The Ionian Delegation arrive in Chaleroi aboard the Ionian diplomatic Plane. While exiting the plane Aristotle Filanthropos Kifisodtou is staled by the harsh and fierce Sylvanian climate. About a day ago he was in his warm homeland, where Spring already feels like summer while right now, right here he has to wear wintery clothes once more to ave himself form frostbite or worse. Yet he cannot refuse that he is in awe. In Ionia cold weather is rare and as such the change sticks with him roe than well. "So much snow... I could even make a snowman!" he thinks reminded of the dream of most Ionian children and even adults like himself who rarely get to see snow. While preparing to greet the Sylvnian welcoming party his is once more startled by their appearance and the look of the area around him; all dressed in formal Western "suits". Few wear those back at home. To his eyes they're much more serious and practical than the Ionian chiton and toga like clothing. Then again common courtesy and personal preference made him also war Western clothes on this trip. Maybe international diplomacy isn't that bad. And the buildings; closed without pillars and the like; much more efficient, especially in the winter. In a way this country might be more suited to his practical taste and nature than Ionia. "Then again one cannot judge a book by its cover but this is one lovely cover!" he thought.

As the Ionian delegation stepped of the plane they were greeted by some of the finest units of the Metropolitan Police of Charleroi, there they escorted them through the airport to a convoy of limousines and police cruisers where they would be brought to the heart of the city where the capitol building stood. Aristotle Kifisodtou was escorted to the middle limousine where Director of Foreign Affairs, Autumn Viklund and the Vice Director awaited him. The Ionian diplomat was welcomed as the convoy pulled away from the airport, the police moving traffic out of the way with their blaring sirens. Charleroi was an large for its population, the buildings stunted by a local ordinance that restricted the height of the buildings within the city limits. The buildings were ornate in their designs giving off an air of great wealth and prosperity it was clear that the boom times had come to stay and the people of Sylvania were getting as much of the good times as they could, the people here basked in their wealth, were only a few years ago many of them were just regular joes just trying to get by. The Convoy arrived at the capitol building, a large art deco structure that housed the many offices of the different civilian departments of the government and the chambers where the Continental Congress had their sessions, the meeting would take place in a conference room in the Department of Foreign Affairs.

Director Viklund immediately set to start the meeting as she could see the Ionians, oddly dressed as they were, eager to begin negotiations, "I am afraid your government never sent a list of what would be covered by this meeting so I shall let you begin with whatever topic you feel most pertinent."

Aristotle was happy to hear of his being able to start the conversation though he was kind of embarrassed that a list didn't been sent considering the importance of the meeting;

"Thank you for that and sorry for not having sent a list. I believe that it would be best to start our talks with an offer which I think both of us will surely find beneficial; A trade agreement;

Both of our nations have products the other nation doesn't. Sylvania is a massive AAA class economy, with a developed industry which of course needs raw materials, that produces massive amounts of highly advanced technological items from cars and TVs to god knows computes and aircraft.

Ionia on the other hand is an AA class economy, with less focus on the industrial sector, though one exists, and more focus on tourism, maritime trade and mining as well as higher education as Ionian universities get lots of foreign students.

It is my firm belief that we could both earn greatly from this trade agreement.

On to another sector the Ionian government had decided to promote the Sylvanian consulate to a full embassy and we can grant you a larger and much more modern building located in the area of our capital city were mos of the Sylvanian community lives. We would also like to support the Sylvanian College of the city, which as you surely know is a renowned Sylvanian private school much like the Ionian Academy in Chaleroi.

What do your excellencies think of these first offers?"

OOC: Actually I made them wear western clothes in this meeting. It would be kind of odd to have an ambassador walk in in a Toga, especially considering the cold weather of Sylvania. I don't think I've made a thread about that yet but my Diplomatic Force is required to wear a Western military-like dress uniform. XD

Director Viklund stopped herself from making an annoyed face when hearing the first proposal, if this is what Ambassador Aristotle had come all this way to speak of then the rest of the meeting was most likely going to be a waste of her precious time.

"I don't believe you have done your homework, my dear. While rapid expansion of resource acquisition and increase production rates have propelled the Sylvanian economy to new and extremely profitable heights, we still have a long way to go. So that what you offer for trade are things we already have or are already in the process of acquiring here in Sylvania. Couple with long shipping times, the instability in the Long Sea region and your very own national crises that seem to erupt at any given time, we don't really see how you could offer us anything favorable. In fact so far what you have laid down on the table is nothing more than an extreme waste of my time, especially when I have to deal with the crisis that our nation and allies are caught up in right now."

Autumn Viklund let her words sink in for a moment before continuing, "So lets get down to what you really want and be direct, Sylvanians hate wasting time with frivolous discussion. Something you would have know had you done your homework."

Aristotle was furious. In Ionia if one talked like that to foreign dignitaries they would either enjoy the view outside the window of their prison cell, spend the rest of their life jobless and disgraced or simply be lined against the wall and shot. Depending on which state they lived in of course. To be insulted like that by a barbarian was a thing far below him and he could barely resist insulting the Sylvanian standing before him and leaving the summit.
"I believe that you haven't done your homework Ms. Viklund. In Ionia speaking like that to foreign dignitaries or foreigners in general is unacceptable, something you would know if you gave two craps about this meeting. Neither I nor any of my colleagues have the time nor the nerve to waste our time being insulted by barbarians, and female ones at that. I simply did so, just like with all my previous offers in hopes of improving relations with your nation. But alas we already have done so with the much more civilized Ivernish High Kingdom so I'm not in need of taking this kind of attitude form the likes of you. As such I'm retracting all my previous offers, you can keep that fallen ruin of a consul of yours and keep funding the college on your own. Now I'm moving on to a secret intelligence and diplomatic cooperation, something that your government proposed and stated it was open to less than a week ago, which was practically the reason we started this summit, as evidenced by the telegram reply we sent you back then, something which I'm entirely sure you neglected to read. I was also going to offer you a base in Ionia or the Ionian Colonial Holdings, but I guess that would be rejected in an equally rude manner, wouldn't it?"

Director Viklund took the insults in stride, smiling and standing up to gather her papers and leave, "Thank you for this wonderful meeting, sirs, but I must be going now as I have much more important matters to tend to. Please do be careful you will find that Charleroi can be difficult to navigate sometimes, of course there are taxis but they tend to be on the expensive side. Good day." She promptly left the room and was quickly replaced with a police officer who came to escort the Ionian delegation out the door into the street.

The Ionian side was furious with this attitude. The Ionian Ministry of Foreign Affairs decided to temporarily close the Ionian Embassy in Chaleroi in protest and prohibited Ms. Viklund or any other Sylvanian diplomat present at the meeting entry into Ionia. The Sylvanian ambassador was summoned by the President of the Republic to explain his side's attitude.

Ionia, Presidential Residnece
The Ionian president of the Republic was informed of the arrival of the Sylvanian ambassador. Without much generosity or kindness he immediately went on to the questioning.
"I was informed of the extremely rude behavior of your representatives to our delegation in Chaleroi. I do not know what you consider diplomacy in that frozen wasteland of yours but over here this kind of attitude is unacceptable. What do you have to say?"

The Sylvanian ambassador had heard of what happened in Charleroi, "I have no comments upon the matter Mister President, however I have been instructed from the Director herself that we are pulling out of Ionia, I will have the embassy cleared out within the next two days, transportation has already been arranged. Now if you will excuse me?" The Sylvanian ambassador waited politely for dismissal.

The Ionian President replied;
"You have 48 hours. The Presidential Guard will show you the way out. On the matter of the evacuation of the embassy you will have to use civilian planes as we will not allow military Sylvanian ones to touch down on Ionian soil. You may take a taxi back to the embassy, private cars are a luxury reserved for actual diplomats."
