Ouistreham - This morning, the Government of King Charles Augustus serenissime announced it will be sending a commission of military officers and business leaders to Serenierre, Fruili, and Auraria. The commission is charged to find ways to improve the domestic military-industrial complex of Neustria and also recommend areas where duplication of armaments within the Gallian sphere would be inefficient.

Agneaux - Police and security forces raided an apartment block in the southern city of Agneaux last night. Explosives and bomb-making materials were seized and a dozen occupants of the complex of flats, including two étranger women, were arrested and taken away for questioning. An official at the Agneaux Hall of Justice, speaking on condition of anonymity, said, "it is much worse that we thought. There was a bomb ready for deployment. We caught it just in time." The official would not confirm or deny that any of the persons arrested are non-Tiburan Confederate extremists.

National - Police are reporting with surprise a breakout of unrest across Neustria this last weekend. Citizens in Ouistreham, Agneaux, and other communities took to the streets Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights to demonstrate against the government and the break-up of Bourgogne. Arrests were made as a number of the demonstrators vandalized and looted local businesses belonging to Confederate non-Tiburian citizens. Sénéchal Joffrey Segal called on the demonstrators to bring their grievances to representatives in the Estates General. There is no comment on the demonstrations from King Charles Augustus serenissime.

Ouistreham - Neustria's army announced tentative plans for reforms to begin as soon as this month. The commission of defense officials and military-industrialists visiting Neustria's Gallian allies has transmitted preliminary recommendations, including a revision of the Army's order of battle. General Georges Broulard, Chef d'État-Major des Armées, commented that the recommendations, when acted upon, would have immediate effect in bolstering Neustria's national defense and internal security.

Ouistreham - The main offices of La Gazette recieved a parcel today. We reproduce this letter here:

Dear Editor,

In return for the life of his son, we demand that Charles dissolve his government and reunite Neustria with the Burgundian People's Republic. This course of action must commence immediately and tangible signs of reunion must be apparent within the next 14 days.

To show we mean what we say, we have sent along the boy's left index finger.

The Will of the Gallians is the only important thing. All the peoples of Gallia cry out for union with each other. The first step: Neustria and the BPR must become one nation. Only then can our purification of ideology and unity of will drive out the barbarians from Chagny and create a paradise of thought and ideas. Then our liberation of the rest of Gallia will become not only possible, but inevitable. Germania will follow. And the heathen nations beyond will submit to Gallian cultural and ethnic superiority as a matter of course.

Front de libération gallien

La Gazette, after copying the message for publication, immediately contacted authorities and passed the letter along to the proper hands.

King Charles and Queen Adelaide are reported to be in seclusion. Police have begun rounding up suspected terrorists. The Government has refused to say whether or not the demand will be met. No word yet on if the Foreign Ministry has contacted allied Gallian nations.

The Rapid Action Force, which includes the 4e Division Aéromobile and 11e Division Parachutiste, have been put on alert. Experts warn that financial realities may preclude deployment of these units.

At this time, the grand duchy sympathizes as Neustria finds itself to be the latest victim of the Pillau Republic's state sponsored terrorism. No doubt Pillau will deny responsibility, but it cannot wash its hands of the fact it has empowered these fanatics. However, Neustria is not beyond blame, having in its bid to take all it could during its recent breakaway prevented the grand duchy from being able to effectively counteract the Pillau Republic's aggression. Hopefully Neustria has learned its lesson. It is a shame it took the finger of an innocent.
