Application For Mapspot
The application process for new mapspots will continue much the way as it has been done before. Follow the guidelines and once the prerequisites are met, the country will be added to the next update, which will occur on the 1st and 15th of each month.

  • Name of Your Country
  • Map Location
  • Have 30+ posts
  • Name and location of capital city
  • Up to two additional cities with 100+ posts and an acceptable display of roleplay activity
  • If the application is for a secondary country, name of primary

For those who need it, here is a

  • 8.1.2011 - 9.14.2011 Map:
  • 7.15.2011 - 7.31.2011 Map:
  • 7.1.2011 - 7.14.2011 Map:
  • 6.15.2011 - 6.30.2011 Map:
  • 6.1.2011 - 6.14.2011 Map:
  • 5.15.2011 - 5.31.2011 Map:
  • 5.1.2011 - 5.14.2011 Map:
  • 4.15.2011 - 4.30.2011 Map:

Eligible for addition to 8.1.2011 update.

Inactivity
Those countries placed on the Inactivity List are subject to deletion on the next 1st of the Month Update. As I will be removing non-active nations on the 1st of each month, it will be the activity, or lack thereof, from the previous calender month that will determine whether or not a country will be deleted. A reasonable amount of role-play will prevent such deletion as will an announcement of departure on the Absence Thread , but only if there is a history of RP beforehand.

Inactivity List - Subject for deletion on 8.1.2011 update

Country - Last Activity Date/# RP Posting in present month/ Date of last RP Posting/ Abscence posting date

Warning - May be moved to Inactivity List if RP does not increase.

Please post non-application or correction commemnts on the .

Colonies
As people want colonies, they will be allowed, but they will be discused on a case by case basis an only provided to those nations that have been active for at least three months and each spot applied for will need to have an extensive written background. Those who wish to apply for large mapspots will need to also get some historical input for the neighboring countries.

Once a colony is received, RP will be needed to maintain it. Though small spots will need a small amout RP to maintain it, a large spot could need as much maintaining a primary mapspot, the larger the spot, the more RP will need to maintain it, and the more spots, the more RP as well.

To apply for a Colony Spot, please the following need to be met:

Have been playing 'Mother Country' for at least 3 months:
Location:
Name of Colony:
Name of Mother Country:
One City:
History: (If small, only history, large country size spot will need input from neighbors as well)

@Lenetia: I have noticed that you have been able to post some OOC stuff, but I would like to see at least a little RP before I put you on the map.

@Barbossa: The same with you, a single news post is not quite what I meant when saying "Only if there is a show of increased activity".

Hi Khalistan,

the location of my capital has seemed to shifted slightly during the last update. Could you please move Vlaanderen inland a bit so that it rests between the 'V' and the 'I' in 'Batavië', close to the 'I'? Thanks!

No need. Since I've been RP'ing with Bantyr assuming I have the spot in the map, I'll take the one in the map.
Thank you anyway!

Ok, I put it back to the way it was.

***Reminder***

The next update is Sunday, May 1st, so if there is any changes that need to be done, please notify me before then. As for any colony applications, I will also need them, preferably by Friday evening.

It'd probably be best if you changed the nation name on the map from Josepania to Aresura and the capital city from Seopolis to Smyrna, as plans have, well, not exactly gone to plan. Slight delays due to outside forces and whatnot. It'll also help eliminate some confusion.

If it is not too much trouble, could name Aquitania's western island, Île Saint-Michel and the eastern islands, Îles de Saint-Honorat

And if Xen hasn't talked to you about any changes in the east, just split the Oikawan peninsula that borders Keida in half. It's supposed to be divided between a Keidan South and Oikawan North.

Alright. I divided it along a parallel.

This shall be an application for a colony. My understanding if too late for the next update.

Location: O12
Name of Colony: Implaarische Antillen (Implarian Antilles)
Name of Mother Country: Batavia
One City: Ijshoek (southeastern coast of the largest island)

History: The Implarian Antilles were discovered on a voyage in the year 1697 by a Suionian expedition. Although having claimed the island group for the Kingdom of Suionia, very little development at all was done on the islands due to a lack of useful resources for the time and a cold climate throughout much of the year. In 1711 the islands were sold to the Principality of Batavia for the today equivalent of 326.000 NCD (Northern Council Dollars) in cash and gold stock. Lacking a leeway point at the time to Zingapoer (Wing Sing) and other Batavian trading ports and partners, the islands were thought to become an important port of call for merchant ships and the Navy on their way to Cathay. As most ships at the time could not traverse through the ice-infested waters of the Northwest Passage (west from Scanogermania, over Hyborea etc.) the islands were receiving supplies and settlers extremely slowly, with long periods of time between contact periods with the home country. Very seldom would supply ships from Batavia traverse the warmer, but longer rout through the Great Sea and up around to the North Implarian Ocean.

By the 19th century, however, the use of the warmer route expanded and the colony became more of a permanent place to settle, lucrative mainly for those who could cater to visiting crews, otherwise there was very little to make a fortune off of. A small amount of sheep and goats were kept for the use of the local population and fishing became important not only for local consumption, but also eventually for export. Smoked salmon was and remains today a speciality and one of the largest industries. Although minor and small, a small maritime boundary dispute exists between the Implarian Antilles and the Suionian island colony to the north as fisherman from both locales frequently run into each other and argue over fishing grounds and their limits. Drottninggården and Vlaanderen have never got around to settling the issue as it hardly affects the fishing industry and is more a formality if anything.

During the De Graaf communist era the islands were used for radar and naval installations as well as a small airbase, which was used to base long-range bombers that patrolled the vast Implarian, mostly sticking to shipping lanes. It was a controversial point, especially for Suionia. A few incidents of ship 'buzzing' occurred as well as naval close encounters, also this small theatre of the cold war remained largely peaceful.

Since the fall of communism the new democratic government has promised to increase federal spending on the islands, with infrastructure and business investment projects. It is believed that the island may be a good eco-tourist location as well as refinery for oil produced in foreign locations in Cathay. Batavian Petroleum has expressed interests in building a refinery, but is first looking for long term refinement contracts with oil producers in the Far East. Although still an important way point for the military, troop levels are planned to be greatly reduced and there are also talks between island officials and Vlaanderen of granting the chain the status of an 'Autonomous Territory', which would grant the local government exclusive governing rights over domestic affairs, but leave foreign affairs and defense in the hands of the Republic of Batavia.

The main languages spoken on the islands are: Dutch (87%), Suionian-Swedish (9,5%), Singlish (3,5%)

The total island population is: 6.872 with the population of Ijshoek at: 4.991

The two southern islands are nearly uninhabited and form part of a national park, famous for their cliffs and large bird and seal populations. The northern parts of the north island are frequently visited by polar bears in the deep winter months.

If more detail is needed, please let me know!

EDIT: I assumed most of this history would be all right with Coro. If not, I am more than happy to edit it/change it altogether if he just doesn't want it there, but I thought it would be a nice additional bit to throw in there.

Since November, my spot has been moved West (it originally bordered the eastern end of the map). Please either fix this or spread out my islands, some of them used to be used as troop stacking places for the Freiheit War and consequently were close to Boreas. Alternatively please assign some of the empty islands to the East to Oikawa, as they were originally derived from the spot.

It is more like the ocean has been expanded eastward and the islands there were added, but I will add a few islands small islands and give you O10 & O11.

Good job on the map! It looks really awesome. I do have a little problem: my capital is not that far north.

Here's is a really, really old map q/vistrasia made ages ago. My capital is the black star on the left.
