Justosian Civil Guards carry only a side arm to be used for defense only. Decision to stand down Imperial Army Expeditionary Force Uno, Dos, & Tres was made by Emperatriz herself. Reportedly to signal the peaceful & domestic nature of this mission. They are currently being ferried by the Imperial Navy to every eastern island bordering the mainland's coastlines. These islands are dotted with Justosian expat & nationals settlements. Administrations since 1969, including the lone Social Democrat administration, have defacto considered these islands, most mere miles from the mainland, part of the archipelago. However, inexplicably, those governments never formally annexed them. These islands are known as the Frontera among mainlanders.

° The capital is a chatter tonight as the Emperatriz has had to utilize her constitutional authority to dissolve the Imperial Senate in extreme circumstances deemed such by the Capital Court. They have signed off in a 6-1 decision. The senate must be expanded by 4 seats for a new total of 102 seats.

° New islands renamed Puerta Island, Llave Island, & the Sirena Islands southern chain. The logistical groundwork for elections for those seats is already being laid.

° Crown Prince still single. Says "Navigating women is increasingly difficult."

° The Finance & Interior Minister have just personally telephoned the Emperatriz. We're getting word from a source in the Finance Ministry that in order to accommodate the logistical & rebuilding costs of reunification with the rest of the archipelago, taxes will need to be raised, considerably. When the next senate convenes, this issue is almost certain to take lead. Impact on the economy could be serious & effect the upcoming senate & gubernatorial elections.

Did the Nationalists really lose?

For only the second time in 52 years, the National Social Democratic Union has trounced the Nationalist Center Right Alliance at the polls. It was only regional & referendum elections but still. Before you jubilant leftists here & abroad start up, consider. In the new Imperial Senado the Nationalists still hold a 3 seat majority. So if you're part of this SDU Underground the Justice Ministry, or worse (ISB) might start soon investigating, don't expect liberal reforms, like what must never be said out loud (abolishing the monarchy), anytime soon.

Mind you both islands voted, by hair thin margin, to officially join the empire last night. A victory in that referendum for the Nationalists that should give this annexation (let's be honest) international legitimacy. The eastern islands both elected SDU governors & senators. This makes them very likely to remain where leftists will flock to live if able. A huge, Nationalist mainland, & two islands the leftists will exile themselves to. Not hard to see who wins that deal. I imagine only the empire's very wealthy leftists would elect to stay on the mainland if this trend continues.

Count also the special factors at play. Nationalist turnout was very likely depressed due to the leak from an anonymous Nationalist party source that they plan to introduce a bill to raise the Income Tax 20% on citizens making §250,000 & up. Expanding a nation, building an empire, never cheap. Many super wealthy Nationalists saw this as a betrayal. They likely withheld millions in donations. Lobbied others to stay home on those islands, etc. However they were outnumbered from the begginning. Another reason this isn't the realignment one might assume at a glance.

Nationalism is long soaked into the soil of this nation. It's part of the state religion. It will not just vanish, ever. The one who knows this best is no leftist. It's Her Imperial Majesty. An elegant centrist Minnow attempting to swim up a roaring river & current.

° The senate is currently preparing to be in session for a huge vote. The bill going to the floor is calling for full Marijuana legalization across the empire. This issue has been, hotly, debated before in the chamber. It has been defeated all 3 times in the vote to bring it to the floor. Now the empires' debt has shifted the conversation. Finance Ministry says the revenue from the 25% tax to be applied to the select number of coming dispensaries is to be "Very significant." According to projections. Snap reactions from Nationalist senators entering the complex have been indifferent, reluctant, & grumpy according to sources. The SDU Conference is united for this vote & we predict enough Nationalist senators will cede to pragmatism & push through something that could very well signal a seismic cultural shift in one of Europe's stalwart rightist nations.
