the crap started and ...

An emissary enters the room and gives a last minute news to the Duke: the Zwart surrendered... the smile on the face of the old Duke Dirk disappears...

Dirk: Forget this Dutchs for now.... let's talk about Ionia....

While Athanasios himself didn't care about the news and the duke's opinion Demosthenes, one of the Diplomats wasn't as happy. Being half Dutch he wasn't very happy to hear that. But he had been in the Diplomatic Corps long enough to know when to keep his mouth shut. Athanasios replied;
"Sure what do you want to know?"

Dirk: Everything, how goes the country, its people, what proposals you can introduce me?

Athanasios: Sure. Ionia is a confederation of city states that have been untied since the ancient times. W'ere a republic without any monarchist or other non-democratic elements and are mainly focused on maritime trade and agriculture. The people are very happy and welcoming to strangers. Most still follow the ancient ways and as such we aren't really happy about westernization and the such. On to proposals the most beneficial treaty a nation such as ours could strike with any nation would most surely be a trade agreement. An alliance would also be very practical but that is a very hard thing to achieve usually.

 

[Bangala]

Dirk:Well, my greatest interest are the trade between the two nations, since we have a large primary sector and a and oil. What can you say?

Athanasios: I am in full agreement. Would you care to sign?

Athanasios took a pen out and stood over a piece of paper. "Treaty of Commerce and Trade between the Kingdom of Bangala and the Ionian Confederation" said the headline of the document.

Dirk: Yes, I can sign and send out to Bangala to signed by the Protector *

Athanasios: That is great news my friend! Now since we've gotten past the diplomatic affairs don't you think we could use a little drink to celebrate the agreement? Nothing too hard, just a traditional Ionian wine. What do you say?

The Ionian service personnel brought glasses of wine to all diplomats. They were drink fine Ionian Red wine of 1898 from the Dionysian Vineyards.
